[00:00:00] Hey everyone, right here. Just want to jump in right before this episode. You're going to hear some new theme songs this week. They're pretty awesome and I wanted to go to the quick thank you to J.R. Trump for those. If you're in need of any sort of music or marching bandruler or anything like that, you can head over to TRIMP.org. That's TRIMP.org and J.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R

[00:00:30] Won't mistake appetite for apathy. Alright everybody. Welcome to PUNY POD. The podcast where we rewatch the MCU in release order and cover all things marvell. I'm Ryan and my co-host who isn't King is David.

[00:01:13] Right, how you doing? Good. All good. I'm doing fantastic. Good to see you this weekend, buddy. And today we have a special guest with us if you listen to our secret spoilers show we talked about a

[00:01:24] different guests. Unfortunately we had some scheduling conflicts with Ryan from beyond the or from across the bike by frost he will be back in a future episode. But stepping in for us today

[00:01:38] are good friend Rob from Banthe Mill. Okay, Rob how's it going today? Good. How are you guys? We're fantastic. We're fantastic. So Rob, I'm guessing a lot of our listeners probably have heard

[00:01:51] your show before if I genuinely had to guess because I think we share a lot of listeners. But for those who haven't, tell us a little bit about yourself and your podcast. We are, I'm part of

[00:02:03] one half of Banthe Mill podcast and we are the other part of the Disney world that got bought up. We're all about Star Wars. So if you're into Star Wars as much as you're into Marvel, come check

[00:02:18] us out as well. We have been doing breakdowns recently of all the Mandalorian stuff and that's actually how we started by doing season one of the Mandalorian. So we've been breaking down all the movies, shows, anything that's been coming out, news, fun stuff, whatever. Had some special guests

[00:02:36] on sometimes Ryan over here has even guest hosted for an iPad. So it's in a real I think when Nick Michael host is wife had a baby and Ryan was like, I've been through that so I'll come help you out.

[00:02:51] Appreciate that very much. So yeah, so that's us to check us out Banthe Mill podcast buddy. Yeah awesome. Awesome. Awesome. Tell us Rob. So we're having you here on a Marvel podcast and I know

[00:03:05] Marvel is now doing the Star Wars comics but before that what was your experience in life with Marvel, bit like where did you get your start or your comic fan or your just a movie fan?

[00:03:21] So I'm just a movie fan. Never read comics of any sort as a kid growing up. I don't know why because I think they're really cool. I've read a few since I've been older but still

[00:03:34] whatever. So when they started with the movies, the Marvel movies that was my first introduction to them. I'm sure there were some Marvel cartoons that they made on television when I was a kid and

[00:03:46] probably saw handful of the old school Marvel cartoons. I do remember playing X-Men video game in the arcade. Yeah, that was a lot of fun. I worked at a mall and my friend worked in the arcade. So we would

[00:04:02] exchange gifts to each other. He would come down to my store and get food for free and I would go to the arcade and give him the end of the folders and just hackin away there at the X-Men video game.

[00:04:15] That was a lot of fun. But I was introduced with the actually I take that back. Thor was in a really, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, called a bad movie. It was fun for the time.

[00:04:27] Adventures in baby sitting. Do you remember the original adventures in be sitting movie? The wild girl there loved Thor and so that was my first introduction of Thor. So when you said

[00:04:37] you needed some help with Thor. I was like, I'm in. I don't think that's a tie that it was going to come up any other way other than you being here. So I appreciate it. But you're welcome.

[00:04:50] Awesome. Well, before we get into our episode, I just want to get one of our first plugs out here. Podcasts grow best by word of mouth. So right now, the biggest thing we're asking for from folks is

[00:05:03] just tell people, right? Tell people about puny pod, tell people about fan-themilic. Tell people about your favorite podcast so that you can get, so we can get some more listeners. We always love

[00:05:14] to have more people hangin out with us. As we have mentioned in the last couple episodes and if you listen to our most recent episode on the main feed, you may have noticed we split out the news. So

[00:05:28] this is typically where our marble news segment would go. But if you're looking for that kind of content, look for our monthly bugle episodes. Those will contain all the news for the month. We're

[00:05:40] going to have one of those coming out here in a couple weeks. We had one come out a couple weeks ago. So check those out for all the news. One quick news note on the podcast, we do have

[00:05:54] we do have stickers. So if you want a sticker, let us know and we'll get some shipped out to you and actually that reminds me, we ran a contest on our Facebook page earlier this month

[00:06:14] and we promised we would read some comments off live here on the podcast. So right now the news cycle, at least in the rumor side of the news cycle, that everything seems to be

[00:06:31] somebody's rumored to be returning in secret wars. Whether it's a return of a character that has since passed in the MCU or somebody who was cast, somebody like Ian McKellen returning

[00:06:52] as Magneto or something like that. So we put it out to our listeners to give us some of the best versions of their predictions. We got a couple predictions here from Curtis who we had on our

[00:07:10] last main show. He thinks that Colin Farrell is going to be back as bullsye from David's favorite of the Marvel movies Daredevil. It's a bad movie. It's really bad movie. It's it's truly he also predicted bird ward coming in as Robin so we get some sweet multiverse action.

[00:07:40] It's in bird ward like 70 at this point. I think so, I think so. Eric from the Supreme Resort as well as about a dozen other podcasts. He predicted that name wars package will return.

[00:08:02] Let's see here. And then David gave us a couple of ideas. So David gave us that we will have a multiverse of Daredevil's. So Charlie Cox and Ben Affleck will get together

[00:08:26] plus Rex Smith from the trial of incredible Hulk back in 89. There was a I completely missed out. Our watching credible Hulk when I was a kid and enjoyed the TV show, but I completely blanked

[00:08:44] or blocked out perhaps as more appropriately stated that they made a few Hulk TV movies. Hmm. One of them featured Daredevil as his who makes a guest appearance and one actually has

[00:08:59] thorn it. So, you know, I have no ideas to the quality of the movie, but we get the four multiverse. We have to grab that actor as well. That'd be fantastic. And then over from our Instagram

[00:09:13] we have a couple more entries here. So Dr. Ransom over on Instagram predicted that Mofisto will be in Seagre Wars because you know, it was Mofisto all along. I think Mofisto is the stock

[00:09:28] prediction at this point. I predict that Dr. Ransom will be in it. And then the deadly Kung Fu pod which I didn't see this one come in. Thank you guys for listening. Looks like it is a

[00:09:47] Marvel Comics podcast around Shang-G and Iron Fist. They're calling the shot again for Tom Cruise as Iron Man and a return of Terrence Howard as War Machine from Earth 15 535. I see one of those as potentially happening. Tom Cruise I think was actually rumored to have been

[00:10:13] in the Dr. Strange, but Terrence Howard is not getting a sniff at the MCU. That's not a problem. Okay, what's more likely? Terrence Howard or Mickey Rork? Ooh, that's a Sophie's choice. I guess I would say maybe Terrence Howard by the

[00:10:44] Smidge. That's fair. He didn't trap in his fairness. He didn't trash talk the MCU. Like he didn't go away from it and other than disputing the pay thing or whatever. He didn't get quite as

[00:10:56] wild as Mickey Rork did. Yeah, it's an interesting, yeah, it'd be an interesting recasting if if father was made it. Again, I still kind of like I would love to see what Disney plus has

[00:11:11] done, which they should do is host the videos where the actors are trying out auditioning for the roles. I would love to see Tom Cruise 10 minutes, five minutes. That's totally starting to

[00:11:26] start if you fantastic. And then bring it in as a talk show and have them defend why they should have been in the show or... All right, well let's get on with our breakdown here. So as a reminder

[00:11:41] for everybody, we are going to try and stay away from spoilers. Don't want to get into spoilers for future MCU projects here in the main show as a word of caution on our new show. We absolutely

[00:11:56] are spoilery. It's a lot easier to talk about the news if you can talk about spoilers. But here we are going to avoid spoiling anything that didn't happen in Iron Man, Iron Man 2

[00:12:08] or the incredible Hulk. So we'll only talk about the four movies in the MCU so far as far as our rewatch goes. So with that being said, I'm going to pass it over to David

[00:12:19] to go over our production details. So behind the scenes, so Thor was released, May 6, 2011 and almost one year to the day after Iron Man 2, as you noted, it is the fourth installment phase one of the MCU.

[00:12:34] It was directed by Kenneth Brana. I'm sorry, sir, Kenneth Brana, who directed Henry the fifth and much to do about nothing. The screenplay was written by us. You missed a credit for Kenneth Brana.

[00:12:46] Which one? Oh, you'll do a lot of cards from the Harry Potter series. That's where I know him best from. There's a ton to be noted that he was been nominated for seven Academy Awards. So he

[00:13:01] is a fairly long list and as an aside, probably if we were to look in rank all the directors in the MCU near the very top in terms of quality director. That's fair. Screenplay, Ashlyn Miller

[00:13:14] and Zach Stens who wrote X-Men First Class which actually wasn't a bad X-Men movie. Don Payne who worked on the Simpsons and fantastic four rises silver surfer and Thor Dark World. We're not great. Spoiler alert for Thor Dark World. The cast, it's almost a brand new cast.

[00:13:33] We have Chris Hemsworth this four, Natalie Parkman, as Jane Foster, Tom Hiddleston in the role of Loki, Anthony Hopkins, as Odin, Idris Elba, as Hindahl, Stelman Scar's guard, as Eric Selvik, Kat Dennings, as Darcy Lewis, Agent Colson returns, Clark Greg and then Colm Fiora's King

[00:13:54] Laufie, Ray Stevenson, as Volstag, Tatna O'Zano, as Hogan, Josh Dallas's Foundral and Jamie Alexander Siff and we see Renee Russo as Frigot in her first role in about five years. We talk about the

[00:14:10] casting. We've mentioned a lot how one thing that the MCU has done really well has nailed the casting and I said I was going to talk a little bit just a very brief moment about Sarah Haley Finn

[00:14:21] who has collaborated with MCU and Marvel Studios on 36 films and 16 shows. She was, she been there since the very beginning. She fought for Chris Pratt to land the role of Peter Quill and observing his Kinglike performance during a prior dish of drugs and destroyer,

[00:14:39] picked Chad Boseman for the role of T'Challa. In similarly in this film, she pushed for Chris Hemsworth as Thor after he flunked his initial audition and was rejected by higher ups, but he was given a second chance reading for the part for the role. Other actors considered

[00:14:56] for Thor, Daniel Craig, who is at the time playing James Bond. Tom Hiddleston was offered the role, chanting Tatum Alexander Skarsgarb, which would be cool to have father son in the same film. Joel Kinnamen, triple H the wrestler, which I mean that would have started the wrestling

[00:15:17] interaction with the MCU way earlier on. I mean, I get he looks the role but man, he to doubt it would have been terrible and then Liam Hemsworth was one of the finalists as well. The Naliporman was as mentioned before, she was considered for the role Black Widow,

[00:15:37] both ultimately cast as Jane Foster. It's really hard to imagine anyone other than Serap Anthony Hopkins but Mel Gibson was offered the role, but turned down because it wasn't enough substance. Let's get married in on that and then Stanley claimed he always wanted to play Oden

[00:15:58] but he was happy with the acting. It's just like to pause your like Stanley, man you get the cameo's but to play Oden. Yeah that would have been. That would have changed the role of Oden entirely

[00:16:11] I think I think that would have taken it from it would have cameoized Oden which would not have worked. Yeah, we've got Stanley, triple H, this is already just going to be the worst movie ever.

[00:16:26] Loki, Loki, Charlie Cox was among the final candidates. Jim Carrier was considered as well which kind of a fine hard to believe and then the character Fandrel had a number of actors attached to it.

[00:16:41] So originally Zach is actually Levy who plays Shazam was approached for the role but had turned it down. Dominic Cooper, young Tony Stark was rumored Stuart Townsend was given the role but then backed out and finally Josh Shazam took the role. The runtime is an hour 55 minutes.

[00:16:59] Production budget was 150 million opening weekend 65 million domestic rose, 180 one million international gross, 268 million. It was the number 10 movie in 2011 for domestic gross and this was the year of movie franchises Harry Potter, Transformers, Twilight, hangover, Pirates, Fast Five, Cars, Sherlock Holmes everything was a sequel that year. So this

[00:17:25] was the highest grossing original movie. It is the number 22 movie. MCU in terms of gross just behind Atman and ahead of Shon Chi and the legend the 10 rings and it was the highest ranked comic book movie during the main through August, 2000 time period which is important because it

[00:17:48] demonstrated the profitability of this particular genre especially in light of all the movie sequels that were coming out at the time. Rotten Tomatoes, Critics Score 77%, audience 76%. So fairly fairly good scores and it is based of course on the Marvel's comic version of the Norse

[00:18:08] got it thunder. He is one of Marvel's major superhero characters since 1960s created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and first appeared in Journey into Mystery in number 83 and his series was feature regular until 125 when it's renamed The Mighty Thor. So that is your behind the scenes.

[00:18:30] Nice. It's interesting that Zachary Levi was considered at this point. This is a little bit of a spoiler. I don't think it's that crazy because Josh Dallas who played fan drill in this

[00:18:44] he had to leave to go do once upon a time for the rest of the MCU. He wasn't in the rest of the MCU and then Zachary Levi got the role in a recast which is just interesting that it could have been

[00:19:01] the same all the way through but ultimately wasn't cool. Well let's break into our our kind of telling about how we came into this movie. So talking about our first viewing of this

[00:19:19] movie I am 98% certain that I saw this movie again opening night and I've told this story a listers are probably getting inspired to hearing the same story but opening night went with some

[00:19:35] friends to go see it. I don't think that this was one that I saw with the comic book store. I think that starts in the next movie. I think that starts with Captain America.

[00:19:47] But went to go see it in the theaters really, really excited. Thor was like the second. So I talked a little bit about how my dad really introduced me to comics. He really liked

[00:20:03] Iron Man and that was like his main guy was Iron Man. So I was really excited about those movies initially and then his second guy, if you will, was Thor. So Thor was always kind of second

[00:20:18] around our house. So really excited that kind of our two main interests were the two main kind of mainstays of the MCU early on. Kind of a funny side story about Thor. My dad played D&D

[00:20:34] and he used to show me his character sheets when I was younger. He had a character named Papalu, who was named after our cat who our cat was also named after an Ewok. But Papalu

[00:20:48] could wield Mjolnir, which was always so funny to me and then when we got to see Mjolnir here, it was kind of fun. So I just envisioned a moment your cat wielding Mjolnir.

[00:21:03] I have little little confused in the story. I'm sorry. That's fair. That's fair. And actually I just realized I conflated two characters. Our cat was a monk played by one of his friends, which was Papalu. Meal Peart was the name of my dad's character named after the

[00:21:19] Rush drummer. So Neal Peart wielded Mealner, not Papalu, my dad. Come on Ryan. Let's start for actors in this podcast and you are falling down already. All right Rob, tell us what was your first time watching this like? And do you remember

[00:21:38] kind of how you felt before watching this movie? Like I said, I was only introduced to Marvel through the movies other than I knew who Thor was. So I even checked my AMC Stubbs app,

[00:21:54] which I did, does go all the way back to 2011. So I was like, I want to see when I saw this. While the app goes back to 2011, when I bought it, it doesn't tell you your movies passed

[00:22:06] the last two years. So I don't know exactly when I saw it, but I do know I could probably guarantee that it was with my son. He was a big, he still is a big Marvel fan even though it didn't

[00:22:19] read any of the comics or anything that stuff. But every time a new Marvel movie came out, he always wanted to go see it and he was young at the time. So I'm sure it was he and I. We went.

[00:22:27] We probably went opening weekend because we saw all the big movies together opening weekend. And now I don't want to say I made him, but I really want to say inspired him to get a job

[00:22:42] at the movie theater. So now we can see movies together all the time for free because he worked there with a big, even better. Parental rights. That's right. The only benefit to having kids

[00:22:53] is to get them to work at the movie theater and see movies from free. So yeah, so I'm pretty sure we saw it together. I remember liking it. I remember enjoying it. And I know you guys say,

[00:23:04] spoiler free, but when I went back this weekend to watch it, it is fun for me not being a mega Marvel fan and not knowing all the characters and everything beforehand. To go back and watch

[00:23:18] the older movies, the original like even when I rewatch Iron Man and go, oh that's guy from later on. And like in this one there's a couple of those characters again that is I'm watching and I'm going,

[00:23:30] oh wait I knew who that is because from the movies that have happened after this type of thing. So it's a fun movie. I liked it and I don't think that I've seen, I mean there's a couple

[00:23:44] Marvel movies that I've seen that I was like yeah whatever, but I did like it. It's very entertaining it was very fun. The CGI was cool even for back in the day in 2011. It looked really cool.

[00:23:55] The rainbow bridge I remember being amazed by that early on and being like wow that looks so cool. So yeah so that was my experience with it and I'm pretty sure I only saw it once

[00:24:06] until it came out on DVD or whatever it was a whole release if you will release yeah. David how about you? Similarly I remember seeing it in the theaters and looking forward to it

[00:24:23] growing up on comic books and to see the stories on the screen was just you know such a joy at the time. Thor was not my favorite comic book character. I always enjoyed it in the Avengers.

[00:24:36] I was I think a more of a group superhero team up kind of person than than in more so than individual characters but definitely look forward to it. And on rewatch I was curious to see

[00:24:48] how it held up. We've seen four Thor movies we've seen him in a number of Avengers movies and so I was just curious to see like how the characters have the original setup felt and then

[00:25:03] to rob to your point like seeing those little things which they sprinkle into later movies. What were you're all Ryan for you upon rewatch? What were you looking forward to? Yeah I was I was looking forward to going back to this because it is a undisputedly good

[00:25:23] part of the MCU. We've spent two movies so far well we're three this is our fourth movie right and Iron Man is pretty undisputedly good. Incredible Hulk and Iron Man 2 are

[00:25:42] let's call it in contest for how good they are. And Thor though is like one of those like ones that everybody points to you as like this was a good movie. Things went downhill for Thor

[00:25:54] after this but this was a good movie right and so I was really excited to get back to that I also haven't watched this one in a while mostly because and not to be too spoilory but

[00:26:12] you know this one has a lot of the heavy fantasy elements and the next the next movie does too but then after that Thor departs from and his comics did this too. He departs from a fantasy

[00:26:30] feel over to more of a sci-fi feel and gets very spacey, very outer space and that's sort of stuff which I like. I really like those stories and it's something I truly enjoy but

[00:26:43] I think there is something almost wants a pure pure might be the right word but innocent I guess is a good word but something innocent about kind of that fantasy element I think

[00:26:57] and so I was really excited to get into the fantasy side of things again. Rob did you have any other thoughts on like your feelings going into watching this movie for the other

[00:27:15] rewatch? Yeah I liked I liked the fact when you have a superhero movie you have a superhero bed guy as well. Sometimes when you have a superhero with all these amazing powers and then the bad guy is

[00:27:34] just a rich dude who just wants to take over the world I'm like wait this it doesn't seem like a balance is out to me it seems like the bad guy with all these superhero powers should easily be

[00:27:45] able to take down this average Joe type of guy so I did enjoy it rewatching it knowing that in the rewatching oh good the bad guy is also a superhero type person as well so I did enjoy that as

[00:27:58] well. So that's pretty much all I got out of the rewatch and then like I said I was very happy to see all the not cameos. I did really enjoy the Stanley cameo in this one because

[00:28:12] it was a little more than the typical just hey they're Stanley walking down the street which I felt like some of the cameos turned into just like you're just waiting to find out where he is and

[00:28:21] then that's it where this one he had a little bit bigger of a part so I did enjoy that. That's fair that is fair well with that all being said let's dive into the rewatch right so again

[00:28:36] spoiler free here but we'll go through it's our fourth episode I'll say it one last time as a reminder for folks we do not like read the script here we're gonna try and give you high levels

[00:28:49] we highly suggest that you do go and watch this movie either right before or right after listening to the episode I think that's the most rich the best experience for you here so if you know I would

[00:29:03] highly highly suggest that either you pause right now go watch the movie or go watch it after so with that being said we this movie does start with a credits roll we start with paramount pictures

[00:29:21] as the distributor and then the the Marvel studios logo of the time which was the flipping comics that then fades into Marvel so from there we do start to see the opening credits we see Jane Foster

[00:29:42] Eric Selvig and Darcy Lewis out in the new Mexico Desert in a van studying in a rural Orialis type phenomenon suddenly a big tornado slash lightning storm develops they drive towards it

[00:29:54] um they end up hitting a man inside this tornado and they stop from there we cut over to tone tone spur Norway in 956 AD Odin's voice over describes a battle for over a thousand years ago

[00:30:15] between the Yotans which are the frost giants of Yotanheim and the Asgardians asgardians win although Odin does this as I and sees the power casket and return to their realm back in Asgard

[00:30:34] we cut to about 15 20 years in the past we see Odin taking his young sons he tells them both that they are worthy but only one can be king fast forward to present times in Asgard we see asgard is

[00:30:53] having a ceremony where Odin is naming Thor Odin son the crown to be the crown prince of Asgard Thor swears he'll be a good king but before Odin can make the proclamation to make him king

[00:31:09] alarms go off Thor gets swoon sworn to be frost giants instead of king but frost giants have broken into the weapons vault which holds their power casket the largest destroyer the destroyer which is a large robot steps out kills the the

[00:31:30] intruders and saves the power casket after this down in the the vault four and wants to attack the frost giants show a strength show the strength of Asgard but Odin is calm rational and is kind of telling Thor hey you're thinking like a fighter like a warrior

[00:31:56] as Thor says as king and then Odin responds you're king yeah so that's kind of our intro that's that's kind of our our place setting if you will so seeing the paramount logo is interesting

[00:32:15] seeing a Viacom company pop up there at the bottom I think that was really interesting to me um we got I think the most like the most views of Asgard that we have in the whole

[00:32:32] series the whole MCU was in this movie and it was really cool it looked great yeah I thought that was one of the things this being the first film that it goes outside of Earth really right like everything

[00:32:46] to date Captain America will be set on Earth and so how that was gonna look was really important and on rewatch robs your point it looks it looks pretty good you see the by frost you see Asgard

[00:32:58] it looks really really well done going back to the Norway scene where we have the fight battle when I rewatch had major game of thrones white walker kind of vibes I don't know if I

[00:33:11] self-salt that when we're watching him yeah Lisa my wife actually she was like wait I didn't realize why walkers were in the MCU I was I was gonna ask you guys because you guys are you know

[00:33:25] much more knowledgeable than I am where the white walkers were the frost people in the comics before this like did game of thrones get their idea probably from reading Marvel comics or

[00:33:38] is this a whole brand new thing for Marvel as well I could be wrong but I think I think Yotin heim is actually Norse mythology I do know that the Yotins were in the Marvel comics from the very

[00:33:55] beginning I think the first appearance of a frost giant goes back to like the 60 70s so definitely old school there and like I say I think I think that's something and that's what's interesting

[00:34:10] with Thor in particular right I don't know enough about Norse mythology to do a big segment on it here and and I want to say that like I'm definitely waiting into some water I don't know the best but

[00:34:23] would sort of interesting with Thor and in Marvel is Marvel actually had to like kind of create a character of Thor but it's kind of the first character that we've seen in the MCU that's actually like pulled from older myths then the actual comics themselves so it's kind

[00:34:44] of one of those interesting mixes there. Rob to your question I'm just gonna go out and lemon I'm just gonna say that George R Martin is a huge plagiarizer that's my speculation I'm unfounded

[00:34:58] just the other question I have and we'll have to do this maybe later on as we get further into the series but Odin seems kind of like a crappy dad like you know he's basically setting up these

[00:35:12] two brothers to hate each other or to fight each other the entire way through moving themselves for dad's love that never that never went bad that never went wrong never never ever even look at

[00:35:24] you know the royalty of today and how Harry left the royalty because he almost like it's the same thing like he's the Loki of their royalty it's like yeah you're never going to be king because you're the

[00:35:39] second child and we're gonna make you do all this nonsense and whatever but yeah he totally set them up to to hate each other to battle each other to who's who's gonna be the stronger one to be king

[00:35:49] but yeah not a good dad that's fair that's fair yeah and the other thing I picked up on in this scene is so a couple other things one pin for literally our next main episode so tonsburg comes back

[00:36:08] um it is actually where we will start our next movie so it's where Captain America starts here so kind of a cool little pin and Captain America came out only a few months after this so that was

[00:36:29] very I think intentional to choose that battling. Also in the in the vault we got a lot of cool little Easter eggs here this was an Easter egg rich spot which kind of had to be right so down in

[00:36:52] the vault we see a few things so we see the Warlocks Eye which is from the comics a mystical weapon that Haroken in the comics tried to use to invade as guard and so it's a kind of

[00:37:15] cool mystical weapon sort of thing you also saw the tablet of life and time which again from the from the comics it is essentially like a recipe for a mortal life is what

[00:37:40] so it kind of gives a way to make the nolexer to make a mortal life and then probably the one that's most noticeable to Marvel fans and will will come in the most

[00:37:59] impact to most people is the infinity gauntlet so so as the Iest giants are trying to run away from the destroyer you do see an infinity gauntlet in the back looks like it is full of infinity stones too so

[00:38:15] watch out for that anything else you guys picked up in those scenes oh I guess one last thing sorry the casting of young Loki is spot on like I have not seen a young casting that good in a while

[00:38:33] yeah he was really good he nailed it I the one thing I did I thought he was he was awesome as well but the one thing you asked her other things I saw the one thing that I love I'm like a car

[00:38:47] person but the her vehicle James vehicle the truck is this thing called a unimog which is like a Mercedes and off-road vehicle it's amazing and when I saw it I was like I want that car like I want

[00:39:01] a unimog in the worst way we'll talk about this now how does Jane afford everything she has she has that unimog she has an air stream she has this big beautiful like it looks like it used to be a

[00:39:14] car dealership or something that is her lab like I get that it's it's new Mexico so maybe that lab was a little cheaper but how is a research scientist affording these things yeah she's got a lot of

[00:39:27] that unimog is expensive that's not a 1989 Ford F-150 that's a unimog that thing's expensive yeah you think she's she's drug running is what you're saying probably yes exactly yeah rapid speculation number two

[00:39:49] the whole ledger the whole ledger the whole ledger drug we all we don't see that go to the deleted scenes right anyway anyway so uh we see Thor after this we see the scene between him and

[00:40:03] Loki Thor's super bitter that he was passed over on this day it's off he flips the table flip the table just like Loki's like just egging him on like he's a Tom Hiddleston let me just pause

[00:40:17] he's so great in this movie it's every scene he's fantastic um so Thor uh Gathers Loki and his friends full stack Van Rol Hogan and Sif to travel to Yopinheim with the brilliant update like

[00:40:31] he where you get some answers like that's just we're just gonna go there and just ask a few questions they write out to the by-frost portal hide all who is interested about the gate keeper of Asgard

[00:40:42] allows him to pass but want to them that he will honor his sworn oath and will close the by-frost and leave their Asgard Luffy the house of Odin is full of traitors um they decide to walk away

[00:41:07] but Luffy had taunts Thor calls him princess which he didn't forget the reaction and a huge battle starts Loki so you know we see a large CGI battle which look I think look pretty cool and

[00:41:21] the holds up still after time uh Loki survived it was somatic and has an unusual reaction when he is touched by a frost giant save that for later or follow that away Luffy releases a huge beast

[00:41:34] and the Asgardians run for the lives Thor kills the beast flies through it's head somehow emerge is untouched there's no I was gonna say no nothing or anything yeah um once getting teams ran up by frost giant to things look desperate Odin arrives and apologize to Luffy for

[00:41:52] the intrusion attempts to reinstate peace Luffy states that they are beyond diplomacy that the frost giants are now at war with Asgard Luffy attempts to step Odin who blasts Luffy back and Odin

[00:42:03] takes the group home yeah one thing on this um so so we get a little bit of character building for a few characters here uh we see Volstag and he after Thor has flipped the table over he goes

[00:42:18] and grabs a breadboard and sets it on the now overturn legs of the table so that he can continue to eat I love Volstag like throughout this it's he's so good um also sifts like that like line where

[00:42:34] Thor is like trying to convince warriors three to go to Yotinheim with him and he's like he's installing like things that he did to help them out right here here's here's a way

[00:42:46] I made you look cool here's a way I made you look cool and it gets to sift and he's like who who convinced people that a young maiden could fight and Siff goes I did and Thor goes but I helped

[00:43:01] I stood up for you I agree with you yeah which is so good it's just so so fun and also Thor's like fight dialogues like chef's kiss just throughout the whole thing he's just

[00:43:17] dropping one liners left and right and they're so it's so fun all throughout yeah it was a fun fight scene I did enjoy it a lot um I liked how even when you thought things were bleak

[00:43:30] they were still able to they just kept fighting and they didn't seem bothered at all they're like well whatever we'll just keep going so it was fun it all of them had that had a nice air of like ego

[00:43:42] like I know I'm gonna destroy all these people it doesn't matter even in the beginning when when Loki goes we're vastly outnumbered and it was almost like he was still like egging Thor on

[00:43:53] like oh I don't know if we're gonna win this or not you're not gonna win this fight and the Thor's like we're gonna win you know like he knows all the buttons to push on Thor to get him

[00:44:02] to do whatever he wants on the do so yeah it was a fun fight scene for sure for sure so from there um so Thor gets home um everybody gets home and basically Odin is

[00:44:20] he has to do some dadding um so Orodin is furious Thor tells him you're an old man in a few a fool Odin says yes I was a fool to think you were ready oh cold cold burn

[00:44:39] Odin strips Thor of his power cast him out to earth Odin also sends um Mjolnir say whispering to it whome so ever wields this hammer and is worthy of it she'll have the power of Thor

[00:44:55] now we're in New Mexico and now we're all the way back to that first scene that we saw with um Dr. Jane Foster he he gets hit by the car and then he recovers from getting hit by the car

[00:45:12] and is aggressive and you know delusional Darcy tasers him knocks him out they load him into the van to take him to the hospital once he wakes up he again gets pissed off starts fighting all the

[00:45:28] ER doctors and then gets trained um three scientists are discussing so they're discussing a constellation wormhole that they discover was going on outside win Thor came down to earth they one of the funny things in this scene that I have to mention real quick here just

[00:45:55] so Darcy like looks at a picture that's on a board that very clearly has Thor's outline like in this tornado and like this is the sudden the revelation that oh Thor came down through this tornado

[00:46:09] but like who hung it up there? because like one of them was hanging up there and none of them noticed it as they were hanging it up which is kind of funny to me I'm gonna just staple it up a

[00:46:22] whole bunch of pictures in the middle of the matter exactly exactly so they drive off they they Dr. Dumpett Sothek? No Natalie Portman Foster Dr. Foster is just because oh I left something at the hospital

[00:46:44] and then they go to the hospital to pick up Thor they end up hitting him again with her with their car Jane gives himself a little bit of a minor when she was like I'm honestly not trying to do this or someone

[00:46:56] like that I'm really sorry for this or whatever she said I thought I wanted to say something like hit me once shame on me hit you twice shame on you so they get back to the card dealership lab area and

[00:47:14] we get to see some some fan service out of Chris Hem's worth and he's rather cut for a homeless guy but Jane does give him some civilian clothes they belong to her ex boyfriend Dr. Donald Blake

[00:47:36] and then at the same time we cut over to the site where Thor's hammer came down a crowd of people has gathered people are barbecuing kind of holding like tail gates for it trying to pull

[00:47:50] it out of the ground and eventually the government shows up in the form of shield to take over the site and start studying it there must be nothing going on in Mexico where you're just gonna have

[00:48:09] a tailgate party for something that fell out of the sky like dude it's so funny because I thought the same thing and then I was talking to my wife and she has family in Nebraska

[00:48:21] and we realize that this was what it would be like if the hammer landed in Nebraska they will do anything for anything if anything happens it was funny to me first off if you're Thor

[00:48:39] you get cast out knocked unconscious and the first thing you see when you wake up is not a report man I would be like okay this is pretty cool I'm not gonna complain too much like

[00:48:50] how are you so that was that was pretty funny and then I also loved the way cat was swooning all over him constantly it was a complete role reversal normally you have the boys who

[00:49:03] were like constantly you know swooning over the girls but the fact that she was nonstop like he can come with me almost like she's almost like let's go I'll take them they can say with

[00:49:13] me type of thing like she was like yes and then when he was shirtless and very cut everybody was like hello yeah it was it was a it was a whole fun thing and

[00:49:26] I liked when the government comes they must be the same government that was in E.T because they had the same bubble tent set up all around that they didn't eat he when they fumigated the house of

[00:49:40] E.T as well I was like oh look at these guys yeah yeah David I know you noticed some things with with that like scene where he's being cast out yeah I was gonna say that I did some research and

[00:49:55] guess that Kenneth Branagh asked Anthony Hopkins to improvise his reaction to Thor's yelling at and the when the scenes were being filmed I guess the cast were like struggling to maintain their composure like he's just he's just delivering it right and it'll stay later commented to this is

[00:50:14] my fair quote this later complimented Hopkins to which he said Ken's pretty fantastic isn't he just just basically like putting it all on Kenneth Branagh as opposed to it's Anthony Hopkins

[00:50:25] the other thing I noted and it's I don't know if it's intentional not but the scene where they have the flyover and you see the big crater that's been formed around Miolener you see a large circle

[00:50:38] which appeared to be rings and then there's a center and it looks almost like the design of Captain America shield with these kind of concentric rings in a with the center which I thought was pretty interesting

[00:50:48] yeah you texted me about that and I I was like looking at it because I was like I wonder if there's actually five little spots where people had driven down into the crater to

[00:50:58] to make like a star on the like your your mind makes a star right there's not like clear lines but it is interesting that there's specifically five spots where the the crater kind of

[00:51:13] intense because it does lead your eyes to kind of make a star there yeah and you mentioned the the Dr. Donald Blake named hack on the blue shirt which was his comic book

[00:51:26] alter ego he would have walk around he was head difficulty walking walk around with like a walking stick you bang it turn into Thor obviously as we talked about before marvel at this point

[00:51:36] time is basically a stewed secret identities from the most part which I think actually makes it a lot made makes the stories move a lot better so yeah I think telling a Thor story with a secret

[00:51:49] identity would be weird you know once we get to Spider-Man down the road we do some secret identity stuff which you kind of have to and it makes more sense like that that's a core part of

[00:52:00] his character but Donald Blake you know secret identity Thor in a world where Iron Man exists a god God doesn't need to have a secret identity and for me not being a comic book person this was

[00:52:17] fun because I I just remember like that man in Superman and Superman told secret identity was that he put on glasses and you know what he felt that it was him versus Clark Kent I'm like

[00:52:29] you got to be kidding me so the fact that marvel for the first four movies didn't even bother hiding who they were made it more fun that it was like okay this is cool like everybody knows

[00:52:39] who they are they don't have to pretend that they're not who they are which is fun yeah and this scene also was my one of my favorite stand Lee cameo scenes with the pickup truck and he's

[00:52:51] trying to pull the hammer out with the pickup truck and the whole back of the truck flies off and he goes did I get it and I was like that's awesome that's that's a that's a true like

[00:53:02] hillbilly move for you right there like I can get it with my truck and then the whole thing like it worked nope yeah yeah it's it's pretty fantastic seeing that and you know

[00:53:15] I was thinking back sorry to take us back to the like secret identities thing I had kind of a revelation literally as we were talking here of like this story would have had to have been incredibly

[00:53:26] different because a God being cast out being confused would not come up with a secret identity if you were trying to do a secret identity story with Thor I don't know that the banishment would have

[00:53:40] happened I think you have a totally different character because like Thor's kind of this broy brawny kind of not very clever type of just mussely guy and that just I don't think that would

[00:53:54] fly with a secret identity and so I think you would get a totally different character if they went that way which is interesting yeah the other cameo in the hammer scene what we the first person

[00:54:09] to discover the hammer was played by Jay Michael's Shazinski I think that's pronounced correctly he worked on Thor in 2007 and developed pretty much our modern view of Thor the modern look of Thor

[00:54:29] that you know we see throughout this movie Thor without the helmet right we got the helmet in his coordination ceremony but that's really the only time we got kind of that comic accurate helmet

[00:54:41] so really the design and the MCU of Thor is Michael Shazinski's work so kind of cool to see him also get a little bit of a cameo here is that the other than Stanley is that the first

[00:54:59] of the creatives that we've seen cameoed in the movies I'm trying to think if there was another writer or artist I don't think so I mean I mean we had a movie writer right because we had

[00:55:14] in Iron Man 2 what's his name played the cop just a throw I don't know if I count that do you wrote himself in there so get it get an acting credit anyway I thought that was kind of

[00:55:26] I didn't even realize at the time but I thought that that was pretty pretty cool and a little bit of a nod that there's more to marvel than just Stanley right yeah yeah and that that I know that's been

[00:55:38] a conflict for a long time with Marvel too is like particularly Jack Kirby's estate is they're less than thrilled with the celebrity that that Stanley developed for himself mostly because it overshadowed you know their loved ones work which Jack Kirby we wouldn't have

[00:55:57] marvel today without Jack Kirby so don't let me be don't let me contribute to the ratio of Jack Kirby but oh yeah all right so we're back at Asgard Loki, Fallstead, Fandrel Hogan's if they're all discussing Thor's management Loki admits to telling a guard

[00:56:19] to tell Odin where they were going and really shocked Loki's like you're welcome I saved I saved all of and the start folks start to question a little bit Loki might have had more to do with Thor's

[00:56:32] management then we have this great scene Loki's suspect he's not pure as Guardian he grabs a casket ask what am I turned around he sees this kind of temporary blue skin again very kind of

[00:56:44] whitewalker vibes if you will and there's just like fantastic scene between Loki and Odin where Odin admits that Loki was taken from Yotinheim as an infant and raised as his own Loki's confused he's angry he I want the quote which is great he talks about

[00:57:08] Odin says I I take you because I thought we united our King is one day bring about alliance bring about permanent peace through you but those plants no longer matter so what am I no longer

[00:57:18] more than another stolen relic locked up here until you might have use of me in the any it ends with this line well Loki says you know it all makes sense now why you favor Thor all these years

[00:57:29] because no matter how much you claim to love me you could never have a frost giant sitting on the throne of Asgard which I guess was enough to just push Odin into like his coma like Odin's

[00:57:44] leap to recover his strength and then Loki is you know acting king at that point in time do you think Loki was being a spoiled brat at that point or do you think his frustration anger

[00:58:02] was validated because to me it feels a little like he just found out he was adopted and he's now mad that he was adopted so he's twisting it as much as he can to make his dad feels horrible

[00:58:21] as he possibly can because he was adopted and he he feels that he was just upon and do you think his feelings are validated I do I think I think I think I think there are a couple of scenes in

[00:58:40] the movie like so he so Loki's the king the god of mystery if you will always line do cannot tell the truth but the scenes in which he is like agitated and yelling we see it later with Thor

[00:58:53] and in this thing without I think this is legitimately how he's feeling I don't I don't feel like he's doing it to put a twist on things in order to like get Odin to react in a certain way

[00:59:04] I agree and I think because it goes beyond like finding out you're adopted right like you he and I think he had a line about this right he found out in that scene that he is the monster

[00:59:19] that they tell kids about it right like he's the he is the bad guy and so I think I think it was very genuine and he was he was pissed and rightfully so sorry we like dumped on our guests there oh my goodness

[00:59:40] I don't know how I take it because I don't and also I don't know once again going back to bad dad like if he would have told him earlier that he was adopted and whatever what he have this same

[01:00:01] healing um I don't know like I I didn't know how to take this scene as to who was more at fault and I think I think Odin was actually more at fault for not being

[01:00:17] perfectly honest with Loki from the start when he was old enough to know what he was or who he was or anything like that and but I don't know if Odin took him for the reasons that Loki felt like as upon

[01:00:34] if Odin really did want to save this baby which is what he said he did so I don't know you know who's who's 100% of all I think I think Odin is probably 80% of fault here but I think maybe Loki did

[01:00:48] and it also out of out of anger and frustration might have taken it to the and extreme just to make his dad even more angry because he was angry because this is what he just found

[01:00:59] that now so yeah yeah for sure definitely an intro like definitely I think it's it's an interesting like view into their relationship into the relationship between Loki and Odin

[01:01:14] and you see this a little bit more as the series goes on Loki's very close with his mom he's very close with Fruga and I think this shows kind of why I think you know this the Odin Odin I think

[01:01:29] always viewed him as another you know secretly and didn't speak it but I think he did view him as other. I want to pause for just a second because it does raise an interesting question around

[01:01:45] so Loki was the one that arranged to allow the frost dryans to basically get into the weapons chamber and ruin Thor's day ostensibly to Erke's brother but also I think he also rightfully probably believes it's Thor may not necessarily have been the right person at the right time

[01:02:07] to be king right we see he is brash reckless does his own thing and later and so later on when later on we see laughing because on later on I wonder if that is Loki's attempt to despite being a

[01:02:26] frost giant to in dear himself or to make himself seem like he is the rightful king just kind of an interesting interesting but we'll get to once we get to get to those things for sure.

[01:02:40] So we we head back from here over back to New Mexico we see Thor has been carboloding on poptarts and then he's eating some pancakes and he drinks coffee. But side note you know those are

[01:02:55] the first poptarts of pancakes that you had in months right yeah that dude is not touched a carb to get to that shape so he's just probably like 11 it's like the scene again let's

[01:03:08] let's throw it out when he does truly love his coffee and he smashes his coffee upon the floor and says another great scene great scene that I I'm here in the not of tried to imitate in a

[01:03:23] starbic less and yet exactly no I was gonna say less than less than silver state but after hearing the locals discussing a satellite crash 50 miles to west Thor decides he's going to go there and as they're departing the diner shield agents arrive they confiscate the groups

[01:03:50] research notes and their computers and Darcy's iPod with 30 newly downloaded songs on it every today every my removing has a little piece of technology or just like oh yeah you see this

[01:04:04] you're like hey let me introduce you to Spotify right yeah this is that it's the iPod and then it's also when Jane is arguing about this seizure and she's like I can't just go to

[01:04:19] radio shack and buy replacements like the old secular is always fun when you get the old or movies like this 2011 movie it's fun talking this those old tech easter eggs

[01:04:33] so Dr. Selvig is you know it is talking to Jane Foster let's her know you know he has a a comrade who got mixed up with shield who was a pioneer in radiation and gamma radiation

[01:04:48] huh who never showed up again um which is Bruce Banner right like we get it's not a spoiler are we just saw the movie you know that's I don't know is it Bruce Banner or is it leader

[01:05:01] it's not a leader that's a good I'm almost certain it's it'll be a reference to Bruce Banner I can be wrong but but it seems to me that that that would be an easy tie

[01:05:12] yeah I think my non marvellous I took it as Bruce Banner you know I'm sure 75% of the population who saw this movie took it as Bruce Banner that's fair because that's all we know I don't know

[01:05:26] I mean who leader is so uh so leader was in in the incredible Hulk the like um the other scientist Mr. Blue that's leader okay so yeah and then um we see Dr. Selvig is in the library browsing some

[01:05:45] books um and he's looking at books and and you see him pick up a book on Norse mythology he kind of chuckles to himself um four is wandering around town trying to procure a horse in one of my

[01:06:03] favorite scenes he like literally walks into the pet story guys I need a horse um curly headed guy working there's like uh we don't have any of those we have birds and lizards and

[01:06:16] dogs and cats and Thorgos I need one large enough to ride um as as he's wandering around town Jane comes across him and says hey let's let's go out to the crater let's go get our stuff

[01:06:30] um I did like the naive Thor scenes these were fun scenes as him just wandering around aim was walking down the middle of the street like has no idea that these cars or are something that can

[01:06:42] hurt you type of thing so it was fun watching his his uh naiveness in these in these opening scenes until he finally realizes who he is later on or whatever or figures out that will earth the

[01:06:54] works or something I don't know strange or in a strange land is definitely a good story here the two things I saw that I thought were interesting one was um you mentioned the library when he

[01:07:05] opens up the book and just happens to open it to the part of an oden who walking across the by frost with the spirit one hand and the tesseract in the other like do not even paying attention to

[01:07:18] but it seems like a little bit of a check-offs gun there and then there was another scene on rewatch there is um as he's walking towards the crater site and he's leaving there's water tower at the

[01:07:34] end of the street and says welcome home of the Vikings which I thought that was kind of a fun little nod. Did you catch the did you catch the billboard in town because I think it's in the same scene where

[01:07:44] we see the billboard for the first time so it says visit new Mexico land of enchantment which is the state motto for new Mexico and that says dot dot dot journey into mystery as a fun little

[01:07:58] plug towards those comics that Thor started in. Absolutely um so from basically after we've seen Selvick checking out the books and um Thor wandering around town we do also see a couple of

[01:08:18] scenes in as guard where Loki has assumed the throne in Odin's place we see him refused to bring Thor back he's basically like if I undid what my dad said it would be bad that's kind of his silver

[01:08:33] toned way of explaining it um we also see him and uh Frigga kind of talking about how long the Odin's sleep will last um so then we cut back over to um to New Mexico um we see actually kind of a cute

[01:08:54] little like relationship building excuse me relationship building scene uh driving to the the um creator site between Jane and Thor they kind of have like a nice little little bit of relationship building which I have to say like we've seen a lot and we talked about

[01:09:12] this a lot in Iron Man 2 um a lot of really dysfunctional like romantic relationships in the MCU so far this was refreshing to see something actually functional what do you all think of the chemistry

[01:09:25] between the two I thought it was really good what do you think um well yet way better than a attack of the clones right where sorry I just had to get that one in um

[01:09:39] are you of course we have our Star Wars guests and we have to bring up a tackle close are you what an angel no sorry now I thought it was pretty good like um the it was pretty still to in the Hulk

[01:09:53] I've I have up through Iron Man 2 I do not see any real basis for the relationship between Pepper Potton Tony but you can kind of see a little bit of a you can see the formations of a relationship

[01:10:07] there um you know which obviously also Harkins and the fact that like Thor is kind of changing as as an individual as well yeah um she once they start to talking get to know each other you do see

[01:10:24] that he is becoming less arrogant in this car ride yep and she's understanding more maybe he's not homeless maybe he does have a point here so she does start to respect him more as a person as

[01:10:39] well so yeah so it was it was very I felt it was very good building character building so then we get to the creator site um and um it's surrounded by tempting in guards

[01:10:56] for decides he's gonna break in um any he breaks in fights through a ton of guards including um or I guess he doesn't really fight through one particular agent but he gets through and

[01:11:13] Colson calls over the radio to get eyes on scene we see some hands go to reach for a sniper rifle and then decide to change their mind up to a bow and arrow and then we typically said grab a gun

[01:11:31] yeah that scene was so silly to me like why would so it's so talk I I should say this Hawkeye we we see our first views of Hawkeye um and and he I don't understand other than for

[01:11:45] playing up for cinematic effect like reaching for the sniper and then grabbing your bow and arrow right like I maintain that this was not part of the original filming there was just added afterwards

[01:11:56] to make snow sense there was just it was a I get hey it's cute we're gonna have this other avenger we're gonna show him off this move which is just um we've seen that necessary

[01:12:07] for sure um so after beating up several agents for finally reaches the hammer but he's unable to lift it um he's upset he's powerless slumps to the ground and puts up no fight in getting

[01:12:23] arrested so during that fight the other thing that I found was interesting so there's one in particular guard that goes toe to toe with Thor um and I being the comic book person I am when

[01:12:38] I first watched this I was dead set on that being Luke Cage power man I was like oh they're going to introduce Luke Cage that was like not when I expected unfortunately ends up being

[01:12:50] nameless guard number three who just happens to be strong enough to go toe to toe with Thor yeah I spent some time to try to figure out who was and I you know I don't know there would be

[01:13:01] Luke Cage but it would have been cool but I also didn't think Luke Cage is really like shield agent type yeah yeah I would have it it would have been a appropriating Luke Cage at that point

[01:13:11] I think I think it would have been like taking that character and just re-appropriating him to make him fit your narrative totally I think um this is the scene where it really hits home that he

[01:13:25] is no longer worthy as Thor right this is it we see his kind of evolution through the film and really was actually one of the high points I think as I've re-watched it was to really see how his

[01:13:35] character changed throughout from the beginning where he's brash hardheaded you know fight first think later kind of approach and then really just became this as through the movie this kind of

[01:13:47] more selfless character and at this point in time he's just he is distraught because he is you know banished away from asgard and is and realizes like all that he's basically the all that he's brought

[01:14:01] upon himself um it was there was like a big buildup also as as he's fighting through they kept cutting very abruptly to Natalie Portman's face like as she's watching from afar distance with this smallest binoculars you possibly didn't. And then she sees when he puts his hand

[01:14:24] on the hammer and they cut to her and she's got this big smile like yes this guy's who he says he is and then when he can't do anything even her expression was oh I was lied to or whatever or yeah

[01:14:40] I really wanted to believe in this guy and now he was just making up this whole story so it was like a double disappointment for everybody involved because she wanted to believe in him and he wanted to

[01:14:53] get his power back I did like the line when he she was like you're gonna fight all the way in and all the way out he was like no I'll just fly out and then that when it doesn't work it is and

[01:15:05] like he said you really see his his emotion his acting was good in this when he was like oh I got nothing now so I'm just gonna give up yeah we we we later cut to Agent Colson who is questioning

[01:15:20] Thor and when he leaves him alone briefly Loki appears in the room Loki tells Thor that that Odin's dead he can't come back to Asgard mom hates you you know etc etc Thor for whatever reason believes Loki

[01:15:37] despite being a pathological liar he's distraught and then we see Loki try to lift the hammer I don't I don't know like what kind of security we're talking about here but it seems to me like at least

[01:15:50] one of the guards would see some dude in a suit like trying to lift the hammer and then walk at magic magic it's fine it's fine the other thing I point out when you watch that scene I guess they died

[01:16:03] Chris Hemsworth eyebrows blonde to match his terrible wig and meant it is distracting in that scene when it is so close up anyway Eric arrives tell the and this arrives to tell the age of the Thor

[01:16:20] this chains ex-husband is under the influence of steroids which explains why he was fighting people Selvich prevents a fake driver's license which has the same Dr. Blake name on it and for whatever reason Colson lets Eric take Thor who also grabs chains notebook on the way out

[01:16:40] and back in the town Eric takes Thor out for a drink or several drinks and the two discuss Jane and Chug a boiler makers I want to pause here for a second because I want to ask the question

[01:16:55] did is Colson incompetent or is he allowing Thor to just walk away with the intention of following them and learning more about Thor I couldn't figure out what it was I don't think it's incompetence because it flashes up very clearly across the little screen and says

[01:17:17] falsified information right like Colson knows that this is a fake story and that it's interesting you pick that up because I picked that up too of like I don't I don't understand why Colson let him go like it other than to move the story along but

[01:17:38] that's a meta reason right like that's not Colson so yeah that did strike me as strange watching this is there wasn't really a good reason to let Thor go I think because Thor wasn't able

[01:17:52] to do what Thor wanted to do which pick up the hammer and become Thor I think maybe Colson's like keeping him trapped here isn't going to help me find out what this guy is capable of

[01:18:07] because at this point he wasn't capable of anything and we see later on like there's guys on top of the building constantly watching him so I think you let him go to see if he could

[01:18:18] get his whatever powers he may think this guy has and then somehow capture him after he has superpowers which seems a lot harder to do no that makes sense too and that especially

[01:18:31] sends at this point we know that so this is during the same week as Iron Man 2 so we're building towards the Avengers right and and the Avengers initiative is on Colson's mind so it makes sense

[01:18:47] that I guess if he saw something and maybe they had got some linguistics back on Milner and I realized oh this is what it is and so if I let it play out maybe I'll get another member to the Avengers

[01:19:03] I think that would be that would make sense yeah we we cut back to Yotinheim Loki admits to allowing the frost trines into azgard nor to spoil Thor's day and he offers offers Lauffie the chance to kill Odin and retrieve the casket hindel confronts Loki when

[01:19:21] returns suspicious Loki's found a way to hide his actions from Hymdall again side note here like this is your dad like and you're already setting up the double like the double cross like

[01:19:33] this guy is great Thor brings Eric who is hammered back to James trailer and Thor and Jane go on the rooftop he returns to notebook they have an excellent discussion you know there's

[01:19:46] that cool little see where he's kind of explaining the nine realms and stuff and the by the by frost bridge to James which is kind of a nice moment yeah man so I alluded to this in an earlier podcast

[01:20:00] we were talking about Thor's beard which by the way listen to our super secret spoiler show so you can hear me critique all the facial hair in this movie because there's a lot of it just a lot of it

[01:20:12] but I lived with these guys around the time this movie came out and I don't think they're listeners so I don't feel bad telling the story if they are they'll probably hit me up and be

[01:20:25] very angry at me but yeah here we are it's their names and address is why yeah I'll drop them right now um but yeah so I live with these guys and one guy was so angry at this movie because

[01:20:40] they gave Thor facial hair and he wasn't supposed to have a beard until he became King Thor that was part of his his like coordination was he grew a beard which I was like man it looks the homage

[01:20:53] yeah right it was like okay same roommates same roommates different so there were two guys the other roommate in that scenario he started drinking nothing but boiler makers after this movie came out

[01:21:10] that was like his only drink because of this movie and then when he would come home drunk and we'd be like hey dude how was it like like how how was going out or whatever

[01:21:21] we drank we fought we made our ancestors proud that was his answer every night that he would out to try no that's hilarious I would also point out this is probably the first beer that

[01:21:36] Chris Hemsworth has had in many months I could publish for the role like how excited it's like first year all right so from there we head back to Asgard um we have Vultag, Fandrol, Hogan and Siff are all hanging out they're unhappy that with Loki's rule

[01:22:04] and they decide that they are going to go rescue Thor from exile and we do get one of my favorite Vultag lines in this scene so I believe it's Fandrol is is recounting how much food of Vultag

[01:22:24] has eaten and post eggs shouts out do not mistake my appetite for apathy! It's just so good. So they realize that that Handrol can probably hear them they go to talk to

[01:22:39] Handrol I know it's like yeah I heard you and he's like I can't open up the gate but I can accidentally leave my sword in the hole to open up the gate. I'm just gonna go it's my break I'm a 10,

[01:22:56] I'm a 15 I normally take a with me but you know I'm kind of tired I'm kind of tired arms it's a heavy sword I just need to hear while I go take a smoke or run the other side of the

[01:23:10] bridge. So it's so tough. So it does Handrol have like the worst job I mean you think I'm working 24,7 I see in here everything he's it's which is super creepy it probably no

[01:23:24] personal life whatsoever right? Nope he can't sit down he has to stand the whole time his legs have to be tired and he's not going to stop and he's ordering as anything so important

[01:23:37] that portal is just like us alike to hand-fold the people who are allowed to go through that portal right? Yeah yeah it's like us common folk wouldn't be like hey take me to earth right.

[01:23:50] Right the highlight of his day is when somebody gets to travel through the portal and he just gets to spy on them and listen to their conversations like that's it otherwise he's just like sitting there

[01:24:01] in his mind and just to see them thoughts. Yeah mythological mythological like like one off characters because like he's from myth right like he is absolutely from myth when you actually start to put those

[01:24:17] into like real stories like this it's like oh that kind of sucks yeah we're guy so yeah the warrior Sith in the warrior's three head off to earth and then Loki comes down to the gate

[01:24:35] he freezes him doll after making him no longer a citizen of asgard so hindal can attack Loki Loki freezes him just in time for the sword not to cut off his head um and he Loki goes ahead and opens up the gate to send

[01:25:00] the destroyer to earth to kill for and as well as Sith in the warrior's three. I think the quote was go there and destroy everything which seems rather vague right like did you

[01:25:12] you want to be like little bit more specific yeah yeah um and Loki has not Loki in his rage moments is not the most detail oriented human or detail oriented that's guardian yes so down on earth

[01:25:31] warriors three are walking through our walking through town we see kind of the overseers they're like is there a ren fair in town the other guy says call it in got calls it in we got

[01:25:46] Zina Jackie Chan and Robin Hood walking through town and and all the people stopping and watching these people because you're in a small town in New Mexico and suddenly three very interestingly

[01:26:00] dressed people are just walking down the middle of the street again yeah you yeah you've got like full folks from Comic Con like wandering throughout one of the things I would point out is that

[01:26:12] on rewatch which I noticed in this film which it didn't notice at the first time there's a lot of really funny stuff in here right and you know you have the you have this combination of you

[01:26:23] got the action and you got the exposition you've got all this you know Norse mythology it could be very deep and heavy but they sprinkle in a lot of comedy which they kind of got away from

[01:26:34] the next movie and then pick back up it was there legitimately like some lines in here it cracked me up yeah for sure it's just was this the first Marvel movie where there was a lot of

[01:26:46] comedy and puns and all these like funny things in it like where the other two iron man's and an incredible Hulk this witty I guess will be a good word for I mean to pet I guess if you ask Robert

[01:26:59] Johnny Jr he probably thought it was really witty to do all that in the artwork but he impred a lot of comedy I would say that the iron man too maybe even more so there's

[01:27:10] I mean they're comedic moments if you well not so much in the Hulk so this is really the first one where they blend in I think intentional yeah yeah so ladies sit for the Warriors 3 somehow find

[01:27:25] Thor yell out phone to you and inform him that his father is actually alive Loki surprised his lie to him the destroyer arrives in town or arrives in the New Mexico desert starts destroying things

[01:27:42] we see Colson wonder if is that one of starx fun little tie into the MCU um I guess that I don't know that guy doesn't tell me anything we see a fun CGI battle once the destroyer

[01:27:58] gets to town it's blowing things up one thing I noticed about the CGI here is the destroyers like destruction CGI is kind of old timey especially I noticed it when he blows up the shield car

[01:28:14] where like his laser is headed towards the car and then it's it's like one of those like old school where they would like stop filming and they'd start filming again without the car there but

[01:28:27] an explosion instead and it kind of was interesting and in that like bad CGI but it almost felt stylistically correct for what they were doing so I kind of think it was a stylistic choice there

[01:28:42] we also talk about the blatant advertising of the Lexus SUVs in these two scenes oh my god the first thing was shield and then this one when he blows up one of them

[01:28:53] will be other few are still pristine sitting right there where you can see the grill and all that stuff like oh there's an ad Lexus just paid a lot of money for that so yeah it was I think it was

[01:29:06] accurate but yeah yeah yeah it was man and this is a good time to talk about this the product placement in this movie was hamfisted at best you see a 7-11 get blown up that is like very blatantly

[01:29:23] a 7-11 there's Southwest Airlines advertising all across this town in the middle of freaking New Mexico who's ever- why is Southwest got billboards in the middle of New Mexico plus like a random scene or a random like oh there's a plane flying over what will you

[01:29:42] re-re route all of them well this one is Southwest Flight blah blah blah well re- route it conversation it the I think that's something that's probably a Viacom Paramel distributing thing because a lot of their properties have that heavy heavy ad revenue from the product placement

[01:30:02] and it felt so heavy in this one yeah yeah those acures just how perfectly they were placed I was like oh my god you're so selling these cars right now right when Will Smith was driving the

[01:30:18] outies in whatever that space show movie was I don't remember it was but it was just like you just saw the outie symbol everywhere I was like okay they paid millions of dollars to be in this

[01:30:29] movie but it was the same thing with this it's not a Marvel movie unless it was like some sort of auto placement every it is very true so then uh four which actually like that yeah the

[01:30:44] auto manufacturers like can we put cars and as guards like down there we can't it's like okay that fine just put in your Mexico then that's fine. Gold one we will we have a gold one we could

[01:30:55] put it there to just be in the background no it has to stay on earth yeah so then uh Thor Thor and his friends are fighting the destroyer it's not going well so Thor decides he's gonna he's gonna send everybody else off he's gonna sacrifice himself

[01:31:16] to try and convince Loki to turn the destroyer off he gives us a little quick Thor or then the destroyer starts to back away and then he turns around and back hands Thor sending him flying

[01:31:33] uh Jane runs to to Thor in a slow mo scene and her shirt she's got this shirt that's like a rainbow with legs and a son on the other side that absolutely breaks the drama of this scene

[01:31:52] entirely for me because watching her run in this like happy go lucky t-shirt I just couldn't like totally ruins all the drama of this scene but this selfless act of protecting his friends proves him worthy to wield Nealner which then Nealner freeze itself comes running to Thor's hand

[01:32:19] when Thor grabs Nealner he gets his armor back he gets his full strength and he easily defeats the destroyer from there and goes and then heads to Asgard or it says

[01:32:32] he's going to head to Asgard but promises Jane he'll come back what would you how would you rank this armor up scene in comparison to Ironman really get a little bit yeah we only get a little bit

[01:32:46] I'm a so I think this is more like our more like Ironman's Nano Sue armor ups which are not by favorite it's kind of the like little piece by little piece instead of like

[01:33:00] these big mechanisms like locking in and stuff which is what I want really appeals to me how about you where where how do you feel about this one it's too brief it's too brief to

[01:33:13] crack the top five but I enjoyed that scene uh the scene I the part it did not enjoy was when Thor is talking to Colson he says know this son of Cole which again legitimately

[01:33:27] funny line you have that for the same cause the protection of this world from this default where you can count on me as your ally if you return if you return the items you've taken

[01:33:36] from Jane Jane Foster says stolen and then Agent Colson says borrowed of course you can have your equipment back you're going to need to continue research I'm like wait a second why the 360

[01:33:49] did not understand this at all didn't make any sense this goes hand in hand with the that Colson stuff from up above from early in the in the movie yeah I think this is I think Colson realizes who

[01:34:01] Thor is and realizes that getting getting close to Thor is going to benefit him and so by bringing Jane in he'll get closer to the Thor and then of course Natalie Portman has

[01:34:16] some sweet contract disputes and we actually don't get to see a lot of that research continue but here we are so we are back in Asgard Loki let's in the foster on through the portal walk past

[01:34:32] the frozen high and all Thor calls high and all from earth open by frost but nothing happens but eventually high and all breaks out of deep storage cold storage and Siff in the War 3 back to Asgard Luffy goes to Odin's bed chamber to kill Odin

[01:34:55] but before he can Loki kills his dad tough look there in order to appear to be the hero enters the chamber at confronts Loki in front of Frega you know all the all the

[01:35:09] the T spilt in terms of all the lies or we're told Loki stings Thor and Loki goes to the by frost portal and sets it up to destroy Yavnaheim we have this scene where Thor confronts him tries

[01:35:24] to stop them to fight Thor immobilizes Loki with Mionner which I thought was a fun little scene just a little like hammer hammer what were the hammer paper weight which I thought was kind of fun

[01:35:39] and then later starts to destroy the bridge in order to stop the process everything's crumbling it the two brothers are gonna fall into space but Odin is awakened arrives to save Lauren Thoki Thor

[01:35:51] and Loki Loki let's go of his staff and falls into the into the the abyss off of the disappearing by frost bridge and then we never see Loki ever again in Marvel which is really never seen it. I was a good character too that's a bum man.

[01:36:15] Also so Asgard with the exception of the bridge all seems okay on Asgard Thor is grieving his brother Odin says he is proud of Thor Odin says quote you'll be a wise king. Thor says there will

[01:36:30] never be a wise or king the new or better father I have much to learn I know that now one day perhaps I will make you proud and Odin says you've already made me proud. We've seen the one

[01:36:40] eight this is the full transition of Thor and his character to the future Thor that we see in the movies you know here forward we see Thor pining for Jane but Hondell

[01:36:52] shows him that she is searching for him the credit role and the and it says Thor will turn in the inventors and I remember seeing that for the first time and I got super excited. I mean

[01:37:06] you did just get to happen but man that's awesome. Yeah super super cool and yeah the getting to see that man. It was so we got Avengers Initiative in Iron Man 1 we got a little bit

[01:37:31] in the the after credits scene we got you know trying to recruit a bombination actually for the Avengers in incredible Hulk and then in Iron Man 2 we get the like pre-credits scene the Avengers Initiative and the map of the Avengers and this was the first time where like

[01:37:53] they actually put it to writing right that hey we're gonna do the Avengers which is so cool. Was that a yeah like a financial decision at this point because they didn't know

[01:38:08] with the first Iron Man house successful is going to be that they didn't want to spill all the beans right away if they if this movie was a bust and now that they had three hits and this is

[01:38:20] going to be their expected fourth hit that they were like okay now we can expand this whole thing the way we want to do you think or was it just like this was the ultimate plan all the way through.

[01:38:31] It's a good question I think I think they had the plan to make the Avengers but if the first Iron Man was a complete bomb they would just they would just cancel and they just wouldn't have proceeded forward but each film proved to be financially

[01:38:51] financial winners like they and so I think that by by the time they got to Iron Man 2 I think they were pretty green lit to go all the way through to the Avengers and as they you know the first phase

[01:39:02] of the MCU and then after that. Yeah one last cameo that was in these last few scenes here just to put a button on that before we start our post post shows discussion here Walter Simonson who is

[01:39:19] another comic book writer really good for writer I mean all the Thor fan if we if we had Ryan here he probably give us a whole history on Walter Simonson but he is he's in the banquet at the

[01:39:39] very end he's sitting between siff and ball stack so kind of cool to get to see like you said a cool to bring in more modern creators and more creators from the comics space then just standly

[01:39:55] because while standingly did some really cool stuff he definitely wasn't all okay so as a reminder we'll talk about the after credits scene after the credits so first and foremost closing thoughts here what was why was this movie significant to the MCU

[01:40:14] right we're all relatively caught up on the MCU why do we feel like this movie was significant to the MCU looking back at it I personally think this movie is important I think the main reason

[01:40:28] the the prior movies were set were very much kind of limited to being on earth you know in large cities if you will and which is very limiting this is the first the first movie

[01:40:42] that goes outside of earth right and so to be able to pull off as guard I think I don't think you could do future film I don't think you can't do gardens if it's a galt so you can't do the

[01:40:55] the Avengers saga if you will if you're just stuck on earth and so being able to pull this off to me that was that I think that's the main significance of the movie they also did a

[01:41:09] fantastic job of nailing the casting of Loki and Thor who are going to be two major characters through the rest of the MCU and so I think for those reasons it's important I agree I think

[01:41:25] like you said the fact that they show people who aren't just humans you know Tony Stark humans with lots of money and geniuses who can build things that you can actually build so to see a god

[01:41:41] a Norse god come down from another planet is like okay that's why this guy has powers this is you know not the equivalent to the Superman but the alien who has special powers and it opens up

[01:41:54] to the giant universe that that becomes is pretty cool but I still think after you told me that who the other characters were I think a triple H and Jim Carrot Loki and Thor would totally be

[01:42:09] so much better just Jim Carrot re-doing his line from the from Batman your entrance was good but his was better the different showmanship I mean I just want that again like that would be

[01:42:21] an amazing Loki I say with Mark Nezon yeah I one the other thing that I think is so significant about this movie and you highlighted in our discussion is this movie tonally is probably

[01:42:39] the most close to the way the rest of the MCU developed right it would it has the quickiness it has the humor and and some genuine funny pieces that made the MCU the blockbusters

[01:42:53] they are and I think are the stumbling block for the sister universe right the the DC EU is they struggled to get the the buy-in from the at large community because they were so heavy and they

[01:43:06] were so so weighty movies the the quickiness the funnyness that that you showed you could still tell a really good story you could tell a really good story through Thor but still make it kind of funny

[01:43:19] on the side yeah I love the Batman movies you all way back to the to the original comic book movie the 1989 Batman movie but they were always so dark and and that's just the way Batman is

[01:43:34] so going and seeing Thor and so much whittiness in it and laughing the whole time being like wow this is awesome like you can have superheroes and comedy at the same time this makes this

[01:43:49] so much different than then DC and I think that's really what separated Marvel from Batman and even Superman was always a more serious story so it definitely made them I step above at this point

[01:44:06] doesn't it's like wow there is more to it so it was fun and and it really did peek my interest in the Marvel universe and when I you know seeing the thing about the Avengers I remember going home

[01:44:19] and like finding out who were the Avengers and you know who else is gonna be in it and we haven't seen this Captain America guy yet and I was like okay so we're gonna get all these other people

[01:44:30] this is gonna be really cool and then I just remember thinking like what are their budgets going to be like to have to be superstars in these movies it's gonna be unbelievable uh financially what they're

[01:44:40] going to be able to pull off absolutely all right so thinking about the movie as a whole what was either and whichever one is more compelling to you either your favorite or your least favorite scene

[01:44:54] I would say the Thor management scene was at the very beginning of the movie I think that was probably my favorite most after especially after learning that Anthony Hopkins ad lib

[01:45:08] much of his lines it just really kind of like set up this very kind of dramatic you know she's in a few will between father and son and I think without that if it were just like you were

[01:45:21] saying Thor goes to earth and assumes a person like I think the whole story is just completely different I liked because it was silly and goofy and just different I liked seeing when he was first walking

[01:45:39] through town and eating all the food and just so naive because apparently did he has he been to earth before because they said something about the like storms and stuff like that like do we know in a

[01:45:53] backstory that he was here before or no or was this his like first time on earth you know I'm not sure I definitely establish as like he could have been there before right I think there's there's

[01:46:08] right you mentioned a lot of like um like oh if it's not just going to earth and causing a storm to get out of there or something right so it was just fun it was I thought it was fun and and just the

[01:46:24] just silly how it was just like walking through town walking right down the middle street and you know yelling at cars as they almost hit him and whatever so that was that was a fun a fun scene for me

[01:46:35] and I don't know if my favorites but it definitely made me laugh and chuckle so that was a good time it's fair it's fair um I think my favorite scene probably was a breakfast the this was great I'll have

[01:46:51] another that that one's so fun and it sticks with me right like I every time I'm in like one like a small town diner or something I like think of that that scene so yeah it's definitely a good one

[01:47:06] and it also just supposed to just oppose us nicely with later when he's actually doing cooking the breakfast you see his turn whereas at that point the movie is used to being you know

[01:47:16] served hand-in-foot and you know you see that switch by the end for sure all right now for our MVP of the movie so um I'm gonna spring it on Rob you're gonna go first who who was who was your MVP

[01:47:34] of this movie MVP of the movie I want to go like pretty obscure but I'm just gonna I'll go with Thor because he it was a good big story character arc all built around how he went from

[01:47:52] jerk to true hero so I do I do I'll give it to him right now take take take take take take take the lay up I know I'm gonna take ball stack wow I love ball stack like he's he's so good

[01:48:16] and he has one of the best years so you can relate to him with the beer exactly exactly and I can relate to him with his app Ryan's middle name is full stack it's a little

[01:48:26] known fact people sort of share that with you I'll take Loki like Loki he is Tom Hiddleston is amazing in the role I can't imagine really anyone else doing it's certainly not Jim Carrey

[01:48:39] and he just he just plays him fantastically all throughout he's just he's this is wonderfully mischievous lovable love some character that has just he's amazing so I'll admit something to the

[01:48:57] listener so so off air David and I have come up with a with a side rule that we can't choose the same neither like within our own personal choices we cannot choose the same MVP for two movies

[01:49:11] so if a character repeats is in other movies we can't choose him and that's why I stay away from he because I think there's better ways coming down the pipe this is this does not

[01:49:23] build well for for dark world I'll just say we will get you a little research it's to who could be the up attention now the other one I would have thought would I I almost all with the was

[01:49:34] Seran three Hopkins he's really great in the role that's fair that's fair I just realized I made editing work for myself because that was a massive spoiler so for those of you who are a fan of

[01:49:45] my editing work here it is let's see here so overall ranking impressions so we've watched four movies in the MCU so far so I personally I'll all tackle this question first one overall impression

[01:50:05] I like this movie this movie is really good we talked about it a little bit at the beginning ranking wise I would place it after Iron Man one so I would say right now out of the four we've

[01:50:17] watched it would for me go Iron Man one four Iron Man two and then incredible Hulk overall looking at the whole 30 movies of the MCU that we have I'm gonna place this one

[01:50:33] probably top third I would say this is gonna be in the top 10 it's hard it's so hard because like there's some there's part of me that goes oh man is it that good but there's also

[01:50:48] part of me that goes name 10 better movies and I have a hard time so how about you David I have a similar ranking it's Iron Man Thor when a one be big gap 4 2 gap Hulk

[01:51:08] incredible Hulk Iron Man two you remember Iron Man two I'm a two sorry yeah and then I would say as far as like where it sits I think it sits in the second tier like not the top third but like the

[01:51:20] middle third but towards the top of the middle third how did you rather I uh I think the incredible Hulk was the most amazing movie of all times that one has to be first just kidding uh

[01:51:37] I would I your top first four movies I have the same thing Iron Man one and Iron Man ones one that I watch a lot and I keep going back to and I think it's because it's the one that

[01:51:49] started this whole thing so I keep going back to and I mean even with the first Mark one suit that he made out of whatever they said he made it out of I figured with it with the line was on scraps yeah

[01:52:04] box of scraps in the movie to see that first one and then to see where he takes it from there is awesome so I would definitely go Iron Man one Thor and then Iron Man two and then incredible Hulk and

[01:52:18] I think top 30 I think incredible Hulk would probably be very low on the list of all 30 of them and I think I would put this in the top 10 I really enjoyed the character of Thor

[01:52:33] supposedly there are I know we're not gonna talk about spoilers but supposedly there are more Thor movies coming I would put them in the lower way down later in the 20s but this one I liked a lot

[01:52:48] so I definitely would probably put this somewhere in the top 10 I would have to look at the list of all 30 movies but definitely as a fan of Thor I definitely put it in the top 10.

[01:52:59] I would say for this one on my rewatch I think of the first four films this is the one I enjoyed like a higher level of enjoyment if you will like I would enjoy the Iron Man one I've seen it a

[01:53:11] million times but because of not seen Thor as many times on rewatch it had like the the biggest I'm excited yeah I agree and I did like rewatching it and then being like oh I remember that

[01:53:24] and I remember like thinking of like Lego builds that they had for it and being like oh that's when they did that Lego Thor build and this and that whatever and just different like my son being

[01:53:35] younger he got had a lot of toys and stuff of it and I just remember like yeah that's what it's from that scene there and the scene here and this and that and you know everybody had to have the

[01:53:44] accurate SUV toy as well because of us Marta the movie that's fair that's fair all right so let's see here so yeah Rob thank you for joining us this week this is great anything that you have to say before we

[01:54:05] before we boogie out out of here uh Banta milk podcast check this out all false our wars all the time heck yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah better not only portment character and then yeah don't forget to

[01:54:22] check us out on our social media of choice we're literally piny pot every way so find us also check us out on on the ears of discord i'm RGH on there thank you all for listening join us next

[01:54:36] month when we get into the MCU's first Avenger captain america the first Avenger and as we always say puny pod will return all right for those who stick around after the credits you get an after credit scene

[01:55:19] so in this movie we had an after credit scene of uh Dr. Selvig going in he's been taken to a shield facility where he meets McFairy Nick Fury shows him a object in a briefcase that he

[01:55:40] says could be a source of unlimited power um it is a blue glowing cube um when um we we cut to our reflection of Selvig in a piece of glass Loki is then um next gym and says well I guess that's

[01:55:59] worth a look which then Selvig repeats which this was really cool um i will say walking out of this movie i thought it was a cosmic cube totally different well not totally different

[01:56:13] the test erect ends up kind of doing what the cosmic cubes do um but um i definitely thought it was a different type of thing uh then it ended up being um which was kind of interesting but um

[01:56:28] the test erect ends up being a pretty big thing in the MCU and this is kind of our introduction to it yeah i think by this point time marvel has learned the formula for during the credits or at

[01:56:41] the end of the credits inserting what is basically a little little preview of the of what's to come in the MCU i enjoy this scene quite a bit and then I and then Loki's not that guys in ladies

[01:56:52] uh folks don't worry Loki's still alive I was mistaken earlier he did it well it's it's what Nick and I always say on bantama podcast that there's no explosion you don't know if the guys probably not dead

[01:57:05] sure he felt there was no explosion he just fell so he's got to be still alive which we find out after the credits i do love the fact that uh marvel has done this in every one of their movies like

[01:57:20] you sit through an hour and half or some of them you know close to three hours enjoy the entire movie but the only thing you talk about when you walk out is the post credits scene and what's

[01:57:31] coming up you're like oh my god can you believe it it's gonna be the test erect this is amazing and then i you know like i said too many times already i don't i didn't know what it was but i'm

[01:57:43] walking out behind people who are huge marvel fans and they're talking about what it actually was and i said to my son ago just thought it was like a blue square i'm like okay whatever

[01:57:54] it's uh it's fun you put onium yeah so it makes me laugh all the time that the first thing you talk about is the post credit scene and nothing about the entire movie that you just walked

[01:58:10] no fair good at that um and then this movie did actually have a one shot that goes along with it did either of you guys watch funny thing happen on the way to Thor's hammer i don't know

[01:58:20] so so on on um Disney plus they they released all the one shots which these were like DVD extras and they're they're a little four minute a cent today they'd be YouTube videos honestly

[01:58:35] they're they're a little like kind of fun little shorts about what's going on this one's really silly it's Colson on his way to Thor's hammer um and he stops at a gas station or rocks

[01:58:49] on gas station which is a fun little touch um he stops at a rocks on gas station to get his gas he goes in it's getting held up um and basically he just kicks the crap out of the people holding

[01:59:03] up the gas station um it's it's it's a really funny little like i say it's about four minutes long really fun kind of a little extra there i just put it pulled up on my phone right now it's

[01:59:16] was we're gonna have a little walk nice um so yeah that should do it for us for real now so again thank you all if you've listened through to this far i appreciate it uh we're going to

[01:59:27] come in short of two hours this time because the time code is not quite two hours and i have editing to do so i've made my promise of not a few hour episode ha take that later y'all
