[00:00:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Alrighty, let's get started with our breakdown. So movie picks up right at the end of Thor Ragnarok, right?

[00:00:08] [SPEAKER_00]: We see the statesmen being attacked by the sanctuary too.

[00:00:16] [SPEAKER_00]: We hear a voiceover of a distress call coming from the statesmen that's actually voiced by Kenneth Brana, who was the director of the first Thor movie.

[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Harry Potter nerds, you're gonna know him as Guild Roy Lockhart. I was wondering where he was in this movie and like I've seen this movie a lot. Where is he?

[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, just, you know, saying we're a refugee vessel. We have no weapons, we're not a warcraft.

[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_00]: This is not World of Warcraft.

[00:00:51] [SPEAKER_00]: That's your chance, Brana.

[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Amitation?

[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_00]: No, I have no idea what that will.

[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Half of us have been killed. There, that's my impression of his impression.

[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Precisely half of us are dead.

[00:01:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly half, and then we'll half again.

[00:01:07] [SPEAKER_00]: So you do see actually as we go into the statesmen here on screen, you actually do see the pleasure vessel kind of drifting off to the side.

[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Assumeedly carrying.

[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm gonna have to watch this movie again.

[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_00]: It's, yeah, you assume that that's carrying,

[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Valkyrie and Corg and meek and the rest of the,

[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_00]: the as guardians who do escape this here.

[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_00]: So the, the statesmen is being attacked by sanctuary two, which is phanos' ship.

[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_00]: This was what we already saw in, in Thorragnerock.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_00]: And we get to see the classic MCU logo.

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, no, just kidding, we don't.

[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, we got a little ways to go, don't we?

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Yep, it's dead.

[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's go ahead.

[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's go.

[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Hey, we're going to earth guys.

[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Nothing else happened.

[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's go.

[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_00]: No, they, they are destroyed.

[00:02:16] [SPEAKER_00]: The, the statesmen is destroyed and we see absolute destruction.

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Everybody is just dead.

[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_00]: So on board the ship,

[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_00]: we see the black order stepping over the dead bodies of our as guardians, right?

[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_00]: We see everybody's dead and the,

[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_00]: and Ebony Ma is stepping over and he's giving his little salil aquaive.

[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_00]: You have the privilege of being saved by the great Titan.

[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_00]: You might think this is suffering.

[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_00]: No, it is salvation.

[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Universal scales tip towards balance because of your sacrifice.

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Smile.

[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_00]: For even in death you've become children of Thanos.

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Do for a second there I thought it was Kermit the frog at the beginning.

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_01]: You have had the privilege of being saved by the great Titan.

[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_01]: You have the privilege of being saved by the great Titan.

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_04]: That's his cameo.

[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_01]: You've had to want to see when, oh, a child.

[00:03:20] [SPEAKER_04]: What are the wheels have to say about this?

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's just he ever passed back to Loki and then to Thanos who has his back turn to Loki and is staring out from the bridge into space.

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_00]: He sympathizes with the defeated as guardians.

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_00]: I know what it's like to lose.

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_00]: I feel so desperate that you are right, yet to fail nonetheless.

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Thanos' simple mo is to slaughter half of us of civilian population that he encounters as he's done here.

[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_00]: But his second goal in mind, he's trying to balance things.

[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to find that out more throughout the story.

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_00]: What his idea is how he can expand this with the Infinity Stones.

[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_00]: He picks Thor up by his collar and he carries him like a doll as he walks towards Loki.

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Actually you can't even really notice that it's Thor.

[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_00]: It just looks like buff as guardian number three until you really do.

[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_00]: You notice, okay, yeah, that's Thor.

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Thanos says destiny arrives all the time.

[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_00]: He raises the Infinity Gauntlet he's wearing to display that he has a single purple stone which we know is the power stone.

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_00]: And holds Thor by his skull and he asks Loki for the tester act.

[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Thanos says, the tester act or your brother's head.

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I assume you have a preference.

[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Loki instructs Thanos to kill away as we see kind of Thanos like powering up the stone to torture Thor before Loki pleads with Thanos to stop.

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Thor tells Thanos that the tester act was destroyed on Asgard.

[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Just before Loki says, no bro, I still got it.

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_00]: So we do see that the tester act is there.

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_00]: And Thor tells Loki that the sun will shine on them again.

[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Thanos says, your optimism is misplaced as guardian.

[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Loki, well for one thing, I'm not as guardian.

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_00]: And for another, we have a hole.

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, sweet call back to the first Avengers movie.

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_04]: So do we care that we never saw him blow up Nova?

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_02]: It's interesting.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_02]: The Rusos talked about that and they felt like it was unnecessary to do so.

[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_02]: It would be a little repetitive.

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_02]: I think what we would see analyzed to kind of put two and two together.

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_02]: First, I was like, wait, where did they get the purple stone from?

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_02]: But they've just felt it was kind of unnecessary and self explanatory.

[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_04]: And we don't have any characters that we necessarily care about.

[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, Glenn Close of course, National Treasure.

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_04]: But we don't, it's not like it's one of the main groups.

[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we haven't seen the character, Nova.

[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, the actual hero, Nova or anything like that.

[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, gosh, yeah. Right.

[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_00]: That hasn't really shown up.

[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think that the stand-in for Xandar is nowhere, where it's kind of acquired directly by Thanos and he just wipes out everyone.

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_02]: One of the, one of the fan theories suggested that, because when we talk about Thanos and the timing and why now?

[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_02]: And it was suggested that this happens after major,

[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_02]: there are certain characters that could have potentially stopped and so like Odin and the H1 and Ego.

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_02]: And with the death of those three Thanos now has like an easier lane to get the other stones, which I thought was kind of interesting.

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and this plays in a little bit to some of the infinity gauntlet theory as well because

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Nivindalier, which I'm going to pronounce a million ways and they're all probably going to be wrong during this episode.

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, well correct you when we get there.

[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Was protected by Asgard, right? And so with the death of Odin and Loki letting Asgard go to chaos, it means that it was no longer protected.

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_00]: So Thanos could go there and get an infinity gauntlet made,

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_00]: which, which would kind of play into this that Odin was one of the forces in the universe that was stopping this all from happening.

[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I suppose that's an interesting deterrent to have somebody who can be pretty much anywhere.

[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Like he's not omnipresent, he's not omniscient, but he is extremely powerful and he has a bridge that can take him pretty much anywhere.

[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_04]: So he could respond very quickly if anyone were to make a move on the stones in any real way.

[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely, that's that's interesting. Yeah.

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_00]: So as Loki tricks Thanos into letting his guard down, the Hulk joins the fight and we get an early advantage for for Hulk, but that doesn't last very long.

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I actually love this fight. This, this is a really cool one on one kind of CGI slow-profess between the Hulk and Thanos that ends in the Hulk being unconscious and unable to defeat Thanos.

[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Thor attempts an attack before Hymda'll calls Dark Magic in order to send Hulk back to Earth.

[00:09:09] [SPEAKER_04]: That first punch when Thanos really fights back against Hulk and Hulk goes, oh, like that's devastating.

[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, this dude's never actually been hit before.

[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. This is a bully who has never been stood up to.

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the Hulk is taking some some punches, right?

[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_00]: We saw it in Thor Ragnarok Thor. Yeah.

[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Thor gave him a little bit of a run and we see it definitely in the incredible Hulk.

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_00]: We see that the abomination can do a number to Hulk, but he's never lost, right?

[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_00]: He's never, he's never been at the disadvantage, which is, which is incredible to see here in this scene.

[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, it's basically Thanos and one stone and he just works Hulk like he's the Falcon.

[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_02]: And he's not using that stone. No, he's not. No, no, no, no.

[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_00]: He power up in that fight.

[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_02]: No, I think the, one of the comments I think was that in maybe we'll see this would go along, like

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_02]: As soon as he acquires a stone, you see him use it in the next scene.

[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_02]: So kind of the infinity stone McAfee. I guess, but if anything McAfee.

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_04]: In finna guffin. In finna guffin, I like it.

[00:10:30] [SPEAKER_00]: So Thanos kills Hime Dahl for the actions of sending Hulk off to Earth and that's where

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Apped to Zelda. Yeah. Go back to your illustrious career.

[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. You take that way off now.

[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I love it, Jerselba. And he was so good as Hime Dahl and to see him unceremoniously just take a sword to the

[00:11:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Chest was very sad here. He had that intense glare, though like he died with his eyes open

[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_04]: And his teeth on it is like that was badass. Yeah.

[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_00]: But he's definitely headed to, uh, he's definitely headed to Valhalla. That is for sure.

[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, so Thanos is given his second infinity stone by Ebene Ma.

[00:11:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Thanos notes that there are two infinity stones on Earth and he sends the black order

[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Who consists in this movie of Ebene Ma, Colib Sidiion,

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Proxima Midnight and Corbys Glaive, Corbys Glaive to retrieve the two stones.

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Now the black order, their first appearance was New Avengers volume three, number eight

[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_00]: in July of 2013. Colib Sidiion has actually just another name for the black order.

[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_00]: The character that they seem to be displaying here as Colib Sidiion in the comics he's

[00:12:03] [SPEAKER_00]: a black dwarf. So they just changed his name a little bit there.

[00:12:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Too many dwarves in the movie. Yeah.

[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_02]: One other thing to note is that in the Avengers Thor stated that Odin used the dark magic

[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_02]: to transport him to and from Earth as the by-frost was destroyed. And here Hime Dahl is using

[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_02]: the dark magic to safely send Hulk to Earth to warn folks of Thanos.

[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. And it's actually really cool too if you pay close attention,

[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_00]: you'll notice that on his way to Earth which is dead.

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Now I think it's in this scene as well. You see it. But Hulk first passes the sun and then he passes

[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_00]: the moon and then he lands on Earth, meaning that this would most likely be a solar eclipse.

[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_00]: This would be most likely during a solar eclipse. If that's a straight line, right?

[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Which the by-frost is depicted as a straight line, which then plays into Norse mythology

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_00]: that the solar eclipse is kind of the sign of the end times.

[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_02]: I thought you're going to say like an improves my theory that the Earth is flat and that's a record scratch

[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_02]: like what? All right. All right. We're going there.

[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_02]: So let me ask you this real quick. So at this point in time is like,

[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_02]: like, who? What combination of heroes would it take to beat Thanos?

[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Because he just wiped Hulk and he's got two stones.

[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like could the entire Avengers, maybe with a healthy vision or they just at this point

[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_02]: time, it's just screwed and it's like a feta company now.

[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, movie Avengers?

[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Movie Avengers. Yeah.

[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Because not as nerfed. Yeah.

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. One is nerfed. Maybe maybe Dr. Strange just because he's also wielding a stone

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_00]: obviously later in the movie we see how that's going to go.

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_00]: But he's wielding a stone and he's able to manipulate reality which is kind of an underrated

[00:14:16] [SPEAKER_00]: ability, right? Because that's the fabric of like the rules, right?

[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_00]: And so if you could get Thanos into a reality where his size and strength don't matter

[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_00]: then now now you know benefit Dr. Strange.

[00:14:39] [SPEAKER_02]: The other thing that struck me as I'm watching this is like at one point in time,

[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Loki had two infinity stones and it just makes you think like what if he had a combat

[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_02]: like and just how things would be different anyway.

[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I will not nerd out on the what if what if season three season three.

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_00]: So so yeah.

[00:15:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, I lost my spot in my brain.

[00:15:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what if season three. Yeah, exactly exactly.

[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_00]: So Loki offers his experience on earth and offers you know his resume if you will.

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_00]: He's a Prince of Asgard. He's Odin son and it's very it mirrors actually the framing

[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_00]: of the shot when he when Odin calls Loki his son.

[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_00]: They meered that that framing really quick.

[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_00]: When Loki kind of says I am Odin son.

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_00]: He's the rifle king of Yotinheim. He's the god of mischief and he pledges his fidelity

[00:15:49] [SPEAKER_00]: to Thanos end of story they go off crusading into the sunset.

[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm an arm. Yeah, no, just kidding. It's Loki. So it's Loki doing Loki things as he

[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_00]: neals he you see him produce a dagger and he tries to he tries to stab Thanos with it.

[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Thanos uses the the space stone to stop the attack and grabs Loki and strangles him to death in a

[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_00]: brutal murder scene like I forgot how brutal this was.

[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_00]: And Loki's last words are you will never be a god.

[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Thor sees his brother die for real this time as as Thanos says no resurrection this time.

[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_00]: And then Kevin five he says just kidding.

[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_02]: But no, the uh, uh, Roland talks about like how difficult filming this scene was because he felt

[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_02]: legitimately bad and it's you to your point it is really gruesome to watch him choke him to death

[00:17:11] [SPEAKER_02]: and then he turns kind of purplish and just like he's not of the same you know skin tones tough to watch.

[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so Thanos snaps his finger to activate the space stone and the power stone and escapes with the black order.

[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Just as the statesman is imploding all that remains is Thor and an exploding ship with his dead brother.

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_00]: We could over to Manhattan we see Dr. Stephen Strange and Wong at the sanctum sanctorum talking about their deli order

[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_00]: that's going to cost more than 500 rupees.

[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_02]: The line about I wouldn't turn down a tune about the screen writer said you know during the process of writing a film

[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_02]: You throw out a bunch of ideas and there's a bunch of lines he's like they said this is one that was there from the very beginning.

[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_02]: I have to let me through.

[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I want so much more Wong in and strange content.

[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah.

[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_00]: It like a Disney plus series that's Wong in the strange and their adventures in the multiverse.

[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Just an odd couple of sorts of things exactly.

[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Very so good.

[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_00]: So then Hulk comes crashing through the sanctum sanctorum in a very very clear call back to the silver surfer coming crashing through the sanctum sanctorum in the infinity gauntlet number one.

[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_00]: To talk about the torn of Thanos being on his way.

[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_00]: So as the Hulk crash lands he's reverting back to Bruce Banner and we just hear him kind of give a warning of Thanos is coming.

[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Dr. Strange says who?

[00:18:52] [SPEAKER_00]: And then now we get to read the title card.

[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah this is our opening scene.

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_00]: It's an expansion of that scene that we saw at the end of Ragnarok.

[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_00]: So this really sets us up and I think one thing that's interesting in the way that this is set up is you could actually frame this movie as Thanos being the protagonist of this movie.

[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_00]: And this movie or this scene sets that up really well.

[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Not the good guy right Thanos is clearly not the good guy.

[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_00]: The protagonist, the main character.

[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_04]: He certainly is the main character of the movie yeah.

[00:19:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah and I think this sets that up well and kind of gets us moving on our way.

[00:19:44] [SPEAKER_02]: So we're in Manhattan and thankfully I think it is real Manhattan and not Atlanta.

[00:19:51] [SPEAKER_02]: We see Tony Stark confiding to his now fiance pepper pots about a real dream that he had.

[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_02]: He drunk two of them had a child named after peppers eccentric uncle Morgan and by all means if you have an unstable relationship because remember they broke off in Silverwar

[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_02]: by all means get married have a kid and name that child after a wacky uncle.

[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_02]: So pepper tells him that if he wanted a child he wouldn't have called done that and then taps on his chest you know he at the end of Iron Man 3 you know he had promised to give up all of his armor

[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_02]: but he still has a version of his Iron Man armor stored in a compact form in this arc reactor using nanotechnology.

[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_02]: So just then strange peers with Bruce Banner they take him and only him I guess she gets left behind in Central Park where they tell about the six element of crystals created during the big bang.

[00:20:47] [SPEAKER_02]: These infinites don't each control an essential aspect of existence and so the directors talk about how you know you have to do at least a little bit of like laying the groundwork if you will and so we have this kind of exposition as to the creation of mind stones.

[00:21:01] [SPEAKER_02]: All right, the infinity stones. Bruce tells Tony of Thanos and his plan to acquire all six of the stones and wipe out half of the life in the universe.

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_02]: So Thanos already has the two and he's headed he has sent his goons to earth to obtain two more.

[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Strange words one and the eye agamotas we talked about at the beginning in the penant which has the time green time stone and doctor strangest warrant to protect the stone and not destroy in a garbage disposal which is a funny line.

[00:21:31] [SPEAKER_02]: We suggest they get rid of it meanwhile the mell milestone is embedded in visions forehead and his power to sense age of all tron again apologies Eric.

[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Bruce wants to cage the other vendors to find vision but Banner hasn't been on earth since all tron so he's missed the whole dissolution of the Avengers that happened in civil war.

[00:21:50] [SPEAKER_02]: And he tells him that he and capital langer and speaking term of banner persists and he says quote Thor is gone Thanos is coming it doesn't matter who you're talking to or not.

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_02]: So Tony breaks out a flip phone that he a just happened to have on him and b kept fully charged I guess for its just in case.

[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_00]: And it had had a text message notification at the top so clearly he and he and Steve have been sending something back and forth.

[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah they they were not on great terms at the end of at the end of civil war and so.

[00:22:28] [SPEAKER_02]: But before Tony can call Steve for you can like you know swallow his ego you know to save the world or universe.

[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Tony and strange leave the sanctum defines the they go outside and there's just a very chaotic scene on like you could see residents are are.

[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Screaming and running through the streets there cars crashing and they see yet another alien invasion this time.

[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_02]: In this kind of cool scene Tony and strange turn the corner of the sanctum and then you see the q ship this very kind of cool circular shaped spaceship if you will.

[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_02]: So Peter you know the bus driver says I want to matter whether you could never see this spaceship before and that's our our standly cameo.

[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_02]: And there's also what it's kind of fun this movie has a few callbacks to Stanley cameo so the flip phone which Tony had was delivered by Stanley in civil war.

[00:23:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Back it's for Tony stank.

[00:23:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Thor still sports the haircut that the barber gave him in Thor rag Rock and then his line in this movie is a reference to the charioteck when he was playing I think it was like chess or something and he makes a comment about aliens so.

[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Peter exits the bus as students freak out as the bus is distracted we see Spiderman swing out to join the fight and then we cut back to Tony and strange who find Abdi Ma and Colab city and who are looking to retrieve the timestone from Dr. Strange and two big CGI battle number one.

[00:24:28] [SPEAKER_02]: And Abdi Ma in his tradition like delivery of bad news it's like hear me and rejoice you're about to die at the hands of the children of Thanos be thankful that you're meeting this large and now contributed and then Tony's like I'm sorry earth is close today you better pack up and get out here.

[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Abdi Ma says stone keeper does this chattering animal speak for you strange that certainly not I speak for myself you're trespassing in the city on this planet.

[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Tony says he mean you mean get lost Squidward which kind of stupid funny line that still cracks me up.

[00:25:04] [SPEAKER_02]: So strange and long prepare for battle and Tony is there banner is there and Tony's trying to get banner to turn into the Hulk enjoying the fight.

[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_02]: And he's just so Tony's like looking straight forward and he's talking out the size like it's been a while it's going to be good to have anybody.

[00:25:20] [SPEAKER_02]: And for whatever reason like Hulk does not come out and Tony's like where's your guy Bruce I don't know we've been having this sort of thing and it's a it's no time for thing Bruce I know I know.

[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_02]: And and Tony's like that's that's the thing right there let's go and then you see Bruce try to turn and he gets green up to like his neck and he starts to turn and then he just he doesn't.

[00:25:49] [SPEAKER_02]: And Tony others the famous like dude you're embarrassing me in front of the wizards which is one of my favorite lines.

[00:25:57] [SPEAKER_02]: It's the the there were some theories that suggested that Hulk was afraid of fighting Thanos which is why we didn't come out but I think it had more to do with the relationship between.

[00:26:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Banner and Hulk that we saw in Ragnarok where like Hulk feels like banners always using him or you know banners being used for the Hulk and so forth and so the Hulk is just he's not coming out it could also do the fact that he was Hulk for so long.

[00:26:21] [SPEAKER_02]: And it could also be difficult for him to to e-mote into then you know bring the Hulk out so.

[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_02]: With the Hulk side line Tony decides to arm wrap by touching his arc reactor which powers up his in it nanoteir man suit and a bunch of extra weapons.

[00:26:39] [SPEAKER_02]: And and zaps a charging cold city and which sends him flying and then epony mod is a little kind of hand thing in the throwsman the car into a car.

[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Strange opens up a portal to transport banner to safety now I think you Brian had a comment on the suit up you said this is your number was great.

[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I was gonna ask where does this rank in your suit up this is literally my least favorite I hate the nanosuits that and this is this is based on the bleeding edge this is very very clearly based on the bleeding edge suit from the comics.

[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I do think the nanosuits are kind of cool in the comics.

[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_00]: The nanosuits get to a point where it almost gives Tony like green lantern style powers where anything he can imagine he can do right and obviously with a brain like Tony Stark that's a lot he can imagine a lot.

[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_00]: But you know, if you exist over Tony's face and somehow also absorb have a holder for his sunglasses.

[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_02]: the cloak of levitation, you know, flies strange away,

[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_02]: but he's caught by Maum.

[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_02]: And Spider-Man, who is wed to strange.

[00:30:02] [SPEAKER_02]: And so they're all going to space.

[00:30:05] [SPEAKER_02]: So Moss, seen transporting strange outside the Q ship,

[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_02]: whilst Spider-Man is clinging to the outside.

[00:30:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Iron Man rockets towards the ship and calls on Friday to open,

[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_02]: 17A, which shoots at a small pot of some sort.

[00:30:19] [SPEAKER_02]: But it's too late to save Peter,

[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_02]: who runs out of air and falls off the Q ship

[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_02]: and plummet to his,

[00:30:27] [SPEAKER_02]: no, sorry, sorry.

[00:30:29] [SPEAKER_02]: We see that pot of rife, and it's the Iron Spider armor.

[00:30:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Barmer in the MCU for iron, or for Spider-Man.

[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_00]: happen in distinct places.

[00:33:18] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's pretty easy to track.

[00:33:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Tony and Peter are on Ebony Maus ship

[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_00]: to try and rescue Dr. Strange in order to prevent

[00:33:29] [SPEAKER_00]: the Thanos from getting the time stone.

[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_00]: You also have the story thread that is in Manhattan.

[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_00]: And where Bruce is attempting to get in touch with the rest of the

[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Avengers in order to keep vision and the mind stone safe.

[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_00]: In space, Thor survived the destruction of his ship

[00:33:49] [SPEAKER_00]: and is saved by the guardians of the galaxy.

[00:33:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Even though they want to wipe him off with the windshield wiper.

[00:33:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Which don't seem to exist, I don't know.

[00:34:02] [SPEAKER_00]: So that's kind of the, they end up trying to stop Thanos from getting

[00:34:08] [SPEAKER_00]: the reality stone.

[00:34:10] [SPEAKER_00]: And then there's the soul stone.

[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Who at this point, Gamora is the only person who knows where the soul stone

[00:34:15] [SPEAKER_00]: is and we'll get to that harrowing story here later on.

[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_00]: At this point, we're going to follow the thread though with the guardians of the galaxy

[00:34:26] [SPEAKER_00]: and where they're headed.

[00:34:27] [SPEAKER_00]: So they are responding to that distress call.

[00:34:33] [SPEAKER_00]: They arrive, they see bodies floating through space and they hit one.

[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Who's alive?

[00:34:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Who asks, how is this due to live?

[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_00]: And as they're arriving actually, the song that's playing is rubber band man

[00:34:50] [SPEAKER_00]: The lyrics are actually about the producer's son who is teased for her being overweight,

[00:34:55] [SPEAKER_00]: which is kind of funny because in the next scene,

[00:35:10] [SPEAKER_00]: it's kind of like Yondu being Peter's dad kind of from the grave via the zoom,

[00:43:24] [SPEAKER_00]: When they happen to catch the news about the alien invasion in Manhattan

[00:43:27] [SPEAKER_00]: and the disappearance of Tony Stank.

[00:43:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Just then, Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive show up

[00:43:36] [SPEAKER_00]: to separate the mind stone from vision.

[00:43:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Vision is stabbed in the back by Corvus Glaive's Glaive.

[00:43:44] [SPEAKER_00]: And reverts to his normal appearance and his superhero suit.

[00:43:50] [SPEAKER_00]: We get a medium size CGI fight between everybody here.

[00:43:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Wanda fighting fights Proxima Midnight and Vision

[00:43:58] [SPEAKER_00]: mainly focuses on Corvus Glaive.

[00:44:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Vision being kind of useless.

[00:44:04] [SPEAKER_04]: In this fight.

[00:44:05] [SPEAKER_04]: Like, oh, I thought he was powerful.

[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Not in this one for the whole world.

[00:44:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Apparently he stores all of his power in his belly.

[00:44:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that one stab he's down.

[00:44:15] [SPEAKER_04]: They were failing.

[00:44:17] [SPEAKER_02]: But to your point, Eric, like I remember vision.

[00:44:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Like these two folks are like some of the very most powerful in the MCU.

[00:44:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And they're getting kind of washed by like two aliens.

[00:44:31] [SPEAKER_02]: And the roost of his viewpoint had said that like vision was nerfed

[00:44:36] [SPEAKER_02]: for the entire movie as a result of the stabbing.

[00:44:38] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know why.

[00:44:39] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if that's like right at your point.

[00:44:42] [SPEAKER_02]: It follows powers in the small of his back and then they ruptured whatever power cell

[00:44:46] [SPEAKER_02]: that was, but like he is basically worth a soul of movie.

[00:44:53] [SPEAKER_00]: It's pretty even.

[00:44:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, we say getting washed, but all said and done.

[00:44:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Everybody's kind of keeping up with each other.

[00:45:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Right, this is not the Wanda who can say no more mutants and suddenly alter

[00:45:37] [SPEAKER_00]: And then a train passes and we see a mysterious figure across the railroad tracks.

[00:45:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Proxima throws her scepter and it is caught by the mysterious person who walks out

[00:45:51] [SPEAKER_00]: of the shadows and its Steve Rogers complete with beard and flowy long locks.

[00:45:58] [SPEAKER_00]: By the way, this isn't early call for best beard.

[00:46:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Listen to the super secret spoiler show.

[00:46:04] [SPEAKER_00]: I won't spoil it, but this is a good beard.

[00:46:48] [SPEAKER_00]: They work together to defeat the aliens.

[00:46:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Natasha says, we don't want to kill you, but we will.

[00:46:55] [SPEAKER_00]: To which Proxbomb Midnight says, you'll never get the chance again as they are teleported away to their Q-tip.

[00:47:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Q-ship.

[00:47:06] [SPEAKER_00]: They get Wanda and Vision aboard their Quynjet and set home or set course for home Avengers compound.

[00:47:17] [SPEAKER_00]: This is super fun.

[00:47:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the, you do see that when Steve shows up, he doesn't have the star on his suit anymore.

[00:47:29] [SPEAKER_00]: You see that he ripped it off.

[00:47:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's torn it off.

[00:47:33] [SPEAKER_00]: You can see in the little cuts in the suit.

[00:47:35] [SPEAKER_00]: He's actually wearing the like scale male armor underneath from early early.

[00:47:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Captain America.

[00:47:44] [SPEAKER_00]: He's kind of muted the colors.

[00:47:46] [SPEAKER_00]: It looks like maybe he spray painted it black or he's dirty did up in some way.

[00:47:51] [SPEAKER_00]: It's very inspired by the Nomad, Moniker that Steve took on for all of four issues in the comics.

[00:48:01] [SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people like hold Nomad up as this super awesome thing and it did, it did mark a turn in the character of Steve Rogers where

[00:48:10] [SPEAKER_00]: he was in the comics.

[00:48:12] [SPEAKER_00]: He blindly followed the government for a very long time.

[00:48:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Once he figured out that Nixon was the head of the secret empire, which is a terrorist group in the comics.

[00:48:24] [SPEAKER_00]: He threw away the Captain America Moniker and was like, no, I still want to be a hero but I can't do the America thing.

[00:48:30] [SPEAKER_00]: So he was Nomad the man without a, without a country.

[00:48:35] [SPEAKER_04]: And then at the amazing Richard Nixon was a marful character.

[00:48:40] [SPEAKER_00]: It's implied heavily that it was Richard Nixon.

[00:48:44] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not like explicitly stated.

[00:48:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, let's stop with your political propping guys.

[00:48:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Stick to facts.

[00:48:53] [SPEAKER_04]: So after they easily jelly politician.

[00:49:11] [SPEAKER_00]: But the thing that stuck here was the idea that Captain American captain America can represent

[00:49:18] [SPEAKER_00]: American ideals without representing the government, which obviously will play through big and we used that theme carried through to the pretty much the whole MCU.

[00:49:30] [SPEAKER_00]: And that was the theme of Captain America's MCU appearances with the exception of his very first.

[00:49:37] [SPEAKER_00]: A appearance.

[00:49:39] [SPEAKER_00]: He was very much, you know, I'm for America not for the American government.

[00:49:45] [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't realize that Nomad was only handful of issues.

[00:49:48] [SPEAKER_02]: I remember actually reading as a young young kid.

[00:49:51] [SPEAKER_02]: I thought it was more than that but.

[00:49:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there were a few other characters that took up the Nomad title.

[00:49:58] [SPEAKER_00]: But Steve was only Nomad for four issues.

[00:50:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, we flashback years ago to Gamora's homeworld called Zen Will Berry.

[00:50:11] [SPEAKER_02]: I believe that's how it's pronounced, which is being invaded by Thanos and the black watch and the chariot army.

[00:50:21] [SPEAKER_02]: And again, to reiterate a theme he is playing to why but half the planet's population.

[00:50:27] [SPEAKER_02]: So Ebedima forces the the the the the the the the the very people to choose aside.

[00:50:31] [SPEAKER_02]: And so if you ever felt any kind of second guessing when you're at like Disneyland and do I get into the left.

[00:50:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Q or the right cue at pirates imagine one of the payoff is basically like you're going to choose aside.

[00:50:48] [SPEAKER_02]: A choose aside or die one side is a revelation.

[00:50:51] [SPEAKER_02]: The other is an honor only known to a few.

[00:50:55] [SPEAKER_02]: So Gamora gets separated from her mother and meets Thanos who offers to help.

[00:51:01] [SPEAKER_02]: And guides her to the temple arch. The directors talk about how.

[00:51:07] [SPEAKER_02]: He was impressed by her and she in some weird way and this very short period time sees her as a protector.

[00:51:18] [SPEAKER_02]: He does what you would do with any small child and pulls out a double age to switch blade as a toy.

[00:51:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Which he balances on his finger and you see in it kind of goes and delivers a speech which explains his philosophy and he goes pretty isn't it perfectly balanced as all things should be too much to one side or the other.

[00:51:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Here you try and he gives her the knife and you know the there's the some people tried to suggest that the pointing of the knife to one side of the other she hold it signifies which group.

[00:51:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Of of citizens of art are murdered if you will and that she is in the middle she is safe she's the one in the middle of the two so.

[00:52:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, Ebony Ma tell us one half of the crowd now go and piece and meet your maker and Gamora tries to turn and see what the commotions about but he forces her to look away and tells her to concentrate and he goes there you got it.

[00:52:15] [SPEAKER_02]: And and then he like that switch blade is more compelling than the location of her mom.

[00:52:21] [SPEAKER_02]: He takes it from her planet as his you know adopted slash abducted daughter to be a assassin and so we're getting you know this is another in a very long line of healthy MCU fathers right.

[00:52:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, fast forward to the present and we see Gamora and she you know still in possession that same knife and she's haunted by the flashbacks of when Thanos destroyed half of her planet.

[00:52:51] [SPEAKER_02]: She is the only person who knows where the soul stone is and it's on a planet called for mayor but she but you know Peter is asking her about it like, you know he once heard it telling him what it is and she says I can't tell you because if I tell you then you're equally at risk.

[00:53:09] [SPEAKER_02]: And then she says to Peter you like you promised me that you'll kill me rather than allowed be captured by Thanos and she says you know.

[00:53:19] [SPEAKER_02]: You know swear on your mother and so this kind of solemn yeah yeah that was that was a tough one.

[00:53:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, and they agree.

[00:53:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, they share a kiss which is their only on screen kiss that we've seen in the MCU and I think the only one will see.

[00:53:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, and this touching moment ends when they notice the tracks been standing with the entire time watching them for an hour.

[00:53:49] [SPEAKER_02]: And it cracks you up.

[00:53:50] [SPEAKER_02]: I do how debaties to so funny.

[00:53:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, and he's like are you serious?

[00:53:55] [SPEAKER_02]: And I've mastered the belief standing so incredibly still that I become invisible to the eye.

[00:54:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Watch and he just very slowly moves his hand and Peter's like you're eating his argument into the right movement.

[00:54:08] [SPEAKER_02]: So slow that it's imperceptible.

[00:54:10] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure I'm invisible and then man just walks up and she's like hi, Drex and he's like, damn it.

[00:54:18] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I need to backtrack just a little bit because that the comic timing in that is so perfect with mantis walking in.

[00:54:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Hi Drex.

[00:54:27] [SPEAKER_04]: But it reminds me in the first scene with the guardians when they're pulling in that they're pulling into the jump point where they find the statesmen destroyed.

[00:54:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Quil says put on your mean faces everybody and you see blurry in the background mantis goes.

[00:54:49] [SPEAKER_04]: And she keeps that face on for the rest of the scene whenever it whenever it flashes back, it never goes to her as the focus.

[00:54:57] [SPEAKER_04]: But just in the background she has her mean face on the rest of the rest of that scene.

[00:55:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I can't pronounce her last sentence.

[00:55:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Clementine.

[00:55:21] [SPEAKER_00]: And she's like marching through the collectors collection like a praying mantis.

[00:55:26] [SPEAKER_00]: She's got her like hands like cross like a praying mantis would and later on with gravity is affected.

[00:55:33] [SPEAKER_00]: She's bouncing around in the background.

[00:55:36] [SPEAKER_00]: So good.

[00:55:37] [SPEAKER_02]: She had to air to your point like she also I think I think she also makes the same face when she and Gamora enter on what is not the right and she has that kind of like that looking her face which is so funny like it's great it's great.

[00:55:53] [SPEAKER_02]: So they arrive on nowhere and it's a lot different than in the first Guardians movie the Rusus described flying into nowhere was like driving into Vegas on Friday night in gardens the galaxy and now it like something is way wrong.

[00:56:09] [SPEAKER_02]: That's way way different so.

[00:56:13] [SPEAKER_02]: They arrive in Thanos I would describe it if he's just he's like standing on the collectors chests and he is asking for the location in the reality.

[00:56:22] [SPEAKER_02]: He's just on.

[00:56:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Tovani's you know pretend like he didn't know what it was he doesn't have it.

[00:56:30] [SPEAKER_02]: You know he sold it without knowing what it really was so at that point in time drags like alright I've been waiting since the first movie to get my revenge because Thanos killed his wife and his daughter.

[00:56:44] [SPEAKER_02]: So and you see Peter kind of like run around like do just chill like just just hold on a second right and.

[00:56:52] [SPEAKER_02]: And then he's meant to before he can attack man to say put some to sleep and are like okay catastrophe and then he crashes with a loud thought on the ground.

[00:57:02] [SPEAKER_02]: So Thanos and like throws the collector into like a specimen cage.

[00:57:06] [SPEAKER_02]: To investigate the noise and so that's where you know Quil's like okay you to go on the right and they go not on the right.

[00:57:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Gamora attacks Thanos stabs him in the neck with sort stabs him in the chest with the switch blade double edge switch blade from from our childhood.

[00:57:29] [SPEAKER_02]: And kills him and you can see the collector applaud the victory from the little specimen.

[00:57:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Pop, move and move his over so that was a anyway so.

[00:57:41] [SPEAKER_02]: It's not over even.

[00:57:42] [SPEAKER_04]: You know that was quick.

[00:57:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, it actually just before we move on to the next piece here couple background interesting things that you notice here one is.

[00:57:53] [SPEAKER_00]: You can see Tobias blue is in one of the collectors like pages in his full blue man never knew.

[00:58:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, a few K or a few K. Yes.

[00:58:49] [SPEAKER_00]: That Benicio del Toro uses in snatch when he says the same line.

[00:58:57] [SPEAKER_00]: He goes where are the stones in in one of his scenes in snatch.

[00:59:02] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's almost I think Brolin probably was using that as just a little nod to the people who have seen snatch.

[00:59:12] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure like that would be that would be a great little net now that's a deep Easter egg.

[00:59:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Saying this is the guy who has a snatch inspired tattoo not for snatch, but because I saw a cat tattoo and I wanted a tattoo of my cat.

[00:59:56] [SPEAKER_02]: We also see Devon disappear and that nowhere is a flaming wreck of an area.

[01:00:04] [SPEAKER_02]: So Thanos actually traveled to note to know where prior to the gardens arriving.

[01:00:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Devon was aware that Thanos would have tried to take the reality stone so he was prepared to escape.

[01:00:15] [SPEAKER_02]: But Thanos acquired the ether from him.

[01:00:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Thanos then extracted.

[01:00:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And we don't see the sun screen but he extracted the ancient weapon from its container.

[01:00:22] [SPEAKER_02]: For solidifying it back to its original state and adding the reality stone to the infinity gauntlet.

[01:00:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Knowing the gardens would follow and needing Gamora to recover the soul stone.

[01:00:33] [SPEAKER_02]: He used the reality stone to bathe a trap for them.

[01:00:36] [SPEAKER_02]: So the using the reality stone he incapacitates tracks and mantis and takes Gamora captive.

[01:00:43] [SPEAKER_02]: You see the Thanos's reality bending attacks on mantis and tracks are like callbacks to a scene for the original comics where they were nebula was transformed ribbons

[01:00:53] [SPEAKER_02]: and star fox was sliced into cubes.

[01:00:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Peter's like Peter Rives in what is a super awkward meeting between girlfriends, dad and boyfriend tells Thanos I'm going to blow that nuttack of a chin right off of your face.

[01:01:13] [SPEAKER_02]: And Gamora reminds him of his promise to kill her if she was captured.

[01:01:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And so they tell each other I love you.

[01:01:20] [SPEAKER_02]: So he originally is pulling the gun at Thanos then he lowers it and points it at her.

[01:01:25] [SPEAKER_02]: And Thanos is basically kind of gading him and basically kind of daring him to do it.

[01:01:36] [SPEAKER_02]: And the blasture only shoots out bubbles like and Thanos says I like him before he disappears with Gamora.

[01:01:45] [SPEAKER_02]: And he is just stunned thinking what's happening Peter is and then drags mantis.

[01:01:50] [SPEAKER_02]: I guess return to the regular forms because the reality stone is no longer present or it was temporary perhaps.

[01:01:55] [SPEAKER_02]: But it was maybe or it was an illusion perhaps.

[01:02:00] [SPEAKER_02]: One thing to note in the original script Peter is unable to bring himself to fulfill his promise and so actually does not pull the trigger but.

[01:02:08] [SPEAKER_02]: changed it very kind of kind of emotional scene for sure.

[01:02:12] [SPEAKER_00]: This movie could also be called how Peter ruined the universe.

[01:02:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Don't give me started gosh I would say if there was an issue character stock who dropped the leat the most.

[01:02:24] [SPEAKER_02]: That thing is like it's a penny stock after this movie I'm just saying so.

[01:02:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Cut back to Avengers compound at upstate New York James Rhodes is on another boring zoom security call with the secretary of state that he's Ross.

[01:02:39] [SPEAKER_02]: The two are having a very pointed exchange of his presidential run.

[01:02:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah he well he hasn't shaved the mustache.

[01:02:47] [SPEAKER_02]: The mustache lose the mustache lose the election.

[01:02:52] [SPEAKER_02]: The two are having a pointed exchange about the disappearance of vision who is somewhere along with the four vigilante vendors in a stolen queen jet.

[01:03:03] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they have this kind of.

[01:03:06] [SPEAKER_02]: That is Ross who I think is in the minute movie for like 90 seconds or so they have this exchange around like.

[01:03:11] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, Rhodes is having a change of thought and it's like my god roads your talent for horseship rivals my own.

[01:03:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And basically says you know, you know, basically Rhodes has these had second thoughts as he expresses he roads expresses his changed stance on the scoviacords.

[01:03:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Who shows up but Steve Rogers Natasha Romanoff Sam Wilson and vision enter the room.

[01:03:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Ross says the world's on fire and you think all is forgiven Steve says I'm not looking for forgiveness.

[01:03:44] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm way pan and way pass asking for permission Earth just lost for best defenders so we're here to fight and if you stand on our way will fight you too.

[01:03:54] [SPEAKER_02]: So Ross quarters roads to rest them to which he says I'm on it before shutting off the hologram and saying well that's court martial great to see you cap.

[01:04:03] [SPEAKER_02]: So it's a fun little call back to civil war where Rodey was the first call captain america you know he says congratulations cap your criminal after the scoviacords were signed so.

[01:04:16] [SPEAKER_02]: They're joined by Bruce who welcomes it back there they discussed Thanos's army and his plan to get the infinity stones vision offers to have the mind stone destroyed which would sacrifice himself to thwart in order to thwart Thanos's plan.

[01:04:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Steve however shoots down the offer we don't trade lives and then Bruce points out that visions mind is made up of a complex construct of overlays Jarvis ultra Tony me stone.

[01:04:44] [SPEAKER_02]: And that there will still be quote the best parts of vision even after they've removed the stone but they have to act fast so caps adjust the go to Wakanda where they have you know their advance sure he's advanced technology might get the ability to remove the mind stone for vision safely.

[01:04:57] [SPEAKER_02]: So we then see a quick scene and Wakanda were to challa and a koi discuss learning the various tribes border tribes about an upcoming fight.

[01:05:07] [SPEAKER_02]: They also engage the white wolf aka bucky who quote maybe tired of war but is rested long enough and they bring them a vibranium arm.

[01:05:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Barnes says where's the fight to challa says it's on the way and in the comics the white wolf is the ultra ego of to challa's adopted older brother right not agent Ross as we'd hoped in the last movie kidding so.

[01:05:34] [SPEAKER_02]: And that's you know that's we are now we're getting close we are setting the scene and then we shift back to everyone's favorite alien Ebony Ma.

[01:05:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so we move back over to Ebony Ma's Q ship he's torturing doctor strange in an effort to get him to turn over the time stone Ebony Ma in time.

[01:06:00] [SPEAKER_00]: In all the time that I have served Thanos I have never failed him if I were to reach our rendezvous on Titan without the time stone still attached to your vaguely irritating person there would be judgment.

[01:06:17] [SPEAKER_00]: A board that same ship we see Iron Man and spider man who are without their AI because apparently doing it locally processed doesn't make sense at this point.

[01:06:28] [SPEAKER_00]: It all is processed in the cloud again.

[01:06:30] [SPEAKER_00]: The roaming charges are in that.

[01:06:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And the the cloak of levitation is also handling with them I love that the cloak of levitation kind of gets to be a character in this movie super fun totally.

[01:06:45] [SPEAKER_00]: And with the two discussing their game plan for saving strange Peter asks Tony if he's ever seen that really old movie aliens.

[01:06:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Iron Man powers up and brace in his brace to attack Ebony Ma who is unimpressed Ebony Mosses your powers are in consequential compared to mine.

[01:07:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Iron Man yeah, but the kids seen more movies just then Iron Man fires a rocket into the wall the ship blasting it open sending Ebony Ma into space and copying actually aliens and the alien queens kind of.

[01:07:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Crippled you know, stances she's killed Ebony Ma is also killed this way.

[01:07:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Strange also starts to get sucked out but the cloak of levitation tries to save him slips out of its grip spider man shoots a web line out and tries to pull strange up.

[01:07:44] [SPEAKER_00]: But the piece of metal that he's holding onto breaks we're gonna lose strange.

[01:07:49] [SPEAKER_00]: They're getting pulled out the hole and then here come the wall those so the wall those the artificial spider legs come out of the the iron spider suit.

[01:08:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Hold on to the wall and save everybody it occurs to me this is basically the elevator collapsing scene in the Washington monument from spider man.

[01:08:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I'm gonna write like same like snap. Oh, no, it's not the door frames now. Oh, no everything's breaking. I've got a safe.

[01:08:17] [SPEAKER_02]: What is still dead? Oh, man, our peace Squidward.

[01:08:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Strange and stark a bigger back and forth as the Q ship is headed towards Titan strange wants to head back to earth. He's opposed to the idea of bringing the timestone to Thanos.

[01:08:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Tony proposes fighting Thanos on his home ground, but it will be risky but at least they'll be on their terms.

[01:08:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Strange agrees and but makes it clear that if he has to choose between saving the timestone or Tony or Peter he will let them die Tony that officially instruction Peter in ducks Peter into the Avengers with a fun little like nighting him with his hand.

[01:09:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I believe he leaving Peter both elated and unnerved. He's seen we yeah, I love the the like hi I'm Peter Parker. I'm Dr. Strange. Oh, we're using our made up names I'm Spider.

[01:09:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Spider.

[01:09:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Also, this this really shows us in these two scenes back to back it shows us the two people who get it right this whole movie is about sacrifice and accepting the sacrifice play and the only two Avengers who get that are

[01:09:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Steven Strange and vision those are the only two of us. Everybody else is dead set on saving everybody and making sure everybody lives which ultimately leads to the end of the movie right it leads to half of everybody dying.

[01:10:00] [SPEAKER_00]: And so if you take the theme as like accepting sacrifice and accepting death you have literally two people on the Avengers side that.

[01:10:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Understand that at this point.

[01:10:16] [SPEAKER_00]: So we cut to Thanos and Gamora on Titan Gamora is expressing her anger towards him for taking away.

[01:10:25] [SPEAKER_00]: For taking her away from her planet and killing half of her race. Thanos explains to Gamora that the resources of the universe are limited and that corrective action is required to restore balance motivating Thanos to kill half the half of the population of the universe to restore this balance Thanos has already accessed.

[01:10:58] [SPEAKER_00]: And then.

[01:11:17] [SPEAKER_00]: So,

[01:11:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Marvel. That's the one I got wrong.

[01:11:21] [SPEAKER_04]: The planet for a mirror?

[01:11:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I couldn't remember for a mirror.

[01:11:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I could have pulled the floor mirror out.

[01:11:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Thanos says show me.

[01:11:29] [SPEAKER_02]: I do even watch these movies run.

[01:11:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.

[01:11:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Tell me about it.

[01:11:33] [SPEAKER_04]: I can imagine on the screen, you know, Ed and Burr.

[01:11:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was like, it was the one that killed me.

[01:11:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, what is the name of that planet?

[01:11:42] [SPEAKER_02]: I can imagine, so when you do,

[01:11:44] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure when you guys do trivia,

[01:11:46] [SPEAKER_02]: there's like, okay, the sports person.

[01:11:48] [SPEAKER_02]: This is the person in this history.

[01:11:49] [SPEAKER_02]: This person knows world events and you're the comics nerd.

[01:11:53] [SPEAKER_02]: And the pressure which is built upon, you were like,

[01:11:57] [SPEAKER_02]: okay, which I'm more suited to anywhere in this movie.

[01:12:02] [SPEAKER_02]: And they're like, why do we bring you?

[01:12:06] [SPEAKER_02]: In the, in fanning, gauntlet comic, Thanos is actually dead

[01:12:11] [SPEAKER_02]: and is resurrected by mistress death

[01:12:13] [SPEAKER_02]: with the order that he killed half the population

[01:12:15] [SPEAKER_02]: of the universe under belief that there were more people alive

[01:12:19] [SPEAKER_02]: than have ever died.

[01:12:21] [SPEAKER_02]: And then that's the required corrective action to restore balance.

[01:12:25] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's kind of fun to think of when we're not fun,

[01:12:28] [SPEAKER_02]: but it's interesting to think of

[01:12:30] [SPEAKER_02]: nebulous decision at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy 2

[01:12:34] [SPEAKER_02]: where she goes to kill Thanos.

[01:12:37] [SPEAKER_02]: And the thinking that maybe this is what Kickstarter

[01:12:39] [SPEAKER_02]: the Infinity War because when she goes to kill him,

[01:12:42] [SPEAKER_02]: he captures her instead and then watches her memories

[01:12:45] [SPEAKER_02]: with Gamora and that's what allows him to know the location

[01:12:48] [SPEAKER_02]: in the missing soulstone.

[01:12:49] [SPEAKER_02]: So when he says like, what does he say?

[01:12:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Is there something in effect of like,

[01:12:53] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not if I'm not disappointed that you didn't find the stone,

[01:12:58] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm disappointed that you did and then lied about it,

[01:13:01] [SPEAKER_02]: which is also there's an homage to like,

[01:13:03] [SPEAKER_02]: I can't remember, I think it was Peter and like one of the early movies

[01:13:05] [SPEAKER_02]: like you, the daughters, they're both terrible layers which are those fun.

[01:13:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, and it's a through line.

[01:13:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Thanos is never a liar.

[01:13:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Like Thanos is never a liar and we see that reference several times

[01:13:19] [SPEAKER_00]: that he'll put his idea out in front of you.

[01:13:24] [SPEAKER_00]: And like you said, in the comics,

[01:13:26] [SPEAKER_00]: he's in love with death and

[01:13:29] [SPEAKER_00]: convinces him to kill half of all life with the snap.

[01:13:33] [SPEAKER_00]: He's much more of a loner.

[01:13:35] [SPEAKER_00]: He's not this like altruistic,

[01:13:39] [SPEAKER_00]: go terrorist if he basically is what he's he is here, right?

[01:13:47] [SPEAKER_00]: He's he's more of like a loner and more you know,

[01:13:50] [SPEAKER_00]: he's doing it for love really ultimately.

[01:13:54] [SPEAKER_04]: It's interesting at the start of the movie when he's talking to Loki

[01:13:58] [SPEAKER_04]: when we first see Thanos.

[01:14:01] [SPEAKER_04]: His take on failure is very interesting because that's basically him except he

[01:14:06] [SPEAKER_04]: wins at the end.

[01:14:07] [SPEAKER_04]: But to say, to know so desperately that you're right and fail anyway,

[01:14:15] [SPEAKER_04]: he has his convictions.

[01:14:17] [SPEAKER_04]: He knows that this is the way to save the universe.

[01:14:21] [SPEAKER_04]: This is it there are no other ways, you know, why?

[01:14:26] [SPEAKER_04]: Why use the gauntlet to create more resources with the people after the universe?

[01:14:31] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's ultimately what makes him a villain, right?

[01:14:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Is that the the path he has chosen is the cut, cut,

[01:14:39] [SPEAKER_00]: cut, cut demand in half.

[01:14:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Don't increase supply infinitely, right?

[01:14:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Don't create destroy.

[01:14:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah and that that's ultimately what differentiates him from the heroes to being a villain.

[01:21:28] [SPEAKER_02]: he said you know I'm I'm 1500 years old I've killed twice as many enemies as that

[01:21:32] [SPEAKER_02]: every one of them would rather killed me than not succeeded I'm only life because fate wants me alive

[01:21:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Thanos is just the latest of a long line of bastards and he'll be the latest to feel my vengeance

[01:21:43] [SPEAKER_02]: fate wills it so and so rocket asks what if he's wrong and Thor says well if I'm wrong

[01:22:30] [SPEAKER_02]: hits home or not hits home but like really impacts um I guess like well I could lose a lot

[01:23:15] [SPEAKER_02]: as guard was supposed to defend uh he's supposed to defend the planet but was destroyed in

[01:23:21] [SPEAKER_02]: a nino Thorx plan that was just stored in ragnaraut and Thanos being like super cool and chill

[01:23:26] [SPEAKER_02]: killed all three end dwarfs anyway and then encased etry's hands in metal so um and you know Thoris

[01:23:35] [SPEAKER_02]: here because his be owner uh was destroyed in ragnaraut when hell I grabbed it and just turned it

[01:23:42] [SPEAKER_02]: to just rocks into and shattered it so Thor points out to etry that his brains not his hands are

[01:23:50] [SPEAKER_02]: like every weapon he's ever crafted and they can make a weapon powerful enough to kill Thanos

[01:23:54] [SPEAKER_02]: called stormbreaker now I don't know why when you're making the infinity gauntlet for Thanos

[01:23:59] [SPEAKER_02]: you don't just build like a little self-destruct button in there and just but I'm put that aside

[01:24:04] [SPEAKER_04]: he's watching you know he's probably standing there however he seems like a micromanager

[01:29:14] [SPEAKER_02]: exchange comes terrible it exchange for the stone Gamora thinks Thanos' plan is doomed like she's

[01:29:22] [SPEAKER_02]: just like okay well this we were going to worry about you you've sacrificed a loved one because you

[01:29:26] [SPEAKER_02]: don't love anyone but yourself and when Thanos weeps she mocks him but then quickly realizes that

[01:29:33] [SPEAKER_02]: he loves her as a daughter and even we're still that he's willing to offer her life for the

[01:29:38] [SPEAKER_02]: soul stone um I know right uh Gamora tries to kill herself and then struggles to break free

[01:29:45] [SPEAKER_02]: of Thanos' grasp but it's to know a valley tosses her to her death and obtains the soul stone

[01:29:51] [SPEAKER_02]: and it's just like just the the CGI just flipping her off the the the the edge cliff like

[01:29:59] [SPEAKER_00]: oh man I think this is the moment where if it was not already clear to you that Thanos

[01:30:07] [SPEAKER_00]: had a shot at winning this is the moment where that that became abundantly clear in the movie

[01:32:53] [SPEAKER_00]: situation she's like why didn't you just make the neurons do it for you it's like I'm sure you did your best

[01:33:01] [SPEAKER_00]: touch a plug little play it like yeah sure sure he is the smartest person in the MCU at this

[01:33:07] [SPEAKER_02]: point I like I like Koyay's earlier comment when you said when you said you're going to open

[01:33:13] [SPEAKER_02]: what kind of the rest of the world this is not what I imagined and she was like where'd you imagine he's

[01:33:38] [SPEAKER_00]: force field dome the Avengers hold the line as they try to buy some time to allow Shuri to remove

[01:33:44] [SPEAKER_00]: the mind stone to Charles says evacuate the city engage all defenses and get this man a shield and he

[01:33:51] [SPEAKER_00]: points to to Captain America that's it moment from the trailer can you get him like a like something

[01:33:59] [SPEAKER_02]: bad like he's fine with shield like can you get like a gun or something like a light sazer and a sharp stick

[01:34:09] [SPEAKER_02]: get this man a bottle so you can break it over some aliens head so we cut back to

[01:35:09] [SPEAKER_00]: a piece of it breaks closes it down eat three cannot heat the metal and so the Thor has no

[01:35:17] [SPEAKER_00]: choice but to hold the gate open manually taking the full force of the star slowly burning him to death

[01:35:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Thor passes out and is dying it rewarns him

[01:35:30] [SPEAKER_04]: that's with that it'll kill you not a five-die first that's what killing me that's what killing

[01:35:37] [SPEAKER_00]: you means yeah so each we forge's stormbreaker which Thor needs to survive he needs his axe

[01:35:48] [SPEAKER_00]: but it needs a handle so then we see the one person who can become a handle which is group

[01:35:55] [SPEAKER_00]: he binds the two heads together holds onto it and breaks his own arm off to become the handle

[01:36:06] [SPEAKER_00]: this flies to Thor's hand the completed weapon flies to Thor's hand when it is summoned

[01:36:13] [SPEAKER_00]: instantly healing him turning him full god of thunder mode meanwhile back on Wakanda the

[01:36:21] [SPEAKER_00]: dormalage the border tribe the japani tribe along with the remaining Avengers Captain America

[01:36:26] [SPEAKER_00]: black Panther Bruce Banner Bruce Banner in the Hulkbuster armor to compensate for his

[01:36:34] [SPEAKER_00]: lack of Hulk Bucky Barnes who is just wielding a gun he's just a guy with the gun

[01:36:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Sam Wilson and Natasha Romanov with Wanda hanging back

[01:36:49] [SPEAKER_00]: guarding vision and sure he attempt to hold the line as Thanos's forces try to break through

[01:36:58] [SPEAKER_00]: the force field to get to the minestone Thanos Thanos's forces have enough reserves that they can

[01:37:05] [SPEAKER_00]: basically just throw themselves at the shields and like slowly burn holes with their corpses I guess

[01:37:15] [SPEAKER_00]: they start to surround the dome at which point Tallah tells them to open up the barrier in one

[01:37:21] [SPEAKER_00]: specific spot this creates a really cool funnel which gives us a great big huge CGI Wakanda

[01:37:31] [SPEAKER_00]: battle scene which is not all CGI right we learned in the black Panther movie they practically built

[01:37:37] [SPEAKER_00]: this hill right they built this hill for Wakanda which is really cool so big battle ensues

[01:37:46] [SPEAKER_00]: uh the Wakondans and Avengers are barely keeping the aliens at bay until a big glowing

[01:37:55] [SPEAKER_00]: in rainbow bridge hits and we see Thor rocket and group have arrived by the buy frost Thor

[01:38:06] [SPEAKER_00]: lays waste to some aliens and screams bring me Thanos meanwhile Bruce Banner I thought Chris

[01:38:14] [SPEAKER_00]: were a thundering the podcast that was those people Bruce Banner announced is there a rival

[01:38:21] [SPEAKER_00]: by all you guys are so screwed now we're to buy the way we're to Bruce get the hope buster armor from

[01:38:30] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah I mean I guess Avengers sure one of Wakondans had a spareset that they were holding on

[01:38:39] [SPEAKER_00]: just think we didn't know they existed so at this point now we're down from four story lines we

[01:38:48] [SPEAKER_00]: have narrowed them down into essentially two story lines right we have Wakanda and we have Titan

[01:38:56] [SPEAKER_00]: so we go back to Titan the homeworld of Thanos which actually this was interesting because

[01:39:04] [SPEAKER_00]: this is a change from the comics so in the comics it's actually the the moon of Saturn Titan

[01:39:09] [SPEAKER_00]: is where Thanos is from versus here it is an exoplanet so beyond our solar system

[01:39:18] [SPEAKER_00]: so so a little bit of a change from you know a moon orbiting a known planet to kind of an unknown planet

[01:39:26] [SPEAKER_00]: also it should be noted that in the comics Thanos nuke's his own his home planet

[01:39:35] [SPEAKER_00]: so this whole like eco they drove themselves to ruin by consuming all the resources

[01:39:43] [SPEAKER_00]: yeah that didn't happen Thanos nuke them so he explains to strange that Titan was once an idyllic

[01:39:52] [SPEAKER_00]: planet but had finite resources his plan was to cut a population in half but he was treated as a madman

[01:39:58] [SPEAKER_00]: um Thanos was right eventually Titan did fall into ruin and become a lifeless wasteland

[01:40:11] [SPEAKER_00]: basically Thanos applied this to the whole universe he thinks everything is finite and you know

[01:40:18] [SPEAKER_00]: that's why we have to use the infinity stones to wipe out half of everything

[01:40:22] [SPEAKER_00]: strange says and then what Thanos says I'd finally rest and watch the sun rise on a

[01:40:30] [SPEAKER_00]: great full universe the hardest choices require the strongest wills strange I think you'll find that

[01:40:38] [SPEAKER_00]: our will equals yours sweetline Dr. Strange hour Thanos can use looking at says

[01:40:47] [SPEAKER_00]: at that moment the space going half of the Avengers which consists of Ironman Dr. Strange in Spider Man

[01:40:54] [SPEAKER_00]: and the full of space failures space fenders yeah and the four guardians of the galaxy

[01:41:00] [SPEAKER_00]: quill dracks mantis and nebula all launch a coordinated fight against Thanos with their combined

[01:41:08] [SPEAKER_00]: powers they are able to subdue Thanos after mantis uses her empathic abilities to subdue him

[01:41:15] [SPEAKER_00]: by the way mantis is one of the most OP one-on-one fighters in this whole MCU like like how yeah

[01:41:24] [SPEAKER_00]: the ability to just if you can lay a hand on your enemy you just can put them to sleep essentially

[01:41:30] [SPEAKER_04]: all you need is another person to walk up and push them over yeah exactly

[01:41:37] [SPEAKER_00]: all you need is not Peter Quill to be a dickhead like he's about to be

[01:41:42] [SPEAKER_00]: where is my girlfriend? Quill questions Thanos about Gamora and mantis who is still in

[01:41:52] [SPEAKER_00]: empathic contact tells him that he is in anguish and he mourns nebula reveals that

[01:42:02] [SPEAKER_00]: that Thanos took Gamora to four-amir and that Thanos came back with the soulstone

[01:42:08] [SPEAKER_00]: but without Gamora so he is grieving that he murdered her so then Starlord just absolutely loses his

[01:42:22] [SPEAKER_00]: mind and ruins the Avengers careful control of the fight he attacks Thanos who stabs out of it

[01:42:30] [SPEAKER_00]: and breaks free just as the gauntlet was finally removed Thanos turns the tide using the stones to

[01:42:39] [SPEAKER_00]: break off parts of nearby moon and throw them at his opponents it's crazy to see the glove come

[01:42:47] [SPEAKER_04]: completely off he grabs it by the cuff and then beats them with the loot down it I mean it was that

[01:42:55] [SPEAKER_00]: clue it was we were inches away from success yeah it's wild so we have now lost all the fight

[01:43:05] [SPEAKER_00]: planning it's all gone and yeah I like this is again why this movie could be how Peter Quill

[01:43:17] [SPEAKER_02]: wrote in the universe so was this part was this like I presume strange for saw this and this

[01:43:25] [SPEAKER_00]: is just all part of the plan right first saw yes part of the plan no I mean I I don't think he had

[01:43:33] [SPEAKER_00]: time to go into to go into like psychological preparation with Quill to get him ready to hear

[01:44:08] [SPEAKER_04]: yet least needed to set it up yeah but yeah I don't know yeah I don't think that was the plan

[01:45:03] [SPEAKER_00]: that didn't go well either. No so well there was a there was sorry there was a

[01:45:12] [SPEAKER_00]: alternate I think it was filmed an alternate moment here where

[01:45:20] [SPEAKER_00]: strange actually takes Thanos to an alternate like state of being kind of a vision is my understanding

[01:45:29] [SPEAKER_00]: where he faces the living tribunal and is is counted as guilty. No well um obviously we didn't

[01:45:39] [SPEAKER_00]: see the living tribunal here but yeah that was a considered not ending but more of like

[01:45:48] [SPEAKER_00]: instead of mantis of doing him it was like strange putting him in a trans kind of thing.

[01:45:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Interesting was that like a deletitan or that was just like a storyline that they didn't pursue.

[01:46:48] [SPEAKER_02]: kind of wild think about um so Wanda sees the fight turning on her friends this is the scene where I

[01:46:56] [SPEAKER_02]: mentioned before where she had no idea she's looking at a green screen she has no idea what she's

[01:47:00] [SPEAKER_02]: looking at and that she I saw a recording where she was like I hate the way that I look

[01:47:04] [SPEAKER_02]: wish they would have told me I would have acted you know in a different manner so

[01:47:09] [SPEAKER_02]: she had one she had one role she had one duty that was to guard uh to stay at Shuri's side so

[01:47:17] [SPEAKER_02]: she was like you know what not gonna do that so she's going to help even the odds and so

[01:47:23] [SPEAKER_02]: which is exactly what Proxima Midnight and called city we're planning for vision is now exposed

[01:47:28] [SPEAKER_02]: how they knew that and no idea anyway the so the remaining three members of the Black Order

[01:47:34] [SPEAKER_02]: converge on vision as the Dormolage and Shuri tried to fight them off before weekend vision grabs

[01:47:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Corvus Glaive flies out of window. Cap Cezis calls out to his fellow vendors to help protect

[01:47:45] [SPEAKER_02]: vision Falcon gets tackle midair scouting which is stopped by Proxima Midnight who says quote he'll

[01:47:52] [SPEAKER_02]: lie alone as will you and just then Black Widow and Aquay joined the fight versus Proxima

[01:47:58] [SPEAKER_02]: she's ultimately defeated when Wanda for Throes are in some sort of oncoming armor transport

[01:48:04] [SPEAKER_02]: in his kill so yay girl power um Bruce Banner in the Hulkbuster honor joins vision in the

[01:48:13] [SPEAKER_02]: fight against Corvus and Colombs city and Hulk still won't come out to play it's obviously Bruce

[01:48:19] [SPEAKER_02]: really has no idea how to operate the Hulk armor get this arms snapped off like it's getting

[01:48:24] [SPEAKER_02]: kind of worked so Banner slaps a part of the armor on a Colombs city and flies him into the Dome

[01:48:30] [SPEAKER_02]: which causes him to explode and die so you know at this point time things are starting to look

[01:48:35] [SPEAKER_02]: up here right uh Cap joins fight against Corvus Glaive who's poised to kill Steve but just then

[01:48:41] [SPEAKER_02]: vision stabs Corvus from the back killing the last member of the Black Order here's what it's

[01:48:48] [SPEAKER_02]: like see if you like it it looks like good guys and in gals are about to win um things are not looking

[01:48:55] [SPEAKER_02]: as good on Titan spiderman is swinging around webbing the guardians who are kind of floating around

[01:49:00] [SPEAKER_02]: above the planet surface hard describe but you know if to say them Dr. Strange faces off against

[01:49:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Thanos and just empties out his spell book and um in the notes uh I on rewatch the one one

[01:49:14] [SPEAKER_02]: things are really struck me were the the spells like all the things all the different tricks that

[01:49:21] [SPEAKER_02]: he uses to try to stop Thanos so he in order he um cast the seven sons of cinemas which creates

[01:49:30] [SPEAKER_02]: an energy blast that is as hot as seven sons then he summons the mirror dimension as a barrier

[01:49:38] [SPEAKER_02]: against Thanos' attacks and attempts to turn them back using the mirror dimension we see strange

[01:49:45] [SPEAKER_02]: it so at one point time Thanos hurls a black hole at um at strange which he then turns in a

[01:49:54] [SPEAKER_02]: butterflies using the hori hosts of hoggith um then he cast the images of icon which is the kind of

[01:50:05] [SPEAKER_02]: famous spell where he has like the you know eight or 12 arms behind him and it's intended to

[01:50:11] [SPEAKER_02]: obscure the location of the caster and so this the the iconic visual of strange with like

[01:50:18] [SPEAKER_02]: you know multiple arms before you look in the sky and there's like scores of strangers there

[01:50:43] [SPEAKER_02]: you know lasso's rocketer or bands binding them up but ultimately foreign finnity stones will prevail

[01:50:51] [SPEAKER_02]: over one and then strange is defeated so Thanos grabs the eye of agamoto in order to retrieve the

[01:50:58] [SPEAKER_02]: time stone but in the words of hella it's fake it's not there so we're finally down to

[01:51:07] [SPEAKER_02]: big boss fight between Thanos and Ironman Ironman fight Thanos using every single advanced

[01:51:13] [SPEAKER_02]: technology that is Mark L Ironman R. R. R. R. R. So the nano technology one of the cool things you

[01:51:19] [SPEAKER_02]: notice is like every time Thanos breaks part of the like he breaks the mask and then the nano tech

[01:51:25] [SPEAKER_02]: naughty keeps repairing the mask and various parts of the armor as Thanos destroys it

[01:51:31] [SPEAKER_02]: and I know you had Ryan had a comment about the nano tech here yeah yeah like i mentioned earlier

[01:51:39] [SPEAKER_00]: it's a little bit underplayed here but but it is kind of like if he can imagine it like

[01:51:45] [SPEAKER_00]: the nano tech can make it and and I remember reading a comic where like Ironman had to create a

[01:51:55] [SPEAKER_00]: his suit into a rail done like a particle accelerator type gun and and in like basically the idea here

[01:52:04] [SPEAKER_00]: is he can counter whatever the enemy has and I think they they rightfully limited it a little bit

[01:52:13] [SPEAKER_00]: to like weapons systems and propulsion systems here because that makes sense and none of them

[01:52:20] [SPEAKER_00]: terribly outlandish right they were they were all kind of things we'd seen before

[01:52:25] [SPEAKER_00]: but it is really cool the way that like that is one thing I will say for the nano tech that is

[01:52:30] [SPEAKER_00]: cool is the way that it can kind of do that and I would also mention that the bleeding edge

[01:52:36] [SPEAKER_00]: suit which is this is based off of is actually the you probably heard comic fans talk about the

[01:52:45] [SPEAKER_00]: bleeding edge suit because it is actually stored in Tony Stark's blood that's how it gets its name

[01:52:54] [SPEAKER_00]: it actually like comes out of him the nano particles come out of him to create the suit

[01:53:01] [SPEAKER_00]: which is different than the way we did in the movie right we did in the movie as it being held in a

[01:53:06] [SPEAKER_00]: capsule that's on his chest but the the suit that this is based on is the one that's like stored

[01:53:12] [SPEAKER_02]: in his blood which is kind of cool but not cool if you need to do some blood panel work

[01:53:19] [SPEAKER_02]: that's true very inaccurate reading sir so i'm in uses basically he empties his book as well

[01:53:27] [SPEAKER_02]: he uses various weapons to attack missiles, check hammers, traps or pulsars he managed to blast a

[01:53:34] [SPEAKER_02]: tobacco blast of the powerstone with a nano particle shield and to briefly block

[01:53:40] [SPEAKER_02]: it's Thanos is in phanty gauntlet under his leg and hit Thanos like he and then one point at hit

[01:53:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Thanos like extremely hard and it just causes a small cut and it's just like all that for a drop of blood

[01:53:53] [SPEAKER_02]: which is just it's just this kind of existential statement about the entire movie that they throw

[01:53:58] [SPEAKER_02]: everything to have it i'm in like cut that's it yeah i'm not i'm not even using this cool gauntlet

[01:54:05] [SPEAKER_02]: you just can't hurt me no yeah exactly so despite his despite Tony's best efforts

[01:54:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Thanos is too much for him and you know now he's his the nano tech started to wear out he can't

[01:54:18] [SPEAKER_02]: him cover his face anymore which is important because he want to see you know his face when um

[01:54:24] [SPEAKER_02]: when Thanos i i'd managed to stab Thanos with a guitar and basically like Thanos um

[01:54:32] [SPEAKER_02]: disarms him and stabs in the stomach with the very dagger that sarco's trying to stab with so

[01:54:37] [SPEAKER_02]: which is why you got to have the mask off you gotta see Tony believe to death uh what is

[01:54:43] [SPEAKER_00]: interesting here is this fight is actually a reverse it's reverse story beats from Ironman solo

[01:54:50] [SPEAKER_00]: movies uh so at the beginning he uses a rocket powered fist to punch Thanos as same way that he uses

[01:55:00] [SPEAKER_00]: a rocket powered fist to punch Hulk yeah no all drich Killian oh okay in in Ironman oh Ironman yeah

[01:55:08] [SPEAKER_00]: sorry and then then we get to the story beat of he made a god bleed right he made Thanos bleed that's

[01:55:16] [SPEAKER_00]: pulled from Ironman too where uh let's let's get my best uh make you rock on do it do it you make

[01:55:26] [SPEAKER_00]: god the bleed and the people will know he can bleed i need birds oh my god what is my board where

[01:55:33] [SPEAKER_00]: is my god and then at the very end of the fight right uh Thanos is leaning over Tony you know

[01:55:41] [SPEAKER_00]: very similar framing to the way that obadaya stain lewd leans over Tony when he's taking the

[01:55:49] [SPEAKER_00]: arch reactor out of his chest uh in the in the in the starx mansion and so this is like i say in reverse

[01:55:56] [SPEAKER_00]: order we're now seeing kind of almost the the undoing of Ironman here as he's being defeated yeah

[01:56:03] [SPEAKER_02]: then at that point in time Thanos he's got he's firing up the gaulet all five infinity stones

[01:56:08] [SPEAKER_02]: he's right in relation to Tony and just then strange stops him and then offer Thanos the time stone

[01:56:14] [SPEAKER_02]: the one thing he said he would not do early in the movie in exchange for Tony's life and Peter

[01:56:19] [SPEAKER_02]: arrives and shoot the Thanos who just disappears he just like kind of like falls back where into a portal

[01:56:25] [SPEAKER_02]: and Peter's like where is he? Do we just do we just lose and Tony says why did you do that

[01:56:34] [SPEAKER_02]: and at first on rewatch I was like yeah Peter why did you do that you screwed things up and then

[01:56:38] [SPEAKER_00]: talk to the strange like we're in the end game now so back on Wakanda the fight continues

[01:56:45] [SPEAKER_00]: the black order or all dead Thanos's army is for the most part defeated so we're gonna win right

[01:56:53] [SPEAKER_00]: everybody's starting to retreat but then Thanos arrives he has five of the six infinity stones

[01:56:58] [SPEAKER_00]: and is basically invincible the Avengers throw themselves at an in an effort to slow him down

[01:57:05] [SPEAKER_00]: well Wanda finally agrees that she can use her powers to destroy the mind stone

[01:57:11] [SPEAKER_00]: dramatic music plays and look Wanda is emotional she tries to destroy the mind stone with one hand

[01:57:19] [SPEAKER_00]: and full hold Thanos at bay with the other vision of shares her that he could never hurt

[01:57:26] [SPEAKER_00]: that Thanos could never hurt him and that he loves he loves Wanda

[01:57:34] [SPEAKER_00]: she finally succeeds in destroying the mind stone but vision is killed in the process so much

[01:57:40] [SPEAKER_00]: for Bruce's theory that the good parts of vision would still be left behind I mean it was just a

[01:57:45] [SPEAKER_02]: theory right like he didn't account for his head blowing up yeah what was yeah it doesn't even

[01:57:52] [SPEAKER_02]: repeat that great line like I just feel you yeah just feeling yeah killing me by destroying the

[01:58:00] [SPEAKER_00]: stone but Thanos has the time stone so he basically just is like nope just reminds it all

[01:58:09] [SPEAKER_00]: brushes Wanda side removes the mind stone by pinching himself pulling it out of visions head

[01:58:16] [SPEAKER_00]: vision drops his colorless body drops the ground he's dead again Thanos adds the final infinity

[01:58:24] [SPEAKER_00]: stone to the gauntlet and launches a million memes in the process as Thanos is admiring his

[01:58:32] [SPEAKER_00]: accomplishment Thor arrives and blasts the mad titan with lightning before her learning stormbreaker

[01:58:39] [SPEAKER_00]: at Thanos Thanos tries a beam of power to stop Thor and break your stormbreaker but the blade

[01:58:49] [SPEAKER_00]: slams full on into his chest Thor reminds Thanos of his prior vow of vengeance for killing

[01:58:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Loki, Hymdall and the rest of the asgardians as he pushes the axe deeper and deeper into Thanos's

[01:59:07] [SPEAKER_00]: chest Thanos is alive but injured any weekly whispers you should have gone for the head

[01:59:15] [SPEAKER_00]: he then raises his gauntlet clear hand and performs the snap Thanos finds himself in an

[01:59:26] [SPEAKER_00]: ethereal area with a reddish guy looks to be maybe the ashthe ancestral plane or the ashtral plane

[01:59:33] [SPEAKER_00]: my theory is its soul world inside the soul gem the infinity gauntlet is just that he was wearing

[01:59:42] [SPEAKER_00]: his gone he turns to see the same temple from earlier in the movie and we have a young Gamora in there

[01:59:52] [SPEAKER_00]: she says did you do it Thanos says yes young Gamora says what did it cost Thanos says

[02:00:05] [SPEAKER_02]: everything and she's tearful because she knows what's going to happen to her here in the future

[02:00:09] [SPEAKER_00]: or I mean yes right I go become a soka

[02:00:15] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah I'm a soka

[02:00:17] [SPEAKER_00]: uh I'm sorry back in the real world of Wakanda the gauntlet is heavily damaged and Thor asks what did you do

[02:00:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Thanos's Thanos doesn't answer he simply activates the stones in retreats thoring cap look around

[02:00:33] [SPEAKER_00]: themselves to figure out what the snap did the answer is it kills half of all life in the

[02:00:39] [SPEAKER_00]: universe and there are no more mosquitoes and movie over um no I'm just kidding uh they watch

[02:00:46] [SPEAKER_00]: as their friends turn to dust first the winter soldier then the Wakandan troops

[02:00:53] [SPEAKER_00]: then the guy who has an announced sequel to chala then the other guy who has an announced sequel

[02:01:01] [SPEAKER_02]: then Wanda then Falcon I don't appreciate your cynicism here by just wow James can

[02:01:09] [SPEAKER_02]: James can reveal that um Gruetz final end rock it was dad in Gruetz language oh yeah

[02:01:17] [SPEAKER_00]: cynicism aside this is a gut punch of a scene like it it's still emotional even to this day like

[02:01:23] [SPEAKER_00]: even though I know what's gonna happen it's still still got me yeah the um there was a lot of

[02:01:29] [SPEAKER_02]: discussion is to which characters would be snapped in which would not um they debated like keeping

[02:01:37] [SPEAKER_02]: black Panther because he's very popular and he just you know was in the last movie and they snapped

[02:01:43] [SPEAKER_02]: him out and so this very kind of like if you think about almost Thanos like we're just we're going

[02:01:49] [SPEAKER_02]: to be you know objective about it we're not going to keep like the favorite characters and so

[02:01:55] [SPEAKER_02]: maybe we'll survive you know um black Panther does not you know some yeah so we move over to

[02:02:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Titan um Nebula and Tony Watch as Mantis who senses that something's happening she gets

[02:02:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Drax's dusted quill is dusted which you know do we cheer for a dusting maybe

[02:02:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Dr. Strange says Tony there was no other way just before he turns into dust

[02:02:27] [SPEAKER_00]: but the last one and this one oh man this one is like made me cry watching it

[02:02:34] [SPEAKER_00]: 16-year-old high school student Peter Parker who was literally on his bus on the way to

[02:02:42] [SPEAKER_00]: a field trip beginning of this movie uh Stagger's into Tony's arms um as his spider sense is

[02:02:49] [SPEAKER_00]: allowing him to know what's happening so rather than any sort of piece or any sort of surprise or

[02:02:57] [SPEAKER_00]: anything else that anybody else who's dusted like Peter knows what's happening to him and so it's

[02:03:05] [SPEAKER_00]: fear it's uh terror right um and he says Mr. Stark I don't feel so good and I feel so good

[02:03:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't I don't know what's happening like don't want to go I don't want to go sir please

[02:03:18] [SPEAKER_00]: please don't I don't want to go I'm sorry and then he turns to dust he got a dusted that look where

[02:03:26] [SPEAKER_02]: he like like he's laying on the ground he kind of leans and looks towards Tony and he says

[02:03:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry it's like oh man so Stark and Nebula are the only people left behind on Titan

[02:03:39] [SPEAKER_00]: they realize that he achieved uh his goal of universal genocide

[02:03:46] [SPEAKER_00]: leaving Iron Man stranded on Titan with his heavily damaged armor but uh with no one but Nebula

[02:03:52] [SPEAKER_00]: on Earth remaining Avengers stand around looking days and confused Steve collapses to the ground

[02:04:00] [SPEAKER_00]: and looks at the ashy horror around him and realizes what happened Thanos has won Thanos is

[02:04:09] [SPEAKER_00]: back on a faraway planet um his garden if you his garden planet he limps to the doorway of his

[02:04:16] [SPEAKER_00]: hut and watches the sunset and you can see his armor is actually hung up as a as a scarecrow for

[02:04:23] [SPEAKER_00]: his garden um and he exudes a sense of relief as his life's work is complete he's content with

[02:04:31] [SPEAKER_00]: the knowledge that he was the only one in the universe with the will to do what is necessary

[02:04:40] [SPEAKER_00]: and the end of our movie yeah I I remember you guys make this joke most episodes

[02:04:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I remember two things about the end of this movie one is the absolute silence in the

[02:04:56] [SPEAKER_00]: theater right just like usually with when then seeing it with with the comic book folks there's you

[02:05:05] [SPEAKER_00]: know there's a reverence for the vactor out of movie theater and there's usually quiet but

[02:05:09] [SPEAKER_00]: the the score cuts out in that moment and you're just kind of hearing the sounds of the dust

[02:05:16] [SPEAKER_00]: in the wind right and I still remember just that absolute just like

[02:05:22] [SPEAKER_00]: deafening silence in the theater um maybe some sniffles from from you yeah maybe um I also remember

[02:05:31] [SPEAKER_00]: being I do remember being a rationally angry about the fact that they chose to dust

[02:05:36] [SPEAKER_00]: like like d23 for for this time frame was like right before this movie came out or there was

[02:05:43] [SPEAKER_00]: maybe a San Diego Comic-Connor something where they announced their next movies and it was like

[02:05:49] [SPEAKER_00]: spider man like spider man too and black Panther two and Guardians three were all on that slate

[02:05:58] [SPEAKER_00]: and you just dusted a bunch of them basically gutting any sense of like stakes to that dusting

[02:06:06] [SPEAKER_00]: that that did like legitimately that's something that in that moment I was just like why like

[02:06:12] [SPEAKER_00]: we all know that they're gonna come back and I remember spending the next year speculating on how

[02:06:16] [SPEAKER_00]: they were gonna bring them back but like did you have to couldn't you have killed all the

[02:06:21] [SPEAKER_00]: people who we didn't know what their faiths were didn't know they were gonna have more movies

[02:06:25] [SPEAKER_04]: just seventeen hawk guys exactly one after another yeah the um one of the things you know we

[02:06:34] [SPEAKER_02]: talk about like half the people half the universe being snapped in an interview for Good Morning

[02:06:41] [SPEAKER_02]: America mark ruffle axly spoiled that quote everybody dies and then awkwardly corrects well

[02:06:48] [SPEAKER_02]: that not everyone and Don Chiegel is like looking at him when he wrote what are you doing like

[02:06:54] [SPEAKER_02]: I there's a I it's a minute to 15 I watched the whole clip and it's like no wonder they don't

[02:06:59] [SPEAKER_00]: give you guys the scripts anymore so what were our takeaways right so so we talked a little bit

[02:07:10] [SPEAKER_00]: about this in the pre show but what did this movie do for the MCU right what what were our main

[02:07:18] [SPEAKER_00]: takeaways um David let's kick it over to you first what do you think um I did it like they it's

[02:07:30] [SPEAKER_02]: it's imagine I know I I use the expression like a magic act earlier before where they they're

[02:07:35] [SPEAKER_02]: setting up this that you had this kind of almost ludicrous press ludicrous um I can speak

[02:07:45] [SPEAKER_02]: premise the basically like we're gonna create we've created this world we spent 10 years doing it

[02:07:51] [SPEAKER_02]: we were going to get rid of half of it in this arc along this comic line if you will we're going

[02:07:56] [SPEAKER_02]: to set it up it will be emotionally impactful and you know we're building towards of uh endgame

[02:08:04] [SPEAKER_02]: which we'll talk about a couple months um and they did it and it didn't it was it was the movie is

[02:08:11] [SPEAKER_02]: fantastic with the exception that one stupid line um it's a bucks me uh it it culminated years and

[02:08:20] [SPEAKER_02]: years of work I imagine them it's like building a house and they get step back and we did it

[02:08:24] [SPEAKER_02]: it took a long time we placed Easter eggs along the way we built up all these characters we introduced

[02:08:29] [SPEAKER_02]: new characters we you know it did a fantastic job of like hinting at this super bad you know evil

[02:08:39] [SPEAKER_02]: character that we finally see and we finally understand is rationale and and to to have a you know

[02:08:49] [SPEAKER_02]: one of the few major I'm struggling a little bit to think right now like certainly one of the only

[02:08:55] [SPEAKER_02]: villains that's entirely CGI that's entirely motion-capping voice and yeah he's is a real character

[02:09:03] [SPEAKER_02]: you're not watching it like the you know angley hulk you're like how good this looks awful like

[02:09:07] [SPEAKER_02]: the whole time you're you're not distracted by yeah I don't know I just I could go on and on but it's

[02:09:12] [SPEAKER_02]: it is it's an amazing film one of my very favorites um it it never does to point it's every time

[02:09:19] [SPEAKER_02]: it's on I get drawn in um yeah so so you're putting it in the bottom third I'm putting it um I'm trying

[02:09:26] [SPEAKER_02]: it's either above sword dark world or below I can't quite I need to receive sword dark world

[02:09:35] [SPEAKER_02]: to just to I'm kidding no that's great it's great you know they they they pulled it off they did it

[02:09:41] [SPEAKER_02]: it's it's I kind of describe it like an ocean's 11 high film like you know how it's gonna end up

[02:09:47] [SPEAKER_02]: you know it succeeds but still the game plan works and the game plan is getting to the end

[02:09:51] [SPEAKER_02]: point of this film where everything seems lost and in complete discipline you know despair

[02:09:58] [SPEAKER_00]: so yeah I think I would agree and I think it indelibly changed like

[02:10:06] [SPEAKER_00]: we would not have the modern cinema market that we have today without this movie

[02:10:13] [SPEAKER_00]: where everything is a franchise every which for better or for work it's gonna be good about yeah

[02:10:20] [SPEAKER_00]: but but everything is a deep is is a deeply built world that we see it boron out on screen

[02:10:29] [SPEAKER_00]: whether it's you know rings of power that's Lord of the Rings version of this or

[02:10:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Star Wars and its deep universe and and Disney's acceptance of Star Wars as a deep universe

[02:10:42] [SPEAKER_00]: and and kind of diving into that I think that the the 10 years of the MCU and the 10 years

[02:10:51] [SPEAKER_00]: of success that they had that culminated in this movie made it so that we have the the the

[02:10:58] [SPEAKER_00]: movie outlook that we have today I don't think it it overstates it to say that it changed

[02:11:06] [SPEAKER_00]: major motion pictures like major motion pictures before 2008 which you know when Ironman came out

[02:11:16] [SPEAKER_00]: it they were you know your action films your your mission impossible that's sort of thing

[02:11:25] [SPEAKER_00]: 2008 changed it to superheroes 2018 changed it like solidified the idea of a universe

[02:11:35] [SPEAKER_00]: and of a cinematic universe again for better or for worse I know that that's a debate we could

[02:11:41] [SPEAKER_00]: probably rage on for a whole episode in and of itself but ultimately this made it happen this did the

[02:11:50] [SPEAKER_04]: thing he will have out you what you got well you you two already stated it very well I mean when it

[02:12:00] [SPEAKER_04]: comes to a fully CGI main character like Thanos he looks fantastic so many of these close ups

[02:12:10] [SPEAKER_04]: his his faces emotive it's it's flexible you like you you see texture on him and this is

[02:12:21] [SPEAKER_04]: this is years ago and he looks just tremendously great you know say what you will about some

[02:12:31] [SPEAKER_04]: of the other previous efforts at that CGI characters you mentioned Hulk where you know it's kind

[02:12:35] [SPEAKER_04]: of hit or miss sometimes grandmaf Tarkin in Rogue One brilliant but but yet Thanos is he just

[02:12:45] [SPEAKER_04]: looks he looks like he looks better than they could have pulled off with practical effects

[02:12:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Josh Brolin in a mask would not have looked like this he couldn't have been as massive he couldn't

[02:12:57] [SPEAKER_04]: have had the same range of motion and expression as this CGI character and yeah the the entire

[02:13:05] [SPEAKER_04]: movie industry has changed as a result of this and you know it's a little bit of a

[02:13:13] [SPEAKER_04]: I guess it's kind of a shame that after after endgame audiences said well we did it we watched all the

[02:13:21] [SPEAKER_04]: marvel yeah but you know I'm jumping way ahead here but I kind of look at the current phase of

[02:13:35] [SPEAKER_04]: it'll get huge again yeah probably not the same amount of huge though no no I mean I wish I could believe

[02:13:42] [SPEAKER_00]: that that doomsday is going to be anything similar to this and but yeah that I don't know yeah there's

[02:13:50] [SPEAKER_04]: not the same sense of build now we're just you know it's it's it's retracted in a way that is

[02:13:57] [SPEAKER_04]: understandable no matter what they do they can't I don't think you can capture lightning in that

[02:14:04] [SPEAKER_02]: that same bottle no there's um i kind of equate it to as a basketball fan and as a barrier

[02:14:14] [SPEAKER_02]: resident i'm a big fan of the warriors and and you've we've enjoyed this like supreme arc of

[02:14:21] [SPEAKER_02]: greatness from the team and we will get to a point where things will be lean and maybe we'll

[02:14:27] [SPEAKER_02]: come back up it will never be the same but that's okay and I think that's for a lot of fans you

[02:14:33] [SPEAKER_02]: kind of have to enjoy the phase three which is the best phase not to spoil things but like

[02:14:39] [SPEAKER_02]: and these films like we've all been spoiled but we have to be able to like I don't know maybe

[02:14:45] [SPEAKER_02]: adjust our perspective a little bit and appreciate it proud great it was and then

[02:14:50] [SPEAKER_02]: not try to hold up everything to the same set of standards because it's it's never going to be

[02:16:59] [SPEAKER_04]: heroes can't win unless strange sacrifices as well and he he gets things rolling he knows that

[02:17:06] [SPEAKER_04]: it's gonna get real bad and the only thing that he can do is give one message of hope and then

[02:17:15] [SPEAKER_04]: kind of crosses fingers that Tony actually believes at which spoiler he does not for long time sure

[02:17:22] [SPEAKER_04]: but but he yet at least gives him that that nudge that says there might be a way that we could do this

[02:17:30] [SPEAKER_04]: but not now you're not gonna like you're not gonna like it and he doesn't even say that part

[02:17:35] [SPEAKER_04]: but he knows that they're going to fail no matter what every future that he's looked at

[02:17:41] [SPEAKER_04]: they're gonna fail before they get they get through it and he's willing to make that sacrifice he's

[02:17:47] [SPEAKER_04]: willing to make that choice even though it's unpopular no one no one wants this to happen

[02:17:55] [SPEAKER_04]: but he kind of forces it because that's sometimes what you got to do 100% 100% yeah and I was

[02:18:03] [SPEAKER_00]: gonna give a shout out to Benedict Cumberbatch there was a lot of close-ins on his hands and I was

[02:18:08] [SPEAKER_00]: thinking about this as you mentioned the like message of one right Benedict Cumberbatch does the

[02:18:15] [SPEAKER_00]: the shaky hands which total call back to the character right the character has the shaky hands from

[02:18:22] [SPEAKER_00]: the accident and he maintained that so well throughout this movie it's such a little detail but

[02:18:28] [SPEAKER_04]: I love the makeup on his hands where they you can see the incisions going all the way down each finger

[02:18:36] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah you can imagine when like tracks and so it's about on your taste out there's

[02:18:45] [SPEAKER_02]: there they're in like the chair for hours hours hours to like put on the makeup and he's like

[02:19:44] [SPEAKER_00]: but I really do think just we've talked about it already so much just how a motive that

[02:19:51] [SPEAKER_00]: character ended up being from an acting lens from a story beat lens he was he was the most

[02:20:00] [SPEAKER_00]: sympathetic villain we've had like in and especially faced with a real like a very real world

[02:20:07] [SPEAKER_00]: problem of like finite resources and infinite and seemingly infinite demand on those resources

[02:20:20] [SPEAKER_00]: it's I'm not a Thanos is right type of person but like this was one of the most compelling

[02:20:32] [SPEAKER_00]: villains compelling characters to date in the MCU where he just he was so convicted and so

[02:20:44] [SPEAKER_00]: set on what he was gonna do it was just so it's almost indescribable I I'm struggling

[02:20:54] [SPEAKER_00]: for words for it but it was just so good and so so well done so well done that it even crosses

[02:21:04] [SPEAKER_00]: universe lines and there's jokes about it in Deadpool um Deadpool calls Josh Brolin Thanos

[02:21:12] [SPEAKER_00]: throughout that whole movie but um it is it is uh Josh Brolin's third attempt at being a

[02:21:21] [SPEAKER_00]: comic book character between Jonah Hacks yeah cable and now Thanos and I think his bet it's his

[02:21:35] [SPEAKER_00]: best run out there at a comic book character and so good I think yeah you have to I think you have to

[02:21:42] [SPEAKER_02]: the impact that Thanos had not just in this movie but like I mean not just becoming a meme

[02:21:49] [SPEAKER_02]: but like his presence the whole time the believability the the we are we are basically introduced to him

[02:21:58] [SPEAKER_02]: in this movie we know of him but he's not he's not in the forefront of any other movie um and then

[02:22:04] [SPEAKER_02]: just the impact so fans created a website did Thanos kill me. Did Thanos kill? Dot me which is

[02:22:16] [SPEAKER_02]: created a red a red a subreddit called Thanos did nothing wrong and a user within that subreddit

[02:22:24] [SPEAKER_02]: groups suggests that half of the approximately 20,000 subscribers at that time be banned from the

[02:22:31] [SPEAKER_02]: reddit to minimically events of the film and so they contacted reddit administrators to see if

[02:22:38] [SPEAKER_02]: it would if they could do it and so it was set to occur in July 9, 2018 and notice the impending

[02:22:45] [SPEAKER_02]: band made this subscriber base increased over 700,000 including both of the rusos who subscribed

[02:22:52] [SPEAKER_02]: and ahead of the band Josh Roland posted a video saying here we go Reddit Uniors users and

[02:22:56] [SPEAKER_02]: ended it with a snap and then at that moment over 60,000 people watched live twitch screen

[02:23:02] [SPEAKER_02]: of the banner curing which lasted several hours and the band of over 300,000 accounts which included

[02:23:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Anthony Russo was the largest in reddit history. Wow and then they banned and the those

[02:23:14] [SPEAKER_02]: were banned then gathered in a new subreddit called um in the soulstone and the one right user

[02:23:23] [SPEAKER_02]: participated described the band is inviting quote the spirit of the internet with people quote

[02:23:27] [SPEAKER_02]: banning together in mass and around something relatively meaningless but somehow decidedly

[02:23:31] [SPEAKER_02]: awesome and hilarious and I think that kind of sums up the movie and just like the experience

[02:23:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Thanos is a great choice like it's so good. I'm looking at people at characters I've

[02:23:46] [SPEAKER_02]: drafted before and are did drafted strange? Are did drafted? I did not. I did not. This is not the

[02:23:58] [SPEAKER_02]: LVP this is the most popular. I'm gonna choose Gamora. I'm gonna choose Gamora because and

[02:24:04] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm cheating a little bit because they get both young Gamora and grown up at Gamora but hers was the

[02:24:13] [SPEAKER_02]: the main character to play off of Thanos the entire movie like we see through

[02:24:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Zoey's that on who did a fantastic job in her role her conveying like

[02:24:25] [SPEAKER_02]: just so many emotions fear anger she she is like the the ultimate sacrifice fourth

[02:24:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Thanos in the movie to obtain the soulstone she is um she's a badass she fights Thanos

[02:24:40] [SPEAKER_02]: she's fearless she is like you know early on in the film when things are kind of lighthearted

[02:24:47] [SPEAKER_02]: and she's touching Thor's muscles and she's talking they're like jittery cables and so she has all these

[02:24:52] [SPEAKER_02]: different kind of like beats to her character um she is in the movie the second most behind Thanos

[02:24:58] [SPEAKER_02]: I you know and I think that it was um really important like Yin and Yang when you speak

[02:25:06] [SPEAKER_02]: of the balance if you well she is the opposite end of the switchblade to the Thanos if you

[02:25:10] [SPEAKER_00]: well so she's great. Yeah well that that is super fair yeah and I think very strong picks like so

[02:34:42] [SPEAKER_00]: distress call only to find himself decisioner grading and he says oh no mother fuck and he's he fades away

[02:34:54] [SPEAKER_00]: his distress call however makes it through to its intended recipient and we see on the screen of this

[02:35:00] [SPEAKER_00]: pager captain marvels logo up here and we get the title card Thanos will return um so yeah

[02:35:56] [SPEAKER_04]: I think it was a great little setup it was nice to get fury and Hill in there for a moment another one

[02:36:11] [SPEAKER_00]: and yeah it was great yeah the one thing that doesn't make sense to me about this is the timeline

[02:36:18] [SPEAKER_00]: of this scene because they're driving along Maria Hill gets an alert and it says there's three

[02:36:25] [SPEAKER_00]: bogeys over Wakanda and then immediately following that the advance verbs in front of them so

[02:36:33] [SPEAKER_00]: either shields like Intel is very very slow moving off by a half an hour or we messed up timing

[02:36:43] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think so it's interesting mentioned the timing thing this the events take place over

[02:36:49] [SPEAKER_02]: like two days it's not like months and months and months so it's not it's not it's not I'd have to look

[02:36:57] [SPEAKER_02]: at the the end credits scene again but when I viewed it like obviously Stark has been missing for like a

[02:37:03] [SPEAKER_02]: minute and the reports about Wakanda you know she could have gotten like five to him minutes ago

[02:37:10] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't that part didn't really throw me off uh had to watch it again though because it's an

[02:37:16] [SPEAKER_02]: interesting comment um I just I remember watching the movie and this was you know you're trained

[02:37:23] [SPEAKER_02]: at this point time to sit through the credits because you're gonna see something good I mean

[02:37:27] [SPEAKER_02]: in addition to honoring the people that made the movie but in memorizing all of their names

[02:37:31] [SPEAKER_02]: and getting getting the digital effects and it's like hundreds of names right the

[02:37:39] [SPEAKER_02]: but I just remember feeling like kind of hopeless like you're watching and you're like looking for

[02:37:45] [SPEAKER_02]: some good news and you know usually the credit scenes it could be fun they could be funny or upbeat

[02:37:51] [SPEAKER_02]: they could you know previewing the next movie and you get to the end and you're like crap there's

[02:37:58] [SPEAKER_02]: nothing and then they give you the little sting at the very end and you get just a glimmer of hope
