By no means the final words on the subject, we delve into the impressions of Producer David following his first-ever visit to Walt Disney World! You met David on our recent runDisney episodes and it's time to hear the dish on which resort is better.
According to David, that is.
We have some great discussion on the experience of visiting the Eastern parks for the first time in terms of prep, cost, and scale. Then we all argue over how wrong David is about which attractions are best. Come on, David. Who has a show about which thing is best? Us.

[00:00:00] Welcome to the Supreme Resort, Land V World, a podcast about Disneyland and Walt Disney World
[00:00:21] and which is the Supreme Resort. Each episode we will discuss and explore each resort ride by
[00:00:29] ride, land by land, park by park to determine which is better. I'm your host, Jimmy.
[00:00:37] Clear, clear. Sorry. Just need to clear my throat for a minute. Just to make sure
[00:00:43] it's been a while, guys. I'm your host, Jimmy, and thank you for joining me on this quest to
[00:00:46] help the greater good of humanity answer this long elusive question, which is better, Disneyland
[00:00:52] or Walt Disney World? Joining me as always, throat clear as a bell, that's Dan.
[00:00:58] Hi. We're back.
[00:01:02] And we're back. We also have Eric. You may have heard him from the last couple of episodes,
[00:01:08] Eric. I'm responsible for this mess. Yes, indeed. Also, you'll know him from the two
[00:01:16] episodes about Run Disney and from puny pod, our producer and guest extraordinaire. That's
[00:01:25] David. Hi, David. Also boys and boy. Let's not lose that credit. He's a boys and boy.
[00:01:31] He's a runner. He's a rugby player and he might be the sexiest 60 year old man I've ever
[00:01:37] seen. Oh, thank you. He's also a host of a certain podcast where they talk about very small things
[00:01:45] called puny pod. That's right. The Hulk is never mentioned. It's an Ant-Man only podcast.
[00:01:52] It is a quantum realm based podcast where we go very micro detail.
[00:02:01] David, thank you for joining us. David is also responsible for some of our favorite past
[00:02:05] guests. Your favorite past guest listener, Julie Tremaine. You remember her? That's because of
[00:02:10] David. Past guests, the lady with the stuff. Yeah. Other things. David, go ahead and give us
[00:02:19] your credit. Well, that was Jack Plotnick. He's not a lady, but he plays ladies.
[00:02:25] That's right. Jack Plotnick. David also Gothic Rosie. Is that right?
[00:02:32] Yeah. We'll take credit for it. It's fine. The less David says, the more we will pile onto him.
[00:02:38] That's right. He has notes. Anyway, David is responsible for a lot of the content that you
[00:02:43] have listened to in the episodes so far. Also a friend and a fan. Thank you for being
[00:02:50] here, David. Appreciate it. Also, David just went to Walt Disney World for the first time.
[00:02:56] That is the bulk of this episode. Before we get there, David and Eric have just finished
[00:03:03] their 10-mile run at Walt Disney World. If you've not listened to those episodes,
[00:03:08] go back and listen. They're a lot of fun. They were remotely recorded in their palatial
[00:03:13] villa at Bonnet Creek Resort, which is technically in the middle of Disney World,
[00:03:17] but not on Disney property. Yeah, fair. Yeah.
[00:03:21] I would like to hear after listening to the two episodes.
[00:03:24] Yeah. I mean, geographically in the dead center of Disney World.
[00:03:28] So there's this weird anus where they own someone else?
[00:03:32] Or sphincter. Yes.
[00:03:33] Or it is the sphincter of Walt Disney World.
[00:03:35] It's the sphincter of Disney World. There is a family who once they found out Disney was
[00:03:39] buying the property said, hell no. We're not going to sell to Disney. Then the people who
[00:03:45] held out died, gave it to their kids. Their kids are like, oh yeah, here you go, Hilton.
[00:03:49] Yeah. So it's across the street from the neighborhood where you can buy on Disney
[00:03:56] property, the rent. What's the one? It's a golden oak. It's across the street.
[00:04:01] So it's the most magical sphincter of them all.
[00:04:03] Correct. The most golden of oaks.
[00:04:06] That's right. So my question, now that you've had a before episode about the races,
[00:04:13] you run Disney at Disney World and you had an after, you've had some time to digest,
[00:04:18] you've slept since then. David, what is your overall impression of run Disney at Disney World?
[00:04:24] Well, as I mentioned on the other show, I've never done a run Disney race. I don't think
[00:04:30] I've ever even done a competitive race before. I mean, not that it was like hyper competitive,
[00:04:35] but I thought it was really well done. It's a great environment. It's fun to run
[00:04:38] through the parks. They have fine tune. It seems pretty well organized. There's not much
[00:04:45] you can really kind of complain about in terms of the way in which it was run.
[00:04:50] It started very early in the morning and I operated on very few hours of sleep,
[00:04:56] but the adrenaline kicked in and I had a really, really fun time running with my buddy Eric
[00:05:02] and with my daughter Olivia. It was fun. So one thing that I missed. Sorry, go ahead, Dan.
[00:05:08] Do you still have nightmares of the balloon ladies?
[00:05:11] I sadly did not see the balloon ladies. I did not. We'll get into when we talk about this part.
[00:05:17] I studiously avoided researching like run Disney or even Walt Disney World in advance
[00:05:22] of the trip. I just kind of wanted to be surprised and see. I was told about the
[00:05:25] balloon ladies. Mike said he got swept up one time, but I have not seen them.
[00:05:30] Okay. So my question having listened to both and forgive me, Eric, if I
[00:05:34] overlooked or did not hear it, but I would like to hear start to finish
[00:05:40] where you went in the race. Where did it start? Where did you run? Where did you end up?
[00:05:45] Because I know you're talking about different parts of it. I don't feel like I could see
[00:05:49] in my mind's eye, the map of where you went. I don't want to ask David because he's probably
[00:05:54] a little more unfamiliar with the property. So Eric, where did you start? Where did you
[00:05:58] finish and what was the wrapped? That's fair. Yeah. And that's what she said.
[00:06:04] Yeah, I'm sorry. Yeah, that is what she said. But what she said was we started out on a route
[00:06:18] that was near Epcot center and we ran through basically Epcot itself, like the World Showcase.
[00:06:26] So early on you're running through the World Showcase. You're saying hi in various languages
[00:06:33] to hola. Ni hao. Bonjour. Okay. Okay. Hello. Italy. Hello. And in Canada, it's like a weird
[00:06:48] version of French. Bonjour. Rocking hello. And then you ran along the very narrow trip between
[00:06:58] Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The World Showplace and that whole, did you run on the
[00:07:04] boardwalk side or the Swann Adolphin side? Or the Beach Club boardwalk? Beach Club. You went
[00:07:09] beyond all of that. Yeah. You kind of ran along the boardwalk side and then went on this
[00:07:15] narrow strip between the boardwalk side and the Swann Adolphin. Did you run under the bridge,
[00:07:23] under the road? Over them. Yeah, you went along the water toward Hollywood Studios and then once
[00:07:33] you got past there, you ran around the whole thing. The Hollywood Studios. Okay. Yeah.
[00:07:38] And David went, oh, I would like to visit this place. While you were running? Yes.
[00:07:44] And then when you visited it, well, this is a question for later. When you visited it,
[00:07:48] did you change your mind? Did you tell him that he should call it 856 RIRs to plan a trip?
[00:07:52] That's right. And yeah, that's what I said. I'm like, I'm running a race. Okay.
[00:07:58] Eric's like, I refuse to answer this question. You must call 856 RIRs. Eric, so you ran,
[00:08:04] did you run into the front gates of Hollywood Studios and down the Main Street or whatever
[00:08:08] it's called? Yeah, pretty much. And then you went west. And then you ran through Galaxy's
[00:08:14] Edge. Yeah. How did you exit the park? Yeah. That was a question. How do you exit the park?
[00:08:24] On foot. Oh my God. David, can you fill in? Do you remember what happened after that?
[00:08:31] I remember. Actually, I'm sorry. Before we move on, fun fact for people, I'm looking at the
[00:08:38] map. There is a hidden Mickey in the race route. I want to look at the map. It's a lot easier.
[00:08:48] I could explain it for everybody. I don't remember. I have vague memories of the actual
[00:08:55] course itself after we left Hollywood Studios. I think we were just on freeway after that
[00:08:59] the whole time. Cloverleafs up and around, back around. And then-
[00:09:04] I remember you talking about that. Yeah. And we ended up at the same,
[00:09:07] I think the same parking lot where we began, if I'm not mistaken.
[00:09:10] Yeah, pretty much. Yeah. It was a boring run down a highway over a highway and onto another
[00:09:17] highway and then onto another highway. And then we were in a parking lot.
[00:09:21] Did you use a zipper method as you were emerging?
[00:09:24] I mostly punched people that were coming toward me.
[00:09:27] Perfect. And unfortunately, one of them was a Sally.
[00:09:32] And Olivia hit back.
[00:09:39] Okay, so it looks like from the map- I lost 20 minutes of my runtime
[00:09:43] after she clocked me right in the face. I'm deducing from the map and from what you
[00:09:50] have said that you possibly went through Galaxy's Edge and then came out on Cyprus,
[00:09:57] ran behind Hollywood Studios, behind the Tower of Terror so you could smell the farts of it.
[00:10:04] And then you went on Cyprus. Well, not many people know that Tower of Terror is the first
[00:10:11] fart-powered ride at Disney World. Welcome to Florida, David. Fart-powered rides.
[00:10:21] Probably Buena Vista Drive, went back and then probably Epcot Resorts Boulevard,
[00:10:30] which is a good name for something that goes to one of many Epcot resorts.
[00:10:36] One of the many places where one of David Selle's children punched me in the face.
[00:10:41] And then probably through Epcot International Gateway.
[00:10:45] Yeah. And then- No, it looks like they went through the parking lot in the front,
[00:10:50] entered around Living with the Land is what it looks like. And then they go through-
[00:10:56] Oh, we did that. Yeah.
[00:10:57] And they went through kind of the front World Discovery and then around World-
[00:11:03] Okay. Yeah, World Discovery.
[00:11:04] Okay. Yeah, okay. Look it up, people. It'll be easier.
[00:11:08] Yeah, yeah. Look up that route. Don't listen to us and don't listen to the entertaining
[00:11:13] aspects where David and his children assaulted me on the way through the end of this trip.
[00:11:22] And I could have finished several minutes before them if they hadn't,
[00:11:27] you know- Assaulted.
[00:11:28] Just thrown me into bushes. Also, fun fact for fans of Hidden
[00:11:33] Mickey's, if you were to look at the map and take the round ball of Spaceship Earth,
[00:11:40] move Photoshop test track, the round test track, just kind of above it. And then Photoshop
[00:11:46] the round part with the seas with Nebo and friends also above Spaceship Earth,
[00:11:51] you would have a Hidden Mickey.
[00:11:54] You need to bring in some Tinkerbell magic into that to also help with the circles.
[00:12:04] Yeah. Tinkerbell was famously a fantastic graphic designer.
[00:12:09] Mm-hmm. That's a lot of highway running.
[00:12:13] That is a lot of highway running.
[00:12:15] It appears you ran past the Mickey Mouse solar panel farm.
[00:12:19] Uh-huh, where David said, why don't they just make it a big rectangle because
[00:12:25] I feel like they're missing out on some square footage of solar energy.
[00:12:32] Yeah. Yeah.
[00:12:33] This is before or after the children hit me in the face.
[00:12:35] He's right.
[00:12:35] It was actually during.
[00:12:40] Listen, you may have noticed that the blows may have given Eric a concussion.
[00:12:46] Okay. David again, thank you for joining. Really, folks, if you have not listened,
[00:12:51] listen back to the two episodes.
[00:12:52] Wait, David's here?
[00:12:54] Listen back to the two episodes of The Run Disney is a lot of fun.
[00:12:58] Also, the founder of Concierge is a part of that. That's Mike Renfro. He was there.
[00:13:04] Listen to that. In the meantime, we wanted to have a follow-up conversation with David,
[00:13:08] not just about Run Disney, which you just heard, but also about his first experience
[00:13:13] to Walt Disney World. This is the first time to Florida in his life.
[00:13:19] I've been to Florida for work, but I've never been to Orlando.
[00:13:23] It's no life then.
[00:13:25] Let me rephrase. This is David's first trip to Disney World.
[00:13:28] Before we explain why that's significant, I have some questions for David.
[00:13:32] David, for context, you're a lawyer.
[00:13:35] Oh no.
[00:13:37] First of all, just so the jury understands
[00:13:41] the significance of your trip to Disney World, how many times have you been to Disneyland?
[00:13:46] I'm not going to get sworn in, right? I'm just going right into it.
[00:13:49] No, you're not allowed to swear. We'll have to beep it.
[00:13:51] Okay. I would say I've probably been, I think about probably 40 times or so,
[00:13:58] 40 to 50 times.
[00:14:00] Let the record show 40 to 50 times.
[00:14:04] I have been an annual pass holder, key holder member for maybe the last 10 or so.
[00:14:12] Wait, at which Disney park?
[00:14:15] Yeah. You've got to be...
[00:14:17] I'm sorry, at Walt Disney.
[00:14:22] Disney California.
[00:14:23] Walt Disney. Yeah, I just had a downtown Disney membership for a long time.
[00:14:29] Then I converted...
[00:14:29] I guess it's a Starbucks punch card.
[00:14:31] And then I converted that to the DCA key and then finally updated and conclude Disneyland.
[00:14:38] Okay, so this is a Disneyland resort annual pass holder, give or take,
[00:14:43] maybe there was a couple of years there you couldn't go because of shutdowns, etc.
[00:14:47] So you've been an annual pass holder off and on for the most part for the last 10 years.
[00:14:51] Been 40 times. You do not live in Orange County. You live in Northern California.
[00:14:55] That is correct.
[00:14:56] This isn't just something on a whim you can go to.
[00:14:59] When was your first visit?
[00:15:00] I feel targeted by that comment and I don't live in Orange County.
[00:15:03] He doesn't live that much further away from it than you do.
[00:15:09] Sure lives from where, from where.
[00:15:12] Okay. David, load up your Google Maps and we're going to account for current traffic.
[00:15:18] If you were to drive to Mickey and Friends parking structure,
[00:15:23] right now, how long would it take you? I'm looking it up myself.
[00:15:26] Let me get my keys. Okay, hang on.
[00:15:28] While you're looking at that. Mickey and Friends.
[00:15:31] David is going to tell us when his first trip to Disneyland was.
[00:15:35] In the meantime, we're going to hear just how long it'll take David to drive.
[00:15:41] It would take me one hour and 55 minutes.
[00:15:43] And he's currently one hours and 55 minutes away.
[00:15:46] This is a Saturday afternoon.
[00:15:48] On a good day, it's less than that. How many?
[00:15:51] Six hours, five minutes.
[00:15:52] Six hours. I've got 14 hours and 12 minutes, Jimmy.
[00:15:56] Mine, 2700 hours. David is.
[00:16:02] Jimmy's walking it, it sounds like.
[00:16:04] Yeah. You ran a 10 mile or just watch.
[00:16:09] To answer your question, first time I went, I remember going as a little kid.
[00:16:15] My mom did not have a car so I remember flying on a plane.
[00:16:18] I think that was my first time on a plane. I remember throwing up into a vomit bag.
[00:16:25] Yeah, it was pretty, pretty. You show that plane.
[00:16:28] You show it. Since then,
[00:16:30] I've had a love of flying on commercial planes. I remember going to SeaWorld in San Diego
[00:16:36] and have vague memories of Disneyland, but that was the first time.
[00:16:40] And then I didn't go again until my kids were very young and then started going.
[00:16:45] That was probably going with my kids starting around 2005 or so.
[00:16:50] How many vomits were from your children and how many were from you?
[00:16:56] It was all for me on that one flight.
[00:16:59] I'd never experienced turbulence before and the plane smelled funny.
[00:17:03] After the vomit, that makes sense.
[00:17:06] The little known fact, vomit is a dissolving agent of airplane doorknots.
[00:17:12] So that's how you escape from an airplane.
[00:17:15] David might be responsible for the falling off doors of Boeing airplanes.
[00:17:21] So Boeing, you can stop killing off your whistleblowers and just blame it on the
[00:17:31] people flying.
[00:17:33] David, so you've been going since you were a kid, but in earnest,
[00:17:38] you've been going for let's say 20 years. Sounds about right, yep.
[00:17:41] In earnest as an adult, as a grown ass man, as they say.
[00:17:47] So you've mostly experienced Disneyland as an adult.
[00:17:50] So you don't really have a ton of childhood nostalgia.
[00:17:53] You weren't like an annual pass holder as a teenager.
[00:17:55] You're a Disney adult for lack of a better term.
[00:17:58] Yep. I would say that's right.
[00:18:00] Mostly experiencing it through my kids when I would take them and they really enjoyed it.
[00:18:05] But you also now go sans children.
[00:18:08] From time to time.
[00:18:10] Correct. Yep.
[00:18:11] What is your favorite ride at all of the Disneyland resorts?
[00:18:17] It's probably the Astro Orbiter with an E.
[00:18:19] No, I'm kidding.
[00:18:22] I would say in Disneyland, it would be Rise of the Resistance and in DCA,
[00:18:28] it would be Grizzly.
[00:18:30] I have a bone of contention about the episode with the best ride queue,
[00:18:36] single rider queue, which is the best ride queue.
[00:18:39] We're out of time. Thank you for joining us.
[00:18:41] All right, hey!
[00:18:43] You have a great trip to Disney World.
[00:18:46] Con-Tiers, 856 hour years.
[00:18:50] Oh sorry, there's more.
[00:18:52] Your attention please.
[00:18:54] David, you're not eligible for comment on previous episodes,
[00:19:16] but you do believe that Grizzly River Run is the best single rider line?
[00:19:20] I think it's very good in the sense that it is always fast.
[00:19:27] Eric and I talked about some of the single rider queues.
[00:19:30] There's an anticipation sensation if you're at the front of the single rider
[00:19:36] and you keep getting passed over and over and over like Matterhorn.
[00:19:39] You can be very frustrating when you just aren't getting on.
[00:19:42] And we'll take threes and twos.
[00:19:46] It's a big time saver.
[00:19:48] You're on pretty quickly.
[00:19:50] I don't think it has the creep factor that you all talked about.
[00:19:53] I think it's actually, you're in a boat with obviously a bunch of people you don't know.
[00:19:59] But I find it to be a little more sociable.
[00:20:04] Well, creep factor is also subjective.
[00:20:07] I need to find a creepier theme song to go along with this.
[00:20:10] Any of the listeners, do you have in your mind playing the song that is coming up in
[00:20:17] my head that sounds like maybe a Disney or Nickelodeon sort of
[00:20:21] song of a children's learning show called Anticipation Sensation?
[00:20:26] Anticipation sensation.
[00:20:29] I don't know.
[00:20:30] Anyway, so he said that earlier.
[00:20:37] One of the things I like about this show is we are talking about incredibly subjective matters
[00:20:42] and we try to be as objective as possible.
[00:20:45] But there's no way anyone in their right mind would say that
[00:20:50] Web Slingers is the best single writer line.
[00:20:52] How we landed there, I think was well executed.
[00:20:57] It seemed to revolve around what's air conditioned and what's not in the sun.
[00:21:01] And that seemed to be like the number one criteria.
[00:21:03] And David, because of this subjectivity of the nature of these parks, if you were the
[00:21:08] host or judge, excuse me, of the show, we were to do it all over again.
[00:21:11] We could have gotten a hundred different people and gotten a hundred different answers, right?
[00:21:16] So your opinion is not valid.
[00:21:18] And that's our next episode.
[00:21:20] Okay.
[00:21:21] So favorite rides are Rise of the Resistance and Grizzly River Run.
[00:21:26] You prefer that single writer line.
[00:21:28] It's good to know.
[00:21:29] All right.
[00:21:30] Now, moving on to Walt Disney World.
[00:21:31] Before you went, what are the top five things that you knew you wanted to do
[00:21:38] outside of running 10 miles?
[00:21:40] That you wanted to do at Disney World?
[00:21:43] So not die was the number one.
[00:21:46] Step one.
[00:21:47] I was, you know, it's funny as I mentioned before.
[00:21:49] You didn't die.
[00:21:51] Mission accomplished.
[00:21:52] Mission accomplished.
[00:21:54] Eric was there so I did no pre-trip work.
[00:21:58] I didn't research things.
[00:21:59] I didn't like look at ride throughs.
[00:22:01] I don't look at videos.
[00:22:02] And so I didn't have, oh, I really want to eat here or we really want to see
[00:22:05] this show for the most part.
[00:22:07] So I wanted to kind of come in as uninformed as possible.
[00:22:11] So I raised my brain in the last several years of this podcast and then went.
[00:22:17] But so for me, the things I really were looking forward to were
[00:22:20] the some of the really unique rides that you all have talked about.
[00:22:24] So things like Motorcycle Space Mountain, the Tron ride and Soarin' Over Pandora.
[00:22:33] I was looking forward to that one.
[00:22:34] And Remy's.
[00:22:36] Those were like the three.
[00:22:38] I think those are the three rides I really wanted to do.
[00:22:40] And then just to compare, you know, all the rides that I was familiar with,
[00:22:44] that I'm very familiar with from Disneyland.
[00:22:46] So like the mountains and small, you know, small world,
[00:22:49] haunted mansion, all that pirates.
[00:22:51] So those were the.
[00:22:52] So is that all considered one thing?
[00:22:54] So not thighs number one, not number two is all those rides or those.
[00:22:58] Yeah, I kind of, I kind of cheat a little bit, Jimmy.
[00:23:00] I, I, I said.
[00:23:02] There's a lot.
[00:23:03] Yeah.
[00:23:03] A lot.
[00:23:04] I probably have over five,
[00:23:05] but I, like I said, it was the three unique rides.
[00:23:08] It was experiencing the rent is an event, not getting swept.
[00:23:12] And then just some of the, just some of the comparison rides.
[00:23:16] So I don't believe he went on that ride.
[00:23:18] He does not know what that means.
[00:23:20] We totally went on.
[00:23:21] Oh, the.
[00:23:23] Yes, you did.
[00:23:23] Three of you Mexican Boat Party.
[00:23:26] That was the.
[00:23:27] No, because he had his kids stand.
[00:23:29] Oh, there were five of us.
[00:23:31] Why'd you ruin it and let your kids ride?
[00:23:33] You should have done your three caballeros ride of the caballeros.
[00:23:37] Right.
[00:23:38] I insisted that they ride a different boat, but they wouldn't go.
[00:23:41] Did we have, did we have in this show?
[00:23:44] Have we ever found an analog for Grand Fiesta tour monsters?
[00:23:51] Yeah, that's right.
[00:23:51] We did the whole show on it as a matter of fact.
[00:23:54] I totally won.
[00:23:55] All right now, David.
[00:23:58] Okay.
[00:23:58] So you, you did basically all the five things you wanted to do.
[00:24:02] You did.
[00:24:02] Yep, I did.
[00:24:04] Like I said, I had a few preconceived rides and the event and then just experience it
[00:24:11] and just having kind of an open, open mind and perspective just on things.
[00:24:15] And so yeah.
[00:24:17] In thinking about Disney World, having been to Disneyland, let's say 50 times over
[00:24:21] the course of your lifetime, most of that being over the last 20 years,
[00:24:25] having never been having listened to podcasts about it,
[00:24:28] having just in the zeitgeist or whatever.
[00:24:31] What did you expect overall?
[00:24:33] What was your overall expectations about what Disney World would feel like?
[00:24:37] What, what would it be?
[00:24:38] It's a good question.
[00:24:39] I, I felt like it was going to just be without knowing anything,
[00:24:44] just a larger version of Disneyland and DC.
[00:24:47] I just thought it was just imagine that and just multiply it by five.
[00:24:51] And it wasn't quite like that.
[00:24:55] Like there were certainly parts.
[00:24:56] I think part of it might've been like the order in which we saw
[00:24:58] who went to the different parks.
[00:24:59] So we started at animal kingdom day one, bopped over to Epcot.
[00:25:03] We didn't get to Hollywood studios until day three.
[00:25:08] And so the thing I kind of noticed early on, it like didn't like first two days
[00:25:12] didn't really feel like I was in a Disney park.
[00:25:14] There was no like, like theming in like the parking lot areas.
[00:25:19] I would say animal kingdom.
[00:25:19] It's not like, you know, I mean, you're gonna see some elements,
[00:25:22] but you're not going to see like heavy Disney influences, if you will.
[00:25:27] I will say that words do not describe how large the parks are and the parking lots
[00:25:35] are ginormous and everything is just, I was unprepared for how massive it is.
[00:25:42] Yeah. If you, if you were to tell me you were going to run 10 miles,
[00:25:45] you could have just run around Epcot's parking lot a few times.
[00:25:48] Yeah, totally.
[00:25:49] It's just, it is bonkers how, uh, how large that place is.
[00:25:54] And so I had no, you know, I didn't really know too much about how like the logistics
[00:26:00] of things, everything is a shuttle or a lift.
[00:26:04] There is no sidewalk.
[00:26:05] There is no walking to the parks.
[00:26:08] With the exception clearly between Epcot and Hollywood studios.
[00:26:12] Which you ran as part of our, our paid, uh, 10 mile run.
[00:26:17] Very limited exception.
[00:26:19] And of course you can walk between the Polynesian and Magic Kingdom and the
[00:26:25] contemporary Magic Kingdom, but you can't walk from the Polynesian to contemporary
[00:26:30] without going around the lake, which is kind of dumb.
[00:26:33] Why they don't have everything now.
[00:26:35] Have they now?
[00:26:36] Yes, they have.
[00:26:37] So there's your 5k.
[00:26:40] Just saying.
[00:26:41] I think I'd rather run in the park.
[00:26:43] Well, I'm just saying.
[00:26:44] I'm just gonna tell you.
[00:26:44] It's nice.
[00:26:45] Uh, but so with that space, the one thing, one of the things that really
[00:26:49] kind of jumped out at me is like you go to Disneyland and you can feel when
[00:26:53] it's crowded and it's a lot of people and there are like crowd choke points
[00:26:59] and I would describe them all throughout Disneyland.
[00:27:02] Everybody knows where they are.
[00:27:03] Right.
[00:27:03] And, uh, and now it's Ventraland.
[00:27:07] Uh, yeah, go ahead.
[00:27:09] It's like it's all over.
[00:27:11] Yeah.
[00:27:11] Most of them were there.
[00:27:13] Tomorrowland, uh, uh, up by small world.
[00:27:19] Fantasyland, all of it.
[00:27:20] All of fantasyland.
[00:27:21] All of fantasyland.
[00:27:23] Um, yeah.
[00:27:25] So going into the crotch of critter country.
[00:27:29] Uh, bathroom number three in Norland square.
[00:27:32] So you're saying that the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World is better
[00:27:36] across the board.
[00:27:37] All right, let's continue.
[00:27:39] Didn't quite say that.
[00:27:40] Um, but, uh, but yeah, so with that, that part was so navigating was pretty,
[00:27:47] pretty easy.
[00:27:47] Um, the, I think one of the things you talk about oftentimes on the show
[00:27:52] where the cues and the cues are, are really, most of them are very good.
[00:27:56] Get you out of the sun.
[00:27:57] Uh, I like you have a lot of ride cameras, which I was unprepared for.
[00:28:01] No, for video on ride photos.
[00:28:03] Yeah.
[00:28:03] The, there's a, uh, a great photo of being the kids, three grown adults in the,
[00:28:10] one of the doom buggies at the, uh, it's like, oh, I could put the son
[00:28:14] of Christmas card.
[00:28:15] Looks great.
[00:28:16] Dan and Eric really quick, um, future March madness best on ride photo.
[00:28:21] Ooh, yeah.
[00:28:24] Haunted mansion.
[00:28:25] So are people going to send in their pictures?
[00:28:28] Yes.
[00:28:30] That's right.
[00:28:30] Can I send in your pictures too?
[00:28:32] I was going to send in a picture, but, but only if it brought one of the
[00:28:35] presidents with me from the hall of presidents.
[00:28:37] Oh my God.
[00:28:38] And then mildly too.
[00:28:38] Is it Millard Fillmore?
[00:28:41] That'd be an odd, uh, wonderful photo op is you could get your picture taken.
[00:28:49] Oh my God.
[00:28:49] Right.
[00:28:49] President Trapp.
[00:28:50] Why don't they do that?
[00:28:51] Millard Fillmore.
[00:28:52] Oh my God.
[00:28:52] That'd be great.
[00:28:53] Anyway.
[00:28:54] All right.
[00:28:54] So, so, uh, David, um, you kind of heard what you kind of expected and
[00:28:59] then what your overall impression was.
[00:29:01] It's no way to describe the size.
[00:29:03] Um, you liked the indoor queue aspect.
[00:29:06] You liked the on-ride photo aspect.
[00:29:09] What overall was the single best thing about Walt Disney World?
[00:29:14] Somebody you come home and somebody says, okay, you can only tell me
[00:29:18] one thing.
[00:29:18] What is the best part of Walt Disney World?
[00:29:20] Incessant drinking.
[00:29:22] No, I'm kidding.
[00:29:22] Um, I would say, uh, the, I'd say the best thing about
[00:29:27] Walt Disney World is that it is because this is going to sound backwards, but
[00:29:31] because there are fewer rides and attractions, it kind of forces you to
[00:29:35] spend a little bit more time either with like other elements of the park.
[00:29:39] And I wasn't there long enough to really do that and say like Epcot
[00:29:42] or Hollywood studios, but it seems like there are a lot of exhibits,
[00:29:45] which I think are kind of cool.
[00:29:47] Um, and, and allows you to kind of pay a little bit more attention at times.
[00:29:52] I think it does know and especially when I go, usually it's like, Hey,
[00:29:55] Sammy rides can crush and there are certain things you kind of want to do as to do's.
[00:30:00] And the times when I take the opportunity to just kind of sit back
[00:30:04] and observe architecture or something, it's always something new that I see.
[00:30:09] And so the thing with Walt Disney World, I think that I enjoyed was the
[00:30:13] fact that there was a lot of attention to detail and just not enough time to
[00:30:17] do it all.
[00:30:17] There's just so much.
[00:30:19] Okay.
[00:30:19] And that gets us to another question in a minute before we get there.
[00:30:22] What was the most disappointing part of Walt Disney World?
[00:30:25] Oh, no.
[00:30:27] So I was promised by Eric that there would be a drug naked man on small world
[00:30:34] and that was stopped case.
[00:30:35] So no Florida.
[00:30:36] He was talking about himself, but okay.
[00:30:39] All right.
[00:30:39] Well, you know what?
[00:30:41] I couldn't find the drugs and 40 minutes, 21 seconds.
[00:30:47] So instead it was a sober naked man because he couldn't find his drugs.
[00:30:52] I'd say that the most, I would say there were probably two things.
[00:30:59] One, and again, this is just because of the order of the parks I went in.
[00:31:02] It didn't feel like I was in Disneyland or at Disney Park, I should
[00:31:05] say until like day three and stuff closes earlier.
[00:31:08] And, and I didn't think about the logistics.
[00:31:13] So the night where we ended up at Magic Kingdom, it's a little bit late.
[00:31:18] We're trying to get in a couple more rides and you, you dominated.
[00:31:23] The last few hours of rides.
[00:31:25] Yeah.
[00:31:26] Eric and Michael, like, Hey, we're done with this.
[00:31:28] We're getting out there.
[00:31:29] Mike and I went, all right, we're done.
[00:31:31] They're like, they're like blackjack dealers in Vegas to kind of like
[00:31:34] wipe their hands and they kind of like walk away from the, from the,
[00:31:37] from the poker deck.
[00:31:38] But, but getting like navigating around, we got caught in the
[00:31:43] firework show and we had to go, we were, I guess on the right side
[00:31:47] and we wanted to get over to jungle cruise.
[00:31:50] So we had to come all the way down Main Street, all the way back up
[00:31:53] we actually got separated a moment in time that was kind of freaked me out
[00:31:56] a little bit because I thought they're right behind me, but we were able
[00:31:58] to get back together.
[00:31:59] But then you only have two children.
[00:32:02] I only have two as long as they come back with both of them.
[00:32:05] I could come back with one and that's better than none.
[00:32:07] But, but then the, just the, there was the moment when we got out
[00:32:11] and I remember Eric and Mike said, well, you can get, you can take
[00:32:14] a bus to one of the hotels and then take a lift from there.
[00:32:18] But there was a moment of panic of like, oh, there are
[00:32:21] thousands of people leaving and the boats are going to be filled
[00:32:24] and the shuttle, I'm not going to be able to get a lift for the life
[00:32:27] of me.
[00:32:28] And so there was, that was probably that was a little moment of panic
[00:32:30] as opposed to just, oh, I'll just traipse back to my hotel or
[00:32:33] just walk down Harvard Boulevard.
[00:32:35] Right?
[00:32:35] Like, so that part was, I think that's the part that I dislike.
[00:32:39] Yeah.
[00:32:39] The, the trick there is to walk to the contemporary gear, get your
[00:32:43] lift from there.
[00:32:44] Which I think we're monorail.
[00:32:45] Okay.
[00:32:46] Yeah.
[00:32:46] We did, like, so we took a bus to, I don't know what, uh, some
[00:32:50] place.
[00:32:50] I don't know.
[00:32:51] No, yeah.
[00:32:52] Yeah.
[00:32:52] You went to the Riviera hotel.
[00:32:57] Oh yeah.
[00:32:57] I think that's right.
[00:32:58] Yeah.
[00:32:58] In Vegas, we, uh, I fell asleep on the bus and man, I woke up so
[00:33:03] confused.
[00:33:05] And, uh, yeah.
[00:33:06] Woke up in Walt Disney World.
[00:33:08] It was fine.
[00:33:09] Passed by the circus.
[00:33:10] Circus.
[00:33:11] I have a question and this might be on your list and forgive
[00:33:15] me if I ask what was the weirdest as someone going from
[00:33:19] one park from Disneyland, a Disneyland experience to a
[00:33:23] Disney World experience.
[00:33:24] What was the weirdest thing?
[00:33:29] Like the most like uncanny Valley moment for you.
[00:33:32] Oh, I would say probably in animal kingdom, that little
[00:33:36] weird dinosaur area.
[00:33:38] Okay.
[00:33:40] It's a little wow.
[00:33:41] With a little carny land that's going away.
[00:33:43] Yeah.
[00:33:44] That that struck me.
[00:33:45] Chester and Hester's Dino Rama.
[00:33:47] Yeah, that's seemed to struck me as a little not very
[00:33:50] farmish.
[00:33:50] Um, sure.
[00:33:51] Yeah.
[00:33:51] Yeah.
[00:33:53] More than a little.
[00:33:54] Yeah.
[00:33:54] More than a little.
[00:33:56] That was probably the, the.
[00:33:58] I think it wishes it was not very far.
[00:34:01] Yeah.
[00:34:02] Fair enough.
[00:34:03] So, and again, forgive me if I'm stepping on any toes
[00:34:07] here, but how, how, how was, was Pirates of the Caribbean
[00:34:13] part of the weirdness for you?
[00:34:15] Cause to me that was, that is such a weird, I, I, I'm not
[00:34:19] being, it's not in a critical sense, but like for me, for
[00:34:23] I enjoy ride.
[00:34:24] I think I know I've said on the show before I enjoy
[00:34:26] riding the pirates at Disney World almost more than
[00:34:32] Disneyland, even though objectively I feel Disneyland
[00:34:35] is far better children.
[00:34:38] It's just because it's just weird perspective.
[00:34:40] I was going to say, let's talk about this.
[00:34:42] That was my last question, but we can skip it up.
[00:34:44] So before you answer David, follow up question.
[00:34:47] What is the best version of pirates and why is your
[00:34:49] daughter wrong?
[00:34:51] You broke up for a sec, but I think you were asking
[00:34:54] my daughter who Eric caught on film saying that pirates
[00:34:58] at Walt Disney World was better.
[00:35:02] Yeah.
[00:35:02] The question was what is the best version of pirates
[00:35:05] and why is your daughter wrong?
[00:35:10] Breaking news.
[00:35:11] You can answer both questions.
[00:35:13] It was part of the weirdness pirates and which is
[00:35:17] better and Eric then tell us why your children
[00:35:21] changed his mind.
[00:35:23] It's a multi-parter.
[00:35:24] It feels like, it feels like an exam.
[00:35:26] So it definitely it's, it's, it's just not,
[00:35:31] it's just not what I'm used to.
[00:35:33] Like the, from, from the outside going through
[00:35:36] the janky chain at Disneyland, queue outside,
[00:35:41] you pick left or right.
[00:35:43] It's always right or always left.
[00:35:45] I should say, and then you're on the ride.
[00:35:47] You're, you're right there and you're in the blue
[00:35:49] Bayou, which is obviously, you know, very reminiscent
[00:35:52] of pirates from a couple hundred years ago.
[00:35:54] And it, and then just after that, like the ride
[00:35:59] just seemed sort of like a different ride at times.
[00:36:01] It's much shorter.
[00:36:03] And I think the reason why my daughter liked it
[00:36:05] more is because she doesn't love pirates.
[00:36:07] Pirates is my son's favorite ride.
[00:36:09] He, you know, I think the queue's better.
[00:36:12] Don't get me wrong, but
[00:36:14] Brian also expressed that the shorter ride was better.
[00:36:20] I think he liked the longer ride.
[00:36:21] He did miss the pirate water smell.
[00:36:23] That was the other thing.
[00:36:24] Get him on video.
[00:36:29] Maybe he's more honest with me than you.
[00:36:31] I don't know.
[00:36:33] And Eric is Brian's new dad.
[00:36:39] But I would say like, how do you feel like it's Dan?
[00:36:41] I'm just curious.
[00:36:42] Like, how do you feel like it's weird?
[00:36:43] Just, just that it just seems like a different
[00:36:45] different experience or, or what sense?
[00:36:49] It's more like I'm trying to remember the feeling
[00:36:53] that I had while, while riding it the first time.
[00:36:54] It was really the first time that I felt granted.
[00:36:57] I wrote it pretty early in my first trip.
[00:37:00] So it's not like I had several days and then all of a
[00:37:03] sudden it's like, oh, now I get it.
[00:37:05] But I just remember writing it and there were all
[00:37:10] of these little tiny like things that like
[00:37:15] just weren't called children.
[00:37:18] No, so there was aspects of the ride that
[00:37:21] weren't as dialed in and felt not as thought about
[00:37:25] as Disneyland's.
[00:37:27] And it kind of occurred to me that like, okay.
[00:37:31] So I'm kind of seeing here that because of the
[00:37:34] bigness of everything, every little detail has less
[00:37:39] of a chance to be noticed by everyone, including
[00:37:42] the people running the place.
[00:37:45] So there's a better chance that if like, let's say,
[00:37:49] and I'm not one of those people where it's just
[00:37:50] like, oh, that light used to be on, but like
[00:37:53] those kinds of things where it's like, if like
[00:37:57] a bulb goes out because that's what bulbs do,
[00:38:00] it's way more likely that it's going to be missed
[00:38:03] for a longer period of time at Disney World.
[00:38:05] And that's in general, not just the ride pipes
[00:38:08] of the Caribbean.
[00:38:08] No, but that's the moment where I, you're right,
[00:38:11] but that's the moment where I noticed it
[00:38:13] because it was like some of the lighting was
[00:38:16] a little bit to my eye off or like there
[00:38:21] were some parts where like some lights went
[00:38:25] or I don't know why I'm focusing that,
[00:38:26] but stuff like that.
[00:38:27] Like some of the lights were like aimed in a way
[00:38:31] that like kind of like shined in my face
[00:38:34] at certain points.
[00:38:35] I'm like, that wouldn't have happened in Disneyland.
[00:38:38] And it's just this general feeling of like,
[00:38:41] well, here's another Pirates ride because
[00:38:44] we needed a Pirates ride.
[00:38:45] Right.
[00:38:46] Well, yeah, and this is for me and perhaps
[00:38:48] some of the listeners every episode is somebody's first.
[00:38:52] Famous story, they were not going to build
[00:38:54] Pirates of the Caribbean at Disney World.
[00:38:55] They're deliberately not going to because they were
[00:38:57] so close to the Caribbean.
[00:38:58] So they're like, we're not doing that.
[00:38:59] Instead, we're going to do the Western River Adventure,
[00:39:02] which is this sort of multi-tier multifaceted
[00:39:05] kind of a Western Pirates version of the ride.
[00:39:08] And then they open it like, hey, where's Pirates?
[00:39:10] Because Walt Disney was on TV a couple years ago
[00:39:13] telling me all about it.
[00:39:13] And then they opened it.
[00:39:14] Where's the Pirates ride?
[00:39:16] And then funding, oil embargoes, et cetera.
[00:39:19] They're like, screw it, no more River Adventure.
[00:39:22] We're doing Pirates and it is very shoehorned.
[00:39:24] And it feels like it.
[00:39:25] Right.
[00:39:26] Or another experience for me was when I was in
[00:39:28] Tomorrowland for the first time at Disney World
[00:39:31] and I was like, oh, I guess I'll just hop on the train.
[00:39:34] And then it turned into, why isn't there a train
[00:39:37] in Tomorrowland?
[00:39:39] It would make a lot of sense for one to be there.
[00:39:40] There used to be.
[00:39:42] And it's not so much that it's wrong
[00:39:44] that it's not there.
[00:39:45] It's just that's what I'm used to.
[00:39:47] I'm just saying that younger folks who are not
[00:39:53] completely committed to the seven and a half minute
[00:39:57] pirate experience are saying, you know what?
[00:40:00] I have enough.
[00:40:02] I'm content with this amount of Pirates.
[00:40:05] What you want out of Pirates without all the extra.
[00:40:08] So for this TikTok society, they prefer the shorter version
[00:40:12] because I got the gist.
[00:40:13] I don't need the buy you.
[00:40:15] I don't need the slow.
[00:40:16] I don't need the kids.
[00:40:17] I don't need the lift back uphill because I'm done
[00:40:19] with the ride.
[00:40:20] I'm out.
[00:40:20] Right.
[00:40:21] Yeah.
[00:40:21] And Mark Davis was all, yeah, I don't understand
[00:40:25] that whole uphill thing.
[00:40:27] I don't care.
[00:40:28] How about we just make people get off the boat?
[00:40:31] That's something that I think we may have talked
[00:40:33] about before the Disney World does.
[00:40:35] I don't want to say better, but a lot more exiting
[00:40:39] the queue in a different area than you load.
[00:40:42] Well, there's a lot more space to do that.
[00:40:43] And Walt Disney World won that episode,
[00:40:48] those two episodes clearly.
[00:40:51] All three of those episodes, Walt Disney World won.
[00:40:53] Sure didn't.
[00:40:54] And nobody can say anything different because I'm lying.
[00:41:02] And there will be an appellate court being introduced
[00:41:05] to this show sooner or later.
[00:41:07] Okay.
[00:41:08] So David, would you?
[00:41:10] By the way, I will file a friend of the court brief
[00:41:13] for that.
[00:41:13] Okay, thank you.
[00:41:14] Sure.
[00:41:15] Okay.
[00:41:15] David, would you go back to Disney World?
[00:41:18] Yeah, of course.
[00:41:21] I felt like even with the amount of time we had there,
[00:41:24] we barely put a dent in it, to be honest.
[00:41:27] And you were there for three days.
[00:41:30] We were there.
[00:41:31] We were in the parks on, we got there Friday night.
[00:41:35] We're in the parks on Saturday.
[00:41:36] We're in the parks for half of Sunday after the race.
[00:41:41] Right.
[00:41:41] We're in the parks on Monday.
[00:41:43] And then my folks flew back.
[00:41:45] My daughter flew back to college on Tuesday morning.
[00:41:48] And then my son and I went into the park for like a few hours.
[00:41:52] And then went to work.
[00:41:52] So it's fair to say three total days, two full days,
[00:41:57] a couple half days.
[00:41:58] Yep.
[00:41:58] That sounds about right.
[00:41:59] Yep.
[00:41:59] I have a question for Jimmy and Eric.
[00:42:01] And this is a purely theoretical question.
[00:42:04] How long would it take for a person
[00:42:07] to meaningfully engage in every aspect of Walt Disney World?
[00:42:12] I'm sure there's been studies.
[00:42:14] One week.
[00:42:14] I mean, every aspect is very broad.
[00:42:17] Seven days.
[00:42:18] All the resorts.
[00:42:20] Yeah, maybe not stay at every resort,
[00:42:22] but have enough time in every resort
[00:42:25] to feel like you've seen it.
[00:42:26] Maybe not eat at every restaurant.
[00:42:30] Seven days, you think?
[00:42:31] Seven days.
[00:42:32] Ten days?
[00:42:33] Ten.
[00:42:33] A little bit too much.
[00:42:34] Between seven and ten days.
[00:42:36] I would say a month.
[00:42:38] Yeah, I would say to experience everything.
[00:42:41] You need a month.
[00:42:42] Yeah, I would imagine.
[00:42:44] The place is ginormous.
[00:42:46] So at least a week is what we're saying.
[00:42:48] No, I'm legit, Dan.
[00:42:50] A month.
[00:42:51] I'd say a month.
[00:42:52] You would need a month to fully feel like you did everything.
[00:42:55] And I'm talking like, well, I'm talking like maybe half a day at each water park.
[00:43:01] You go on the bigger slides at the water park.
[00:43:05] Say there's 30-something resorts.
[00:43:06] Ginormous two weeks devoted to each mini golf course.
[00:43:12] Well, I'm just saying that's mini golf, full golf, horseback riding.
[00:43:15] Right.
[00:43:16] The hoop to do review.
[00:43:17] Right.
[00:43:17] Like I'm talking about all of those things.
[00:43:19] Like you play a round of golf.
[00:43:21] You go on a horseback ride.
[00:43:22] I think a month sounds about right actually.
[00:43:25] And you probably wouldn't be able to do everything.
[00:43:26] Definitely wouldn't be able to stay in all the hotels,
[00:43:28] which that's not part of the equation.
[00:43:30] That's not part of it.
[00:43:30] Yeah.
[00:43:31] David, how many hotels did you stay in?
[00:43:34] In your life.
[00:43:37] Since...
[00:43:38] Answer now.
[00:43:39] 1969.
[00:43:39] Oh my God, I don't know.
[00:43:40] Great question.
[00:43:41] What time are we going?
[00:43:42] I'm not telling you how long it's been.
[00:43:43] When it's Disneyland, it's been four hotels, but five.
[00:43:47] No, five.
[00:43:48] Yeah, we stayed just the one.
[00:43:50] I can't, I would say that just seeing how broad everything is,
[00:43:54] you would have to be like a month just to get everything in.
[00:43:57] Yeah.
[00:43:58] And I'm not even, I'm anywhere of like a third of the stuff.
[00:44:01] So the legit question to kind of piggybacking on it is
[00:44:05] when you go back, how long will you stay?
[00:44:09] I would say...
[00:44:10] Or how many days should one go to Walt Disney World
[00:44:13] to feel like they experienced without taking a month,
[00:44:17] which is unrealistic.
[00:44:18] Yeah.
[00:44:18] Regular vacation.
[00:44:19] I'd say at least five days.
[00:44:20] However, if you would like, I'm sorry,
[00:44:21] if you would like to book a month vacation at...
[00:44:23] 8-5-6 hour years.
[00:44:25] There it is.
[00:44:26] So yeah, so a week.
[00:44:29] Five days in the park.
[00:44:30] So let's call it, leave on, get there on Sunday,
[00:44:34] Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday in the parks,
[00:44:38] leave Saturday.
[00:44:39] Something to really feel like you've done a lot of stuff.
[00:44:42] I mean, I, you saw the, and we'll probably get into it in a minute.
[00:44:46] We talk about like the ride list.
[00:44:47] Like I barely got through anything in like Hollywood Studios, for example.
[00:44:53] So, yeah.
[00:44:55] So let's say you go, let's just say you go for a week next time.
[00:45:01] Which park would you skip?
[00:45:03] Oh, you can only go to three.
[00:45:05] Animal Kingdom.
[00:45:07] Why?
[00:45:08] Because you hate animals, clearly.
[00:45:10] Because I can't eat the animals as Eric promised me we could.
[00:45:14] I thought it was...
[00:45:15] You didn't get the VIP tour.
[00:45:18] I thought it was the Kibumjer shooting safari
[00:45:22] and it was just the shooting was not part of it.
[00:45:24] No, they have a special tour where if you can,
[00:45:27] if you can catch the animal with your bare hands, you can eat it.
[00:45:29] And they'll prepare it.
[00:45:31] Okay.
[00:45:32] That's extra.
[00:45:33] Also humans.
[00:45:36] The most dangerous game.
[00:45:38] Cannibalism, the ride.
[00:45:42] Okay.
[00:45:44] Only reason I say that is because there are probably five or six like premier rides
[00:45:51] and it did them all.
[00:45:52] And so if I could not do it, that's the one I would skip.
[00:45:55] But I really liked it in looking at it quite a bit.
[00:45:57] Yeah.
[00:45:57] Ironically, the single largest Disney theme park on the planet.
[00:46:01] With arguably the least to do.
[00:46:03] Well, in my experience, Animal Kingdom is the one that I am aware
[00:46:08] that I am doing the most wrong every time I go.
[00:46:12] Because it would be so nice to just hang out, take in the vibes,
[00:46:19] sit across the glass from like an orangutan and just be like,
[00:46:23] what's up, orangutan?
[00:46:24] Let's connect, dude.
[00:46:27] Hello, Daniel.
[00:46:28] Oh, hello.
[00:46:30] Have you heard of Push Pop?
[00:46:33] I would love one.
[00:46:35] Thank you so much.
[00:46:36] Just smoosh it against the glass and I will like it.
[00:46:39] All I have is mango.
[00:46:42] Okay, so David.
[00:46:45] You also have to grab it because his arms are way up here.
[00:46:49] Anyway.
[00:46:54] But to your point, I would agree, Dan,
[00:46:57] like that I felt like I didn't experience any of the cool
[00:47:02] experiential kind of things.
[00:47:03] I went on all the rides I wanted to go on, but it wasn't like
[00:47:06] look at these exhibits or these experiences.
[00:47:09] Right.
[00:47:09] Which is a big part of it.
[00:47:09] And in fairness, to us, it's really, really, I would almost
[00:47:14] say impossible for many people to get into that zone of like,
[00:47:20] okay, I have four days in this entire giant thing.
[00:47:25] I'm just going to spend some time on this bench in animal
[00:47:27] kingdom, taking in what old Joe Rogan made for me.
[00:47:31] You know?
[00:47:33] Joe Rody?
[00:47:35] I have Vermeckton.
[00:47:36] Now, David, kind of a reverse question.
[00:47:40] Let's suppose you only have one day, like you're flying
[00:47:43] in, you're going to Miami for work and you have a layover
[00:47:47] in Orlando, you have a 12 hour layover.
[00:47:50] What are you going to do?
[00:47:52] Pleasure beach.
[00:47:53] Pleasure beach.
[00:47:54] Come on.
[00:47:54] Pleasure beach.
[00:47:57] I guess I'm going to pleasure beach.
[00:47:59] No, I'm going to, I'm probably going to go to Hollywood
[00:48:04] studios because I spent very little time there and then
[00:48:08] crush that for half the day and then go to Epcot.
[00:48:10] Okay.
[00:48:12] As aforementioned, you could run there.
[00:48:14] You and I could run there.
[00:48:16] Easy.
[00:48:16] You can walk there or take a friend or you could take
[00:48:19] a boat, a friendship.
[00:48:21] So for point of reference, Jimmy, what would be your one
[00:48:24] to visit and your one to skip?
[00:48:26] And Eric, same question.
[00:48:28] I'm not prepared for these questions.
[00:48:30] I only prepared the questions.
[00:48:31] I'll give you mine while you think.
[00:48:33] Go ahead, please.
[00:48:34] I'm skipping Hollywood studios and I'm going to,
[00:48:40] if it was some time ago, it would be Epcot all the way.
[00:48:43] I think now it's probably Magic Kingdom.
[00:48:49] Mm-hmm.
[00:48:50] I think you're right.
[00:48:51] And here's, here's why I would skip Hollywood studios
[00:48:54] as a Disneylander tower of terror.
[00:48:57] I've got it.
[00:48:58] Rock and roller coaster.
[00:48:59] I've got in credit coaster close enough.
[00:49:01] Mickey minis have got it.
[00:49:02] Star Wars land.
[00:49:03] I've got it.
[00:49:03] Star tours.
[00:49:04] I've got it.
[00:49:06] So really it's just Indiana Jones stunts to spectacular.
[00:49:08] It was the only unique thing there.
[00:49:10] Oh man, it was so good.
[00:49:13] It was pretty fun.
[00:49:14] Was it fun to watch when they say, oh, this is
[00:49:16] Harrison Ford stunt double from 50 years ago.
[00:49:21] It holds up so well.
[00:49:22] It does.
[00:49:23] It is a good show.
[00:49:24] It really does.
[00:49:26] But to your point, I mean, you could also take the arguments.
[00:49:28] Well, I can just skip Magic Kingdom because a lot of that is Disneyland as well.
[00:49:32] I suppose.
[00:49:33] Yeah.
[00:49:33] It's a reasonable argument, but Eric, do you want to answer the question?
[00:49:36] What do you skip?
[00:49:37] What do you do?
[00:49:38] I'm just going to hang out at Epcot all day every day.
[00:49:42] Okay.
[00:49:43] What do you skip?
[00:49:43] Oh, skip.
[00:49:47] Animal Kingdom.
[00:49:48] Why?
[00:49:49] Even though I love animal kingdom and I love the things that you can do there
[00:49:54] that are different than anywhere else, but it's like.
[00:49:57] Is it because you couldn't catch an animal with your bare hands during the VIP tour?
[00:50:00] Probably.
[00:50:01] That's probably it.
[00:50:02] I'm like going up Everest and I'm like, you know what?
[00:50:07] I just really want to grapple an alligator right now.
[00:50:12] That's Gatorland.
[00:50:13] Eric, I have to start Dan.
[00:50:15] But you can grapple an alligator everywhere in Gatorland.
[00:50:20] That's true.
[00:50:20] That's actually one of the experiences you could do.
[00:50:23] It's real.
[00:50:24] David, two final questions.
[00:50:27] First question is what is the one ride, if you could choose one,
[00:50:32] that you wish you would have done but didn't?
[00:50:35] Probably Guardians of the Galaxy cosmic.
[00:50:38] Oh, you didn't do it.
[00:50:42] Wow.
[00:50:43] Worth the price of admission.
[00:50:44] We didn't get there.
[00:50:45] I know.
[00:50:46] So reverse question.
[00:50:48] What is the one ride you did but would never do it again?
[00:50:51] Small world.
[00:50:53] Oh no.
[00:50:54] And why?
[00:50:55] Your daughter was disturbed.
[00:50:58] It's just inferior.
[00:51:01] The dolls are creepier.
[00:51:04] It's this weird like completely indoor experience.
[00:51:09] I do like the fact that the water extends all the way out
[00:51:12] to the various children diorama displays.
[00:51:16] Oh, sure.
[00:51:17] Yeah.
[00:51:18] As opposed to the water being contained in the channel.
[00:51:21] Yeah.
[00:51:21] And then you just see the carpet, which seems really weird.
[00:51:26] Well, there was a time, a very brief period of time at Disneyland.
[00:51:30] That's right.
[00:51:30] The water was not.
[00:51:30] It was the same way.
[00:51:35] Did you experience or notice the windows to Vietich Halls?
[00:51:42] And were people putting signs up to have you do stuff?
[00:51:45] Yeah.
[00:51:46] Oh, I think I did see something like that.
[00:51:48] They put up a sign that said, show your supreme.
[00:51:52] David did.
[00:51:53] I did.
[00:51:55] Oh my God.
[00:51:55] Yeah, they're full display.
[00:51:57] Can you even?
[00:51:57] It's, you know, Mardi Gras around the corner.
[00:52:01] These beads are not going to buy themselves.
[00:52:03] I don't know why they have that sign in a family.
[00:52:06] It's true.
[00:52:07] It is weird.
[00:52:09] YMCA, I get.
[00:52:12] Okay.
[00:52:12] So before we get to rapid fire,
[00:52:14] Dad, what's this sign?
[00:52:16] What does this one mean?
[00:52:17] I don't know.
[00:52:17] Hold it up.
[00:52:20] Where do my babies feed?
[00:52:24] Before we get to rapid fire, which is better, Dan and Eric,
[00:52:27] do you have any questions that I did not cover that you'd like to cover
[00:52:30] for David in his first experience to Walt Disney World, starting with Dan?
[00:52:34] I don't know if this is one of your questions or not, but what I know you've
[00:52:37] listened to, I think probably every episode.
[00:52:40] I think you're the only person on the planet that's listened to every episode of ours
[00:52:43] or not.
[00:52:43] And it's fine if not.
[00:52:45] What did we get wrong and what did we get the most right?
[00:52:48] Oh man, I didn't even think about that.
[00:52:51] It could be a general thing.
[00:52:54] Walt Disney World Pirates one, right?
[00:52:57] No, no.
[00:52:59] Okay.
[00:52:59] Just not part of it.
[00:53:00] Oh, oh, Haunted Mansion.
[00:53:03] Walt Disney World Haunted Mansion one.
[00:53:05] Is that right?
[00:53:06] We don't talk about that on this show.
[00:53:07] That's correct.
[00:53:08] Nobody knows.
[00:53:09] Yeah, I'd say that one.
[00:53:10] But that is going to be one of the appellate things now that the cues are changing and
[00:53:14] yeah, I'd say that the one thing I did notice,
[00:53:22] the emphasis that you all put on the cues and kind of the pre-write experience
[00:53:27] is a big deal.
[00:53:28] They do it pretty well at Walt Disney World.
[00:53:30] And so as I go back and I'll probably listen to some of the episodes,
[00:53:34] it just gives a frame of reference down with like, okay, now I understand why they made
[00:53:37] such a big deal about like, because the cues at Disneyland are especially if you're like
[00:53:42] Fantasyland or other, there's just a bunch of switchbacks.
[00:53:44] There's not that much there.
[00:53:45] Maybe there's like a Hidden Mickey or something.
[00:53:48] Note to listener, if you go to Disney World for the first time,
[00:53:52] you'll finally enjoy our show.
[00:53:55] Well, and also if you want to create Hidden Mickey's in the cues and fantasy,
[00:53:59] you just get three quarters and put them together.
[00:54:02] No, one quarter into Nichols, Dan.
[00:54:04] They have to be.
[00:54:05] That's true.
[00:54:05] That's true.
[00:54:06] Rub them.
[00:54:08] Keep rubbing.
[00:54:11] Do you want to finish the question or are we good with that?
[00:54:13] I think that's the question.
[00:54:14] Yeah.
[00:54:14] Okay.
[00:54:16] David, Eric, when it comes down to connecting your passes
[00:54:22] with the other passes of your party.
[00:54:25] Oh, I forgot about this.
[00:54:27] Which coast makes sense and which coast
[00:54:33] is absolute freaking nonsense.
[00:54:36] Yes, indeed.
[00:54:36] It's a great question.
[00:54:37] We have not covered that yet, have we?
[00:54:39] I was going to need to have a whole episode.
[00:54:40] The app experience by Disney experience versus
[00:54:43] They haven't fixed this?
[00:54:45] No.
[00:54:48] It did occur to me.
[00:54:49] It's funny in the lead up for the show,
[00:54:51] I was going to recommend like you have to do the apps.
[00:54:55] Yeah, I do like the one thing I do like about the Disney World labs.
[00:54:58] I do like the fact that they display like the
[00:55:03] the thing was something about like the ride weights.
[00:55:05] They displayed in a way that was different than Disney, which I liked.
[00:55:08] You can choose the time that you go right?
[00:55:11] Disney World for lightning lanes.
[00:55:13] You can choose the time.
[00:55:15] Isn't that like something that they do there?
[00:55:18] No, I think so.
[00:55:19] I think if you log in at 7am.
[00:55:21] Yeah.
[00:55:23] Okay.
[00:55:24] Okay.
[00:55:24] Okay.
[00:55:24] Got it.
[00:55:25] But once the park opens, you're just kind of whatever they give you.
[00:55:28] Well, yeah, it's like Disneyland.
[00:55:31] But for context, for the question for the listener who does not know,
[00:55:34] you go to Disneyland and the four of us are going to go together.
[00:55:38] Dan bought his ticket on his app.
[00:55:39] Eric has his.
[00:55:40] David has his.
[00:55:41] I have mine.
[00:55:42] If you're to go to Disney World, there is maybe no chance in hell for you to link the four.
[00:55:48] It's very difficult.
[00:55:49] You have to each one of you has to go on to your thing.
[00:55:53] And like you have to request that you're managed by someone else.
[00:55:57] David couldn't manage me.
[00:55:58] I couldn't manage Eric.
[00:56:00] Like only one person can manage all people.
[00:56:03] You can't manage each other.
[00:56:04] Now, here's the interesting thing is that you can do all of that stuff beforehand with
[00:56:09] Walt Disney World.
[00:56:11] But at Disneyland, you have to stand around in a circle and go, let's scan each other's.
[00:56:16] The barcode.
[00:56:17] Yeah.
[00:56:17] Barcodes.
[00:56:18] Yeah.
[00:56:19] Like what's better is it?
[00:56:21] Can you plan ahead at Walt Disney World versus Disneyland where you're a bunch of
[00:56:28] assholes standing around like scanning each other's phones.
[00:56:31] You only have to do it once.
[00:56:31] So wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
[00:56:34] I have an experience.
[00:56:36] Wait, wait, wait.
[00:56:37] I have an experience.
[00:56:38] This is a whole show.
[00:56:39] And I have an experience with 12 people with me at Disney World.
[00:56:43] We all bought tickets on 12 separate apps and it was impossible for us to all.
[00:56:48] We had to stand together.
[00:56:50] One, two, three, go get your lightning lane.
[00:56:52] And none of them were the same.
[00:56:53] You know what?
[00:56:53] Disney World does not tolerate singles.
[00:56:57] They don't want single men.
[00:56:59] It's what it is.
[00:57:00] Going to their parks.
[00:57:02] Yeah, that was fair.
[00:57:03] That is one of the single rider things just not real, which is weird to me.
[00:57:08] But I will say that the accessing the parks, that's one of the things I forgot
[00:57:13] to mention, was very easy.
[00:57:15] Like security lines were very short.
[00:57:17] Oh gosh.
[00:57:19] No, you don't have to put your bag up.
[00:57:21] You just walk through a metal detector.
[00:57:23] It checks your temperature.
[00:57:25] It checks your metal.
[00:57:26] You just walk straight through.
[00:57:27] It detects your Dan level.
[00:57:30] How much Dan are you?
[00:57:32] All right, you're good.
[00:57:33] Keep walking.
[00:57:34] Keep walking.
[00:57:36] He slowed down.
[00:57:37] He's a Dan.
[00:57:39] I got pulled over at Frisk because my Dan factor was too high.
[00:57:42] So yeah, now you know what it's like.
[00:57:48] That part was good.
[00:57:49] That part was I don't know why they don't do that at Disney.
[00:57:53] It's surprising because the technology exists.
[00:57:55] I've been to other places in recent past where it was that same sort of metal detector just
[00:58:01] walk through.
[00:58:02] You know why it doesn't exist at Disneyland?
[00:58:06] This is a real answer.
[00:58:07] It's because they've been waiting for Disneyland forward and why do that construction?
[00:58:13] Why bring in those things when you're just going to rebuild them somewhere else?
[00:58:17] I guess.
[00:58:19] Or move them.
[00:58:20] Yes, rapid fire.
[00:58:21] Okay, David, here we go.
[00:58:23] How about security when you leave?
[00:58:25] Yeah.
[00:58:25] Yes.
[00:58:26] How many souvenirs did you take with you?
[00:58:29] How many did you shove into your bag?
[00:58:32] What is your bank account as you leave?
[00:58:34] Do you have Buzzy?
[00:58:36] Did you take...
[00:58:37] How do you set the 3D glasses did you take with you, right?
[00:58:41] Okay, so David, we're going to do some rapid fire now for our listener.
[00:58:45] I'm going to read off a ride that you did and it's counterpart at Disneyland
[00:58:52] and I'm going to have you tell me which is better and briefly why.
[00:58:57] Okay.
[00:58:57] Ready?
[00:58:58] All right, here we go.
[00:59:00] Hold on before you get there, is the castle on there?
[00:59:03] Yes.
[00:59:04] Okay, good.
[00:59:05] Okay.
[00:59:07] Expedition Everest or Matterhorn?
[00:59:10] I will say Expedition Everest.
[00:59:14] Well, I will tell a funny story.
[00:59:17] So we are riding on the ride.
[00:59:20] My two kids are in front of me.
[00:59:22] I'm sitting next to Eric and Mike is in the car behind us.
[00:59:27] And we're going up, up, up, up, up.
[00:59:29] And it looks...
[00:59:30] And I look and I'm like, are we going to do a looped loop?
[00:59:34] And Eric's like, no, we're going backwards.
[00:59:36] And at that point in time, it slams, fly backwards.
[00:59:39] And I am just like, what is going on here?
[00:59:44] I think it's a...
[00:59:45] I thought it was going to be like the Matterhorn and I was completely wrong.
[00:59:48] But it's definitely a little more thrilling.
[00:59:51] Clearly he does not listen to every episode.
[00:59:53] Don't.
[00:59:55] I don't like...
[00:59:57] There's nothing I like about getting on the Matterhorn.
[00:59:59] Even the single ride line is not a great experience.
[01:00:02] They don't like to queue.
[01:00:04] I do like to use the...
[01:00:05] No web slingers, that's for sure.
[01:00:06] No web slingers as we've been certain.
[01:00:08] There's no air conditioning.
[01:00:12] It'll be one of the few victories for Walt Disney World.
[01:00:15] But we'll see.
[01:00:16] I see.
[01:00:17] Okay, Cali River Rapids versus Grizzly River Runs.
[01:00:20] Not even close.
[01:00:21] That's just an insulting question.
[01:00:22] How many children fired water into your face?
[01:00:26] None.
[01:00:27] I was surprised.
[01:00:29] There's only one fall.
[01:00:32] It was like not quick to get on.
[01:00:36] There's no single ride line for some reason because they hate single people in Florida.
[01:00:40] Don't say single as the expression goes.
[01:00:43] And while I like the idea of people splashing the water,
[01:00:47] I can also see why that'd be irksome to people.
[01:00:51] So I'd say...
[01:00:51] How much shame did you feel about forestation?
[01:00:56] Deforestation.
[01:00:57] I just had that little single tier.
[01:01:02] Did you plant a tree when you got home?
[01:01:05] Oh yeah, I did.
[01:01:07] Okay, dinosaur or Indiana Jones?
[01:01:12] I prefer Indiana Jones.
[01:01:14] Because I will say I look pretty...
[01:01:16] I just like the theming more.
[01:01:18] How much mustard is Indiana Jones?
[01:01:20] I mean how many ketchup, mustard and mayo lines?
[01:01:25] I did like the fact that they had...
[01:01:27] One of my favorite pictures from the event was the
[01:01:30] dinosaur snap picture they do at the very end or during the ride.
[01:01:32] That was a lot of fun.
[01:01:33] My daughter actually likes dinosaur more than Indiana Jones.
[01:01:37] I've actually come around to...
[01:01:40] In hearing people's discussions about this,
[01:01:43] because I watch all the YouTubes and everything.
[01:01:46] I can actually come around to the idea that
[01:01:49] a person could potentially like dinosaur better.
[01:01:52] I'm not that person.
[01:01:54] I like Indiana Jones far better.
[01:01:56] I like seeing things and I like the theme and all that.
[01:01:59] I was going to say you can actually see what's going on.
[01:02:00] Yeah, it's pretty dark.
[01:02:02] But I can understand if someone is in it just for jump scares,
[01:02:07] then sure, dinosaur makes sense.
[01:02:10] David's kids seemed into it.
[01:02:13] Yeah, my daughter.
[01:02:14] Based on photos.
[01:02:15] Yeah, they liked it.
[01:02:16] They liked it.
[01:02:17] It was just again...
[01:02:19] I'm glad you made the point about it is really dark and hard to see.
[01:02:23] Dark and loud.
[01:02:25] Okay, moving on to Epcot.
[01:02:26] That's what she said.
[01:02:29] Hey-oh.
[01:02:30] Okay, moving on to Epcot.
[01:02:33] Grand Fiesta Tour or Monsters Inc.
[01:02:36] Mike and Sully to the rescue.
[01:02:38] Oh, you did Grand Fiesta Tour.
[01:02:41] I did and I didn't love it.
[01:02:44] I would say I would love Monsters Inc better.
[01:02:46] What?
[01:02:47] I do like the boat ride within the restaurant plaza area was kind of different.
[01:02:55] But don't love the theming of the ride.
[01:02:58] It could be a pretty cool ride.
[01:03:00] Just the three loud ducks is just...
[01:03:02] At one point, it was a pretty cool ride.
[01:03:04] Was it?
[01:03:05] I agree.
[01:03:05] Yeah, used to be.
[01:03:06] Okay, soaring around the world or soaring over California.
[01:03:12] But I guess in general, living with the land pavilion version versus the
[01:03:20] whatever flats version, Cundor flats.
[01:03:23] Okay, it sounds like there were two questions.
[01:03:25] One was do I prefer...
[01:03:29] No, go ahead and answer that question.
[01:03:31] Everyone prefers soaring over California.
[01:03:33] I think you're right.
[01:03:33] Yes, correct.
[01:03:34] Okay, so let's say they're both soaring around the world, which they are currently,
[01:03:39] I think.
[01:03:40] Which one is better?
[01:03:41] The one at Epcot, the one at DCA?
[01:03:43] Probably Epcot, I think because it loads quicker.
[01:03:46] Oh, damn.
[01:03:48] The queue at Walt Disney at Disneyland.
[01:03:52] The queue at Disneyland is just...
[01:03:53] It's underwhelming.
[01:03:54] It could be a lot better.
[01:03:54] So boring.
[01:03:55] Yeah, she does want faster loaders.
[01:03:58] Okay.
[01:03:59] So yeah, Epcot also there's like in the queue, there's interactive game with questions and stuff.
[01:04:06] She loves trivia.
[01:04:08] Yeah.
[01:04:08] Okay, moving on to Hollywood Studios.
[01:04:11] Star Tours, which is better?
[01:04:14] They seem pretty similar.
[01:04:16] I'd say the major difference is that they're just more ride vehicles at Disney World,
[01:04:22] which I think is like a shorter wait.
[01:04:24] Also the queue is better at Disney World.
[01:04:27] How many giant vehicles were outside?
[01:04:30] Seven?
[01:04:30] I don't know.
[01:04:32] The...
[01:04:33] So I would probably the...
[01:04:35] I'd have to see it again.
[01:04:36] I don't have like a real strong impression of either one.
[01:04:39] Yeah, the rides are roughly the same.
[01:04:42] Your daughter, like when we got to the top of the lift,
[01:04:46] or the top of the ramp where she went,
[01:04:48] how many rides are there here?
[01:04:52] There's so many rooms.
[01:04:53] Yeah, exactly.
[01:04:54] So for that reason, I'll probably...
[01:04:55] I'll give this to Disney World.
[01:04:56] Okay.
[01:04:56] Did you find it odd that you were riding Star Tours
[01:05:00] like three feet away from Galaxy's Edge?
[01:05:03] It was real dumb.
[01:05:05] No, it was real great.
[01:05:07] Change the word dumb to awesome.
[01:05:10] Every ride should end in Batuu and you should walk through a tunnel
[01:05:13] or at least have an option.
[01:05:16] Okay.
[01:05:17] Moving on to the Magic Kingdom for the win.
[01:05:21] David, which castle is better?
[01:05:24] Disneyland.
[01:05:25] And why?
[01:05:27] The Disney World is too much.
[01:05:28] It's like a hat on a hat.
[01:05:29] It's too much.
[01:05:30] I heard that.
[01:05:31] I saw there's a video, people.
[01:05:33] Eric, where can they find the video of David's reaction to the castle?
[01:05:36] That's been redacted.
[01:05:40] You can find it on my phone.
[01:05:41] So if you send me a text, I will start with you.
[01:05:43] But 856ourears for David's video reaction.
[01:05:46] You could post that on the group, right?
[01:05:49] Yeah, I could do that.
[01:05:50] Oh, the Supreme Resort group.
[01:05:51] Go to facebook.com forward slash supremeresortdavidlpost.
[01:05:53] Go to facebook.fake.
[01:05:56] Also, if anyone wants to create a subreddit for us, that's probably a better place for us.
[01:06:00] Not because we're not because we're redditors by any stretch of the imagination,
[01:06:05] but because Facebook is a mess.
[01:06:10] And so are the opinions of the people on this show other than me.
[01:06:16] So David, I guess for the whole panel here, should he not post the video to our Supreme Resort group?
[01:06:23] I think he should.
[01:06:24] Big Thunder Mountain, which is better?
[01:06:26] I like the queue at Disney World more.
[01:06:29] I think I like the ride at Disneyland more.
[01:06:33] It's got the explosion scene, which it doesn't have.
[01:06:37] So I'll give it to Disneyland.
[01:06:40] You're correct.
[01:06:41] Tomorrowland Speedway.
[01:06:43] Did you write it or did Brian write it?
[01:06:45] Brian wrote it, but he said he gave his opinion.
[01:06:48] He said, if you're going to write it, you should write it.
[01:06:51] He said he gave his opinion.
[01:06:53] He said the cars are slower.
[01:06:56] It's very hot.
[01:06:58] Do it if it's a short ride, but he thought Disneyland was better.
[01:07:03] I think the cars go the same speed, but they feel slower because the ride is more boring.
[01:07:08] It's big and hot.
[01:07:11] Next question.
[01:07:12] Pirates of the Caribbean, I think we covered.
[01:07:14] Buzz Lightyear's Space Rangers spin or Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters?
[01:07:19] I like Astro Blasters.
[01:07:21] Well, okay.
[01:07:22] So a couple things.
[01:07:23] Well, actually, I like Astro Blasters.
[01:07:24] The reason is you only have one shape in Walt Disney World.
[01:07:29] And it's also fixed to the buggy.
[01:07:33] Do you like moving your hands?
[01:07:37] It's like a baby's toy.
[01:07:38] I'm trying to get some strength working by holding the gun, actually.
[01:07:44] The photo that you get is 1,000% better, though.
[01:07:47] The one at Disneyland is just like 2D.
[01:07:53] It looks terrible.
[01:07:54] Score one for on-ride photos, I guess.
[01:07:57] Score one for on-ride photos, for sure.
[01:07:59] Yeah, no.
[01:07:59] That's another episode we should do.
[01:08:01] I've already written it down.
[01:08:03] That, remember, we said it a few minutes ago.
[01:08:05] That's the next March Madness is on-ride photos.
[01:08:08] And then Dan said you have to send in your on-ride photos.
[01:08:11] And then David said you got to get one of the presidents from the Hall of Presidents.
[01:08:16] You listen back.
[01:08:17] Honda Mansion and David.
[01:08:20] It's Disneyland.
[01:08:26] I don't like the building.
[01:08:28] Dan just strangled himself with his own entrance.
[01:08:32] The outside queue is great.
[01:08:35] We got the little quiz with the five headstones that Eric turned out,
[01:08:39] which I still haven't solved yet.
[01:08:40] But I will.
[01:08:44] Now, whether you like it or not,
[01:08:47] once you get off of the stretching room and you have at Disneyland,
[01:08:50] you have the hallway that you walk down and you get to see the displays.
[01:08:53] Once you get off at Walt Disney World, you're just on.
[01:08:59] And the portraits are in the ride as opposed to in the queue.
[01:09:02] The portraits are in the ride.
[01:09:04] The moving bus are in the ride.
[01:09:06] Yep.
[01:09:07] But photos are great.
[01:09:10] Except for on-board photos.
[01:09:12] Here's something I've never really been able to
[01:09:14] quantify with people.
[01:09:17] The extra scenes at the Disney World on a Mansion,
[01:09:21] do they to you not feel more janky than the rest of the?
[01:09:29] The Ghost Riders room, there's nothing.
[01:09:32] There's no jank.
[01:09:34] And then you move into another room where the eyes blend into the wallpaper.
[01:09:41] Yeah.
[01:09:42] Some of the jankless, some of the effects are great, but it just feels like.
[01:09:50] 80% of the quality of the rest of the ride.
[01:09:54] It's like here's parts that are added on.
[01:09:57] They're a little bit more like it's just like a hair more of a carny.
[01:10:02] How many profanity?
[01:10:04] I don't know.
[01:10:04] You're the one editing it.
[01:10:05] You're editing.
[01:10:10] Not it.
[01:10:11] Okay, moving on Space Mountain.
[01:10:14] Hold on.
[01:10:14] Wait, I'm sorry.
[01:10:15] Do you know?
[01:10:16] Okay.
[01:10:17] Wait, do you are you to know?
[01:10:19] No, here's the thing.
[01:10:21] It's not that people don't immediately go like,
[01:10:24] yeah, I yeah, no, like I completely agree.
[01:10:28] You're absolutely right.
[01:10:29] But the response every time I bring this up to anybody is like,
[01:10:33] we have no idea what you're talking about.
[01:10:35] We don't see any reduction in quality.
[01:10:37] And so that I have to say, like, do you not have standards?
[01:10:41] Both rides were developed at the exact same time in the same place.
[01:10:46] I'm just saying that, okay, you know,
[01:10:51] No, I'm gonna hear what you're saying that the part of the ride is jankier.
[01:10:56] At which part?
[01:10:57] The part of the ride that isn't at Disneyland that is extra seems very much to me like,
[01:11:06] it seems very much to me, like the quality compared to the rest of the ride at Florida
[01:11:17] is slightly less.
[01:11:20] The quality of the effects like the piano player does.
[01:11:25] I know it's a visual, but it's this instead of fluid motion.
[01:11:29] Are you saying Floridians don't know that how to play a piano?
[01:11:34] I'm just saying that I see things and I'm able to recognize when the quality of a thing
[01:11:39] is not as good.
[01:11:41] That's it.
[01:11:43] I think Disneyland is better.
[01:11:44] Okay, great.
[01:11:45] So David space out which is better.
[01:11:48] This is why I can't be involved in the applet version of Haunted Mansion.
[01:11:54] I liked this might be correct.
[01:11:56] I actually think I like the Walt Disney World version.
[01:11:58] And why?
[01:12:00] The ride is I think more thrilling.
[01:12:04] You're definitely like jostled around quite a bit more versus the track at Disneyland,
[01:12:09] especially if you've written a few times it's like left, left, right, right, left.
[01:12:14] It's this kind of more predictable pattern if you will.
[01:12:17] It could also just be like the first time I've written it.
[01:12:19] I was going to say, is that because of repetition?
[01:12:21] It could also be because of repetition.
[01:12:22] And so did you like the other cars on the track seeing them?
[01:12:28] He held out a pole and he knocked somebody out of a car.
[01:12:32] I did.
[01:12:33] Well, it was a selfie stick and I just wanted a photo.
[01:12:35] I didn't know that there'd be a photo on it.
[01:12:36] But did you enjoy the contemplation time at the end?
[01:12:42] I did like the part where like, okay, this is over.
[01:12:44] And then, oh no, it's not over.
[01:12:46] It's still going on.
[01:12:50] Peter Pan's flight.
[01:12:51] I would say probably Walt Disney World mostly because we got on it pretty quick.
[01:12:59] So it's a better cue.
[01:13:01] Take that, Daniel.
[01:13:03] We caught it pretty quickly.
[01:13:07] The ride I thought was relatively the same.
[01:13:10] Maybe I'm wrong there.
[01:13:12] I think also part of it too is I resent the fact that for whatever reason that
[01:13:16] Disneyland is just such a sought after ride
[01:13:19] that it's always unless you get the rope drop, it's always like 45 minutes.
[01:13:22] Dan considers you wrong and I don't care.
[01:13:26] And I might be wrong.
[01:13:26] I've only ridden it one time at Walt Disney World.
[01:13:28] I could have been loopy by that point in time.
[01:13:30] Did you enjoy the part where you went through the Darling residence
[01:13:34] and then came out and you were in a queue in Fantasyland?
[01:13:39] The Sally family and I basically walked through the line looking at our phones
[01:13:44] because we were bored as F.
[01:13:48] Yep.
[01:13:49] So F stands for?
[01:13:51] Fantasy.
[01:13:52] Fallacy.
[01:13:53] So David, we'd already talked about Small World.
[01:13:57] You thought that the Disneyland one was better
[01:13:59] and we kind of went through that a little bit already.
[01:14:00] Yep.
[01:14:02] All right.
[01:14:02] Moving on to the Mad Tea Party.
[01:14:07] I would say that the teacups at Disneyland are superior.
[01:14:12] Because it's not covered.
[01:14:13] I like the lights.
[01:14:14] It's a different experience daytime and nighttime.
[01:14:18] And I will say that the cups spun pretty quickly.
[01:14:21] I don't know if they're faster.
[01:14:24] My son got pretty nauseous by the end, which was kind of the stated goal.
[01:14:27] He threw it everywhere.
[01:14:28] He just threw it because it was like he's like,
[01:14:30] hey dad, I want to be like you when your first time you're on an airplane.
[01:14:33] Yeah, exactly.
[01:14:34] Except that we didn't have a bag.
[01:14:35] So he just like threw up in the teacup and they just said, you know, shut down.
[01:14:38] I have a follow-up question for It's a Small World.
[01:14:40] You said that Small World overall was a much creepier experience.
[01:14:45] Did that make the Heaven Room more like clear that they were all dead?
[01:14:52] The Heaven Room was better in my opinion, based on our discussions.
[01:14:58] If you're a new listener, just to describe, we've determined on this show
[01:15:02] that the last scene in It's a Small World, in which you see many of the
[01:15:08] dolls that you've seen before is actually Heaven because they're all wearing white
[01:15:12] and they're all dead.
[01:15:13] I hadn't thought about that.
[01:15:15] I just felt like some of the dolls, some of it was like just creepier.
[01:15:20] I didn't like the indoor piece at all.
[01:15:22] That just seemed weird.
[01:15:26] Now, I will say this.
[01:15:27] If you tell me that Walt Disney World is two-thirds the length,
[01:15:31] I think it's shorter and that's one big bonus for Walt Disney World.
[01:15:36] Oh, bonus.
[01:15:37] Well, that ride is super long.
[01:15:39] It doesn't need to be that long.
[01:15:40] That's something I need to hold on to for our actual show that we do on this eventually.
[01:15:47] Did you ride the train at all?
[01:15:49] We did not.
[01:15:51] No, we did not.
[01:15:51] That's good.
[01:15:52] We did not ride it.
[01:15:53] We rode from a public transportation perspective.
[01:15:57] We took the ferry boat in.
[01:16:02] We did lift.
[01:16:05] Up Main Street.
[01:16:06] That's a new feature.
[01:16:07] We took the bus back from Magic Kingdom on day four.
[01:16:16] I think that was it.
[01:16:17] I think that was it.
[01:16:20] In the parks, yeah.
[01:16:23] We did the Skyliner.
[01:16:25] That was fun.
[01:16:26] I forgot about that one.
[01:16:27] That's one.
[01:16:27] Yeah, that was cool.
[01:16:28] I enjoyed that.
[01:16:29] That was fun.
[01:16:31] That's good.
[01:16:32] I am super happy, but still.
[01:16:36] I have another lightning round pick for you.
[01:16:40] People Mover versus a weird collection of shade that just lingers throughout Tomorrowland
[01:16:48] and gathers leaves.
[01:16:52] Now, you know I'm an avid leaf collector.
[01:16:56] So I see that bonanza.
[01:16:57] Well, you're an editor of...
[01:16:59] I know you're one of the editors of Leaf Fancy, which is a magazine that is very popular.
[01:17:05] And I appreciate it.
[01:17:06] I appreciate it.
[01:17:07] And Fancy Legal.
[01:17:08] Final, final.
[01:17:10] Listener, the reason I'm asking about the particular attractions,
[01:17:13] I have a list of everything David went on.
[01:17:15] So if you're saying how come he didn't ask about Twilight Zone Tower of Terror,
[01:17:18] etc., he didn't go on it.
[01:17:20] So the last one he went on, Jungle Cruise.
[01:17:24] David, which is better?
[01:17:29] So as I recall, the difference is that part of my perspective was when we tried to get
[01:17:36] on the ride, it was late at night and couldn't find how to get to the ride.
[01:17:39] So that was a little...
[01:17:40] That was kind of on me.
[01:17:41] That was after losing my kids.
[01:17:42] Yeah, weird.
[01:17:43] You couldn't find that giant tower.
[01:17:45] I couldn't.
[01:17:46] No, it was dark.
[01:17:47] I couldn't see it.
[01:17:47] Anyway, I'm blind as a bat anyway.
[01:17:50] I still like the original Jungle Cruise at Disneyland, I think more.
[01:17:54] Now, the one thing you have that extended room where they've got
[01:17:58] extra displays, people are shaking their heads.
[01:18:01] The tiger and the...
[01:18:04] Nodding by the way.
[01:18:05] We were nodding and shaking our heads.
[01:18:06] Okay.
[01:18:08] The ride person wasn't saying anything at all during that time.
[01:18:12] I don't know if they're prohibited from saying it.
[01:18:15] All right.
[01:18:16] Never mind.
[01:18:16] I thought it was some sort of zone ordinance.
[01:18:21] Yeah, I'm tired of shooting guns and telling jokes.
[01:18:24] Yeah, no.
[01:18:25] It makes no sense.
[01:18:26] Okay.
[01:18:27] Well, there you go.
[01:18:28] So that is David's first trip to Walt Disney World or Walt David's World.
[01:18:36] We're very happy that you came on to share your experiences.
[01:18:39] Dan and Eric, do you have any other questions for David,
[01:18:41] R.E., his trip to Disney World?
[01:18:43] Why are you glossing over David's experience on the Jungle Cruise?
[01:18:49] Is there something that you're hiding?
[01:18:53] Like I said, I prefer the original Disneyland one.
[01:18:57] I...
[01:18:58] If they were to bring back live animals,
[01:19:01] Walt Disney World I think would be the supreme ride.
[01:19:03] Bring back live animal?
[01:19:05] Well, I'm sorry.
[01:19:06] Disneyland I think was anticipated to have...
[01:19:08] At one point in time either had or was planned to have live animals.
[01:19:10] I think that was like a brief idea in the 50s.
[01:19:13] Yeah.
[01:19:14] They turned it into Kilimanjaro Safari.
[01:19:16] Right.
[01:19:16] And at Disney World too many people on the VIP tour
[01:19:19] were able to catch the animals with their bare hands.
[01:19:21] So that's the theme of this episode.
[01:19:23] Yep.
[01:19:24] That's the joke.
[01:19:25] I've decided to keep calling back to...
[01:19:27] All right.
[01:19:29] I have only one last question for David.
[01:19:33] David, if you were to go back to Walt Disney World,
[01:19:37] is there a specific travel planning service that you would use?
[01:19:41] Oh, I would use Concierge without question.
[01:19:45] Why?
[01:19:46] Well, because you guys never talked to me again if I said something.
[01:19:52] If I said Magic Touring or some other made up...
[01:19:54] I don't know any other ones.
[01:19:55] That's the other one.
[01:19:56] No, but I've used Concierge so great.
[01:19:58] So, eight, seven, six hours a year.
[01:20:00] Is that right?
[01:20:01] Eight, five, six hours a year.
[01:20:02] Damn!
[01:20:02] I've never gotten it right.
[01:20:04] Concierge.com.
[01:20:04] Hey, the Concierge folks are going to be all together as one in June.
[01:20:09] So this episode will come out before we're there.
[01:20:11] We're there June 9th through the 12th.
[01:20:15] So if you happen to be in Southern California
[01:20:17] at the Disneyland area and would like to meet up,
[01:20:20] come on down.
[01:20:21] We'll be there.
[01:20:21] Dan, Eric, and I will all be there.
[01:20:23] We'll all be at Medieval Times.
[01:20:26] It will be at Medieval Times on the 12th or the 13th.
[01:20:29] 12th, we'll be on the 12th.
[01:20:30] So if you want to go to Medieval Times and meet us there,
[01:20:32] we'll be there.
[01:20:32] Dan and I will be at Knott's on the 12th.
[01:20:34] Eric and Dan will be at the Knott's on the 13th.
[01:20:37] Eric will be on a VIP tour for the special Concierge.
[01:20:41] If you'd like to flip me off while I'm on my Plaid Tour, please.
[01:20:47] I will.
[01:20:50] Go through Concierge.
[01:20:51] Jimmy and I are on a plus-fed day though.
[01:20:52] We're going to Knott's.
[01:20:53] We're going to flip you off from Buena Park.
[01:20:57] OK, so yes, thank you.
[01:20:59] Thank you, David, for being here.
[01:21:01] Thank you, listener, for listening.
[01:21:03] Yeah, again, this is not an advertisement intentionally,
[01:21:05] but well done, Dan.
[01:21:06] If you would like to try your first trip to Disney World,
[01:21:09] call Concierge.
[01:21:11] A group of very, very professional experts.
[01:21:15] It is big as David had pointed out.
[01:21:19] There's a lot.
[01:21:19] It's a lot to take in.
[01:21:20] He had Eric, fortunately, to kind of guide him through it
[01:21:22] because he'd been there so many times.
[01:21:24] If you've never been and you don't have Eric to join you,
[01:21:27] call Concierge.
[01:21:28] We will help you get to a full touring plan
[01:21:30] and walk you through the entire resort,
[01:21:32] what to do, what not to do, that kind of thing.
[01:21:36] And perhaps our next episode will be recorded
[01:21:38] during a Concierge meeting.
[01:21:41] As a matter of fact, one of the next episodes
[01:21:44] you may hear will be from us.
[01:21:45] I have so many microphones.
[01:21:48] He has so many microphones.
[01:21:50] Also, if you like what you hear,
[01:21:52] then please rate and review our show.
[01:21:54] We have quite a few reviews nowadays
[01:21:57] and we have a couple of new ones I'd like to share.
[01:22:01] This one is from SoCalBandDirector.
[01:22:04] SoCalBandDirector says,
[01:22:06] SeaWorld update.
[01:22:08] Great info, Tom.
[01:22:10] I have been concerned about the Bayliner for years.
[01:22:14] However, I do disagree about ownership.
[01:22:17] Hardcore brace, Joe Bonavich was very educational.
[01:22:22] I just want to provide a correction to that.
[01:22:24] That was not Tom.
[01:22:25] That was Jeff butthole.
[01:22:28] Great info, Jeff butthole.
[01:22:31] Okay.
[01:22:32] And this one perhaps related.
[01:22:34] This one is from Mark, Mark, Markita.
[01:22:38] I'm going to say Markita or Marikita.
[01:22:41] M-A-R-I-K-K-I-T-A.
[01:22:43] Markita says, love this show.
[01:22:46] This review is two years in the making because I wanted to leave it
[01:22:49] once I caught up with all the episodes.
[01:22:52] Eric, Jimmy and Dan are so funny
[01:22:55] and I absolutely love listening to their banter.
[01:22:57] I love that they do so much research and share lots of new information.
[01:23:02] As an avid Disney parks goer,
[01:23:04] I enjoy that I usually learn at least one new thing each episode.
[01:23:08] I'm not a huge fan of the other theme park episodes
[01:23:11] but I'm happy just to skip them and keep going.
[01:23:15] Sorry, David.
[01:23:19] Thank you, Silkele Band Director and Markita for your reviews.
[01:23:26] Both five stars by the way I should have said.
[01:23:28] Yes, thank you.
[01:23:30] By the way, Markita.
[01:23:33] Markita.
[01:23:34] Markita, you are not alone in that opinion.
[01:23:37] However, we will probably continue to share our podcast with other theme parks.
[01:23:43] That is correct.
[01:23:45] Next episode, Meow Wolf versus Meow Wolf.
[01:23:51] And then of course we have, we already talked about Concierge.
[01:23:53] We have other shows on the network, Ears Up, which is not devolving in any way.
[01:24:00] We have David's show, Puny Pod, which is about Ant-Man only.
[01:24:07] And occasionally they'll talk about other MCU podcasts.
[01:24:10] How is Puny Pod going, David?
[01:24:12] Pretty well actually.
[01:24:13] I think we're starting to hit our stride.
[01:24:15] I've listened to some of the early episodes and this is not easy what you all do.
[01:24:21] Well, some of our earlys are not great.
[01:24:24] No, we just finished with Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
[01:24:27] We are watching Spider-Man Homecoming.
[01:24:30] So I'm doing my regular level of over preparation for that.
[01:24:35] And then we're going to get together tomorrow or Monday and record.
[01:24:40] He just came back from the parks.
[01:24:42] He went on a Disney cruise and so we're going to share some stories.
[01:24:46] Ryan was there for quite a while.
[01:24:48] Yeah.
[01:24:49] He'll be our next guest.
[01:24:52] Okay, so in the meantime, oh also wait, sorry, the Scraping the Vault.
[01:24:56] The Scraping the Vault people are back.
[01:24:59] The Vaultineers are back.
[01:25:02] I think we'll slowly uncover what's been going on with us.
[01:25:06] Yeah.
[01:25:07] Anyway, we're back.
[01:25:09] The Vaultineers are back and we just finished and are about to release Fox and the Hound 2.
[01:25:19] And Eric, by the way, I have to say I listened to the last episode.
[01:25:22] It was part two of the Run Disney.
[01:25:25] The way you phrased Scraping the Vault in everything has been leading up to
[01:25:30] Cinderella 3 Twisted Time was just fantastic.
[01:25:34] I can't wait until this damn movie.
[01:25:38] I know.
[01:25:40] I probably saw it 25 years ago in Dan's bedroom drinking neti ice or something.
[01:25:47] I just remember loving it.
[01:25:48] Probably Milwaukee's past.
[01:25:49] I think that's what I was into at the time.
[01:25:52] Well, and also I think it was 2007.
[01:25:55] Also speaking of roping them in little fillies, if you want to listen to Eric
[01:25:58] and I spread some madness about David Bowie.
[01:26:01] Bowie's Planning is the podcast.
[01:26:03] And the Star Wars show, the Bantha Milk show.
[01:26:08] They're getting excited about Acolyte and they're the only ones.
[01:26:15] All right.
[01:26:15] So rate and review, et cetera, et cetera, other shows, et cetera, et cetera.
[01:26:19] 856R ears.
[01:26:20] And until next time.
[01:26:22] Well, Ryan Airy's dog is excited about it, right?
[01:26:26] Ryan Airy, he's great.
[01:26:27] I just don't.
[01:26:27] Ryan Airy's dog is so cute.
[01:26:29] What's going to happen when anyway?
[01:26:30] The next time we could do each other and court is adjourned.
[01:26:36] You're the safe reader.
[01:27:05] I mean, everybody dies, Dan.
[01:27:07] Death and taxes.
[01:27:08] I'm just saying.
[01:27:11] So few people believe me when I tell them that you're actually the darker one.
[01:27:16] Oh, no.
[01:27:18] I have been in the sun.
[01:27:20] Yeah.
[01:27:21] If you would like to subscribe to Leaf Fancy or Fancy Leaf or Fancy Leaf, either way, the
[01:27:33] Fancy Leaf is the Spanish publication.
[01:27:37] If you want seeds for leaves through Amazon, use the coupon code
[01:27:45] Leaf F.
[01:27:47] Fee LF fee, which is LF E E E E E E E E C Y.
[01:27:59] Dot go dot com.
[01:28:02] And you will get one and a half percent off of your seed order through Amazon.
[01:28:11] That's what she said.
[01:28:13] So next.
