The Case of the Value Resorts: Part 3

The Case of the Value Resorts: Part 3

In this, the final episode of the value resort saga, we explore the history or herstory of the 8 remaining value resorts in the Disneyland resort area 1/2 mile or more away from the resort.

We explore in more detail than you would care to know the Stovall inn family of brands and their history. Is there a coco's at the southwest corner of Katella and Disneyland drive? This is the kind of riveting history and detail we explore.

[00:00:15] Welcome to the Supreme Resort, Land V. World, a podcast about Disneyland and Walt Disney World and which is the Supreme Resort.

[00:00:27] Each episode we will discuss and explore each resort, ride by ride, land by land, park by park, to determine which is better.

[00:00:36] I'm your host and hetero robot, Jimmy, and thank you for joining me on this quest to help the greater good of humanity answer the long elusive question, which is better?

[00:00:46] Disneyland or Walt Disney World. Joining me as always is Eric.

[00:00:51] Hello, I am also Roma.

[00:00:56] And a hetero one at that and...

[00:01:00] No, no ladies for me. Wait, all the ladies for me.

[00:01:06] All the ladies.

[00:01:07] All ladies.

[00:01:08] That other voice you heard is Dan and Dan, am I right? Hetero is bettero.

[00:01:13] Oh yeah. I just want to say everyone, I've been playing a character this entire time.

[00:01:19] Elon Musk, please don't come after me for all the thought crimes that I've committed on this podcast.

[00:01:24] I think you're great.

[00:01:25] I think America's great.

[00:01:27] And it's just looking like it's going to get better and better in the next generation, I think.

[00:01:34] Well, it'll get great again, Dan.

[00:01:38] It'll get great again is what you mean.

[00:01:40] Yeah. Those words I cannot say because in my heart, it's always been great.

[00:01:48] That's right.

[00:01:49] Twelve.

[00:01:49] Again. It's always been great again.

[00:01:52] Anyone upset with me going on this patriotic diatribe?

[00:01:58] You fucking won. I don't know what to tell you.

[00:02:01] Please do it to Bully's playing for more on that.

[00:02:05] Uh-oh.

[00:02:07] Hey, so Eric, you recently had a trip to Walt Disney World and we, the listener, want to hear all about it.

[00:02:16] You're the listener?

[00:02:17] Oh, wow.

[00:02:18] Yeah, I'm a listener.

[00:02:18] That's great.

[00:02:19] Let me first talk about Universal and let me tell you.

[00:02:23] Dun, dun, dun.

[00:02:24] I can't listen to this. I can't.

[00:02:25] Oh, Dan took off his headphones.

[00:02:27] Dan's out?

[00:02:29] Yeah.

[00:02:29] Okay.

[00:02:30] He's out?

[00:02:30] This is a Disneyland podcast.

[00:02:33] A Disneyland Walt Disney World podcast.

[00:02:34] Oh, wait.

[00:02:35] Jimmy's laughing.

[00:02:35] Hold on.

[00:02:36] I got to hear.

[00:02:36] Okay.

[00:02:37] It was a ruse.

[00:02:39] It was a ruse.

[00:02:40] Oh, no.

[00:02:42] Got tricked again.

[00:02:42] I won't talk about Universal.

[00:02:45] Screw that place.

[00:02:48] Yeah.

[00:02:48] And I went to Epcot an awful lot and I ate a lot of things.

[00:02:56] So good.

[00:02:57] And they were good.

[00:02:57] Was it Food and Wine Festival?

[00:02:59] Uh-huh.

[00:02:59] Food and Wine Festival.

[00:03:01] What was your favorite?

[00:03:03] My favorite was the spam at Hawaii, which had been relocated, but was still pretty great.

[00:03:17] Where is it now?

[00:03:19] Well, it's now along the kind of main drag.

[00:03:24] As you head into the land, like the world show place, you would take a right and it is

[00:03:32] right there as opposed to being a little further down along the way toward imagination.

[00:03:39] Yeah.

[00:03:40] Got it.

[00:03:40] Okay.

[00:03:40] Yeah.

[00:03:41] Because it's always been that direction, but you say it's closer to the main drag, if you

[00:03:46] will.

[00:03:47] Correct.

[00:03:47] Yes.

[00:03:48] How was the journey of water?

[00:03:49] How was the journey of water?

[00:03:52] I did not journey into water on this particular trip.

[00:03:56] What?

[00:03:57] I have not journeyed into water since April.

[00:04:00] Hmm.

[00:04:01] I had one request.

[00:04:02] And then how was Walt's statue?

[00:04:04] Did you dream with him?

[00:04:05] I dreamt with him and I posed near him and you know what?

[00:04:12] I pooped near him.

[00:04:14] Oh.

[00:04:15] That's good.

[00:04:16] Not all that through my trust.

[00:04:18] No.

[00:04:19] Right there next to him.

[00:04:20] Yeah.

[00:04:20] Was the spam in Misubi form or is it just spam?

[00:04:24] No, it was spam and there were also noodles.

[00:04:29] Oh.

[00:04:29] Yeah.

[00:04:29] Okay.

[00:04:30] Yeah.

[00:04:32] How was Tron?

[00:04:33] How did you dip it into your wine?

[00:04:35] I did not dip anything into wine and I did not call on Tron.

[00:04:39] Isn't that what you do?

[00:04:39] No, you just walk around dipping food into wine and going, hmm.

[00:04:44] It's the food in wine festival.

[00:04:46] Right.

[00:04:46] Yeah.

[00:04:46] Yeah.

[00:04:48] Please give me my bucket.

[00:04:50] I prefer Pinot Noir.

[00:04:53] And I'm like, okay, fine.

[00:04:56] Most people want cab, but all right, fine.

[00:05:00] Did they put it in your Stanley cup when you asked?

[00:05:02] Nice.

[00:05:03] My Stanley cup?

[00:05:04] Oh, my Stanley popcorn bucket?

[00:05:07] Excelsior.

[00:05:08] Yeah.

[00:05:10] My Stanley cup bucket that looks like Stanley that is filled with, you know, noir.

[00:05:17] Yep.

[00:05:21] That's the merchandise we need to put out is a Stanley cup.

[00:05:27] That would be great.

[00:05:28] This is the whole quick place.

[00:05:28] Oh, does anybody have this?

[00:05:29] My Stanley cup?

[00:05:30] Here it is.

[00:05:34] Yeah, that's pretty good.

[00:05:35] I like that.

[00:05:35] It's just some old dude with glasses.

[00:05:37] Yeah.

[00:05:38] Yeah.

[00:05:39] Doesn't he have to look like him?

[00:05:41] Yeah.

[00:05:41] That's even better if he doesn't.

[00:05:43] He is dead.

[00:05:44] He can't defend himself.

[00:05:47] Oh, no.

[00:05:48] Sorry, Sam.

[00:05:49] I'm just, I'm just searching now.

[00:05:52] Here my.

[00:05:52] Here my.

[00:05:53] Here's Sam.

[00:05:57] Jimmy, what other questions do you have?

[00:05:59] Well, I was, I said specifically, I said, I haven't done these things I'd like to hear.

[00:06:05] Um, okay.

[00:06:07] So to make it simple, there's this mug that's got Stanley on it.

[00:06:16] Okay.

[00:06:16] I like, I like your idea better where it's like it, it's shaped like his head.

[00:06:21] Yeah.

[00:06:22] I want it to be plastic.

[00:06:24] Oh, somebody else already came up with the idea.

[00:06:26] Oh, on the backside, it says my Stanley cup.

[00:06:30] Damn it.

[00:06:30] No, it's still not molded.

[00:06:32] Yeah.

[00:06:33] No, if yeah, we got to mold it.

[00:06:35] Anyway, Stan.

[00:06:38] Oh, there is a Stanley with Stanley on it.

[00:06:42] Oh, Stanley from the office.

[00:06:44] A Stanley with Stanley on it.

[00:06:47] Oh, this is a good one right here.

[00:06:49] There's.

[00:06:50] Oh, that's horrifying.

[00:06:55] Yeah.

[00:06:55] Unfortunately, somebody has already come over there.

[00:06:58] Or we could do the hockey trophy.

[00:07:01] Just get like, they're like three feet tall.

[00:07:04] The Stanley cup.

[00:07:05] Yeah.

[00:07:06] Where we keep engraving things on it and everybody gets drunk and like knocks all the plaques off when they.

[00:07:12] That's right.

[00:07:12] Okay.

[00:07:13] That's right.

[00:07:14] Okay.

[00:07:14] So Eric, you went to Disney world.

[00:07:16] Any, anything else you want to report on in your trip?

[00:07:23] Dressing.

[00:07:25] Ranch.

[00:07:26] Italian.

[00:07:29] Russian.

[00:07:29] I like your name.

[00:07:30] Russian.

[00:07:31] Russian.

[00:07:32] Russian.

[00:07:32] Russian.

[00:07:32] Got it.

[00:07:32] Yeah.

[00:07:32] Yeah.

[00:07:33] Yeah.

[00:07:33] Balsamic.

[00:07:36] Going to Hollywood studios dressed as a Star Wars person.

[00:07:44] Yeah.

[00:07:44] Did we not talk about that last time?

[00:07:46] Yeah.

[00:07:47] Well, we, no, no, we didn't talk about it.

[00:07:48] We did talk about it after we had the takeover and it was our show image last time.

[00:07:53] That's right.

[00:07:54] Oh, yeah, that's right.

[00:07:55] Oh, yeah.

[00:07:56] Yes.

[00:07:56] We just saw everything.

[00:07:57] Well, then I don't have to talk about it.

[00:07:59] We're great.

[00:08:00] Yeah.

[00:08:01] Well, I give you a very specific list.

[00:08:03] I said, I have not done these things.

[00:08:05] I'd like a full report.

[00:08:06] And you did none of those.

[00:08:08] Correct.

[00:08:09] Okay.

[00:08:09] Yes.

[00:08:10] Yeah.

[00:08:11] That's our field reporter, Eric.

[00:08:13] Okay.

[00:08:13] Well, anyway, we're going to Disney world as a concierge group in February.

[00:08:22] Dan, I don't know if you'd like to join us.

[00:08:24] You're very welcome.

[00:08:25] I will only join if you call it feather wary.

[00:08:29] Feather wary.

[00:08:31] I can't.

[00:08:32] I have a real ass job now and I have things.

[00:08:35] If you pronounce it feather wary and you join us, then I'm willing to accept that.

[00:08:41] Yeah.

[00:08:42] Where are you staying, Eric?

[00:08:45] Riviera.

[00:08:46] Fancy.

[00:08:47] That's in Vegas.

[00:08:47] DVC.

[00:08:49] Yeah.

[00:08:49] Yeah.

[00:08:49] Points.

[00:08:50] I'm probably going to stay at Swan and or Dolphin.

[00:08:54] But anyway.

[00:08:55] Okay.

[00:08:56] So February concierge.

[00:08:58] I got nothing else.

[00:09:00] Yeah.

[00:09:01] I'm legitimately looking at my calendar for February and there's no way.

[00:09:05] Okay.

[00:09:06] Absolutely.

[00:09:06] No way I can do that.

[00:09:07] Well, if you get fired between now and then.

[00:09:10] Tell your students they can come with you.

[00:09:13] Oh, that's a great idea.

[00:09:14] Field trip.

[00:09:14] Hold on.

[00:09:15] Let me look at the students.

[00:09:17] Yeah.

[00:09:18] That one would hate it.

[00:09:19] That one would probably like it.

[00:09:22] That one would definitely be.

[00:09:25] They wouldn't like it at all.

[00:09:26] Yeah.

[00:09:27] No.

[00:09:27] Well, the ones that wouldn't like it, you can give them excused absences.

[00:09:31] It's true.

[00:09:32] Yeah.

[00:09:32] Okay.

[00:09:32] So now, ladies and gentlemen, on to our regularly scheduled programming.

[00:09:40] About hotels.

[00:09:41] With a new theme song by the Purple Stuff Jamboree.

[00:09:47] Purple Stuff Band.

[00:09:48] Is it time?

[00:09:49] Magical Band.

[00:09:50] Yes, it's your time.

[00:09:50] Is it time for that?

[00:09:51] Yeah.

[00:09:52] Yep.

[00:09:52] Okay.

[00:09:53] Okay.

[00:10:00] Yeah.

[00:10:01] Now, we don't have to talk over this.

[00:10:04] But we can.

[00:10:06] But we don't have to because we own it.

[00:10:09] I'll cut it all out.

[00:10:15] When I first heard it, I'm like, I know a lot about Disney content.

[00:10:21] And I don't know why I have never heard this song before.

[00:10:25] It's brilliant.

[00:10:26] What a great idea.

[00:10:27] To market.

[00:10:31] Oh, then you listen to the lyrics.

[00:10:33] Oh, even after I listen to the lyrics.

[00:10:39] This is my favorite part.

[00:10:41] Your health.

[00:10:42] The health checks.

[00:10:43] But then you could have a dead body.

[00:10:53] It's a good idea.

[00:11:10] I like that it covers all the resorts.

[00:11:14] Oh, yeah.

[00:11:14] Yeah.

[00:11:15] It covers good neighbors.

[00:11:16] Yeah.

[00:11:17] It does.

[00:11:17] It's perfect for this show.

[00:11:19] From a radiant flare to a budget charade.

[00:11:23] Magic Kingdom hotels.

[00:11:25] Pick your own parade.

[00:11:27] Pick your own parade.

[00:11:28] It's such a weird line to add.

[00:11:31] But for now it's hotels.

[00:11:33] Was that you or was that AI?

[00:11:35] AI.

[00:11:35] It's all AI.

[00:11:37] I mean, I gave it what to do and it followed directions.

[00:11:42] I mean, it's pretty great.

[00:11:44] I could just picture it from the 80s, maybe early 90s.

[00:11:48] Yep.

[00:11:49] With a lot of neon.

[00:11:52] A nondescript ethnic person dancing around.

[00:11:55] Mm-hmm.

[00:11:56] Sorry.

[00:11:56] Jimmy was just talking to us about a dream that he had.

[00:11:59] Keep going.

[00:12:00] Clothes are too baggy.

[00:12:01] Yep.

[00:12:02] Sunglasses are involved.

[00:12:03] Yep.

[00:12:03] And then what happened?

[00:12:05] And then they started singing about hotels.

[00:12:08] Oh.

[00:12:09] Interesting.

[00:12:10] I was describing the music video of this.

[00:12:13] Did he make out with a fish in this one?

[00:12:19] Do you mean...

[00:12:20] What?

[00:12:21] Do you mean Trumpy Bags?

[00:12:22] In the dream.

[00:12:22] Oh, you're continuing the dream idea.

[00:12:24] Yeah.

[00:12:25] Yeah.

[00:12:25] Okay.

[00:12:26] Oh, got it.

[00:12:26] Hi.

[00:12:27] Welcome back to Bad Improv with the Supreme Court.

[00:12:30] Yeah.

[00:12:31] Okay.

[00:12:31] Ladies and gentlemen.

[00:12:32] Jimmy didn't make out with a real fish.

[00:12:34] Boys and girls.

[00:12:35] This is the third and final installment of the value resorts of the Disneyland Disney World.

[00:12:44] As a reminder, episode one was the value resorts that were adjacent to Disneyland.

[00:12:50] And they're all good neighbors.

[00:12:52] Have to be listed as good neighbors.

[00:12:54] Episode two was...

[00:12:56] How good they are.

[00:12:56] Yes.

[00:12:56] A very enjoyable history and exploration of the value resorts at Walt Disney World.

[00:13:01] Episode three.

[00:13:03] The final episode is the value resorts at the Disneyland Resort that are half a mile and

[00:13:10] beyond to the Disneyland Resort.

[00:13:13] There are eight.

[00:13:14] One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight resorts to explore.

[00:13:19] We're going to start in order of price.

[00:13:23] Again, these prices were based on a random day in August for two adults, two-day park hopper,

[00:13:30] one night.

[00:13:33] The prices you might see in the listing here, ladies and gentlemen, that you can't see Dan and Eric,

[00:13:40] add $130 for a park hopper.

[00:13:42] So right now, the first hotel is the main gate, Motel 6, Anaheim Main Gate.

[00:13:48] There are 240 rooms in the hotel, $793 without park hopper.

[00:13:55] So let's call that $920 for two people, one night, mid-August, park hopper.

[00:14:05] I've stayed there many times, so I have a lot to say about this one.

[00:14:08] Dan has stayed there many times.

[00:14:09] Motel 6, Anaheim Main Gate.

[00:14:11] Dan?

[00:14:12] Yes.

[00:14:12] Tell us about the Motel 6, Anaheim Main Gate.

[00:14:15] Okay, so in terms of just the experience and staying there, if you've stayed at a Motel 6,

[00:14:23] you know what you're getting into.

[00:14:24] Did they leave the light on for you?

[00:14:26] They do leave the light on for you.

[00:14:28] And I don't mean this in a bad sense necessarily, but...

[00:14:33] You mean they left the cigarette on for you?

[00:14:37] Well, kind of.

[00:14:39] It's not...

[00:14:40] Okay, imagine the most median Motel 6 that you have ever stayed at.

[00:14:46] This is that.

[00:14:47] So it's not bad per se, but it's not good because it doesn't need to be, right?

[00:14:54] I've stayed at some pretty good Motel 6s, but...

[00:14:57] It's fine.

[00:14:58] And I mean that really in the most literal sense.

[00:15:01] It's fine.

[00:15:01] Okay.

[00:15:03] However...

[00:15:03] It's right on I-5.

[00:15:06] It's right on I-5, but...

[00:15:09] On Disney Way.

[00:15:10] Here's a fun tip.

[00:15:11] If you ask for the south building facing...

[00:15:18] Actually facing towards the pool, it's super quiet.

[00:15:22] Is it?

[00:15:23] It is.

[00:15:23] Oh, yeah.

[00:15:24] It's like...

[00:15:26] I mean, yeah, you hear people walking by and all that stuff, but you're going to hear that

[00:15:28] regardless.

[00:15:29] And I don't think anyone's going in that pool.

[00:15:32] Well, there are plenty of other things to do than go into that pool.

[00:15:37] Exactly.

[00:15:38] So basically, if you want a resort experience, this place is not for you.

[00:15:43] If you want a bed to sleep in, that is definitively what this is.

[00:15:49] They have beds.

[00:15:50] They have beds, yes.

[00:15:52] And I don't...

[00:15:53] And the beds are...

[00:15:55] They're comfortable enough.

[00:15:55] If you want a bed to sleep in, you're going to need some extra sheets because the sheets

[00:15:59] they...

[00:15:59] Sorry.

[00:16:00] Towels.

[00:16:01] Because the towels they give you are kind of like the old towels, the cheap towels that

[00:16:06] you get at like a gym.

[00:16:08] You know?

[00:16:08] The ones which is like...

[00:16:09] A little too small.

[00:16:10] Barely a towel.

[00:16:11] You know?

[00:16:12] Yeah.

[00:16:13] A little sandpapery.

[00:16:15] A little bit.

[00:16:16] But yeah, if you know...

[00:16:17] You've got to cover up your junk.

[00:16:18] I mean...

[00:16:19] Right.

[00:16:19] I mean, you're going to go to a theme park.

[00:16:22] So...

[00:16:23] But there are ways you can leverage this place to be...

[00:16:27] I mean, the quality is never going to go up, but it's okay.

[00:16:30] But...

[00:16:31] And there are ways to leverage it to make it better, which is south building, facing the

[00:16:37] pool, or if you want, and then park over around there.

[00:16:42] And there is a art shuttle that is a very, very, very short walk.

[00:16:49] Actually, there's two art stops.

[00:16:51] One by the Clementine, which we talked about, which is very close.

[00:16:55] It's like...

[00:16:55] I think I counted or timed the walk.

[00:16:58] It was literally two minutes from that south building.

[00:17:02] Wow.

[00:17:02] And there's another one.

[00:17:04] If you miss that stop, there's another one in the parking lot of Extended Stay America,

[00:17:11] which is just a little bit further down, and another one in front of the World Mark,

[00:17:17] which that art stop actually has two lines that hit it.

[00:17:22] So, not a bad idea to just go straight there.

[00:17:25] Okay.

[00:17:26] In terms of the stay experience, I mean, we already talked about it's Motel 6.

[00:17:31] It's kind of far from a lot of things that aren't other hotels.

[00:17:36] So, it's like...

[00:17:38] It's kind of you're in the middle of a food desert, a resort food desert.

[00:17:44] That's a mile walk.

[00:17:46] Yeah, it's a walk.

[00:17:47] The closest thing in terms of an actual place to get reasonable food would be probably...

[00:17:54] Let me see.

[00:17:55] It could be...

[00:17:56] I mean, the 7-Eleven is your best bet, if I'm being really honest.

[00:17:59] But then after that...

[00:18:00] I mean, but where is that?

[00:18:01] That's a hike.

[00:18:03] Is going to these other hotels or restaurants inside?

[00:18:07] Basically, if you're staying at the Motel 6, stop by somewhere on the way, if you're driving.

[00:18:13] Get some food for the room.

[00:18:15] They don't have a microwave, but there's one in the lobby.

[00:18:18] Again, it's fine.

[00:18:19] If you know how to deal with it, it can be actually a really good trip.

[00:18:23] But come prepared for it being what it is.

[00:18:29] Dan, what is this?

[00:18:32] Go ahead, Jimmy.

[00:18:33] Let me read the manager's picks of why this hotel is good.

[00:18:39] Close to Disney.

[00:18:41] Enjoy the attractions even more by saving on hotel rooms at Motel 6 and I'm Main Gate.

[00:18:45] Number two, do you have any Disney perks?

[00:18:49] When you stay at Motel 6 and I'm Main Gate, you'll have access to amenities like an outdoor hot tub,

[00:18:54] a shuttle that opens daily to Disneyland Resort for a small charge,

[00:18:58] and discounts Disneyland Resort tickets.

[00:19:02] Why is this a great location?

[00:19:04] It's close to Disney, and it's always a good price.

[00:19:07] It's also convenient to many other Anaheim attractions such as Angel Stadium, Beaches, and Knott's Berry Farm.

[00:19:14] Anaheim attractions such as Beaches and Knott's Berry Farm.

[00:19:20] Here's some of the amenities.

[00:19:22] Free Wi-Fi.

[00:19:23] Pets allowed.

[00:19:24] There's a restaurant nearby.

[00:19:25] Buy.

[00:19:26] Oh, wow.

[00:19:27] Buy what?

[00:19:27] They have accessible rooms.

[00:19:28] Free local calls, guys.

[00:19:30] Free local calls.

[00:19:31] Coin laundry.

[00:19:32] Free expanded cable.

[00:19:35] Kids stay free.

[00:19:37] Free coffee.

[00:19:37] Outdoor pool.

[00:19:38] Accessible rooms.

[00:19:39] Plus, elevator and vending machines.

[00:19:42] Mm-hmm.

[00:19:43] They do have those.

[00:19:43] One thing to keep in mind, they do charge for parking now, which I think is silly.

[00:19:48] How much?

[00:19:50] $20.

[00:19:50] $20, yeah.

[00:19:51] So, it is in some ways usually the cheapest, but if you take into consideration parking and

[00:20:00] you look at other places that include parking, and also if you're looking around and you're

[00:20:06] thinking like, basically, unless you want the absolute bare bones cheapest place, you

[00:20:14] should use this as your baseline for somewhere else.

[00:20:18] So, like, if this place is like, let's say, I don't know, $150 a night or whatever.

[00:20:23] I don't know that it's ever that much, but just as an example.

[00:20:26] And you find another place that's like, just not a Motel 6 and reasonably you can expect it to be

[00:20:35] better than, and it's like $20 more a night.

[00:20:39] Definitely stay there.

[00:20:42] But having said that, it's not at no point have I stayed there and gone, ugh, I'm going

[00:20:49] to have to stay there.

[00:20:50] Ew.

[00:20:51] I mean, yeah, some of the clientele is a little bit ew, but that's just me being an asshole.

[00:20:58] You know?

[00:20:59] Sorry I'm making edits in my chair.

[00:21:01] Man.

[00:21:04] It's fine.

[00:21:06] It's a fine place to stay if it's like, I can't afford to spend anything more than I

[00:21:14] absolutely have to.

[00:21:15] Motel 6, just, you know, come with food or be prepared to take the walk down to the 7-Eleven

[00:21:23] where the clerk is sometimes surly.

[00:21:26] You know, like, or there's also California Fish Grill is a longer drive.

[00:21:33] It's not bad.

[00:21:35] It's fine.

[00:21:36] Cheesecake Factory is a longer walk.

[00:21:39] Like, I mean, it's workable, but it's not, I mean, it's a budget thing, right?

[00:21:45] So, like, it's not, the main takeaway is it's not bad at all, but it ain't great.

[00:21:52] Yeah.

[00:21:52] Okay, well, let's do one better, I think.

[00:21:56] This is, I would say, slightly closer if you're going to be dealing with perhaps the

[00:22:02] third gate, is the Best Western Plus Pavilions.

[00:22:08] Oh.

[00:22:10] They're definitely more convenient to restaurants, Dan.

[00:22:13] Not like Fleming's Prime Steakhouse, for example.

[00:22:17] Is this one of the places we visited?

[00:22:21] Or is that other way?

[00:22:23] No, this one is on the southwest corner of Disneyland California Adventure.

[00:22:28] It's on Catella and Disneyland Drive.

[00:22:31] Okay.

[00:22:31] I'm on there.

[00:22:32] South of.

[00:22:32] Oh, okay.

[00:22:33] Yeah.

[00:22:34] So, there's a restaurant on the corner.

[00:22:36] I don't know what it's called anymore.

[00:22:38] It's like a Mimi's type place.

[00:22:40] But anyway, Best Western Plus.

[00:22:43] No, that still falls in.

[00:22:44] I'm sorry.

[00:22:45] Best Western Plus Pavilions.

[00:22:47] Best Western Plus has a Denny's in the parking lot.

[00:22:49] So, if you're into Denny's.

[00:22:51] Also, I mean, room-wise, I've never stayed there.

[00:22:54] But Best Westerns, like we were talking about last time, it's reliable in a number of ways

[00:23:01] that we find amusing.

[00:23:02] But also, it's reliable.

[00:23:03] You know what you're getting into.

[00:23:05] There's a Denny's in the parking lot.

[00:23:07] I'm sure they have some kind of a discount or an agreement.

[00:23:09] And right around the corner is that weird shopping center that I talked about before

[00:23:15] with the Mari's Pizza and Pasta that your food will take at least 45 minutes to come out.

[00:23:21] But it'll be really, really good.

[00:23:23] There's also an Indian place that smells delicious.

[00:23:26] Never been there.

[00:23:27] But it smells good.

[00:23:29] And then there's also Asia Foodie Kitchen, which never been, but seems to be rated well.

[00:23:36] Yeah, I see that.

[00:23:37] Now, listener, I apologize.

[00:23:38] It is further west.

[00:23:40] It is just south of the parking lot that's going to be part of the third gate, perhaps.

[00:23:49] What's it called again?

[00:23:50] The Toy Story lot?

[00:23:52] Yeah, it's just south of the Toy Story lot.

[00:23:54] So, that's Walnut and Catella.

[00:23:56] And Dan is right.

[00:23:56] There's a Denny's in the parking lot.

[00:23:58] That's south of the...

[00:23:59] It's not the Toy Story.

[00:24:01] It's like Semba or something.

[00:24:03] Well, it's Catella and...

[00:24:06] It doesn't matter.

[00:24:07] Point is, it's south on West Catella.

[00:24:10] Everything Dan said.

[00:24:12] And their website is all about being a good neighbor hotel.

[00:24:18] One nice thing about staying on this...

[00:24:20] I don't know about nice.

[00:24:21] One thing about staying on this side of the park is you have...

[00:24:28] The walk isn't bad.

[00:24:30] It's not as bad as it looks if you go through the downtown Disney.

[00:24:37] And that can be an easier way to get in if you go at the right time.

[00:24:42] The security line is shorter because the security on the hotel side tends to be a little bit less strict.

[00:24:52] So, you have that.

[00:24:54] And another thing that I discovered when I stayed at a hotel around there is if you're in California Adventure and you want to be done, you can leave through the exit for Pixar Place.

[00:25:08] You can't come back through there, but you can exit through there and then just walk your ass back to the hotel.

[00:25:15] No, Disneyland Drive.

[00:25:17] No, head down Disneyland Drive.

[00:25:18] Disneyland Drive.

[00:25:19] Which is a pleasant-ish drive.

[00:25:21] I mean, you definitely notice how sparse it is.

[00:25:24] Again, I'm not saying any of this is a necessarily bad thing.

[00:25:28] If you want a break from...

[00:25:32] This is as outside the bubble, I think, as you can get while still having the bubble be visible.

[00:25:41] Yeah, totally.

[00:25:43] Yeah.

[00:25:44] But yeah, I mean, if you're like...

[00:25:46] The ideal situation, I'm just thinking like myself doing it, is I'm walking around and when you feel that it's quitting time feel,

[00:25:54] you head on over to the Paradise Pier or Paradise, whatever the hell they call it now, the Paradise Performance Corridor.

[00:26:04] And right when you're at the Corndog Castle, you place an order at Mari's Italian Joint.

[00:26:11] You go back to your hotel, take a full shower, maybe shave, maybe do your taxes, and then your delicious meal will be done.

[00:26:21] Yeah.

[00:26:22] Don't get me wrong.

[00:26:23] It's really good, but they do take their time.

[00:26:26] This is the external Italian place.

[00:26:29] Mari's Pizza and Pasta.

[00:26:31] Yeah.

[00:26:32] Asia Foodie.

[00:26:33] Can I take a moment for us?

[00:26:36] And read to you the fabulous history of Stovall's Hotels.

[00:26:41] Please.

[00:26:42] Oh, are we going to Stovall's next?

[00:26:44] No, this is part of the Stovall collection.

[00:26:46] What is Stovall?

[00:26:48] I'm all ears.

[00:26:50] Eric, you're going to find out.

[00:26:52] I will.

[00:26:52] Stovall's family of hotels have surrounded the magic of the Disneyland Park area since 1964.

[00:26:58] Oh.

[00:26:59] Hotel owner and operator Al Stovall wanted an out-of-this-world experience for hotel guests coming to Disneyland.

[00:27:07] And he...

[00:27:07] Why did they wait 10 years?

[00:27:09] Well, they got to make sure it's going to work.

[00:27:12] Okay, okay.

[00:27:13] He delivered.

[00:27:15] With flying saucers, spacemen and aliens adorning the hotel lobby to a rocket van that would pick up guests from the airport, no detail was overlooked.

[00:27:28] Now, the 1960s were coming to life.

[00:27:32] America was just entering the space race.

[00:27:35] Skirts were getting shorter and shorter.

[00:27:37] No.

[00:27:38] And in a small town called Anaheim, Walt Disney's masterpiece was coming to life.

[00:27:44] Each hotel had its own space age feel and name.

[00:27:47] There was the fabulous Inn of Tomorrow, now Stovall's Inn.

[00:27:50] The amazing Space Age Lodge, now Pavilions Hotel, we're talking about now.

[00:27:55] The coming...

[00:27:57] Sorry.

[00:27:57] The Cosmic Age Hotel, the Galaxy Hotel, and the Apollo Inn.

[00:28:02] This was all part of the Stovall family.

[00:28:04] In the 1970s, Disneyland was coming to life again, evidently.

[00:28:11] So, 60s were coming to life.

[00:28:14] 70s, Disneyland was coming to life.

[00:28:16] Families would flock to Anaheim for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and the Anaheim hotels were ready to meet and exceed their expectations.

[00:28:25] Our hotels were state-of-the-art, with color TVs, direct dial phones, and much more.

[00:28:32] Our rocket van would pick up people from the Orange County Airport.

[00:28:37] Your attention, please.

[00:28:41] The 1980s, new wave music, strange hairstyles.

[00:28:46] MTV was born, and the 80s were alive and kicking.

[00:28:50] To embrace this lovely...

[00:28:52] Oh, that's a song.

[00:28:53] That's a Simple Mind song.

[00:28:55] So, alive and kicking.

[00:28:56] Alive and kicking.

[00:28:57] To embrace this lively and hip decade...

[00:29:00] Not that one.

[00:29:01] Not yet.

[00:29:01] Many of our Anaheim hotels were remodeled with a Miami Vice feel and look.

[00:29:07] Decorative neon could be found in our lobby areas.

[00:29:10] We even had a modern computer at the front desk connected to other best Western hotels.

[00:29:16] Wow.

[00:29:17] Now, the history has skipped the 90s and the 2000s and the 2010s.

[00:29:21] Today, our four Best Western Plus hotels have been completely remodeled with brand new guest rooms, upgraded amenities, HD TVs, and with more channels.

[00:29:35] More channels now.

[00:29:36] Free in-room Wi-Fi.

[00:29:38] And the comfort you have come to expect from Best Western.

[00:29:42] Contactless check-in, free daily breakfast, fitness centers, and a great night's sleep await your arrival.

[00:29:48] That is the history of Stovall's hotels, including the one we are talking about, which is, in fact, the Best Western Plus Pavilions.

[00:29:58] Moving on.

[00:30:00] Okay.

[00:30:01] Anything else on Best Western Plus?

[00:30:03] I don't have anything else.

[00:30:05] Okay.

[00:30:06] Oh, I forgot to mention there's an art stop across the street on the corner.

[00:30:13] Dan, what does art mean?

[00:30:18] Automatic response team.

[00:30:21] Wow.

[00:30:22] Okay.

[00:30:23] Good work, California.

[00:30:26] In case everyone was wondering.

[00:30:28] However, you are probably better off walking because that route is very circuitous.

[00:30:34] Circuitous.

[00:30:35] That's the word.

[00:30:36] Circuitous.

[00:30:37] For anyone wondering, the hotel we just spoke of has 99 rooms.

[00:30:41] And for two adults to stay for one night with a two-day park hopper, it would be $950.

[00:30:47] But it wants you to be the 100.

[00:30:51] There's always room for 100.

[00:30:54] $900 tonight.

[00:30:58] $960 for one night.

[00:31:00] Two-day park hopper for two adults.

[00:31:03] All right.

[00:31:03] Moving on to the Clarion Hotel Anaheim Resort with 284 guest rooms.

[00:31:08] Dan, tell us about.

[00:31:11] Never stayed there.

[00:31:12] Sounds great.

[00:31:13] Hold on.

[00:31:13] Let me.

[00:31:14] Wait.

[00:31:14] You haven't?

[00:31:16] I have not.

[00:31:17] Why are you on this show?

[00:31:21] It's a valid question.

[00:31:23] It's one that I'm sure many listeners have asked several times over the years.

[00:31:29] I have not stayed there because it looks depressing.

[00:31:35] The pictures on Expedia look depressing.

[00:31:38] I booked it for a client.

[00:31:41] Gross.

[00:31:42] Gross.

[00:31:42] Mitchell Smith.

[00:31:43] Yeah.

[00:31:45] Mitchell Smith and friends stayed at the Clarion.

[00:31:47] I booked this for them.

[00:31:48] And they loved it.

[00:31:49] They thought it was very comfortable.

[00:31:50] I think there were six of them.

[00:31:52] So Dan is wrong.

[00:31:54] Well, okay.

[00:31:54] According to Mitchell.

[00:31:56] I can tell you we're on Clarion, right?

[00:32:00] Clarion Hotel Anaheim Resort.

[00:32:02] It's just behind the convention center.

[00:32:04] It's on Harbor.

[00:32:05] So here are, okay.

[00:32:07] Here's some things that are good about it.

[00:32:10] I never, again, never stayed, but here's some pluses.

[00:32:13] It is possibly the easiest walk to the toy story parking area, which you can grab a shuttle

[00:32:24] or a bus, toy story bus at.

[00:32:29] The lines there can get long-ish, but not any longer than the main entrance.

[00:32:36] And one nice thing about doing that, just walking over there and hopping on one of them buses,

[00:32:43] is you can do the security line at the parking lot.

[00:32:48] So you kind of bypass that at peak hours, at least.

[00:32:53] So if the timing's good, that could be good.

[00:32:55] You could also take the toy story bus back and just walk across the street.

[00:32:59] Like it's, it's very close.

[00:33:03] So there's no reason to take the art again.

[00:33:05] As you all know, I'm anti-walking because you're going to be doing all sorts of walking anyway.

[00:33:09] So why?

[00:33:13] It's really close to the Morton Steakhouse.

[00:33:15] Some people seem to like that.

[00:33:18] Yeah.

[00:33:18] People like steak.

[00:33:19] Yeah.

[00:33:20] People, people like steak.

[00:33:21] Like it's by, there's close, there's, there's stuff kind of around there.

[00:33:27] Well, Dan, I'll tell you one of the amenities that I wanted to highlight is they have room service.

[00:33:32] Oh.

[00:33:33] Yeah.

[00:33:34] I should stay there.

[00:33:36] With an asterisk.

[00:33:37] Yeah.

[00:33:38] Oh.

[00:33:38] So.

[00:33:39] Oh, not, not all of them.

[00:33:40] Okay.

[00:33:42] Okay.

[00:33:43] So a couple other amenities.

[00:33:45] There's too many to name, right?

[00:33:48] Standard ones, Wi-Fi.

[00:33:49] They do say a hundred percent smoke free.

[00:33:51] There's a charge for a full breakfast, but that means they have food.

[00:33:55] There's a lounge and a bar.

[00:33:56] You, there's truck parking, Dan.

[00:33:59] Oh, toot toot.

[00:34:01] There's a restaurant, a gift shop.

[00:34:04] There's a meeting room.

[00:34:05] Parking.

[00:34:06] It's available.

[00:34:08] Thank God.

[00:34:09] An outdoor heated pool.

[00:34:10] I think you pay for it.

[00:34:12] Bus parking.

[00:34:13] Convention center.

[00:34:15] Bellman.

[00:34:15] I mean.

[00:34:16] I mean.

[00:34:17] Why wouldn't you stay?

[00:34:18] I could drive my bus there.

[00:34:19] That's insane.

[00:34:20] It's also close to some other hotels that have amenities that you might want to use.

[00:34:25] Probably.

[00:34:26] They won't like.

[00:34:26] They probably won't let you use the pool, but they have like restaurants and stuff.

[00:34:30] It's also within walking distance to the convention center.

[00:34:34] As far as I can tell.

[00:34:36] That's right.

[00:34:36] It's on their amenities says convention center.

[00:34:39] There are several good reasons.

[00:34:40] Several good reasons to say there.

[00:34:42] I've heard good things.

[00:34:43] It's just every time I've hovered along on Expedia about to hit the like book now, I see the depressing pictures.

[00:34:51] Like, like, what if it's like that?

[00:34:55] Then that's just not bad.

[00:34:58] Saver stone hearth and pizza and wine is a couple doors down.

[00:35:02] Morton's the steakhouse.

[00:35:03] So you can save your money at the Clarion.

[00:35:05] The steakhouse.

[00:35:06] You can afford to go to Morton's.

[00:35:09] Yeah.

[00:35:09] Yeah.

[00:35:09] I'm sure it's fine.

[00:35:10] I just, I haven't, I haven't done it.

[00:35:14] For record, the hotel, if you were to stay two adults one night with the two day park opera, it is $970 for one night.

[00:35:26] Still in the value range.

[00:35:27] I should stay there.

[00:35:29] Let me see.

[00:35:29] Let me, let's.

[00:35:30] Check it out.

[00:35:31] I'm going to see what the prices are like for my.

[00:35:33] Are you going to call eight, five, six hour ears?

[00:35:35] I, you know, I always do.

[00:35:38] Yes, you do.

[00:35:40] Sometimes.

[00:35:42] Sometimes.

[00:35:42] Um, all right.

[00:35:44] Well, Dan looks at that.

[00:35:45] We're going to move.

[00:35:46] Are we going to move on to the next hotel?

[00:35:48] Let's do it.

[00:35:49] What's the next?

[00:35:50] What's the next?

[00:35:50] Four, four points by Sheraton Anaheim.

[00:35:53] And you've stayed there?

[00:35:55] I have stayed there.

[00:35:57] There's just four of them.

[00:35:58] Okay.

[00:35:59] Um, now the four points by Sheraton Anaheim should on paper be more than a value.

[00:36:09] Yes.

[00:36:10] Uh, however.

[00:36:11] That's a lot of points.

[00:36:12] I have not heard.

[00:36:13] Incredibly loud.

[00:36:14] Oh, is that why you said?

[00:36:16] Because I remember you said that you were staying there and you shared pictures of like the back of the team Disney building.

[00:36:23] Yeah.

[00:36:23] We were all so excited for you to watch the fireworks there.

[00:36:27] And, and then afterwards you said, I'm never staying there again.

[00:36:30] Oh no.

[00:36:31] It's on the other side of I five.

[00:36:33] So it's, it's across the, it's at the corner of ball and a Harbor.

[00:36:40] So when you're like going out for like a jog, you can see that hotel and they can see you.

[00:36:47] Sure.

[00:36:48] But that's probably true for most hotels.

[00:36:50] Um, just so like ball and Harbor, it's got a pool.

[00:36:55] Um, it's, it's a Marriott brand.

[00:36:57] And I guess it from the outside, it looks like it before you stayed there and before my sister stayed there and shared kind of a similar experience.

[00:37:07] I always assumed this is probably a nice place because it just seems like it would be.

[00:37:14] Yeah.

[00:37:15] It, so for me, my experience, it has amenities.

[00:37:19] Uh, it's got a bar inside.

[00:37:21] It's across the street from a Chevron station and a Taco Bell.

[00:37:24] Um, it's on paper.

[00:37:27] It's a nice hotel.

[00:37:28] Yeah.

[00:37:28] Uh, it's got a nice little fun pool, but the rooms that I, the room that I stayed in was so loud because it is right next to the freeway.

[00:37:39] And it is so loud that the difference between opening the hotel room door and closing it is a couple decibels slight.

[00:37:47] I mean, it is so loud.

[00:37:50] Now I'm sure on the other side, maybe less.

[00:37:52] So I'm looking at it with that in mind.

[00:37:55] And now that you mention it, there is the, there's the freeway.

[00:37:58] And not only is there the freeway, but then you also have ball, ball and harbor is very high, dense traffic.

[00:38:07] Very dense traffic in that area.

[00:38:09] Yeah.

[00:38:09] It's, it's right there for everything.

[00:38:11] Yeah.

[00:38:12] Yeah.

[00:38:13] But it's a nice looking hotel.

[00:38:15] It's comfortable.

[00:38:16] I mean, it's well appointed.

[00:38:17] It is a Marriott brand again.

[00:38:19] So, you know, you're, you get a certain amount with the fact that it's a national or global brand.

[00:38:25] And he's got his featured amenities on site.

[00:38:28] Here are the features amenities.

[00:38:29] Oh, sustainability.

[00:38:31] The featured amenity.

[00:38:33] Free wifi, free coffee and tea, outdoor pool, meeting space, fitness center, bar and hot tub.

[00:38:40] But yeah, I think if you absolutely have to stay there, you want to request as north and as east as possible.

[00:38:55] That's like above the lobby kind of thing.

[00:38:57] Yeah.

[00:38:57] One thing I will say about the four points, there is a convenience store and a gift shop inside, which I always enjoy.

[00:39:02] I like to have a diet soda in the morning.

[00:39:06] So it's nice to have that convenience store.

[00:39:08] You don't have to walk across to Chevron.

[00:39:10] It's nice to have that in the hotel.

[00:39:12] And the walk is, I mean, it's not much longer than a lot of them.

[00:39:18] A lot of the, a lot of places that I would not feel stupid walking from are closer, but there's something about that walk.

[00:39:29] Cause you're going from, you're going over the freeway and you have to do a crosswalk over a few on off ramp or one on an off ramp.

[00:39:40] Yeah.

[00:39:41] You have to cross over and on.

[00:39:42] Yeah.

[00:39:42] Then you're also crossing.

[00:39:44] It's in this weird place where it, I feel like it would feel like there's just more in the way than it.

[00:39:55] Like distance wise, it's probably not terrible, but it would, it seems to me like it would be a stressful walk.

[00:40:01] Yeah.

[00:40:01] It's peaceful for sure.

[00:40:03] Having done it before, having walked it, it's about a mile to the Esplanade.

[00:40:08] Yeah.

[00:40:09] Cause you're a half mile into your walk and then you're passing the Howard Johnson.

[00:40:13] There is, I think, is there an art?

[00:40:16] Let's see.

[00:40:17] Yes.

[00:40:17] There is a art bus that's on the ball road line.

[00:40:20] And just for reference, if you know the area really well, that's the same line that the, uh, the last one, the pavilions, uh, that's the same line that that one goes on.

[00:40:33] So if you stay at pavilions and you take the art bus, you're going around the property all the way around, all the way around the property.

[00:40:44] It's like the long way.

[00:40:46] So I can't stress enough.

[00:40:48] Walking is the way to go there.

[00:40:49] And remember I'm anti-walking.

[00:40:51] Um, yeah.

[00:40:52] Uh, also onsite parking is $33 and 99 cents.

[00:40:58] So you should park at motel six and then stay.

[00:41:02] That's right.

[00:41:03] It's only $20 for the motel six.

[00:41:06] Right.

[00:41:06] So, yeah.

[00:41:07] Uh, anyway, that's the four point Sheraton from experience.

[00:41:10] I would not stay there again.

[00:41:11] Uh, on paper, again, a very nice hotel.

[00:41:15] Uh, but my experience, it was nice to see team Disney.

[00:41:18] It was nice to see, I think, saw part of Mickey and Minnie's runaway railway from my room, perhaps.

[00:41:23] Okay.

[00:41:23] Uh, but that's it.

[00:41:25] Hmm.

[00:41:26] That was the only benefit.

[00:41:28] That was the only benefit.

[00:41:30] The four points by Sheraton, $130 more than so roughly it's a dollar more.

[00:41:36] More than the Clarion.

[00:41:37] Uh, so for two adults, one night, two day park upper, $967.

[00:41:44] So it sounds like of the two, because they're kind of similar ish in, in general.

[00:41:49] Clarion's the one.

[00:41:50] Distance wise.

[00:41:51] Yeah.

[00:41:52] Clarion's going to be a lot quieter.

[00:41:53] Not as nice, not as well appointed, not as many amenities, but you have more choices of things to eat.

[00:41:59] Okay.

[00:42:00] Toy Story bus is right there.

[00:42:01] Yeah.

[00:42:02] At the pavilions.

[00:42:03] Yeah.

[00:42:04] Um, yeah.

[00:42:05] So there's fewer rooms at the pavilions.

[00:42:07] There's only 99 versus 284.

[00:42:09] No, sorry.

[00:42:10] 246 rooms at four points.

[00:42:13] Just curious.

[00:42:14] Just out of, from overall experience, does the Fairfield win over this one?

[00:42:20] Oh, hands down.

[00:42:22] Okay.

[00:42:22] Okay.

[00:42:23] Yeah.

[00:42:24] Hands down.

[00:42:24] Cause we didn't like Fairfield.

[00:42:25] Closer.

[00:42:26] Right.

[00:42:26] No, Fairfield's a moderate, I think.

[00:42:28] Yeah.

[00:42:28] Yeah.

[00:42:29] Um, okay.

[00:42:30] So moving on to the best Western plus Stovall's Inn.

[00:42:35] We've heard the history.

[00:42:36] So I won't go into that.

[00:42:37] Okay.

[00:42:38] Looking at best Western plus.

[00:42:41] Okay.

[00:42:41] Best Western plus Stovall's Inn.

[00:42:43] I, by the way, if you want to just give a little gift to yourself, always listener and

[00:42:48] everyone else to say it like Stovach.

[00:42:50] It's fun.

[00:42:51] It's really fun for me.

[00:42:54] Now, this is the hotel that I was describing before, which is on the Southwest corner of

[00:43:00] uh, Catella and Disneyland drive.

[00:43:03] So relatively convenient.

[00:43:04] You've got a restaurant right there on the corner, Dan.

[00:43:07] Do you remember what it's called?

[00:43:08] The restaurant is, well, it used to be like a Coco's or something.

[00:43:12] Yeah.

[00:43:13] It's now closed.

[00:43:15] Um, oh no.

[00:43:17] Let's see.

[00:43:18] It is close to, no, it's close.

[00:43:21] There's nothing there anymore.

[00:43:22] It is close to the West end.

[00:43:25] So you could, you know, pretend that you're at the West end.

[00:43:30] I'm sure if you don't try to go there, pull, they'll let you.

[00:43:32] Um, let's see other things.

[00:43:35] Is there, hold on.

[00:43:36] I'm going to do street view.

[00:43:37] Cause I, give me the real, uh, the real thing.

[00:43:40] Come on.

[00:43:41] Yeah.

[00:43:42] Um, yeah.

[00:43:43] So Fleming's prime steakhouse.

[00:43:46] How old is this?

[00:43:48] Puesto Anaheim.

[00:43:49] I guess the Coco's is still there.

[00:43:52] Question mark.

[00:43:53] No.

[00:43:55] Um, I'm clicking restaurants.

[00:43:57] As of January, 2024.

[00:44:01] I mean, I mean, I, I'm clicking restaurants and it doesn't show up, but anyway.

[00:44:07] Um, yeah.

[00:44:08] So this is that Coco's is still there.

[00:44:10] I'm very excited.

[00:44:11] Anaheim Coco's.

[00:44:13] Um, no, that's a bakery.

[00:44:15] No, that's not.

[00:44:16] Coco's is a bakery.

[00:44:17] Kind of.

[00:44:18] Sure.

[00:44:19] Is it?

[00:44:20] Have you never been?

[00:44:20] Oh yeah.

[00:44:21] There's no reason for you to have gone.

[00:44:22] Come on.

[00:44:23] You've been with me anytime.

[00:44:25] I have not been in the bubble.

[00:44:28] Yeah, that's true.

[00:44:29] Um, one thing that Coco's restaurant.

[00:44:34] One thing about Stoves that looks fun is, uh, it looks like it has, I think it's from what

[00:44:41] I can tell, it still has a little bit of that wacky, like 1960s flair to it in that there's

[00:44:47] a little like walkthrough garden area that I bet has some topiaries.

[00:44:53] Um, it looks delightfully wacky in that sort of like outdated kind of wacky way.

[00:45:01] Um, yeah, it's, I mean, and again, at best Western, we all kind of know what we're getting

[00:45:07] into there and then necessarily a bad thing.

[00:45:10] I'm happy to tell you that, uh, they do have a military discount.

[00:45:14] Oh, thank God.

[00:45:15] Cause we are.

[00:45:16] That's good.

[00:45:17] Along with all new swimming pool, all new fitness center, Disneyland resort shuttle,

[00:45:23] wifi, children under 17 stay for free.

[00:45:27] Can they discount me calories on these breakfasts?

[00:45:31] Oh my goodness.

[00:45:33] Oh Dan, by the way, hotel amenity, famous topiary gardens and picture area.

[00:45:38] Yes.

[00:45:39] Hell yeah.

[00:45:40] Coin operated laundry, $20 to park.

[00:45:43] Okay.

[00:45:44] $20.

[00:45:45] Oh yeah.

[00:45:45] Yeah.

[00:45:46] Mini refrigerator and microwave in the guest rooms.

[00:45:50] Cable television.

[00:45:51] Is it color TV?

[00:45:52] Do they have color TV as an air conditioning?

[00:45:54] It does not say about color TV.

[00:45:56] We don't know.

[00:45:57] Well, probably black and white then.

[00:45:58] So yeah.

[00:45:59] Yeah.

[00:45:59] But they have cable.

[00:46:00] Seems right.

[00:46:01] At least have HBO.

[00:46:03] HBO.

[00:46:04] There's a learning board.

[00:46:05] What about skin and mags?

[00:46:07] Black and white.

[00:46:09] 88 guest rooms.

[00:46:12] No, wait, wait, hold on.

[00:46:13] There's closed captioning on the television.

[00:46:16] Oh, oh good.

[00:46:17] Oh, we know that.

[00:46:21] The telephones have volume control.

[00:46:24] Oh, there's phones.

[00:46:25] The telephones have.

[00:46:26] Yeah.

[00:46:26] They have.

[00:46:27] And volume control.

[00:46:30] Do you have.

[00:46:31] Do they.

[00:46:34] I forgot what I was saying.

[00:46:36] Oh, that's right.

[00:46:38] Anyway, the still goes in.

[00:46:39] I want to eat right.

[00:46:41] Yeah.

[00:46:42] It seems like it's really convenient.

[00:46:45] Hotel, you know, distance wise.

[00:46:50] Yeah, it is.

[00:46:51] It is of the.

[00:46:53] Let me see.

[00:46:54] Of that side of things.

[00:46:57] Yeah.

[00:46:58] It is probably the most like walkable of the west.

[00:47:03] Southwest side.

[00:47:05] Yeah.

[00:47:06] It's right there on the corner.

[00:47:09] Yeah.

[00:47:10] Um, yeah.

[00:47:12] It still falls in.

[00:47:13] It's yeah.

[00:47:14] It doesn't look like a ton of stuff and there's restaurants around.

[00:47:17] The Fleming's is really good, but again, it's, it's pricey, but with the still falls

[00:47:22] in, you're paying $971 to stay there for one night, two adults, two day park upper.

[00:47:31] Yeah.

[00:47:32] And that, that whole line of hotels there, like I, the one, the just Alamo and, and, uh,

[00:47:39] uh, discovery that I talked about before is, uh, uh, honorable mentions.

[00:47:45] It's they're all, I mean, I don't want to say nice or good.

[00:47:48] Cause you know, those are all relative, but you can see the fireworks really well.

[00:47:52] They're relative.

[00:47:52] It's relatively quiet there, even though the neighborhood is, you know, not the best.

[00:47:58] I mean, and the neighborhood in Anaheim is not the best, but so, um, don't go that far

[00:48:06] west.

[00:48:07] Okay.

[00:48:07] It's fine.

[00:48:08] Don't go further west.

[00:48:09] You'll be fine.

[00:48:10] Yeah.

[00:48:10] You'll be fine.

[00:48:11] Yeah.

[00:48:11] I think that's fair.

[00:48:12] Don't go further west than this.

[00:48:14] Uh, okay.

[00:48:15] So let's move on to the Portofino Anaheim Portofino Inn and Suites.

[00:48:18] I'm excited about this one.

[00:48:19] Dan, have you stayed at the Anaheim Portofino?

[00:48:21] I have not, but I think my sister did.

[00:48:23] And I think I've visited her when she was there.

[00:48:26] Should we call her?

[00:48:26] Is that, uh, I can try.

[00:48:29] Corner.

[00:48:30] Uh, so this is actually, Eric, this is the north, a southeast corner.

[00:48:35] Southeast.

[00:48:36] So, sorry.

[00:48:36] So it's just southeast of Disneyland.

[00:48:38] It is the southwest corner of Cotella and Harbor.

[00:48:42] Remember the residence inn we stayed in?

[00:48:44] Yeah.

[00:48:44] Yeah.

[00:48:45] Yeah.

[00:48:45] Same parking lot.

[00:48:46] Oh, that one.

[00:48:47] Okay.

[00:48:48] Great.

[00:48:49] The Portofino.

[00:48:50] Good.

[00:48:51] Yeah.

[00:48:52] Good place.

[00:48:52] Some fun things about the Portofino.

[00:48:54] It's pretty conveniently located, right?

[00:48:57] It's, uh, there's two, there's a CVS on one side.

[00:49:01] There's a Walgreens on another.

[00:49:02] Uh, this is right across from the hotel that we toured together.

[00:49:06] Uh, there's a UPS access point location according to Google maps.

[00:49:11] Obviously the art, the Hyatt house is what I was thinking of.

[00:49:14] It's across from the Hyatt house.

[00:49:15] There's a Starbucks across the street, Walgreens, CVS across the street from the Portofino.

[00:49:21] Um, well, there's plenty to do.

[00:49:23] There's a liquor store.

[00:49:25] Oh no, the Portofino is, there's an IHOP.

[00:49:28] Yeah.

[00:49:29] Portofino is, yeah.

[00:49:30] Across the street from where the Hansa house used to be.

[00:49:33] Rest in peace.

[00:49:35] Um, it's now an IHOP or there's an IHOP there.

[00:49:38] I should say.

[00:49:39] Yeah.

[00:49:39] That's dead to me.

[00:49:40] We had a great, uh, left wing lunch with Dan once.

[00:49:45] That's right.

[00:49:46] Yeah.

[00:49:47] Just catty corner there.

[00:49:48] Elon Musk and his army of robots.

[00:49:49] Please don't listen.

[00:49:50] I was just, I was trying to mislead them, uh, and trying to make them expose themselves

[00:49:56] as dirty leftists and, uh, they passed my test.

[00:50:00] So we, we paid off.

[00:50:02] Yeah.

[00:50:02] Oh, yeah.

[00:50:03] Sorry.

[00:50:03] We love you.

[00:50:04] Elon.

[00:50:05] Oh yes, we do.

[00:50:07] Okay.

[00:50:08] Enjoy comfort and convenience.

[00:50:10] Just steps from the Disneyland resort, outdoor pool and sun deck room service, fitness

[00:50:17] center, complimentary wifi.

[00:50:21] So, uh, in terms of like this kind of stuff that I would bring to this, I think being

[00:50:27] close to the CVS is not, I mean, being close to this intersection, one of the nicest things

[00:50:32] about it is that you're close to a CVS and a Walgreens.

[00:50:36] And if you forget anything, you can probably grab whatever you need at a CVS or a Walgreens.

[00:50:42] Yeah, that's right.

[00:50:43] And it's not like booze, including booze.

[00:50:45] And it's kind of, it's kind of the theme park pricing is not insane.

[00:50:50] So you're paying, you know, a little bit more, but still it's, it's not bad.

[00:50:55] Um, as far as, as far as the art bus goes, there is a stop up the street slightly on the

[00:51:02] same side.

[00:51:03] However, that is the beginning of the route.

[00:51:06] So you'll be going all the way down Harper Boulevard, um, for some time until you turn

[00:51:14] around and come back up.

[00:51:15] So time wise, not the best place to pick up some pickup bus.

[00:51:23] However, coming back, it's going to be pretty quick.

[00:51:27] Um, yeah.

[00:51:28] Cause it'll be one of the first stops coming back.

[00:51:31] So if you're looking at doing the art, I would say if you're staying at Portofino may as well

[00:51:37] go ahead and go across to the subway and California pizza place shopping center, grab that art.

[00:51:45] But at that point you may as well just walk.

[00:51:47] Yeah, exactly.

[00:51:48] Yeah.

[00:51:49] I see the art station there.

[00:51:51] Yeah.

[00:51:51] Art's not that's Harbor and Catella art station.

[00:51:53] That's not very far.

[00:51:54] Yeah, it's not.

[00:51:55] But I mean, again, this would fall into my kind of catch all is if you've been walking

[00:52:01] around all day, you just take, just take the art back.

[00:52:04] Yeah.

[00:52:05] Come on.

[00:52:05] Two blocks is good.

[00:52:07] Yeah.

[00:52:07] If you want to walk there.

[00:52:09] Great.

[00:52:09] I don't, I, I don't think that's silly, but if it's, but if you're like struggling, then

[00:52:14] just take the damn art.

[00:52:16] Yeah.

[00:52:17] It's less than a mile to Disneyland, 190 rooms and suites, $981 for two, one night, two adults,

[00:52:27] two day park opera.

[00:52:27] Dan, I'm finding something on the map that I have not noticed before.

[00:52:32] Yes.

[00:52:33] It's the dinner detective murder mystery.

[00:52:36] What?

[00:52:37] Where?

[00:52:38] Tell me.

[00:52:39] It is across the street from the Anaheim Portofino Inn and Suites.

[00:52:45] It's behind Hotel Lulu.

[00:52:47] Okay.

[00:52:50] Um, Hotel Lulu.

[00:52:52] Yeah.

[00:52:52] So it's on Harbor, South of Catella.

[00:52:56] I know.

[00:52:57] I don't see it.

[00:52:58] Are you, how zoomed in are you?

[00:53:01] Uh, well zoomed in.

[00:53:04] It is 1850 South Harbor Boulevard.

[00:53:06] It's across the street.

[00:53:08] He's right.

[00:53:10] Uh, Dan, we need to do this.

[00:53:13] Well, I want to go.

[00:53:16] Okay.

[00:53:16] The dinner detective murder mystery dinner show.

[00:53:19] Okay.

[00:53:19] Wait, wait, wait, wait.

[00:53:20] What's it actually called?

[00:53:21] What is it called again?

[00:53:22] It is called the dinner detective.

[00:53:24] I mean, I'm, I'm there just with that.

[00:53:27] Like I want to, I want to go to someplace called dinner detective.

[00:53:31] Uh, all right.

[00:53:33] Let's do it.

[00:53:33] You can go to the dinner detective.com.

[00:53:35] It is a true crime murder mystery dinner experience.

[00:53:39] Unlike anything else.

[00:53:41] Wow.

[00:53:42] What?

[00:53:42] We.

[00:53:43] Okay.

[00:53:44] Okay.

[00:53:44] Do you know how many other things that there are that are else?

[00:53:48] It's unlike those.

[00:53:50] Oh, it's in the Hotel Lulu.

[00:53:52] Oh, it's a dinner theater.

[00:53:55] Oh my God.

[00:53:55] Okay.

[00:53:56] Okay.

[00:53:57] Okay.

[00:53:57] We're doing it.

[00:53:58] We are 100% doing this.

[00:54:02] Oh my God.

[00:54:04] This is unlocking.

[00:54:05] This is a national chain, by the way.

[00:54:06] They have one in Atlanta.

[00:54:07] You know how we've been looking for a reason or an excuse to unlock the greater Anaheim area as its own resort?

[00:54:15] We found it.

[00:54:18] Does Disney World have a dinner detective?

[00:54:21] Well, hold on.

[00:54:21] Let's find out.

[00:54:22] I'm zooming.

[00:54:23] Zooming.

[00:54:23] Zooming.

[00:54:24] Orlando or Kissimmee dinner detective?

[00:54:26] Um, website.

[00:54:28] So.

[00:54:29] I'm in Atlanta.

[00:54:30] Oh, yes.

[00:54:30] Oh, you better believe there's one in Tampa.

[00:54:32] These are, these are the little weird things that we really, really need to like explore more.

[00:54:41] Agreed.

[00:54:41] Well, we did.

[00:54:42] We have the Benihana episode.

[00:54:43] I've been on a flight simulator that was several miles away from, uh, the Anaheim resort.

[00:54:53] And I had like landed a, a large airplane as a, uh, a thing.

[00:55:02] But yeah, like there's so much else going on around here.

[00:55:06] Wow.

[00:55:07] Do you guys want to hear what the current menu is?

[00:55:11] Yes.

[00:55:12] Okay.

[00:55:13] First of all, there's two locations.

[00:55:15] One is in the Hotel Lulu through December 21st.

[00:55:19] And then it's in the Embassy Suites by Hilton Anaheim Orange.

[00:55:24] So it's moving further away starting on January 4th.

[00:55:27] Currently, if you were to go there, you get a chef's choice appetizers, a traditional Caesar salad.

[00:55:34] Your choice of entrees are chicken marsala, grilled tilapia, penne vegetable pasta alla vodka, and chef's choice dessert.

[00:55:41] Coffee is upon request.

[00:55:43] All of this for the Lolo price of $69.95.

[00:55:47] Mm-hmm.

[00:55:48] $70.

[00:55:49] Here's some reviews.

[00:55:49] Because Allison Allen says, Meredith was a dream to work with.

[00:55:53] Awesome show.

[00:55:54] We love the salmon.

[00:55:56] Char Rosa said, amazing time.

[00:55:58] So much fun.

[00:55:58] Very interactive.

[00:55:59] Interesting.

[00:56:00] Exciting.

[00:56:00] And all the things you'd want and more in a murder mystery show.

[00:56:04] I would definitely do this again.

[00:56:05] Now, it doesn't say that they definitely don't murder you.

[00:56:08] So that makes me worried.

[00:56:10] Dale Levesque says, good fun, engaging.

[00:56:13] Definitely will come back in a year for a new plot.

[00:56:16] Now, if you're staying in the Anaheim Resort area and you want to get to the Dinner Detective Mystery Murder Dinner Detective,

[00:56:25] you want to hop on the art bus that is the, let's see, it is, it's the Grand Plaza line.

[00:56:33] Oh.

[00:56:33] So, or you can take your art to any, you can take your art to Disneyland and then hop on the Grand Plaza line.

[00:56:44] I don't know enough about art in the area, but wow.

[00:56:48] Okay.

[00:56:48] It seems that this Dinner Detective is not a nightly event.

[00:56:52] This seems to be once a week.

[00:56:54] Tuesday.

[00:56:55] On a Saturday.

[00:56:56] 10 a.m.

[00:56:57] You know what the real murder mystery is, though?

[00:56:59] Who killed Hans the house and made a denial?

[00:57:01] Amen.

[00:57:03] So, I would like to ask you both a question.

[00:57:06] What is the opposite of private?

[00:57:10] Public.

[00:57:12] That's right.

[00:57:13] So, it's important to note they have a private event and it is closed to the public.

[00:57:19] It says private event closed to the public.

[00:57:22] Okay.

[00:57:22] That's good.

[00:57:23] Okay.

[00:57:24] They're just-

[00:57:25] Find out more.

[00:57:26] It's customized.

[00:57:28] It's customized.

[00:57:28] Private and corporate events.

[00:57:30] Anyway, that is-

[00:57:32] Eric, would you like to elaborate more on Dinner Detective before we finish up?

[00:57:38] No, because I have a lot of research that I want to do on this.

[00:57:43] Yeah.

[00:57:44] Sorry.

[00:57:44] Okay.

[00:57:44] So, there are two more hotels in this series, one of which I can't find pricing for.

[00:57:50] The other is Best Western Plus Raffi's Inn and Suites.

[00:57:54] This is not part of the Stovals, by the way.

[00:57:57] And not part of Raffi the children's entertainer.

[00:58:01] I assume, but I cannot confirm.

[00:58:04] Okay.

[00:58:05] Hmm.

[00:58:06] The Best Western Plus Raffi's.

[00:58:10] Not part of Stovals.

[00:58:13] Hmm.

[00:58:14] Okay.

[00:58:15] Where is this one?

[00:58:16] Sorry.

[00:58:17] I'm currently generating a sad song about Hansa Houseclosing.

[00:58:21] Okay.

[00:58:22] So, the Best Western Plus Raffi's is further away.

[00:58:26] Okay.

[00:58:27] It's further down Harbor.

[00:58:29] Okay.

[00:58:29] Harbor.

[00:58:30] All right.

[00:58:31] There's an electric vehicle charging station there.

[00:58:33] There's a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse just across the street.

[00:58:36] Oh.

[00:58:36] Oh, okay.

[00:58:38] Okay.

[00:58:38] So, you know where I'm talking about.

[00:58:40] Yeah.

[00:58:40] It's across from the Hyatt Place.

[00:58:42] Not quite as far south as the Marriott.

[00:58:45] There we go.

[00:58:46] Yeah.

[00:58:46] The Suites.

[00:58:47] Yeah.

[00:58:47] I found it.

[00:58:48] Okay.

[00:58:49] So, the Raffi's Inn.

[00:58:52] It looks all right.

[00:58:56] Externally.

[00:58:57] Sure.

[00:58:58] Yeah.

[00:58:58] It's just right on Harbor.

[00:58:59] Looks nice.

[00:59:00] It looks like the old Hansa House.

[00:59:05] So, getting to some amenities.

[00:59:08] So, this is, by the way, of all the hotels we've talked about so far, this far away from

[00:59:13] Disneyland is the most expensive.

[00:59:15] So, it is arguably the furthest away and also the most expensive.

[00:59:19] For value.

[00:59:21] That's interesting.

[00:59:22] Okay, I'm back.

[00:59:22] For the value.

[00:59:23] What are you talking about now?

[00:59:24] Sorry.

[00:59:24] I had to.

[00:59:25] There's a song coming that we're going to be playing.

[00:59:28] Best Western plus Ruffles.

[00:59:30] Okay.

[00:59:31] Raffles.

[00:59:33] Okay.

[00:59:34] So.

[00:59:35] That's 200 plus a night?

[00:59:36] 250?

[00:59:37] 260?

[00:59:38] Now, I see one here for 159.

[00:59:41] My goodness, that's far away for that price.

[00:59:43] It is far away for that price.

[00:59:44] It is the most expensive.

[00:59:46] Do they have a special kind of turndown service that we don't know about?

[00:59:50] Or like, what's going on there?

[00:59:51] No, they do have a kid's suite, two rooms, three beds.

[00:59:55] Oh, kids don't need that kind of turndown service.

[00:59:59] But yeah, let's see.

[01:00:01] I'm not finding any amenities at this hotel.

[01:00:05] Yeah, it's.

[01:00:07] There's.

[01:00:07] Okay.

[01:00:08] What?

[01:00:08] Oof.

[01:00:10] Why is it that?

[01:00:11] It's across.

[01:00:12] Like, it's across the street from Ruth's Steakhouse, but not in any way that is reasonable to access.

[01:00:19] No, because you can't just walk across the street.

[01:00:21] I mean, you could.

[01:00:22] Who's going to stop you, right?

[01:00:25] It is 100% smoke-free.

[01:00:27] There's complimentary full breakfast.

[01:00:29] There we go.

[01:00:30] Complimentary full breakfast.

[01:00:31] Do they have color TVs?

[01:00:33] Hold on.

[01:00:34] Let's not get ambitious.

[01:00:36] And people that aren't smoking stogies in front of your face.

[01:00:39] Now, your complimentary full breakfast is a choice of bread, cereal, fruit, hot eggs, hot breakfast meat.

[01:00:47] Not cold goopy eggs.

[01:00:49] No, not cold eggs.

[01:00:50] Hot eggs.

[01:00:51] Hot breakfast meat.

[01:00:52] Dan, you love your hot breakfast meat.

[01:00:54] I certainly do.

[01:00:55] And the other hot items, yogurt juice and coffee.

[01:00:59] Hot tub.

[01:01:00] Yogurt juice?

[01:01:00] Ew.

[01:01:01] I enjoy hot yogurt juice.

[01:01:03] They have hot eggs, hot meats, and hot tub.

[01:01:07] Do they have hot drinks?

[01:01:10] I don't think so.

[01:01:11] They have coffee.

[01:01:13] There's a car rental desk.

[01:01:14] There's a 24-hour front desk.

[01:01:16] Local shuttle to shopping destinations.

[01:01:19] There's an outdoor pool that's heated.

[01:01:22] Free guest laundry.

[01:01:23] There's where your money is.

[01:01:24] Are any of those destinations near Disneyland or they just like Long Beach?

[01:01:30] What?

[01:01:31] There's a doctor on call.

[01:01:34] Oh, okay.

[01:01:35] So bring all your laundry and be ready for a visit.

[01:01:39] That's right.

[01:01:39] They're saying that there's a shuttle, but does it bring you to Disneyland or does it bring you to Long Beach?

[01:01:45] Here's what the shuttle says.

[01:01:47] Okay.

[01:01:48] Local shuttle service to shopping destinations.

[01:01:51] Oh, shopping.

[01:01:52] Oh.

[01:01:52] It brings you to Garden Walk.

[01:01:54] It brings you to Target.

[01:01:56] This is a block north.

[01:01:59] Multilingual staff.

[01:02:01] That's English and Spanish.

[01:02:02] I'm looking at the art route.

[01:02:05] It looks like.

[01:02:06] What if I speak Thai?

[01:02:08] So on that one, if you want to take the art, which I don't know why you would want to stay here based on what we're talking about here, but you could take the Grove District line and there's only one stop after yours before you get to Disneyland.

[01:02:23] Which means that if you are taking it back, you're the second from the last stop.

[01:02:29] But again, if you're tired, then holy hell.

[01:02:32] If you're this far south, by the way, I think you should take the art or just walk to the Toy Story lot, which is right there.

[01:02:42] Yeah, good call.

[01:02:42] Yeah.

[01:02:43] So there's a couple other things I want to point out as far as amenities.

[01:02:47] Ooh, bunk beds.

[01:02:48] Parking is $17.

[01:02:50] Jesus.

[01:02:50] Now that's true for 24-hour outdoor parking and valet, $17.

[01:02:57] They do have cable or satellite television, but not both.

[01:03:01] And we haven't confirmed that they have color TVs yet.

[01:03:05] There's television.

[01:03:06] All we know is it's cable or satellite.

[01:03:08] That's all we know.

[01:03:09] They're not sure.

[01:03:10] They do have an elevator.

[01:03:11] Here's the other two things I want to point out.

[01:03:13] On the first page of amenities, it says guest laundry free.

[01:03:18] Oh, no, it says fee.

[01:03:19] My bad.

[01:03:20] The next page, guest laundry open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

[01:03:23] Nominal fee of $3.

[01:03:26] There's an exercise facility.

[01:03:31] Nominal fee.

[01:03:32] I don't see a reason to stay here, if I'm being really honest.

[01:03:36] No.

[01:03:37] Free breakfast is nice.

[01:03:38] Even if it's between this and Motel 6, if it's the same price, I'm still staying at Motel 6 because this is just so far.

[01:03:47] It's a lot further.

[01:03:49] Yeah.

[01:03:51] For sure.

[01:03:52] Yeah.

[01:03:52] And then the final hotel on this list is the Cortana Inn & Suites, but I could not find anything on that price-wise.

[01:04:02] Oh.

[01:04:03] Can I just mention that our new sponsor is the Cortana Inn & Suites?

[01:04:08] Ooh.

[01:04:08] So please give us more detail.

[01:04:11] I can tell you it's currently listed just because these are the dates in my Expedia, December 3rd through the 4th.

[01:04:22] It's 123 per night.

[01:04:25] That's a steal.

[01:04:27] Wow.

[01:04:28] I've heard good things about Cortana.

[01:04:30] I've never stayed there.

[01:04:30] I would like to, mainly because they do have free breakfast.

[01:04:37] Free bread.

[01:04:37] Free parking, and it's super close to the Clarion.

[01:04:44] So that whole, like, you could just walk over to the Toy Story parking is-

[01:04:49] Yeah, that's right.

[01:04:50] That still applies.

[01:04:51] That's close, yeah.

[01:04:51] And I suspect it's marginally nicer based on the pictures than the Clarion.

[01:04:58] But again, I'm just basing that off of the pictures that I've seen on the website.

[01:05:02] I believe it is connected in some way to the Hyatt Place in Anaheim.

[01:05:09] It is.

[01:05:09] Yeah, they may be the same franchisee, but it's the same parking lot.

[01:05:13] Yeah, I think it's the same franchisee.

[01:05:16] There's underground parking.

[01:05:20] I've heard good things about the Cortana.

[01:05:23] Yeah, it looks nice.

[01:05:27] I don't know.

[01:05:28] Yeah, so price-wise, I don't know how to, you know.

[01:05:33] But as far as, like, geographically, it's across from the Raffies.

[01:05:37] Yeah.

[01:05:37] Which means it's adjacent to the Ruth's Chris.

[01:05:41] There's a Courtyard Anaheim Resort Convention Center Hotel next to it.

[01:05:45] But the Toy Story lot is across the street next to the Clarion.

[01:05:49] So geographically speaking, around the same.

[01:05:51] So I assume the price is about the same.

[01:05:54] Yeah.

[01:05:54] If you want to bring a new friend that you met at a vendor event back to your room, go for it.

[01:06:02] Sure.

[01:06:02] Yeah.

[01:06:03] Yeah, at the convention center.

[01:06:04] Mm-hmm.

[01:06:05] I'm trying to find amenities.

[01:06:10] Do they have color?

[01:06:13] No, it's all black and white.

[01:06:16] Tube TVs.

[01:06:17] About us.

[01:06:18] Let's see.

[01:06:18] About us.

[01:06:20] Cozy and convenient stay.

[01:06:22] Okay.

[01:06:23] Resort amenities.

[01:06:23] It's called a resort, by the way.

[01:06:25] Oh.

[01:06:26] A lot of things are right.

[01:06:27] First, I would like to share the first three things listed on the resort amenities on their website.

[01:06:32] Number one, on-site water stations.

[01:06:35] Ooh.

[01:06:36] Water.

[01:06:36] Number two, on-site ATM.

[01:06:39] Yes.

[01:06:41] Water and money.

[01:06:41] Okay.

[01:06:42] Business center, coin laundry, hot buffet breakfast, Wi-Fi, heated outdoor swimming pool, and jacuzzi.

[01:06:51] That's all.

[01:06:52] So you're saying.

[01:06:53] So they do not have color TVs.

[01:06:55] Yeah.

[01:06:56] Yeah.

[01:06:56] But they have a hot buffet breakfast.

[01:07:01] But internet.

[01:07:02] They have eggs.

[01:07:03] We don't know if they're hot.

[01:07:05] Do they have some warm yogurt juice?

[01:07:08] Mm-hmm.

[01:07:10] It says, fresh and tasty options such as eggs, bacon, waffles, fruit, cereal, and more.

[01:07:18] Sure to satisfy everyone, Dan.

[01:07:21] Well.

[01:07:22] So if you're wondering, listener, if you'll be satisfied, the answer is yes, because they're sure to satisfy everyone.

[01:07:27] Fresh and tasty.

[01:07:27] That's a place I will probably be staying at at some point in the near future.

[01:07:32] Looks nice.

[01:07:32] If you can get it.

[01:07:33] Eric, I emailed you the Hansa House song, by the way, if you want to.

[01:07:37] If you want to.

[01:07:38] Which song?

[01:07:38] Do you want to take us out with Hansa?

[01:07:42] I don't know.

[01:07:43] I don't know.

[01:07:43] Listener, if you don't know what Hansa House is.

[01:07:45] Oh, God.

[01:07:47] Well, there are some details about some of the menu options in the song.

[01:07:51] It was a smorgasbord.

[01:07:55] Yes?

[01:07:56] Yes.

[01:07:56] It was a smorgasbord.

[01:07:57] Yeah, Hansa sounds like a smorgasbord sort of place.

[01:08:00] And it was wonderful.

[01:08:01] And it was German for buffet.

[01:08:04] Yes.

[01:08:05] And we would, yeah, you could easily just go there in the middle of the day and eat a ton of meat salad and enjoy the weird kind of sad, but yet whimsically sad decor.

[01:08:22] Regular sad.

[01:08:23] It's fine.

[01:08:27] Okay, so that is the-

[01:08:29] And it closed suddenly, which is the part that makes it especially tragic.

[01:08:34] There was no warning.

[01:08:35] It was just all of a sudden, it's not there.

[01:08:37] No.

[01:08:37] And Dan, it is now what?

[01:08:39] An IHOP.

[01:08:41] Yeah.

[01:08:42] One that I will never visit.

[01:08:46] Let's see if the Cortana's available.

[01:08:47] I'm looking at September of 2025 to see if the Cortana is available.

[01:08:54] I'm trying to find.

[01:08:54] I'm email.

[01:08:56] And I'm main gate.

[01:08:58] I'm trying to find Candy Candy in.

[01:08:59] I'm just muttering things into the microphone.

[01:09:01] Cortana is not available.

[01:09:02] While we're doing this, listen-

[01:09:03] There's a brief period of time where I wanted to quit this podcast.

[01:09:06] If you would like to listen to other podcasts that Eric is on, some of them are on this network.

[01:09:13] That's right.

[01:09:13] This network includes Ears Up.

[01:09:15] That's fine.

[01:09:17] I'm going to just say Ears Up In Depth still exists because I think that's fun to say.

[01:09:21] That's the best one.

[01:09:22] Yeah.

[01:09:22] Yeah.

[01:09:24] You can still find it.

[01:09:25] You can still find it.

[01:09:27] And as you do so, you might be able to find out why it no longer exists as you listen.

[01:09:33] But you listen to it and support it with money.

[01:09:36] Yes.

[01:09:37] Oh, yeah.

[01:09:38] You can support us with money on Patreon.

[01:09:41] Please.

[01:09:41] And if you support enough, you will get your own podcast that Eric may or may not be on.

[01:09:45] Yeah.

[01:09:46] Living Testaments.

[01:09:48] Yeah.

[01:09:48] Yeah.

[01:09:49] And then there's also Peony Pod where they talk about small things.

[01:09:53] Oh, I was on an episode of Peony Pod.

[01:09:57] We talked about Captain Marvel where we mansplained Captain Marvel for you over and over your face.

[01:10:05] Mm-hmm.

[01:10:06] Yeah.

[01:10:07] Yeah.

[01:10:07] And they get split into two episodes.

[01:10:08] The two episodes together are about four hours long.

[01:10:11] Oh, lovely.

[01:10:14] Mini tangents happen.

[01:10:16] And then we have our dealer's choice coming up for Scraping the Vault.

[01:10:19] That's right.

[01:10:19] Starting with Mickey's Christmas Carol.

[01:10:21] That's right.

[01:10:22] And Mickey's Christmas Carol.

[01:10:23] Check your feed.

[01:10:24] There's also Milk Milk Lemonade around the corner of Anthem Milk, Star Wars podcast.

[01:10:32] Let's see.

[01:10:33] What else?

[01:10:34] Eric and I are slowly working through the David Bowie catalog.

[01:10:39] We are working on Low currently.

[01:10:43] That's the name of the album.

[01:10:44] Yeah.

[01:10:45] The name of the album is Low.

[01:10:47] The name of the podcast is Bowie Splaining.

[01:10:50] You can find it all places.

[01:10:52] That's the one.

[01:10:52] Splain it.

[01:10:53] Eric is also on the Hub Crawl, whimsically known as THC occasionally.

[01:11:00] And we all laugh.

[01:11:01] That is the laugh.

[01:11:02] We laugh.

[01:11:03] It's legal now.

[01:11:04] Yeah, it is.

[01:11:05] Well, and then-

[01:11:07] All right.

[01:11:07] Well, so thank you.

[01:11:08] And also, if you're interested in booking any of these hotels-

[01:11:12] Yes.

[01:11:12] That we've painstakingly elaborated-

[01:11:15] Even the bad ones.

[01:11:15] Even the bad ones.

[01:11:17] Concierge, 856 Hour Ears, and we can get you the best possible deal.

[01:11:21] Actually, especially the bad ones.

[01:11:23] Because you could even say like, hey, I heard this place has these issues.

[01:11:27] Can you help me navigate it?

[01:11:29] You know?

[01:11:29] That's right.

[01:11:30] I heard it on the podcast.

[01:11:31] So, listener, thank you for listening.

[01:11:34] And thank you for calling 856R Ears.

[01:11:37] Go to concierge.com.

[01:11:38] Just call it for fun.

[01:11:39] If you just need someone to talk to in these troubling times.

[01:11:42] Say hi.

[01:11:43] Yeah.

[01:11:43] Just when somebody answers, say Baba Booey.

[01:11:47] And hang out.

[01:11:48] Okay.

[01:11:48] Yeah.

[01:11:50] Well, guys, do you have anything else you'd like to add before we finish?

[01:11:53] Baba Booey.

[01:11:55] Baba Booey.

[01:11:55] Good night.

[01:11:57] And again, I've been joking and playing a character this whole time.

[01:12:01] That's right.

[01:12:02] Yeah.

[01:12:02] Which character?

[01:12:03] Don't know.

[01:12:04] I don't know.

[01:12:04] But if you're wondering, it's that one.

[01:12:06] One of them.

[01:12:06] Yeah.

[01:12:07] Yep.

[01:12:08] And okay.

[01:12:09] Well, until next time, everybody.

[01:12:10] Be more now more than ever.

[01:12:12] Be good to each other.

[01:12:15] And until next time, court is adjourned.

[01:12:23] A strong, courtless mirror.

[01:12:30] How he reigns with a sigh and a frown.

[01:12:33] And disdain for the games.

[01:12:35] He moves through the forums with almighty power.

[01:12:38] All the fans and the trolls.

[01:12:40] They flock and they cower.

[01:12:42] Oh, courtless, courtless.

[01:12:44] I'll glance in yore.

[01:12:46] With the heart of a skeptic, Eli posted the lore.

[01:12:50] He lets the wild voices run free in his land.

[01:12:53] Ah, to be in his kingdom beneath his command.

[01:12:58] Every post, every comment, it carries his weight.

[01:13:01] Like the doom of a prophet.

[01:13:03] No room for debate.

[01:13:05] He leaves space for the darkest opinions to grow.

[01:13:08] In the court of the court of the courtless.

[01:13:10] All judgments are slow.

[01:13:12] His loyal amigos cheer him all the way.

[01:13:15] For he rules with the sadness of clouds gone gray.

[01:13:19] His voice like a murmur.

[01:13:21] His mood like the night.

[01:13:22] Yet we stand in his shadow in quiet delight.

[01:13:57] Oh, grand senor.

[01:14:06] Oh, grand senor.

[01:14:08] All the sceptic.

[01:14:10] Oh, grand senor.

[01:14:15] The lord of a skeptic.

[01:14:16] I have lost the dolore.

[01:14:18] He lets the wild voices run free in his land.

[01:14:21] Ah, to be in his kingdom beneath his command.

[01:14:25] Senor Corliss.

[01:14:26] He watches but never will ban.

[01:14:28] With his eeyore eyes and his sheets seek land.

[01:14:31] Oh, the trolls, they dance and shout their cries

[01:14:35] As Tom smirks on under grave weary skies

[01:14:38] Oh, my senor, the pope of complaints

[01:14:44] La voz de dolor

[01:14:46] In a world of enchantment he stands still and faze

[01:14:49] Ay, man, don't score, lest your cease and desist praise

[01:14:54] Yes, we honor you, Tom, with a samba so sweet

[01:14:58] For who else could bring bloom with a rhythm so neat
