[00:00:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Welcome to the Supreme Resort, Land V World, a podcast about Disneyland and Walt Disney

[00:00:21] [SPEAKER_02]: with Walt and Witch is the Supreme Resort.

[00:00:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Each episode we will discuss and explore each resort, ride by ride, land by land, park by park,

[00:00:33] [SPEAKER_02]: hotel by hotel to determine which is better.

[00:00:37] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm your host Jimmy and thank you for joining me on this quest to help the greater good

[00:00:40] [SPEAKER_02]: humanity answer this long elusive question, which is better, Disneyland or Walt Disney World.

[00:00:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Joining me as always is, discounted in!

[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh hi, I've discounted in, I got some low grade meats for you in my trunk of my car.

[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_06]: What's that?

[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_04]: We also have extravagant airich.

[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Hello, plays follow me to the live styles of the people that go to all of the Disney

[00:01:06] [SPEAKER_04]: hotels and don't care about anything that doesn't have Disney in front of it.

[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_04]: That's right, and I'm Jimmy.

[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't think of a iteration for my name.

[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Today's episode ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, we are going to talk about hotels

[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_02]: and when we're talking about a Disneyland or Walt Disney World vacation, we are in general,

[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_02]: you have to stay there unless of course you live nearby.

[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_02]: If you're going to stay and you're going to sleep in a hotel, there's a lot of different varieties

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_02]: and choices you can make.

[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_02]: We're going to take this chunk by chunk to identify maybe overall which is better to stay

[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_02]: at Disneyland or Disney World.

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_02]: We're going to start with the value resorts, and we'll get into what that means.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Can we be clear here?

[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_04]: We're not talking about a, from the files of Mrs. Basil Eve, Freck and Wine, Frank and

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Wiler, where we're going to have children stay inside the park overnight.

[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I could be as bashful.

[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Or the never made John Favro joint, the magic kingdom where people stay in Disneyland

[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_02]: and it comes alive, not unlike the 9 of the museums here.

[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I didn't know about that one.

[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Also, I'm just talking about the beloved children's book from my beloved childhood.

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_06]: I can't read, so I don't know.

[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, nobody got that reference.

[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you.

[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_04]: No, I don't know.

[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Very much.

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_06]: Absolutely, very part of the whole thing.

[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_06]: So how are you guys doing? How's it going, Dan?

[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm doing great.

[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_06]: Great. Yeah.

[00:02:40] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, as much as it's the fun.

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_06]: It's fun.

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_04]: It was like a bevel juice.

[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Performance right there.

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I saw bevel juice.

[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Bevel juice.

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Don't say it again.

[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_02]: I know.

[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_02]: They will make a third.

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_02]: That's almost guaranteed.

[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, I won't say any more words about that.

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Dan, you wouldn't like it.

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Is that a trick to get me to like it?

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_04]: Yep.

[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_04]: Do you like the song?

[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Like Carthor Park.

[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, you, you better.

[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what that is.

[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_02]: It's only a tenth of the movie.

[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_02]: That might be a third, but anyway,

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_02]: so Dan, do you have trips coming to Disneyland coming up soon?

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_02]: I do.

[00:03:23] [SPEAKER_06]: I am going to Disneyland.

[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_06]: October 5th is one of the days.

[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_06]: The Carthor Park.

[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_06]: What's that?

[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_00]: MacArthur Park is something in the dark.

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_00]: All the dinosaurs.

[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_03]: That's fantastic park.

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_03]: That's all I can think of too.

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_03]: It's weird how you incubate it.

[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Jurassic Park is frightening in the dark.

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_00]: All the dinosaurs are running.

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't know that song.

[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_06]: I just listened to it a little bit of it.

[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I have a trip coming up on that time.

[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_06]: I have been stalking Expedia.

[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_06]: I mean, the contiers to find the best price at the most reasonable place.

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_06]: I was appropriate for this episode.

[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_06]: I know.

[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, sneak behind the curtain here.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_06]: I've been obsessed.

[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, remember Dan's a hoarder reservation hoarder highlights?

[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, I have not stopped and it's all been about hotels.

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_06]: So I have been making reservations all this entire like three years

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_06]: that the parks have been reopened.

[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_06]: Speculating possible things, trying to grab good prices at places

[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_06]: that I have ever either never been to or would like to go to again.

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Some of them will be some honorable mentions as we go forward.

[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_06]: But I am going to be staying at the windom, which I've never stayed at.

[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_02]: And the windom is a what would Disney consider that a deluxe?

[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it's on the moderate list.

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_06]: But it has very good reviews.

[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_06]: I've started to be a snob about mattresses, sorry.

[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_06]: My brain is not really operating very well currently.

[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_04]: mattress, bed things that don't have bugs.

[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_06]: Nestled things that are comfortable, things that are comfortable.

[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Like I do not like a hard mattress, which is something that

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_06]: now that I have gotten a promotion, I can afford to be a little bit more.

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_02]: And update for the fans, Dan is no longer

[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_02]: 0.6 of a person. He is now a whole person.

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm a whole person.

[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Pretty neat.

[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_04]: He got up to the news for me.

[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_06]: Anyway, nobody knows what that means.

[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_06]: The windom has good reviews. It looks like a reasonable place.

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_06]: I'll update people if they're curious.

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, actually by the time we get to that, I was going to say I will have stayed there.

[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_06]: That's right.

[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_02]: So Dan, that's good news.

[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_02]: The windom.

[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Where is the windom in relation to Disneyland?

[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_06]: It is around the corner.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_06]: It is um, remember when we went to the high house milk?

[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, hi, hello, hi, hi, hi, hi, hi.

[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_02]: We had a tour.

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_02]: It was lovely.

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, it's across the, it's across Katela from there.

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, okay, sure.

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_02]: And you're like the maybe the JW Marriott or something?

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Of course it is.

[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_04]: So one of those where you're wondering,

[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_04]: should I walk to the Toy Story Lot or should I just walk to the park?

[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_06]: No, it's definitely a, I should walk to the park thing.

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_06]: In my case, it's going to be a,

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_06]: should I take the art or should I walk to the park?

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Because as I've mentioned before,

[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_06]: not frequently enough that anyone should remember while I

[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_06]: appreciate and I had this opinion when I was also in shape.

[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_06]: So it's on a fat guy thing.

[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_06]: I am of the opinion that if you are close enough to the park to walk,

[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_06]: but you can take an art, you should take the art because you're going to be walking a lot.

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_04]: There's enough walking coming.

[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_06]: You get no bonus points for that like 10 minutes of walking.

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_06]: That it's the drop in the bucket just do your,

[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, if you want to walk the frantic pace where you're like,

[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_04]: got to get to the, got to get to the gate, got to get to the gate.

[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Where you walk every little faster than everybody else?

[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Now there is that and I'm also fine with the,

[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_06]: I guess my point is like it shouldn't be a hard yes or no.

[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Like I hear a lot of people say like, oh and it's so close to the park,

[00:07:14] [SPEAKER_06]: we can just walk back and forth and get some exercise.

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm like, what do you think you're going to be doing the whole time being carried by like a

[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_06]: shirt but like, and the shirt was like, if you do hot dogs?

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Just so everyone listening, if you're a Disney land fan,

[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_02]: just to give you some proximity information,

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_02]: yes, Dan is right. It's directly across street from the,

[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_02]: what do we call that? The, uh,

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_02]: hi it. What's it called? Hi it has the hi-house? Yeah.

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because it's the one that's like a, uh,

[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_02]: president said it's the one they across street. In fact, we exit at the hi-house right there.

[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, it looks just next door. But I hear good things.

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Just next door on the way to Disneyland is a little small shopping center at the corner of

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Burnt Katella. Mm-hmm. Dan, Eric and I enjoyed a pizza or a sub.

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, they can explain politics to us just as I ever had a great time coming down with COVID.

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_02]: I sure did. Um, not just hope it's enjoyed my time listening about politics.

[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Just next to that is an inexplicable open lot.

[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Just completely inexplicable. Oh, that's a lot. Disney lands camping village.

[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_04]: You can, there are some tires on fire. You can warm yourself by the fence.

[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. And that's the kind of thing that we're going to get into too. I mean, like because there are,

[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_06]: there are of course, we're, I think we've dispensed with the idea of bubble versus not bubble

[00:08:36] [SPEAKER_06]: because that's just, that's, that's an opinion thing, right? Right. And the hub curl about bubble

[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_06]: opinions. One of the nice things about the Disneyland resort is everything so close,

[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_06]: everything's walkable. Certain hotels have certain things close by. Some of them have an art

[00:08:54] [SPEAKER_06]: stop that some of them are more reliable than others. Which I've learned. Uh, so now there are,

[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_06]: there are, there's more of a conversation to be had than just which is cheaper or which is nicer.

[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_06]: I mean, that's, that's going to be a big part of it. But sure. Now, just to get you up,

[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_02]: I know you've seen it in the title listeners, but today we're going to start a series of episodes

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_02]: about hotels you can stay in whilst staying near these properties. The rules of engagement are

[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_02]: everyone must be polite. What's, yeah, always be nice. Don't mind, don't talk about

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_02]: fife club. That's right. And at Walt Disney World, if it is not situated in the 27,000 acre

[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_02]: geography, it doesn't count. So what does count, if you're playing along at home, is that entire

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_02]: bonnet creakersort, which is technically not on Disney property. But it's right in the middle of

[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Disney property. So that counts. The Hilton and the whatever that I'd love to talk about bonnet creaks

[00:09:58] [SPEAKER_02]: someday. And we will in part of this series. Um, and also included other hotels that Jason

[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_02]: to Disney Springs, they are on Disney property. But when you get to the high it, which is off

[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Disney property, you can see from Disney Springs that it does not count because it's not on property.

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_02]: It does need land in order for this to count, it must be listed on Disney's website as a good

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_02]: neighbor hotel. Okay. So that's the series of episodes we're going to do. We've decided to break it

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_02]: out by category. We're going to let Disney decide the category for us and in this case,

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_02]: we're going to start with what we're going to call the value resorts. The value resort at Disney

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_02]: world is listed as a value resorts on Disney's travel agent website. There is no category value.

[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_02]: But when I looked at the different categories, when I chose moderate as a category, which seems to be

[00:10:48] [SPEAKER_02]: the lowest of the categories as far as price goes. The first thing listed is motel six. So I'm

[00:10:53] [SPEAKER_02]: going to go ahead and assume that that's what they mean by value. That motel six and I go way back.

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_02]: So when they charge by the hour. Um, all right. So by those rules and by that definition,

[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_02]: there are 18 Disney land good neighbor hotels that are in the value category. They say moderate.

[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_02]: We're going to save value from now on. There are 18 value resorts at Disney land and there are

[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_02]: five value resorts at Disney world. We did a little exercise before the episode where we kind of

[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_02]: got an idea, okay, we have value versus value. There's 18 hotels versus five. And in a brief exercise,

[00:11:32] [SPEAKER_02]: we discovered that at Disney land in those 18 resorts, we estimate about 4,000 hotel rooms

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_02]: in the value category. At Disney world, we estimate 12,000 hotel rooms in the value category.

[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_02]: So there are triple the amount of rooms available in the category at only five hotels versus

[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_02]: the 18. I don't think that's relevant to the conversation but I thought it was an interesting

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_04]: tidbit. No, it's good to bring up but yeah, we're talking about a resort that has four theme parks

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_04]: and two water parks and all of this other stuff. It doesn't, it doesn't track the same way. That's right.

[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_02]: So also for this episode, we are just just a little place setting for the listener. This is not

[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_02]: really going to be a versus episode. The series may become a versus series overall when we examine

[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_02]: all these, but really this is about perhaps it's an unintentional advertisement for

[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_02]: contours, but really what it is is between Dan, Eric and I. We've stayed in all of these hotels.

[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_02]: We can give you firsthand experience or we've toured them or we've spent enough time nearby.

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_02]: We can give you a little bit of the essence of these different hotels. So we're going to talk

[00:12:44] [SPEAKER_02]: about the hotel. Not at nausea. I'm not in a great detail. We're just going to talk about each one.

[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Just to give you some highlights. For example, maybe you didn't know what the candy cane

[00:12:53] [SPEAKER_02]: not only do they have their own shuttle, but they have their own, you can get free breakfast.

[00:12:59] [SPEAKER_02]: It's included in the room and it physically touches California adventure. So as far as proximity

[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_02]: goes, you can't beat it. It's also considered a value property for Disney. Those are things that

[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_02]: we'll be able to talk about through the course of the episode. Do you want to see

[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_06]: on a real mentions before or after? I think after. Okay. If you're ready for them when you're

[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_02]: ready, and then with this particular episode also how we've decided to break it out.

[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Again, there are 18 value resorts at Disneyland. There are five at Disney World.

[00:13:34] [SPEAKER_02]: And how we've decided to break this out is by proximity. And if you're familiar with Disney

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_02]: World, you know the proximity of these five hotels that are considered in the value category

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_04]: are nowhere near anything. There in the animal kingdom, the all star resorts are in the animal

[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_02]: kingdom resort area. Resort area. And I believe pop century and art of animation, I think are in

[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_02]: the Miami resort area. I'm not sure. It's their all. There's a far.

[00:14:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Unless I'm not perhaps. Listener, if you're about to close up a little bit when Jimmy said

[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_06]: this might be an advertisement for contires, that's why I'm here to keep it from becoming one.

[00:14:11] [SPEAKER_02]: That's right. Because it's not intentional, but I said that because we're going to be

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_02]: paid for this podcast. Well, that's also true. But this is really going to it's ultimately

[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_02]: this is intended to be an educational thing informative less argument to. But we are who we are and

[00:14:25] [SPEAKER_06]: we have the interest that we do. I'm not a contender myself. And I love giving a bunch of weird

[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_06]: information about an eye myriad hotels. So I can't deny there is a stand a capitalist. So

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_02]: that's also true. Not by choice. I have not. Okay. So the final thing before we get started,

[00:14:42] [SPEAKER_02]: the other thing we decided to do like I started was the proximity. In the case of Disney

[00:14:47] [SPEAKER_02]: World, whereas none of those hotels are within walking distance of a theme park,

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_02]: half what virtually all of the hotels were going to talk about a Disneyland are in fact

[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_02]: within walking distance. Now you may be a super fit athletic person say I could walk from

[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_02]: all star music to a theme park. You could. But you have to walk in traffic. There's no sidewalk

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_02]: interchange. There's no sidewalk. You can't technically walk to the properties. So in this case,

[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_02]: proximity we're going to say in the Disneyland resort case, in this value resort category,

[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_02]: proximity is it's across the street or less than a half a mile to the Esplanade. Okay. That's

[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_02]: going to be one category of Disneyland hotels. The equivalent category of Disney World are going

[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_02]: to be the two hotels that are on the skyliner, which means you could take the skyliner to

[00:15:43] [SPEAKER_02]: two theme parks, right? In Disneyland as two theme parks, in this case it's two theme parks,

[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Okay. So those are the parameters there. And then the other half

[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_02]: of the hotels at Disneyland are a half to one mile away or more than a mile away. And in some cases,

[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_02]: those are going to be compared to the all stars, which are, you know, again, no proximity whatsoever.

[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. In this exercise we're going to go through these two groups of hotels and we're going

[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_02]: to talk about them, you know, again, hopefully briefly, but if it's interesting information,

[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_02]: we're just going to keep going. We're going to go through the hotels in these categories

[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_02]: in order of price. And by an order of price I want to set the stage for everybody. I chose

[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_02]: the 12th of August, 2025 for two adults for one night. That's just an arbitrary date. But this is

[00:16:34] [SPEAKER_02]: how Disney listed them in order of price on their travel agent website. And it's okay. He didn't

[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_04]: specify whether Jimmy is staying with me or Dan. That's right. But you know what? It'll be, it'll be

[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_04]: fine. And I put up any unnecessary rivalries between us. I put two adults just so it wasn't weird.

[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_02]: But I said one bed because we all three of us will need to be. Are you implying? Of course.

[00:16:58] [SPEAKER_06]: One thing in our hotel room by themselves is weird. No, I just didn't want Disney to think that

[00:17:01] [SPEAKER_06]: all three of us are getting the same bed. And I'm going to submit a complaint to HR. Okay.

[00:17:09] [SPEAKER_02]: 856 hour here. So I wanted to establish all of sort of the thinking behind all this. So

[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_02]: listener if you have any questions like why would they do this? Why did they choose that? That's why.

[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_06]: And before you get on Reddit, listener it's not an exact science but we did we did try. We tried to

[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_06]: cat let's just like the exact room numbers okay we were maybe off by a couple hundred but like

[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_02]: we made a reasonable effort right? That's right. Yeah that's correct. So because I made it through

[00:17:39] [SPEAKER_02]: the first nine hotels in this order and like let's 240 there, 105 divided there, 99 there etc.

[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_02]: And I just took all that multiplied by two and I came before 1000. Okay, so we're going to start

[00:17:51] [SPEAKER_02]: if unless you guys have any other business or things you want to talk about just to finish up

[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_06]: the loose end of walking or taking the art I recommend walking there and taking the art back because

[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_04]: we're going to be happy. Nice. And I've got a one-man show premiering in Denver. It's the Walt Disney

[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_04]: story without Walt Disney. It's all of the people talking about Walt Disney who are not Walt

[00:18:14] [SPEAKER_04]: it is four hours long and it is free because the theater would not allow me to charge people too.

[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Eric, you're welcome to edit this out but I just during this conversation thought of our

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_06]: Halloween episode. Great moment. Oh yeah that's great. Oh no perfect. Oh this is taking shape.

[00:18:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. Okay so another related, unrelated tangent was I watched a video earlier today,

[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_06]: Bricky Dan. Oh yeah like it's 98% of us stuff which is why I brought it up. He posted

[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_02]: a 10 minute video about three subjects that Disney won't make movies about?

[00:19:00] [SPEAKER_02]: One. My club. Well that's okay four. One Walt Disney. Two Mickey Mouse and three

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_04]: Disney land. We did but but we hit it wasn't was a saving Mr. Banks he was a character but it wasn't

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_02]: about him. Okay that's fair. He was in the movie. It wasn't about him. I like no full-length

[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_06]: feature about Mickey Mouse. There's been a lot of Bricky stuff but every once in a while when

[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_06]: he's hurting for a topic which is kind of weirdly around this time here everything here we all.

[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_06]: It's he does tend to get into some click baby places. Well it worked. It was 10 minutes that's kind

[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_02]: of my litness stuff for things I don't care about but he made some interesting arguments about why

[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_02]: they have not greenlit full-length features about those three things because what if they're bad?

[00:19:48] [SPEAKER_02]: You don't want to taint the brand. Sure. Yeah okay. Anyway anything else before we move on Eric you're

[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_04]: going to show. No my one-man show oh I just got an email it's been canceled. Oh.

[00:20:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Better luck. So none of you will get your tickets refunded. I'm sorry.

[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_02]: All right we're going to start with the Disney land resort because it came first we're going to

[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_02]: start with the Disneyland Resort Hotels by proximity first and in the proximity by price so by those rules

[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_02]: of engagement. The first hotel. Tell us what's first. Yeah just tell us what to talk about you figured

[00:20:30] [SPEAKER_02]: out. I'm in it's I guess. Okay the first thing we're going to talk about is castle in and

[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_02]: sweets. Castle in and sweets. In this particular case one night well it probably doesn't matter but

[00:20:43] [SPEAKER_02]: just to say one night two adults August 12th 2025 two-day single park tickets plus park hopper

[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_02]: $930 for the. Not bad $930 to adults two-day park hopper one night and that night I'm looking

[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_06]: it up on Expedia is actually three 17 for one night so getting the package is so that's

[00:21:12] [SPEAKER_02]: $600 for two-day park hopper passes for two people. That's a hefty package indeed. Okay so Castle

[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_06]: in and sweets briefly it's across the street it's I think underrated I think it is underrated but I

[00:21:33] [SPEAKER_04]: look at it that's what I think like oh it's gonna be really crappy rooms and it's gonna be

[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_04]: like fake heraldry everywhere that's that's my impression as a person walking by. The hotel from the

[00:21:46] [SPEAKER_06]: exterior gives off the vibe and this is during the day or the night gives off that Las Vegas during

[00:21:52] [SPEAKER_06]: the day vibe. Where it's like oh I would have anyone go there exactly. However I have stayed

[00:22:03] [SPEAKER_06]: there a couple times and I mean I don't think any of these except for a few are gonna be like

[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_06]: oh my god this is this is an amazing place it's a very reasonable place one of the things I like

[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_06]: about it is they have some rooms that are actually two entirely separate bedrooms. So if you have

[00:22:24] [SPEAKER_06]: people that have like weird sleep schedules or different sleep schedules or you just don't like each other

[00:22:29] [SPEAKER_04]: or whatever or maybe they don't want to look at their children it's fine right or maybe like

[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't know there are a lot of different reasons why you would want a separate room that's why

[00:22:45] [SPEAKER_06]: in and sweets. Exactly and but like unlike some places where it's like okay you have this little

[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_06]: half-assed living room with a sad pullout couch it's actually like one bedroom with two

[00:22:58] [SPEAKER_06]: queens I think and then another separate bedroom with I believe it's own bathroom I could be wrong

[00:23:04] [SPEAKER_02]: about that probably two hotel rooms that were converted into one essentially yes that's yeah multiple

[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_02]: bathrooms that's good right yeah so I booked it a couple of times as a concierge and the feedback has

[00:23:18] [SPEAKER_02]: been great it's across the street it's very convenient it's comfortable why would it what begs

[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_02]: the question why is it one of the least expensive hotels on the Disney travel agent site I think

[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_06]: because it's ugly and people assume it's gonna be tacky which it is for the outside but it's a

[00:23:36] [SPEAKER_04]: if it's comfortable it doesn't smell like your uncle fills cigar I think that's good

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_04]: I for a lot of people yeah so I think it's not it's not perfect do they have a pool like what else

[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_06]: is going on there or what's up with breakfast they don't have breakfast they have a pool I think

[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_06]: you have to pay for parking um I think that's pretty reasonable though right well yeah you have to

[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_06]: place I'm just thinking of like things that might drop people away from it I think people just

[00:24:06] [SPEAKER_06]: assume it's gonna be gross honestly and let's be fair I mean it's run really well currently but

[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_06]: I also get the feeling that it's like one generation away from being the hotel that people assume

[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_06]: it is okay you know what I mean like it it I feel like what we see as a good place to stay probably

[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_06]: takes a lot of effort on their part and I could just see a change in management making it

[00:24:33] [SPEAKER_06]: turn into you it's X caliber also it's not I mean it's close but it's not as close as the

[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_02]: annual hotel which will get to or they can't be between what we talked about earlier in the show

[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_02]: we're dancing at the windom and then I'd mentioned there is an empty lot inexplicable empty lot

[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_02]: next thing over is the cast-lin and sweets right okay I think I think it's mainly just a

[00:25:00] [SPEAKER_06]: perception issue in terms of like access to things you have that weird shopping center just beyond

[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_06]: that field where people get assassinated allegedly and um and then you also have basically all

[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_06]: the amenities of the Anaheim Hotel which again we'll get to I would say there's no reason to not

[00:25:20] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah there's a there's a liquor store there's a cafe there's a subway there's a

[00:25:25] [SPEAKER_02]: pizza place there's a star burger yeah and then they're all right there it's so they're all

[00:25:30] [SPEAKER_04]: close there are it's not a big thing to go to a place the pizza place across the street is another

[00:25:35] [SPEAKER_06]: liquor store 7-11 the better place then yeah yeah so in that intersection you also have wall

[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_06]: greens it's a little bit it's more of a walk but it's very close you have wall greens and CVS

[00:25:48] [SPEAKER_06]: so you know if you need you know emergency medication or you forget like you know if you

[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_04]: forget the readers and you need to go out of the CV or if you forget that you loved

[00:25:57] [SPEAKER_06]: Doritos and you need those Doritos then you can go there um quite the CVS yeah and again

[00:26:04] [SPEAKER_06]: I guess what it comes down to for Castlein I I understand why it's not really anyone's first choice

[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_06]: off the top of their head unless they've stayed there but I wouldn't talk anyone out of staring there

[00:26:17] [SPEAKER_02]: yep I'm with you all right so moving on to the next in order of price

[00:26:23] [SPEAKER_02]: and proximity is next door the Anaheim Hotel in this case 989 dollars for one night two adults park

[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_02]: or passes for two days so that's if you're doing math at home that is 50 you know so you

[00:26:40] [SPEAKER_02]: 59 dollars more for the total stay

[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_02]: versus the Castlein and sweet so is it worth your

[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_06]: 59 dollars for that extra 100 feet and I have just for those we've playing along I have thank you 230 for that 9

[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_02]: just been so 233 versus 317 Dan yes so it is less expensive now arguably there are more

[00:27:04] [SPEAKER_02]: rooms at the Anaheim Hotel see that's weird and Anaheim Hotel has just for the record Anaheim

[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Hotel has 306 rooms and the Castlein and sweet has 155 so they're quite literally double the rooms

[00:27:18] [SPEAKER_02]: at the Anaheim Hotel which would make sense that the room rate per night would be less

[00:27:23] [SPEAKER_02]: although the total package price is more interesting I before I forget I want to mention something

[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_06]: about the Anaheim Hotel which I love by the way but there there are several hotels that have

[00:27:33] [SPEAKER_06]: these weird quirks about them Anaheim Hotel definitely one of them and it pointed itself out just now

[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_06]: when I think it's kind of a better hotel overall than Castlein but it's cheaper

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_06]: Anaheim Hotel if you like stock the prices they fluctuate weirdly so this far out and I think this

[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_06]: was on our after hours not on this episode I think what we the conclusion we came to is they price

[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_06]: they price in this weird way where it's like okay if you were you could you could stay there

[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_06]: I would imagine if I looked at the same room closer to the time but not super close it would

[00:28:13] [SPEAKER_06]: probably be like in the low 200s it's just it's just strange also where to the wise

[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_06]: they have weird cancellation policies that change all the time so be kind of aware of that

[00:28:28] [SPEAKER_02]: inside the Anaheim Hotel and it's a 300 plus rooms and sweets there are villas of sorts

[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_02]: there are hotel rooms all most of them recently renovated the harbor market places a little shop

[00:28:42] [SPEAKER_02]: inside the pizza press is a very nice wood-fired well oven in the wall pizza place whether it's

[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_02]: like a very much nice little bar great taps top our as fantastic top golf Anaheim is located inside

[00:28:58] [SPEAKER_02]: of the Anaheim hotel I don't think that's true it is it's it's it's a room it's a little simulator yeah

[00:29:07] [SPEAKER_04]: also fun fact you they do have a fun little courtyard with with big games like

[00:29:12] [SPEAKER_04]: like elk and rhino yeah big game like elk that's right no of the connect four

[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_04]: and big like big novelty like a giant jet set yeah yeah yeah when we toured the Anaheim hotel

[00:29:28] [SPEAKER_02]: a year or so ago with concierge they told a fun story the hotel was built at the same time

[00:29:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Disney land was being built and the entrepreneur gentleman who built the hotel decided that

[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_02]: nobody's gonna want to stay at this carnival all day long because nobody knew what Disney

[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_02]: had was and so let's build a giant pool yeah it's kind of big ass pool it is the biggest

[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_02]: of biggest pools you've ever seen I wouldn't call it a limpic style but you can see it from space

[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_02]: it's a very large pool it is a giant rectangle that is all some other things about

[00:30:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Anaheim hotel that I find very charming first of all it has serious palm springs vibes if you've

[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_06]: understood and many of the rooms cut like the standard room all have a balcony or a patio which is

[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_06]: and it's not like a half-assed like here's like you could actually step up and it feels like a home's

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_06]: patio yeah yeah it's like an actual patio or an actual balcony they have a few

[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_06]: partial park view balcony rooms which they will get you in there right at four o'clock and on a moment

[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_06]: or whatever check-in time is not a complaint just heads up and then they have with these

[00:30:50] [SPEAKER_06]: cool little weird sweet rooms that are almost like they said to someone just build

[00:30:58] [SPEAKER_04]: the weird sweet and they did and like do you have any feet do you have like 17 extra square feet right

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_06]: well and no I actually took a tour of one of them like casually and it's like oh you have a

[00:31:12] [SPEAKER_06]: bathtub and a shower and the bathtub is like a fancy weird like coming out of the floor bathtub

[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_06]: and like a cloth foot I guess I don't know what things are called and like a living room

[00:31:25] [SPEAKER_06]: and but then weirdly like no patio no that one did have a patio but like there's weird it's

[00:31:30] [SPEAKER_06]: a weird place but I don't mean it that in a bad sense just had a lot of varieties here and it

[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_04]: looks like a motel but it really has been updated pretty well and it very recently and it's got a

[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_06]: really good like old california vibe having said that part of that is yeah some things are kind of

[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_06]: out of date if you're looking for like super fancy like I wouldn't take there are people in my

[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_06]: really don't like nuance and would like be critical that the hot water wasn't super hot instantly

[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_06]: or that you know the the shower had had like signs of like 30 years of use but it was still

[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_06]: perfectly functional you know like that it's having said all that I love this place it has a lot of

[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_06]: charm has a lot of personality the staff is super friendly and it tends to be as we've discussed

[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_02]: one of the less expensive properties I think a lot of it to do with the number of rooms it has

[00:32:34] [SPEAKER_02]: one of the most in this category so you know it's applying demand and like you said it does have

[00:32:41] [SPEAKER_02]: a very Palm Springs vibe but it is you know across the street right well appointed a lot of amenities

[00:32:49] [SPEAKER_02]: gift shop top golf simulator bar pizza place I had not too much further away from the

[00:32:58] [SPEAKER_06]: like we talked about and all those things I would say in terms of like who is this hotel for

[00:33:05] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't think it's not for kids but I think that if you have young kids here they're not going

[00:33:12] [SPEAKER_06]: to appreciate it as much as the adults then young adults in your party will okay so it's a really

[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_04]: really good hangout hotel I will say I don't like a motel sort of vibe generally where you don't

[00:33:26] [SPEAKER_04]: have an interior hallway all of that sort of thing but I really like the things that they've

[00:33:31] [SPEAKER_04]: done at this hotel and I really appreciate the bar one of my favorite Disneyland memories is

[00:33:39] [SPEAKER_04]: that bar with Dan on one very memorable night when we just needed a couple drinks man

[00:33:48] [SPEAKER_02]: I remember that night we were still in line for our Halloween and probably yep

[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_02]: okay so we're gonna move on yeah the next in order of price across the street from Disneyland is up

[00:34:02] [SPEAKER_02]: the street a little bit on our boulevard next of McDonald's Camelot in and sweets with

[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_02]: 156 rooms and sweets total price for this particular room that night 1,038 for two adults one night

[00:34:15] [SPEAKER_06]: two day park hopper never stayed there but from where I can tell they have some semblance of

[00:34:25] [SPEAKER_06]: theming or they're trying I don't know if it's successful or not in comparison to the castle

[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_04]: sweets any any thoughts like yes yeah yeah yeah yeah what do you mean castle sweets what are

[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_06]: the castle in oh yeah no the the the the the themeings at the at the building it's at

[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_06]: the entrance yeah I believe the Camelot I'm trying to find it on expedient I believe that they have

[00:34:55] [SPEAKER_06]: some moderate theing in the rooms which is appreciated let's face it it's probably a utilitarian

[00:35:01] [SPEAKER_06]: kind of place I've heard nothing bad about it the room seems good um I have stayed at the tropical

[00:35:07] [SPEAKER_06]: canna which is the same owner so I would imagine similar kind of experience a lot of trying right

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_06]: no and that's the thing they there is try but there's not I mean it's it's got to make Donald's

[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_06]: in the parking lot what's beyond us like if you're if you're looking for down with McDonald's in the

[00:35:27] [SPEAKER_04]: parking lot I'm not saying that's a nice good location that's actually more trustworthy than a lot

[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_06]: hotels that I've totally not a negative I'm not I think people are too down about McDonald's

[00:35:36] [SPEAKER_06]: but what what I mean by that is it's kind of like if you want something that's like kind of

[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_06]: moderately themed to the kids will shut up about it and like it seems like a very utilitarian

[00:35:48] [SPEAKER_06]: kind of place that has just enough effort to make you feel like you are in fact staying in a Disney

[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_02]: is kind of place I guess most of them just from looking at the website and looking at some imagery

[00:36:02] [SPEAKER_02]: there's Kingrooms with sleeper sofas sleeper chairs it's pretty well appointed very new sort of

[00:36:08] [SPEAKER_02]: sleek and modern a lot of storage coffee maker flat screen TV and the mural behind the flat screen

[00:36:14] [SPEAKER_02]: TV is that of a castle right the walls on the other side are you know wallpaper brick

[00:36:20] [SPEAKER_02]: so there's a theme and I think this hotel like probably almost all of these hotels we're going to

[00:36:26] [SPEAKER_02]: talk about our very motel style you enter from outside right and across the street from the

[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_02]: for the old Disneyland it's it's so close yeah yeah yeah I think the only thing that I would say

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_06]: in terms of like what I try to talk someone out of staying there is just I mean if you want that

[00:36:44] [SPEAKER_06]: name specifically great totally do it but you realize it's maybe look at some other prices for

[00:36:51] [SPEAKER_06]: places that are kind of the same thing for cheaper a little thing from their website just because

[00:36:57] [SPEAKER_02]: we don't have first-hand experience is the Camelot in in suites is dedicated to providing guests

[00:37:03] [SPEAKER_02]: with a pleasant and enjoyable can are seeing environment during their vacation our terrace level

[00:37:10] [SPEAKER_02]: pool features a sundak with jacuzzi where guests may enjoy the beautiful southern California weather

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_02]: and a view of the Matterhorn Bob's Leds and Disneyland Resort fireworks for our guest convenience

[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_02]: we offer complimentary wifi and on site laundry facilities that's nice let's get on the property

[00:37:26] [SPEAKER_02]: one stop mobility offers electric scooter wheelchair and stroller rentals right there on property

[00:37:32] [SPEAKER_02]: right but they'll deliver that's true also Merlin's marketplace which is a store one thing to

[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_06]: mention about all these is in terms of seeing the fireworks maybe not from your room but from the

[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_06]: property it's kind of effortless unless you're at the fair field yeah yeah well we'll get there

[00:37:55] [SPEAKER_02]: yes we will very soon very soon okay so terrace level pool I'm just trying to figure out if

[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_06]: until we get to the corctona and that's a while okay our candy game has free bargain all right

[00:38:16] [SPEAKER_04]: what's the situation not to just rail too a derail too much right now what is the situation

[00:38:21] [SPEAKER_04]: at Walt Disney World with parking at the resorts are we still in the free territory or we back

[00:38:27] [SPEAKER_02]: to fees no it's free okay yeah we're we're still in the it's free if you're staying on property

[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_06]: and generally you can use that around that area is gonna run you like 20 to 30 depending

[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_02]: it sounds about I would I would suspect that it's this whatever Disneyland parking is is what

[00:38:45] [SPEAKER_02]: I would tell parking is gonna be okay so that's camelat moving on to tropical canna and in

[00:38:51] [SPEAKER_02]: sweets also across the street also in the value category right now you've stayed there yes

[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_06]: it's I mean it's kind of copy and paste my comments about the other one it has a vaguely tropical

[00:39:02] [SPEAKER_06]: I mean they tried right I like it it's hard for me to divorce my opinion from

[00:39:10] [SPEAKER_06]: staying there when everything reopened and I was so excited about that and that's that's a big

[00:39:16] [SPEAKER_06]: part of the experience um so one thing that I mentioned about both of these is you can see the

[00:39:23] [SPEAKER_06]: you monorail coming and going into the park which is like I mean doesn't say anything about the

[00:39:28] [SPEAKER_06]: school stay but it's kind of it's a nice feeling to be like oh that's it there it is you know

[00:39:35] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah it's it's fine again nothing I would talk anyone out of but they I think for both of these

[00:39:43] [SPEAKER_06]: it's definitely something long lines of like maybe look at prices other places and

[00:39:49] [SPEAKER_06]: you could probably like if if Anna Hi Motel is cheaper than both of these I would say at the

[00:39:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Motel not heartbeat but yeah it's interesting their websites the uh can't a lot and the

[00:40:01] [SPEAKER_02]: tropicalna clearly have the same owner their websites are managed by the same people right uh the rooms

[00:40:06] [SPEAKER_02]: are similar rooms the instead of castles there's palm trees and I believe there's I've

[00:40:11] [SPEAKER_06]: of marketing cafe I don't know if castle in does or not but I believe Anna Hi Motel

[00:40:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Camelot and tropicalna have magic key holder just accounts I forgot to mention Anna Hi Motel has a

[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_06]: really good rewards program where you get basically I think it's 10% off of everything including

[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_06]: that's what I saw yeah yeah and for every six night you six nights you stay you get a free night

[00:40:35] [SPEAKER_04]: no nice so that's cumulative like you're not staying there for a week right it's cumulative yeah

[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_02]: oh that's cool uh hate to pull in jacuzzi it basically the features are the same as the Camelot

[00:40:46] [SPEAKER_02]: and and I mentioned also because the prices identical right yeah okay yeah I mean in terms of the

[00:40:54] [SPEAKER_06]: is this for our question it's do you want to be in a castle ishting or do you want to be in

[00:41:00] [SPEAKER_06]: the tropical thing they both give enough I guess enough of the feeling that you might be in a park

[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_06]: that is related to Disneyland in some way like they make an effort and it and it shows but

[00:41:12] [SPEAKER_06]: is it worth the difference in price sometimes you'd really win you know it's close it's close

[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_02]: they have food they have a pool yeah it's just south of the Camelot closer technically closer to

[00:41:27] [SPEAKER_02]: the entrance okay moving on to grand legacy of the park for one night two adults two-day

[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_06]: park offer is $1,662 I think a lot of the same things apply here I've never stayed there

[00:41:41] [SPEAKER_06]: I've again I've heard good things we're gonna be saying a lot of the same things however one thing

[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_06]: that appeals to me about this place is it's right next to a Tony Roma it's just getting

[00:41:52] [SPEAKER_06]: you know they have the they have a little shopping place down below where you can get various

[00:42:00] [SPEAKER_06]: sundries and they have pick up ribs you can pick up ribs at Tony Roma's and you might get better

[00:42:06] [SPEAKER_06]: ribs at Denny's next door to Tony Roma's and they have a bar slash restaurant on the roof

[00:42:13] [SPEAKER_06]: which I hear gets wild at night why haven't we been there yet Dan because it gets wild at night

[00:42:22] [SPEAKER_04]: and I like horse wear a tame at night yeah brisleepy I don't know no I'd rather go to bed

[00:42:29] [SPEAKER_06]: right and in terms of noise level it related to that I have heard that it can get loud if you are

[00:42:37] [SPEAKER_06]: in the front building on the top floor but that's just I've just heard it I don't know how true

[00:42:43] [SPEAKER_06]: that is it could have been just a very you know complaining type of person it's something to

[00:42:49] [SPEAKER_06]: consider but if you want to be part of that rock is energy then I mean maybe that's a place

[00:42:53] [SPEAKER_04]: you want to go maybe if that's my Vegas energy yeah downtown and I'm yeah if you want to you

[00:42:59] [SPEAKER_06]: know do some blow and you know party till 2 a.m. watch whatever it will well well yeah what leave the

[00:43:04] [SPEAKER_06]: eggs out of it I'm talking about blowing up balloons and making animals out of course of course

[00:43:09] [SPEAKER_02]: basically and legacy at the park is just north of Disney way basically on the intersection of Disney

[00:43:16] [SPEAKER_02]: way and and Harbor Boulevard also you can find Hana ho Hawaiian barbecue and local food there

[00:43:26] [SPEAKER_06]: in the back of very long time to make musubi which is weird but whatever there's the pink pig

[00:43:31] [SPEAKER_02]: boba pizza you've got anytime Hawaiian barbecue and local food mochi donut cafe a low hog gift mart

[00:43:40] [SPEAKER_02]: the fifth rooftop banded mention that yeah so it seems like a pretty nice hotel

[00:43:46] [SPEAKER_02]: interesting pool looks like a little zigzag pool situation with the zero entry

[00:43:52] [SPEAKER_06]: sometimes and a ton of your almost as dynamic exciting I think if someone were to think about staying

[00:43:57] [SPEAKER_06]: there and I were talking them through it I would ask them a non-confrontational way I just be at my

[00:44:02] [SPEAKER_06]: question would be okay why there yeah like no I mean that's I mean that's sincerely because

[00:44:08] [SPEAKER_06]: it is more expensive so are you going because you plan on going to the fifth upstairs or because

[00:44:15] [SPEAKER_06]: you want easy access to mochi or what if so it's it's like you asking me why would you stay at Disney

[00:44:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Land Hotel I'm like oh because of ambiance and pool yeah yeah I mean it's not a critical thing

[00:44:28] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm just saying that like this this is the sort of place that I mean if it's your go to because you

[00:44:35] [SPEAKER_06]: just love the towels or what would I find but the next door is you found your place yeah exactly

[00:44:42] [SPEAKER_06]: however if it's just like let's roll the die and see what comes up with grand legacy okay well

[00:44:48] [SPEAKER_06]: you can probably find the same sort of stay if you're not looking for that other stuff

[00:44:56] [SPEAKER_02]: at one of the other places for cheaper okay one of them in places we've said everything we've

[00:45:02] [SPEAKER_02]: talked about before now is cheaper than what we just talked about right uh the next selection is the

[00:45:09] [SPEAKER_02]: fair field in and sweets by Maria all so across the street can I just add another thought to that

[00:45:15] [SPEAKER_06]: sure if you're going at that on top of that or in addition to that if you're going with someone who

[00:45:19] [SPEAKER_06]: it's like it's their 20th 21st birthday or like your it's you know graduation or like something

[00:45:26] [SPEAKER_06]: where like we're gonna like we're gonna make use of the stuff absolutely that's probably the best place

[00:45:32] [SPEAKER_04]: you could stay oh sorry I got a little more room you gotta color bar right what you're going for

[00:45:39] [SPEAKER_06]: well it's just a cooler place I don't think you're like early 20 year old child or

[00:45:47] [SPEAKER_04]: nature nest you 20 year old child in it's is 20th birthday it's my birthday I do the 21 year

[00:45:54] [SPEAKER_06]: real thing I don't think that they I think that they would roll it I think you would hear their eyes roll

[00:45:59] [SPEAKER_06]: less there than at like the anti-motel the anti-motel would be like sure how much we have for

[00:46:05] [SPEAKER_06]: that weird creepy like it's just old it's just it's this reminds me of like someone trying to tell

[00:46:12] [SPEAKER_06]: me why I should enjoy swingers but then like grand legacy it's like okay I can see how my stupid

[00:46:19] [SPEAKER_06]: adult parent would actually think that this is cool I'm sorry you don't enjoy swingers

[00:46:23] [SPEAKER_04]: it's the best to be one that's that was it's a no kidding alright so the fair field in

[00:46:29] [SPEAKER_02]: sweets is a maria brand uh dan and I've stayed there a couple of times um I think we mentioned

[00:46:36] [SPEAKER_02]: it on the show this hotel is across the street from Disneyland sure is the art on the wall

[00:46:44] [SPEAKER_02]: that's right it's themed it's themed the this Cinderella castle is there the earfold tower

[00:46:52] [SPEAKER_02]: from mgm studios is there so the lot of Walt Disney World all of the things that remind

[00:46:56] [SPEAKER_02]: you of Disneyland uh murals on the wall as far as a maria loyalist like I am you don't really get

[00:47:03] [SPEAKER_02]: much there's no onsite hotel or excuse me no onsite restaurant no concierge lounge it is a motel

[00:47:09] [SPEAKER_02]: across the street from Disneyland I think you pay the price you pay because of the brand

[00:47:15] [SPEAKER_02]: it's in the same parking lot with the McDonald's as was the Camelot actually this one's at the

[00:47:21] [SPEAKER_06]: parking lot as the panera the panera for the McDonald's you have to walk around a fence oh that's true

[00:47:27] [SPEAKER_02]: correct but there's a place harder to get to the McDonald's adjacent to the mimi's so I

[00:47:32] [SPEAKER_06]: i've stayed at a number of mariaats with your Jimmy and just one is the most basic bitch of all of them

[00:47:39] [SPEAKER_06]: indeed and yep it had very much has dad staying on his mariaot points vibe that's 100% what we did

[00:47:49] [SPEAKER_02]: and we were in a park view quote unquote park view room could not see the fireworks

[00:47:54] [SPEAKER_04]: there was a small chunk of the matterhorn from your your patty apps perhaps it's it's it's

[00:48:01] [SPEAKER_06]: fine and the most basic definition of that word it's it's um is it a bad place to stay no i i

[00:48:08] [SPEAKER_06]: think it being a kind of catch all for families who have maria points as well as business travelers

[00:48:15] [SPEAKER_06]: who might spend a day at the park it makes for a very weird blend of people and that also makes it

[00:48:21] [SPEAKER_06]: very difficult to navigate um try yeah good luck getting an elevator yes oh no um the stay itself

[00:48:29] [SPEAKER_06]: not bad and they're super friendly they they they tried but like yep nice gift shop it's not bad but

[00:48:35] [SPEAKER_06]: if someone again going to the if someone we're talking about staying there my first response would be

[00:48:42] [SPEAKER_02]: is there nothing else available yeah that's okay we're gonna take the next two and we're

[00:48:49] [SPEAKER_02]: gonna lump them together same owners right next door to each other both our best westerns we have

[00:48:54] [SPEAKER_02]: the best western plus anaheim in and the best western plus park place in and mini sweets

[00:49:00] [SPEAKER_02]: the price difference between the two is about a hundred and twelve dollars

[00:49:07] [SPEAKER_04]: those are a lot was five feet a very expensive right that's right um i was impressed with

[00:49:15] [SPEAKER_04]: their ability to have a breakfast throw at one of them and the other one where they didn't have a

[00:49:21] [SPEAKER_04]: breakfast they could deliver breakfast from the other place I remember that and that was pretty cool

[00:49:28] [SPEAKER_04]: there wasn't yeah that wasn't bad like you're staying at the cheaper place slightly further south

[00:49:33] [SPEAKER_04]: and you can get breakfast from the other place if you don't want to leave your room and we're talking

[00:49:38] [SPEAKER_06]: really like literally a driveway difference yeah right yeah i mean i mean and that's the street

[00:49:45] [SPEAKER_02]: right that that's the street you cross to get to Disneyland and right the one the more expensive one is

[00:49:51] [SPEAKER_06]: except for one of my honorable mentioned places that i'll mention later it is the closest hotel

[00:49:57] [SPEAKER_06]: to Disneyland possibly including on property to Disneyland park there are on property

[00:50:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Disney hotels that are much further away yeah i want to make two two points really quick

[00:50:13] [SPEAKER_02]: or spell less like cigarettes it's amazing yeah when i come back to that it's amazing that sorry

[00:50:19] [SPEAKER_02]: it's amazing that um go ahead i lost the font sorry the fairfield in we stay Dan that that

[00:50:26] [SPEAKER_02]: stay i got points because i'm a very loyalist right and i got enough points during that stay to pay

[00:50:32] [SPEAKER_02]: for my wife and her friends to stay at another maria brand on this past Monday for a free stay

[00:50:40] [SPEAKER_02]: also i did the math incorrectly the difference between the best western plus anaheim in

[00:50:45] [SPEAKER_02]: the best western plus park place and in many sweets is twenty two dollars not one hundred and

[00:50:50] [SPEAKER_02]: twelve dollars okay that's a little better but your to your point Eric we toured both of these

[00:50:54] [SPEAKER_02]: properties i think we'd mentioned this the this new need snoodyness of the general manager

[00:50:59] [SPEAKER_02]: because the water wasn't cool because of aggressive snoodyness that's right and he was British

[00:51:04] [SPEAKER_02]: and uh it grew and all the things and it did not smell like smoke anymore but it looked and felt

[00:51:12] [SPEAKER_06]: like it still did i think it's a cleaner issue i think they use a brand specific cleaner

[00:51:18] [SPEAKER_06]: that we as a so the the best western hotel smell if especially if you grew up in it before

[00:51:25] [SPEAKER_06]: a certain generation it would always smell like a certain cleaner i think it's something that they use

[00:51:32] [SPEAKER_06]: a lot of air conditioning and cigarettes smoke like stale cigarettes i have always loved that smell

[00:51:40] [SPEAKER_06]: because it reminds me of the case rings back memories really isn't that bad yeah so what we found

[00:51:47] [SPEAKER_06]: as we were touring this is that if you have smelled that trifecta of smells before even though

[00:51:54] [SPEAKER_06]: they no longer have smoking in their rooms it's like if you get two out of the three your brain will

[00:52:01] [SPEAKER_02]: create the third one that's right that's not that's been correct very fun okay so moving on for seven

[00:52:07] [SPEAKER_02]: dollars more for seven dollars more than the best western plus park place in and many

[00:52:13] [SPEAKER_02]: sweets in this particular package for seven dollars more you can stay at the candy cane in

[00:52:19] [SPEAKER_02]: worth it holy cow i love this place yes of dandid mentioned free parking that's 25 let's call

[00:52:27] [SPEAKER_02]: it $30 a night free shuttle no have to wait for art or pay for art free breakfast and it's close enough

[00:52:34] [SPEAKER_06]: that you really even even i would make fun of you for not walking but i would take the shuttle back

[00:52:39] [SPEAKER_02]: i would totally take a shuttle back i mean it's free parts there i mean if the if the shuttle

[00:52:43] [SPEAKER_06]: sitting there why not even take the time in works why not absolutely but yeah yeah like i just want

[00:52:49] [SPEAKER_06]: it's so close that me a fat guy would absolutely mock you for being like whoa hold on we got

[00:52:55] [SPEAKER_06]: away from the shuttle if you're going there however if you're coming back to 100% take the shuttle

[00:53:00] [SPEAKER_04]: friend of the show Lynn baron this is his favorite hotel they sell copies of cleaning the

[00:53:06] [SPEAKER_02]: kingdom there hey there's a hundred and seventy one rooms at this hotel there's a reason why

[00:53:13] [SPEAKER_02]: in this category that the candy cane in is there are only two hotels that are more expensive than

[00:53:21] [SPEAKER_02]: the candy cane in but yeah i think to your point worth every penny i think so far go ahead if you

[00:53:28] [SPEAKER_06]: stay at a one one there are more deluxe rooms they will bring breakfast to you you just have to order it

[00:53:35] [SPEAKER_04]: what this isn't like room service this is just you just let me let me go scoop some scrambled eggs out of

[00:53:42] [SPEAKER_06]: the pan right and yeah but do you but this is this is you tell them i want this this and this

[00:53:47] [SPEAKER_06]: from the buffet and i want this this and this for that person like and they according to i think

[00:53:53] [SPEAKER_06]: it's provost or i think it was provost they will bring it they will bring the things to you

[00:53:59] [SPEAKER_06]: be like hey we got it's not just like hey instead of going in the breakfast buffet i will bring

[00:54:05] [SPEAKER_06]: you some like you know stale granola bars and that's breakfast delivery like you tell

[00:54:11] [SPEAKER_04]: what you want they will bring it to you that's incredible considering that the breakfast buffet is

[00:54:15] [SPEAKER_06]: like twenty feet away from any room totally and i love that they i really like the concept

[00:54:21] [SPEAKER_06]: of them doubling down on convenience like this yeah like we're really close but we're going to

[00:54:26] [SPEAKER_04]: give you a trolley like it's just like okay this is awesome these people really really lean into it i

[00:54:32] [SPEAKER_02]: i love this and i think it's probably worth yeah i would perhaps argue your best bang for your buck

[00:54:41] [SPEAKER_02]: in the conversation we've had so far as the castlin and sweets best bang yeah best bang for your

[00:54:47] [SPEAKER_06]: buck with the exception of my uh our well mentions which won't count um i would say that

[00:54:54] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah because it's not if that's the thing it's not a bad place to stay by any stretchers

[00:54:59] [SPEAKER_02]: you're probably not going to be in the room a ton right but if you're going to be in the room

[00:55:04] [SPEAKER_06]: a ton then you know think about i think if you are going to be at the at the property like a lot

[00:55:08] [SPEAKER_06]: if you're looking like hey we're going to hang out or we're with the group of friends that haven't

[00:55:13] [SPEAKER_06]: each other in a long time and we're saying for like four days and there's going to be some

[00:55:17] [SPEAKER_06]: part time something maybe we're recording a podcast in our room like then Anna-hi-motelle i would say

[00:55:23] [SPEAKER_02]: that's probably the place to go you know but then when you start adding in the cost for breakfast

[00:55:29] [SPEAKER_02]: the cost for transportation the cost for parking yeah yeah yeah i'll send the cancun in might be

[00:55:33] [SPEAKER_02]: the best value resort wow in this conversation it just would be just for some relevance and

[00:55:41] [SPEAKER_02]: first and first in comparison okay the the candy cane in is across the street from that empty

[00:55:47] [SPEAKER_02]: lot but i keep talking about just north of that empty lot is the camp as the castle in in

[00:55:52] [SPEAKER_02]: sweets the the amount of physical walking between the castle in in sweets in Disney land

[00:56:00] [SPEAKER_02]: is the same distance as it takes you to cross the street so virtually they are identical distance

[00:56:08] [SPEAKER_02]: so the distance away from Disneyland the candy cane in is the same distance as you'd have to

[00:56:14] [SPEAKER_02]: cross the street so yeah i'm just as far as actual steps go candy cane in is the same distance

[00:56:20] [SPEAKER_06]: as castle in sweet also fun to have it they get booked really really quickly no kidding

[00:56:25] [SPEAKER_06]: 171 rooms yeah so like book as if you know you're going any year make the reservation now

[00:56:33] [SPEAKER_02]: agreed if i'm sorry uh okay moving on we have two more excuse me one more hotel that is

[00:56:41] [SPEAKER_02]: in the proximity category at Disneyland resort and that is of course the Anna Howard Johnson

[00:56:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Anna I'm a hotel and water playground people seem to love it i've actually stayed there so a

[00:56:55] [SPEAKER_02]: um a couple of times and uh okay so it's a Howard Johnson's which i didn't realize existed still

[00:57:03] [SPEAKER_04]: i'd love to do a whole thing on the Howard Johnson's brand because what a storied history but yeah like

[00:57:10] [SPEAKER_04]: this is one of the few Howard Johnson's left yes and there are a hundred and sorry i take that back

[00:57:18] [SPEAKER_02]: yes for agreeing with me i agree with you it's an interesting place it is very unique um they

[00:57:26] [SPEAKER_02]: the it's it's just weird it's like a moment in time it's very 50-60s and they they doubled down

[00:57:35] [SPEAKER_02]: on that like yeah no whole thing together a little benefit yeah little paper hat with a pirate shape

[00:57:42] [SPEAKER_02]: you know a couple of different buildings rooms are fine it is not motelty it's a hotel so in general

[00:57:49] [SPEAKER_02]: you enter from a hallway give shop mimi's cafe um it's about as it's probably the same proximity

[00:57:58] [SPEAKER_02]: to the front gate as would be the castle and or the candy cane you know it's roughly a half

[00:58:04] [SPEAKER_02]: mile yeah just on the other side yeah yeah yeah it is the most expensive in this category of the

[00:58:11] [SPEAKER_02]: it's $1,164 for one night and one adult love it um it's the most expensive in the category

[00:58:20] [SPEAKER_02]: as far as proximity goes it's fine um yeah it's it the service is great people are friendly

[00:58:28] [SPEAKER_02]: nothing special on the amenities good gift shop no food no lounge no nothing yeah which towers have

[00:58:36] [SPEAKER_06]: the possibility of an actual park view it's it's one and two right uh great question i i

[00:58:43] [SPEAKER_02]: i think it won and it might be too i got a room that was on the top floor and they had these arched

[00:58:49] [SPEAKER_02]: ceilings and they they warned me like your room has arched ceilings you're gonna go a lot of

[00:58:55] [SPEAKER_02]: but we have no way to cover those arched windows and so you will get a lot of light all the

[00:59:01] [SPEAKER_02]: sold they don't have curtains you know i've curtains in the art this is like a 15 foot ceilings right

[00:59:06] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah it really nice looks yeah the room was amazing but couldn't damp that out so basically

[00:59:12] [SPEAKER_04]: it was like all the time um there's also the super crazy sweet the midmod sweet which is

[00:59:22] [SPEAKER_04]: themed after it vaguely Disney themed but um extra extra 60s themed area that you can only

[00:59:33] [SPEAKER_06]: i think yet for like one night at a time and now i don't have any kids that i know of

[00:59:41] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah by the way if anyone actually makes that joke don't don't communicate with them

[00:59:47] [SPEAKER_04]: if anyone thinks that uh their child is Dan please contact us i have six out of you so um

[00:59:55] [SPEAKER_06]: having said that this feels like the most i have a kid and i want my kid to have fun at

[01:00:03] [SPEAKER_06]: the hotel kind of hotel within all these because they have the water they have the water

[01:00:09] [SPEAKER_02]: water plears yeah no water plears and it's cool yes i didn't go in

[01:00:17] [SPEAKER_04]: because i felt really creepy about it and you can see the matter horn and you can see you definitely

[01:00:22] [SPEAKER_04]: can i saw fireworks from my room saw the matter horn i feel like if the money if if if

[01:00:29] [SPEAKER_04]: kids love me these by the way no of course love is it still open it's still i don't know

[01:00:34] [SPEAKER_06]: i've been to a Mimi's I love Mimi so much i don't know why um next time i think it's because

[01:00:41] [SPEAKER_06]: i had ex-bentendic for the first time there and i love ex-bentendic um that's your

[01:00:47] [SPEAKER_06]: connection i i like things for better reasons yeah he does it's true when i like things

[01:00:55] [SPEAKER_06]: i really really like them and then that it introduces all sorts of weird associations

[01:01:01] [SPEAKER_03]: which is such a few who listen to scraping the vault if he doesn't like them he really really

[01:01:05] [SPEAKER_04]: doesn't like wow okay complete complete side tangent the time that i had breakfast with Dan

[01:01:12] [SPEAKER_04]: was at the maria that we were staying at with Jimmy jimmy bailed

[01:01:18] [SPEAKER_04]: bailed us in left to fly back to Georgia because you have to do that at my back too i am

[01:01:23] [SPEAKER_04]: to get back there about that and um we went to breakfast and we were we we had our we had

[01:01:32] [SPEAKER_04]: our free vouchers as part of the stay and everything because jimmy has the a card that could double

[01:01:37] [SPEAKER_04]: as an inch of star it was it was a good time at breakfast but then the the the waiter comes

[01:01:43] [SPEAKER_04]: up and asks what kind of toast i would like with my meal and i said rye and Dan's response was

[01:01:51] [SPEAKER_04]: is that a kind of toast where you're from and i can't get that out of my head say that

[01:02:00] [SPEAKER_04]: to you or to the waiter he said that to me is that a kind of toast where you're from

[01:02:07] [SPEAKER_04]: every time i have rye toast which is awesome because that's definitely a type of toast where i'm from

[01:02:15] [SPEAKER_04]: i'm not from the land of sourdough and honey forever more i will hear Dan going

[01:02:26] [SPEAKER_04]: what the hell is that kind of toast you're ordering rye rye what are you doing it's kind of

[01:02:33] [SPEAKER_06]: rye thing i love rye but like i would never in a million years expect it to be available for toast

[01:02:40] [SPEAKER_02]: well a couple of things to that to then this is different episode on a different day and we'll get there

[01:02:46] [SPEAKER_02]: the rye toast and i'm the and i'm the the and i'm married sweet episode oh gosh i will get to

[01:02:52] [SPEAKER_02]: that on the adventures of the area and the interest of time we're not even halfway done with all the

[01:02:56] [SPEAKER_02]: hotels so i'd like to move on to Disney world in the same category value resorts with proximity

[01:03:02] [SPEAKER_02]: there are two to choose from the pop century and the art of animation resort

[01:03:08] [SPEAKER_02]: the the reason they have proximity is because they are in this case quote unquote across the street

[01:03:13] [SPEAKER_02]: there is a skyliner access between the two resorts that will take you to the front gate of

[01:03:19] [SPEAKER_02]: abcott and the or suit me the back gate of abcott and the front gate of Hollywood studios

[01:03:23] [SPEAKER_02]: one might argue that if you're staying at Disney land you're staying in the castle in its

[01:03:28] [SPEAKER_02]: seats or the candy cane in you're walking roughly three half a mile three quarters of a mile

[01:03:35] [SPEAKER_02]: to the esplanade to the main entrance okay in the case of pop century or art of animation

[01:03:41] [SPEAKER_02]: you could be staying in a room where you would have to walk half a mile to three quarters of a mile

[01:03:47] [SPEAKER_02]: to get to the front gate of one of those parks in that you're walking to the skyliner

[01:03:52] [SPEAKER_02]: then you're transferring from the skyliner at the Caribbean beach to another skyliner to get

[01:03:57] [SPEAKER_02]: an abcott we have to walk another you know hundred yards or to Hollywood studios you're

[01:04:02] [SPEAKER_02]: at a walk coming out of your arts point being I would argue as far as walking goes there equal proximity

[01:04:09] [SPEAKER_02]: so um i think the point out which i think is interesting that i didn't really come up until we

[01:04:14] [SPEAKER_02]: started exploring this is the pop century resort um has quite a few towers down air it will talk a

[01:04:21] [SPEAKER_02]: little bit about the pop century um we've all stayed there um what i thought was interesting is when

[01:04:26] [SPEAKER_02]: looked at pricing the the same parameters of uh one night octogus twelve twenty twenty five two

[01:04:33] [SPEAKER_02]: adults two day park hopper is nine hundred and seventy five dollars at the pop century okay now reminding

[01:04:41] [SPEAKER_02]: people back to the discussion we just had about the Disneyland ones the least expensive option

[01:04:47] [SPEAKER_02]: that is in the proximity category was the castle and in suites that total package price was nine

[01:04:53] [SPEAKER_02]: hundred and thirty dollars um so nine hundred and thirty versus the nine seventy five okay

[01:05:02] [SPEAKER_02]: then we've lost versus walking to a park okay right yeah so we're doing proximity category nine

[01:05:08] [SPEAKER_02]: thirty versus nine seventy five uh then when you get down a little bit further um and i'm hotel

[01:05:14] [SPEAKER_02]: was nine fifty nine versus nine seventy five and then you get into the next one camelot in in

[01:05:20] [SPEAKER_02]: weeks is a thousand thirty eight so so and then six others that are more expensive than the

[01:05:28] [SPEAKER_02]: pop century what's interesting to me is that the Disney world ticket prices are less expensive per

[01:05:35] [SPEAKER_02]: day then are Disney land ticket prices and i think that's again i think it's supply and demand

[01:05:42] [SPEAKER_02]: but it's just a point of fact observation no commentary around it just thought it was interesting

[01:05:48] [SPEAKER_04]: so pop century resort airic what do you got well uh if you will indulge me for just a moment

[01:05:55] [SPEAKER_02]: i will you are attention please and as much as i would love to continue this conversation about

[01:06:05] [SPEAKER_02]: the proximity of the hotels that Disney world compared to the proximity of the hotels at Disneyland

[01:06:11] [SPEAKER_02]: this will be a three hour episode which none of us want to listen to or continue to record

[01:06:15] [SPEAKER_02]: i do we all want to listen to it let's be honest but in sections so what we're going to do is

[01:06:21] [SPEAKER_02]: we're going to continue this story on the next installment of the supreme resort before we go however

[01:06:28] [SPEAKER_02]: when we look at the Disneyland travel agent website Disney travel agent website and we look at

[01:06:34] [SPEAKER_02]: the fifty eight hotels that are listed as good neighbor hotels that does not include every hotel

[01:06:39] [SPEAKER_02]: that is available to you in the anaheim resort area so we would like to invite Dan

[01:06:45] [SPEAKER_02]: to share some of his honorable mentioned frosted tips of hotels that you cannot book

[01:06:51] [SPEAKER_02]: through Disney but are he's talking about the bad name these are bad name hotels the bad boy isn't

[01:06:57] [SPEAKER_02]: bad that's right these are the six flags of hotels so Dan's going to share a couple of honorable

[01:07:03] [SPEAKER_02]: mentions that don't count as far as a point system before ever going to do so oh yeah but

[01:07:08] [SPEAKER_02]: he's going to share some good examples of hotels that you might want to consider that Disney does not

[01:07:13] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah and this is totally just the uh they the uh off-spring has i guess the word i'm going to use

[01:07:18] [SPEAKER_06]: of me you know visiting these places for past three years places that i've stayed that like are

[01:07:23] [SPEAKER_06]: very reliable and i understand why they might not be someone's first choice but they are

[01:07:29] [SPEAKER_06]: absolutely reasonably good choices are you saying the kids aren't all right saying the kids are

[01:07:35] [SPEAKER_06]: absolutely not all right they are all eating cats on the streets um so the the first thing oh and we

[01:07:42] [SPEAKER_06]: forgot to mention also that some of these are in very easy proximity to the garden walk which

[01:07:47] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah sucks but it has stuff you know um but anyway one of them is there another Tony room

[01:07:55] [SPEAKER_06]: there's the Tim room as this is brother um one of these places that is actually right next to

[01:08:02] [SPEAKER_02]: garden walk which is a little fancier it's Anthony romance so white linen tablecloth fancier

[01:08:09] [SPEAKER_06]: oh wow jeepie ribs with a fork in there there's ribs of only uh it's animals that are

[01:08:16] [SPEAKER_02]: indian drafts exactly yeah oh wow it's scary exotic animal Anthony romance go ahead these places

[01:08:24] [SPEAKER_06]: that is pretty much right next to garden walk i've stayed here several times while i do not

[01:08:31] [SPEAKER_06]: like that their beds are very very hard that's a me problem not a them problem kings in

[01:08:37] [SPEAKER_06]: if you're looking for a place to stay that is just a place to stay it is very close it looks

[01:08:43] [SPEAKER_06]: run down it looks gross you're gonna get the impression that you get but it's a very well-run place

[01:08:49] [SPEAKER_06]: very reasonably usually very reasonable prices weird cancellation policies to look out for that

[01:08:55] [SPEAKER_06]: but um kings and if you're just looking for a reasonably good place to stay that's cheap as

[01:09:01] [SPEAKER_06]: many of us have look at that another place that i have also stayed at that is kind of the same

[01:09:08] [SPEAKER_06]: it's almost exactly the same but uh on the other side of uh of the park is the uh and a hind discovery

[01:09:18] [SPEAKER_06]: in um again kind of hard beds but that's me problem not a them problem um i've stayed there a

[01:09:25] [SPEAKER_06]: time it's very clean very reasonable very friendly weird things to happen with motels like sometimes

[01:09:31] [SPEAKER_06]: the water pressure isn't exactly how you want it or sometimes like it's hard to know where the hot water

[01:09:38] [SPEAKER_06]: is on the that you know motel problems that are normal that you normally cutters the way through

[01:09:44] [SPEAKER_06]: that's the hotest these are all things that you we've all dealt with like at no point

[01:09:48] [SPEAKER_06]: did i feel like i was gonna get murdered by a guy in a clown suit um right next door to it is the

[01:09:54] [SPEAKER_06]: motel and i've heard basically that's kind of just exactly the same kind of thing those two by the

[01:10:00] [SPEAKER_06]: way are very close to uh marries pizza and pasta which is one of the best Italian places i've

[01:10:07] [SPEAKER_06]: ever eaten at expect to wait at least 45 minutes for your food but it's good um and then another

[01:10:13] [SPEAKER_06]: place that i haven't stayed at but i've heard nothing but good things about is the park view in

[01:10:18] [SPEAKER_06]: which is the closest place to uh the front gate by again a few feet but it's um it's like it's

[01:10:29] [SPEAKER_06]: right there they they're so apparently they're really good but you can't book them on

[01:10:33] [SPEAKER_06]: like speed they they very much they they kind of either they're so good that they can afford to not care

[01:10:41] [SPEAKER_06]: or they don't know what they're doing i think it's more likely the first one

[01:10:46] [SPEAKER_06]: it probably is the farthest you go when you look up a breakfast place and they close it to

[01:10:51] [SPEAKER_06]: you're like that's gonna be a good breakfast i think like we we don't want to do lunch we don't

[01:10:58] [SPEAKER_01]: want to do dinner there's no desire anyway i'll also has a cold stone creamer right so you can

[01:11:06] [SPEAKER_02]: you can sleep in ice cream right type of creamer me yeah that's right park view in that's interesting

[01:11:13] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah that's not on the DTA site awesome well Dan is at all the honorable mentions

[01:11:20] [SPEAKER_01]: all the honorable mentions all the time wonderful there's an i-hop right there oh it's that place oh

[01:11:28] [SPEAKER_06]: my god i forgot another place i'm glad you asked um uh very very close as well is the del

[01:11:34] [SPEAKER_06]: soul and that's uh for those of you who go there frequently or know the area it's the place behind

[01:11:39] [SPEAKER_06]: the denies that you kind of always wonder if it's an actual hotel or not it is i've stayed there it's

[01:11:45] [SPEAKER_06]: if you can get a good price there it's you can actually sometimes land on some really good deals there

[01:11:51] [SPEAKER_06]: and it is it's like basically also across so we're talking like best western proximity

[01:11:57] [SPEAKER_06]: at sometimes really good prices so just have it on your radar is the uh suncoast is the suncoast

[01:12:07] [SPEAKER_04]: next episode i would imagine it is the the slightly further away i think it's still a good damn

[01:12:12] [SPEAKER_02]: it is a it is a uh it is slightly further away it is not in this category

[01:12:18] [SPEAKER_02]: it's gonna probably be in the next category so to that end thank you for bringing it up

[01:12:24] [SPEAKER_02]: but we're the next episode we're gonna continue on with the hotels that are in close proximity

[01:12:29] [SPEAKER_02]: by skyliner which are the pop-centric and art of animation resort and then we're gonna go back

[01:12:34] [SPEAKER_02]: to Disneyland to the value resorts that are more than a half a mile away from Disneyland and then we'll

[01:12:39] [SPEAKER_02]: go to the all-star resort and then we're going to go through the next categories now Disney land

[01:12:46] [SPEAKER_02]: considers the next category from a value Disneyland calls it moderate

[01:12:53] [SPEAKER_02]: and then Disney world's moderate hotels the equivalent at Disneyland is the deluxe category

[01:12:59] [SPEAKER_06]: of preview of the Disneyland moderates or whatever the next category the deluxe Disneyland deluxe

[01:13:05] [SPEAKER_02]: courtyard by maria and i'm theme park entrance with the water park in it suncoast

[01:13:10] [SPEAKER_02]: park hotel anaheim that's a calmbria hotel in sweet is a deluxe

[01:13:17] [SPEAKER_02]: and then we got a lot and then the deluxe resorts at Disney world the equivalent

[01:13:21] [SPEAKER_02]: to Disneyland is the superior category so since deluxe since we are since we're already in

[01:13:29] [SPEAKER_06]: honorable lynch and territory i'll just go ahead and mention the air's hotel is fantastic

[01:13:34] [SPEAKER_06]: it's an orange you will need to drive but it's great i love that place dearly

[01:13:40] [SPEAKER_06]: and also the peppercre in which is also a place you're gonna need to drive from

[01:13:46] [SPEAKER_06]: it's almost in what's that town that's not very far from us then sorry point of

[01:13:54] [SPEAKER_06]: part it's basically in point of park very easy drive but you will need to drive

[01:13:59] [SPEAKER_06]: and you get a kitchen you get a patio it's it's it's if it were it fit or closer it would be my

[01:14:07] [SPEAKER_04]: favorite place this day but it's not so you're basically saying it's it's kind of like staying

[01:14:12] [SPEAKER_02]: at all star sports i suppose yeah yeah and then you get into what's interesting is like the

[01:14:19] [SPEAKER_02]: superior category for Disneyland the high-at-regency orange county weird as a superior more than a mile

[01:14:27] [SPEAKER_02]: is less expensive than the castle in in sweets but it's further away you get a better quality

[01:14:35] [SPEAKER_02]: room but that proximity makes a big difference all right and then we'll finish up with sweets

[01:14:40] [SPEAKER_02]: and the home away from home resorts when we start getting into superiors we're going to be

[01:14:44] [SPEAKER_02]: getting into Disneyland hotel grand california and et cetera which we've explored on the show so

[01:14:48] [SPEAKER_02]: we won't go into like the history of those hotels but rather in a category all right so that is

[01:14:54] [SPEAKER_02]: the show for today thank you very much for listening i personally this was probably the fastest

[01:15:00] [SPEAKER_02]: episode that i remember recording for the amount of time we've been recording this has gone by

[01:15:06] [SPEAKER_02]: very quickly when i look to the clock i'm like oh man it's been a long time hope right we just

[01:15:12] [SPEAKER_02]: been burn it through the middle right hopefully listen you agreed i think it's fascinating

[01:15:18] [SPEAKER_02]: clearly we have a lot more content as it relates to hotels and it's proximity at some point i think

[01:15:23] [SPEAKER_02]: we're going to probably land on the superior experiences maybe not overall Disneyland is better

[01:15:30] [SPEAKER_02]: than Disney world or whatever jimmy jimmy jimmy surprise thing we could probably come up with like

[01:15:38] [SPEAKER_06]: a top one or two maybe so yeah i think we landed there with the values at Disneyland right just to

[01:15:54] [SPEAKER_04]: so if do we need to do up is this our bracket i i said that in the text message earlier air you did send

[01:16:01] [SPEAKER_04]: that in a and now it suddenly be it's litifying yeah i think we're going to build up our new

[01:16:05] [SPEAKER_02]: practices our bracket yeah so for our march it mayhem whatever it's going to be called i think what

[01:16:11] [SPEAKER_02]: we'll do is we'll break it down like the 32 by division divisions are going to be west coast east

[01:16:18] [SPEAKER_02]: value moderate deluxe rohomoi from home and we'll pin those things i think we'll probably

[01:16:24] [SPEAKER_02]: end up with four per category right now i think castle in its wheat park excuse me not part few

[01:16:30] [SPEAKER_02]: candy cane indica and i'm a hotel and maybe one other but anyway i think more of that later

[01:16:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Howard Johnson of those probably tags gonna be a very biased

[01:16:41] [SPEAKER_04]: oh judge of this whole because i think that i think what we ended up landing on is

[01:16:49] [SPEAKER_06]: grand legacy is very specific to the type of people that might want to go perfect for a certain

[01:16:56] [SPEAKER_06]: type but not really a catch all and then uh tropical and a camo lot and fair feel don't like

[01:17:04] [SPEAKER_02]: don't give away too much okay um we're gonna leave it at that later soon gentlemen we'll get you

[01:17:11] [SPEAKER_02]: next time may not be the next episode but the next installment of the Disney land versus Disney

[01:17:17] [SPEAKER_02]: World hotels in the value category uh until next time the uh if you are interested anything we

[01:17:24] [SPEAKER_02]: said and anything seemed exciting to you and your planet of book and trick to Disney land or Disney

[01:17:28] [SPEAKER_02]: world hopefully you got some more informed information and you can make more informed decisions

[01:17:33] [SPEAKER_02]: about where to stay try to book as far out as you can because these things do book out for example

[01:17:39] [SPEAKER_02]: i'm looking at the date of August 12th 2025 and anaheim maria the hilton anaheim they're all

[01:17:47] [SPEAKER_02]: booked already they're already sold out so if you're interested in some of these hotels that

[01:17:52] [SPEAKER_02]: might interest you in the future please book as soon as you can whether use concierge or not

[01:17:56] [SPEAKER_02]: please use concierge if i'm six or six or six other shows from resort is this one scraping the

[01:18:02] [SPEAKER_02]: we did a moped-toned mansion which you should listen to um puny pot about marival okay uh

[01:18:11] [SPEAKER_02]: benthamilk podcast about star wars yours up is about Disneyland occasionally um and yeah so i'm

[01:18:20] [SPEAKER_02]: trying the the point of vista boys uh whatever anyway the point is everybody thanks for listening

[01:18:25] [SPEAKER_02]: I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did until next time be good to each other and court is adjourned

[01:19:06] [SPEAKER_04]: okay i'm leaving all these cops just get a pepperum throughout the episode

[01:19:14] [SPEAKER_04]: that was fun i'm glad we had that discussion because i would have kept going for another two

[01:19:20] [SPEAKER_04]: now right me too remember there was a liberation in your name stop talking over the theme that makes

[01:19:33] [SPEAKER_04]: it harder to edit yeah what do you think just keep talking it's fine okay
