[00:00:25] Hey there, Marvel fans! Welcome to the Monthly Bugle, the companion show to our MCU rewatch show Puny Pod on the show. We discuss all the MCU news which is Fit Deprints.
[00:00:37] We talk about the latest developments from our new MCU Magazine shows, casting announcements to trailers to release dates. Now unlike Puny Pod because we are discussing recent MCU developments, the show will get into movie and show spoilers so...
[00:00:53] You've all been warned. My name is David and I'm joined as always by my co-host Ryan. Well dude, dude, what's with you starting? Well you formed your new Union when on strike so I figured I had to start it off.
[00:01:10] I love it man, it's a nice little change of pace. It's fun. So I was good to mix it up a little bit. Hey by the way, I heard you sent me an out and said you're doing some cool Marvel related stuff.
[00:01:23] Let's go on with what's new with you. Yeah man, so unpaid for plug here. I got in touch with friends of the network, Concee ears. And I booked my very first Disney Cruise and where this gets to be Marvely and super fun. I'm super excited.
[00:01:49] So we are cruising on the wish next year, the Disney wish that has... So every Marvel or every Disney Cruise has three kind of highly themed dinners on it. And one of the three on the wish is Marvel themed.
[00:02:13] So you're helping Antman and the Wasp defend the ship from... I think it's hydrabots or something like that. Pretty excited. Yeah, it gets to do some cool Marvel stuff. And if the boy was a little bit older he would get to do some Marvel stuff.
[00:02:32] One of the kids clubs there is Marvel themed. I might just have to go in even though I don't have a kid over the right age just on the like... Still one? Hell stay. There we go. Yeah. Steel a kid.
[00:02:45] I'm just borrowing a kid and not saying that. Are these are the dinners, by the way, just take care of us. Are the dinners on different levels? Is that the thought?
[00:02:54] And like, okay, level one is the Marvel level two is the Disney characters or how does it work? I think they might be on different like floors of the ship or decks of the ship. So for my cruise it's a four night cruise.
[00:03:12] One night will be Marvel and the whole dining room is Marvel. Another night will be Aaron Dell so frozen themed, which is pretty cool. You know, from what I've seen it's actually a really fun thing and it's not super saccerny from what I've seen,
[00:03:28] which is really cool. And then one night will be Golden Age of Hollywood like 1920's steakhouse kind of themed, which that that one I'm really looking forward to as well. But that sounds like a good cruise. How long is your cruise for?
[00:03:46] It's four nights. So five days, four nights, head it down, we'll go through. We will stop it, NASA and stop it Disney's private island cast way key.
[00:03:57] Which is really cool. We thought about doing the Marvel day at sea because they actually have like a full cruise that's all Marvel themed, but I think they were all in January, which I was like, I don't know that I'm like,
[00:04:13] sure these are tropical areas, but I don't know that I want to be out on a boat in January. That just doesn't sound like my jam. Have you been on a cruise before?
[00:04:22] I have not. This will be very first one for both me and the wife and of course the child as well. Should be fun, report back, write it off on your taxes, right? Yeah, yeah, we'll have to do a whole shipper port or whatever.
[00:04:38] So definitely really stoked for that one. It's like a year, it's funny because I'm one of those people that get super excited once I decide on something and cruise is something that you have to plan way far out if you don't,
[00:04:52] you know, if you're not like planning a year out, you're paying even this cruise, which is about 11 months out. We had very few like state rooms to choose from. They were already largely booked.
[00:05:08] So it's one of those things you don't do last minute and which just kills me because I'm, if you guys hadn't figured this out yet listeners, I am hyper fixated on whatever the thing of the moment is.
[00:05:20] So I've spent the last week watching videos and walks of the shit and like trying also trying to temper. I'm not watching stuff about the Marvel restaurant. I'm looking at it's re looking at it's menu and that sort of thing,
[00:05:35] but I'm not like watching the show because I've heard there's some things that you don't want spoiled. So it's, it's an adventure for sure. Oh, it'd be interesting.
[00:05:47] I'm curious to know how like Marvel themed like the menu gets or you get like the hot guy skewers that are on like an arrow. Yeah, from what I saw it, so they have like the Sokovian treats, which is vaguely Eastern European inspired.
[00:06:05] You have what condin food, which is vaguely African inspired. And then I think you have like Captain America's beef tenderloin or something like that. Okay. Kind of throw back easy sort of stuff, but yeah. What should we find? I'm excited for you.
[00:06:25] That should be all have a great time. It should be a lot of fun. Heck yeah, heck yeah. Well not to drone on about my stuff too much, but what do you say we get into the news, David? Let us get into the news.
[00:06:36] Since I have no travel plans to announce, and I will live by carously. Three you rhyme. So the first time we travel, we travel to the same place. Let's be fair here. Let's be real. That's fair enough. We were, yeah, within days of each other.
[00:06:51] No, but it should be super fun. I've never done a Disney cruise. I know that some of the concierge folks talk about it. To be very highly of it. And so yeah, probably do something like that at some point.
[00:07:02] And time would be a lot of fun to end the news. Let's go to the news. So we are recording this on June 13th. The writers, Gil of America strike is continued. And unfortunately there isn't a lot of recent developments. As we talked about on the last show.
[00:07:22] The WGA strike, which affects all the screenwriters who could be to TV shows, movies, etc. I haven't been on strike since the beginning of May. Certain shows were not impacted like super division, which we'll talk about a little bit later.
[00:07:42] And other shows, which were already like post-production run impacted, other shows like Blade, Daredevil Born again, Waterman, all those have been pushed off if you will. And Ryan, you're going to talk about the delay schedule in a bit.
[00:07:57] But one of the quotes I thought was kind of interesting came from Scraught Jehance and who said, quote, whatever happens moving forward will forever change how revenue is determined. If you remember when the Black Widow came out and streaming in 2020,
[00:08:12] because of COVID restrictions, movie theaters, she filed lawsuit against Marvel claiming that she wasn't, she didn't get the full revenues that she wasn't entitled to. And so things like streaming, things like AI, draft, scripts, these are things that are in play right now.
[00:08:29] She said quote, it's a thing that has needed to happen for long time, that we've been talking about for a long time and it's finally reached the breaking point. It's important for all of us creatives, plural, to unite support this massive shift, so we can
[00:08:43] get over to the other side which we will. And so this is also interesting because there is the looming possibility that the screen actors guild, which will also go on strike. In fact last week, they voted at a 97.9% of the guild supported the authorization of a strike.
[00:09:05] And if contract talks are not resolved, they will go on strike at the end of June to June 30th. So, not much of a development from the WGA strike perspective, but the screen actors guild are throwing their support behind their union and brethren.
[00:09:23] And have also announced that they will go on strike if they're talks and numbers solved. So this will be really fascinating time to see how this resolves. So not a lot in terms of updates, but we'll continue to monitor this story going forward. Yeah, for sure.
[00:09:37] Yeah, it was interesting. I was watching TikTok yesterday the other day, some point. And Adam Kahn over popped up on their famously from like Adam runs everything and he was a college humor guy for a while.
[00:09:55] He's been doing a lot of coverage of the WGA strike and it was kind of funny because the video I happened upon of his was him shutting down a marble shoe. They went and they formed a picket line in front of the entrance to the marble shoe.
[00:10:12] And the teamsters, because the teamsters union has agreed not to cross any of the WGA picket lines. If there's an existing picket line, the teamsters won't cross that line. And so it's kind of funny. I was like, I have no idea what they were shooting.
[00:10:28] That wasn't like discussed. It was just something marble. But I was like, oh, right before we're about to do a new show, I'm watching literally live as Marvel stuff is getting shut down.
[00:10:41] Right. And so the I think the significance of this was there was at least at least for a period of time. And we'll talk about the delays in the second where, okay, we got the script done.
[00:10:51] We've got the rewrite done as long as it was post production, we were good good to go. Now this will obviously impact those shows which
[00:10:58] might have finished the script, but we're shooting right. So something you think of something that's got a script that you are not going to deviate from that will be put on a hall in production. So the stuff might shift a little bit more.
[00:11:11] Yeah, fair enough. Fair enough. Well, and speaking of shifts that that goes right into the big story which just just to correct real quick, David said we're recording on the 13th. We're actually recording on the 14th.
[00:11:26] This news broke on the 13th, which it's important, especially what's we get to the end of the episode. Because we're not predicting the future. But you know, here we are. So yeah, big, big shuffle with dates.
[00:11:46] And this stretched beyond just marvel this Disney announced a bunch of their dates. We're moving around the announced a release date for the Milano live action as part of this announcement they announced. They pushed avatars last movie avatars fifth movie back to 2030.
[00:12:07] There was some they slotted in where the new Star Wars movies that have been announced would end up, but you all are here to listen to stuff about Marvel.
[00:12:15] So let's boil it down to how it impacts the Marvel world. So I'm going to go through the list of movements and then I'll kind of go back in and give some some insights from what I see here.
[00:12:30] So Captain America brave new world was moved back about four months from previously being dated on five three. So May 3rd, 2024 to July 26th, 2024 Thunderbolts which is currently paused being filmed.
[00:12:57] And I will note here the ones that I have seen confirmation of being paused due to the strike. So Thunderbolts which is in the middle of filming and has been paused has been moved from July 26th, 2024, which is down a date held by Captain America brave new world it moves to December 2024.
[00:13:21] Blade which is also currently paused it has moved from September 6th, 2024 to February 14th, 2025 Valentine's Day. Now here's one that kind of bucks the trend a little bit and we had heard that this movie maybe was still filming during the strike.
[00:13:45] There was just some issues with improv and that sort of thing. The Deadpool movie that is currently untitled but you know we'll call it Deadpool 3 for the intense and purposes of this conversation. Deadpool 3 was previously slated for November 8th, 2024 has moved up to May 3rd, 2024.
[00:14:12] That's about a six month jump there. So it takes over Captain America's bot, Captain America takes over Thunderbolts bot and Thunderbolts moves to Christmas.
[00:14:22] Correct. Yeah. A couple of further out dates that moved around as well, fantastic four pushed off of Valentine's Day in 2025 which is now being held by blades of Blade pushed fantastic four.
[00:14:39] Fantastic four moves to five to so May 2nd, 2025 and then King Dynasty vacated May 2nd, 2025 to move a full year back to May 1st of 2026 which was previously held by secret ors. That also just like watching a new in-scrater that one also gets pushed back.
[00:15:08] By a full year. So secret wars moves from 2026 release to the beginning of May in 2027.
[00:15:18] So those are the facts. Those are kind of the rearranging here. So Deadpool moves up, takes Captain America's old spot, Captain America moves back, bumping back Thunderbolts and then Blade moves back, bumping back fantastic four.
[00:15:36] Now I wanted to talk a little bit about some analysis of this that I did. So something to keep in mind here is that beginning of May time slot end of April is a very important one in the MC.
[00:15:54] So to run through it, we had Iron Man releasing in 2008 in that time slot. We had Iron Man 2 in 2010, we had Thor in 2011, the Avengers in 2012 Iron Man 3 in 2013, Age of Maltron in 2015, Civil War in 2016, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 in 2017, Infinity War in 2018 end game in 2019, Multiverse of Madness in 2022 which you know,
[00:16:23] it did not turn that's maybe the blemish out of this full list, but I don't think Marvel expected it to be the blemish.
[00:16:33] And then Guardians of the Galaxy 3 this year in 2023 released in that early May just before free comic book day, which I don't think that's actually why they care, they care because this is when the box office is primed for the beginning of summer blockbusters.
[00:16:49] And so moving Deadpool into that slot and out of kind of a random Friday in November, I think signals to me some trust in Deadpool and some belief that it's going to make some money.
[00:17:11] Because Deadpool was not on a Thanksgiving release or anything it was literally just a random Friday in November. So moving it into kind of the prime spot for the year next year.
[00:17:22] I think that also is partially because it's still filming from everything I've seen so they trust that it's going to be done where they can't.
[00:17:33] Yeah, I think that's it. Like the Deadpool again in comparison to perhaps other properties is not going to take probably as much post production. Yeah and interesting the titles that you noted I would say of the ones you noted.
[00:17:50] At least six or eight of those are in the top ten. Yeah and so May has always been a very, very strong MCU month starting from Iron Man way back when and so I can see them saying okay well we have to move.
[00:18:04] If we have to move was it thunderbolt? No no it was I'm sorry if I had to move Captain America with pregnant world back out of that may slot we have to plug with something else and makes perfect sense I think that.
[00:18:20] They're pretty confident that Deadpool even if it's not like a plus superstar MCU film will do just fine. Yeah, I think you move brave new world into the middle of the summer in July and a July which isn't like it's not May.
[00:18:38] I didn't do all the research into what else had released and that slot for Marvel but you know it's still in the summer so it's still you know it's still kind of primed for a good take at the bottom of this thunderbolts moves to a Christmas release right which was previously open.
[00:18:56] So you know that's also usually a time where where you make some money. It's also weirdly also Oscar time so I don't know maybe they're gonna make an Oscar play with Thunderbolts.
[00:19:08] Thunderbolts is gonna just be the new dramatic film it's gonna like shove everything out of the way in terms of Oscar nominations. Exactly.
[00:19:18] The one that's weird to me is blade moving out of like spooky season right so it's in it's in septem was previously in like September which you're getting into fall you're getting in towards.
[00:19:30] You get a lot of horror movies released in September October which makes sense for blade and you move it on to Valentine's day which is which is a you know thematically a strange move I think it makes sense for.
[00:19:46] I don't remember the one that I remember last time was just put on. I thought there's their day was almost TBA but I mean I'm glad it has a date where it seems a little it's not your traditional you know what it is.
[00:20:07] And I February is black history month. Okay and so the blade being a black superhero they they've also released the black Panther movies in that that slot in that the February timeframe so it makes sense. Why they picked that I think.
[00:20:28] So are you saying that fantastic for is not an ethnically diverse kind of kidding. The other thing the fantastic for and he and Chris Evans tried to just erase that role. I'm the all the time.
[00:20:48] The one other thing that's kind of interesting is the shifting of the Captain America film could be a good luck charm because if you remember. I think that's one Captain America was supposed to be the second film and got bumped.
[00:21:03] I think there were some delays in terms of like casting and some other stuff and so it ended up not being the first film and the second film was supposed to be for Captain America go go go. And and it being incredible hook so.
[00:21:17] The other thing I did want to mention.
[00:21:20] As all this flashes out that that's a little bit interesting so in 2021 we there were four Marvel movies released that is the peak of it right we went from one or two a year up to three becoming pretty normal and then.
[00:21:39] And then we're in 2021 and we've kind of started going back down off of that three and 22 three slated for 23 right now. And then it's three slated for 24.
[00:21:53] Two slated for 25 and right now just one slated for 26 and 27 I would expect that they would add one more to each 26 and 27.
[00:22:05] And then we have a few projects that have been announced but don't have release dates there's armor wars which was previously a Disney plus series but they have converted to being a movie.
[00:22:17] There is a spider man for so another spider man with Tom Holland and then Shang-Chi to all have been announced but not don't have release dates announced yet. And then we would expect that those move into you know those three move into somewhere in 25 26 27.
[00:22:43] But I do wonder if they're going to back down to two projects a year with a lot of Disney plus because there's a ton of Disney plus going on. And so I wonder if they back out out of the movies a little bit.
[00:22:59] Especially as Disney's trying to like save some cash. Yeah, it's an interesting question like I think that you go back even to phase like three and they were banging out three movies a year. It was pretty, pretty consistent.
[00:23:15] You'd have early part of the year middle part kind of late summer right and got a little spoiled we all got a little spoiled on those really schedules.
[00:23:23] I think you're right. I think they've got a number of like unannounced projects that they will slot in it just it.
[00:23:31] The only you know the question in my mind will be like how much do those operate like standalone movies versus like oh this is actually building towards this larger MCU if you will.
[00:23:41] And unlike phase three we didn't have Disney plus back then right yeah and so this is now something where this is completely new.
[00:23:50] So it's maybe we should almost look at like how many how many titles or how many properties are released per year because it seems like you fact around the Disney plus stuff. We've been getting pretty spoiled me getting quite a bit.
[00:24:04] Yeah, I think if you look at content hours we've you know take all the the episodes of TV take all the movies. Yeah, you got enough to make a podcast about. Get it get out.
[00:24:21] But no, and that's the reality you know for the listener David and I have been we we track. I have a whole spreadsheet built out of like what are episodes are going to be.
[00:24:34] And right now just with what's released and this is without splitting up the TV shows this is like we would binge the TV shows in a month which there's there's no way we're going to do that.
[00:24:45] But if we were even with binging the Disney plus TV shows all in a month and. Going through that we're still I think we have like a four year runway on the podcast right now. That's just how much content is out there.
[00:25:03] I thought for a second you're going to say hey man I've been tracking how many hours on Disney plus and I was about to get super weird out but.
[00:25:12] Clad that you don't because it's been way too much by the way Disney plus Disney you're losing money on me and Ryan like there should be like some sort of tear like. I'm definitely getting my money's worth. I don't know about you but we're probably a typical.
[00:25:28] I'm probably the typical viewer so. So one of the one of the properties you talked about was the fourth Captain America film. And that is scheduled you said that's coming out July 2024 correct.
[00:25:46] So little little over the little more than a year from now but you had some more updates to share about the film. Yeah so this update it's kind of funny this update actually came out like days before all of this. Restructuring came out.
[00:26:06] Anthony Mackie posted to his Instagram he posted a picture of him looks like taking a lesson from Harrison Ford with the caption of when Harrison Ford tells you how kicking language should look. You listen. So this confirms the rumors and they were it was nearly confirmed already anyways.
[00:26:33] But it confirms that that Harrison Ford will be take role of general Ross played by the late William hurt prior to his passing.
[00:26:46] So really excited to see Harrison Ford join in I know we're a week out from Indiana Jones coming out so Harrison Ford's kind of a moment right now. You know I mean I will say this just from a moment.
[00:27:01] I'm really I'm really glad that guy found that guy is break you know after struggling with this so many years independent films and you know character roles and you think he went back to like hanging. Hanging cabinets and a theme point absolutely yeah with that question right.
[00:27:22] For those who don't know that story that's that's how Harrison Ford was like discovered and then put in American graffiti first was he was hanging. cabinets, I want to say it Francis Ford Copa's house and Spielberg was there. And was like, oh look at this.
[00:27:41] Or yeah, or took us. Yeah, Lucas or Spielberg, I forget which one was there. This one of those old dudes. And they, I made me fall famous for right? Famous story. Like, no, I mean, good on I am, I let Harrison Ford. I grew up with Harrison Ford.
[00:28:01] I am excited to see my name's you. I love the Indian Jones ride, love all of it. Star Wars M in for it. The Thunderbolt Ross character, it'll be interesting to see his spin on it. I never like, I think we talked about one of the prior shows.
[00:28:16] I'm like, we haven't heard quite did it from any of these coming across. And it was character with the gruff, you know, angry general Thunderbolt Ross, I think, in the comics, becomes president at some point in time.
[00:28:28] I think maybe my perspective might have been skewed by the incredible Hulk movie, which I didn't love. But be excited to see Harrison Ford. Yeah, yeah. So I'm super excited. Couple things that also came out in the same picture. The new name of this was announced.
[00:28:48] So you may have noticed when we were talking about Captain America, referred to it as Brave New World. That is a new name. If you're sitting there going, I thought that had a different name. Yes, it was New World Order.
[00:28:59] That name, they changed from New World Order to Brave New World with this post from Anthony Mackie. And then Marvel's follow up coverage of this also covered a few names that would be joining the cast. So Carl Lumbly will be returning as Isaiah Bradley, which is really exciting.
[00:29:23] He was great in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. And definitely create some depth to the Super Soldier mythos. And then Danny Ramirez will be returning as walking Torres. Rumors I've seen are that he's going to take up the mantle of Falcon.
[00:29:44] So he was kind of the sidekick in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. So the rumors right now is he's going to pick up the vacated Falcon moniker that Anthony Mackie's now captain America has left behind. And then the last one, as we mentioned from the Hulk 2008,
[00:30:17] it was confirmed that he will be returning as Dr Samuel Sterns with Mr Tim Blake Nelson. So that was from the Hulk in 2008, that was Mr Blue. We saw him get a little bit of gamma stuff and his head probably to become the leader.
[00:30:37] So really excited to see him come back. There's also been some set photos of everyone's favorite. MCU actress, live Tyler has also been seen on set of the Captain America brave new world. Do you think when live Tyler in Tim Blake Nelson signed their deals?
[00:31:04] He said hey, you've got two picture deals and they did the first one. And they're just checking their AOL email every day. Like where's the email from Marvel to come out and shoot the next one?
[00:31:16] Maybe live, maybe live but I mean Tim Blake Nelson gets work that day. That guy does some good work so. But I could also completely see him with an AOL account. I am personally, I'm personally very interested and excited for Captain America for
[00:31:37] the screenplay is written by Malcolm Spellman who was the showrunner for Falcon the Winter Soldier. And I went to high school with him. So shut up. Well let's get out on the bar. I think I can't lie. I went up to like. But I also hated him so.
[00:32:00] No, no, we still challenge. He's super cool. He'd be fantastic but it'd be like, wait, what's the name here? So we're just going to have to tell them that we're like new rock stars or something. And just like, liar way through. But I'm looking forward to it.
[00:32:18] There's a lot of, I think we're going to see, you know, speculation has already occurred that we're going to see Harrison for this red Hulk, which I think is cool. His jeans were tattered. So in the picture that got posted to Instagram, Harrison for
[00:32:34] his jeans were noticeably tattered, which does lead one down the path of a Hulk transfer. Transformation. And he does not strike me as a fraid jeans kind of dude. I don't know. Uh, Valentina Lager de Fontaine, Rodee are also rumored to be in it. So I'm glad.
[00:32:57] And you know, while I am bummed that the WGA strike and potentially the the sag strike might impact the dates of this film and other properties, I am excited that they're taking their time and building it. And I think that Malcolm, I think he started writing for it
[00:33:15] pretty much after Falcon winner soldiers. So I think they'll have a pretty good solid ideas to what they're doing. So I like that they're planning for it. I'm looking forward to it. You know, we're ways away, but I loved, I'd love as a Brad this character in Falcon.
[00:33:31] And so I'm excited to see more of him as well. Yeah, for sure, for sure. Um, so David, I think you had one last little bit of of of news and we're going to spend some yarn
[00:33:43] and make it a big thinking news, something about scar, scarjo and working on some things. We've got, yeah, there's a couple things. Um, we talked a little bit about Disney Plus next week comes out the secret invasion show, which will be a really good watch.
[00:33:59] We'll probably nerd out on a little bit. Um, might even do like a live watch, perhaps. I could figure out how to do that. I don't know if you'll all do that. So probably won't happen, but um, looking forward to that Samuel Jackson Ben Menmelson,
[00:34:13] you know, it's, it's a little bit of a continuation of some of the story we saw in Captain Marvel. Uh, but I'm really interested. I saw the, I just watched the latest trailer again today for like the um, teens of time. It's going to be really good.
[00:34:29] And I saw the last thing what's is, I saw, um, I saw critical reviews that did not spoil anything, but they said it sounded like the Marvel version of the end door. And oh, yeah, let's go. Let's do this. Oh, yeah, that sounds really cool.
[00:34:45] Yeah, so um, I did not read this secret invasion, comic book storyline. Brian, you said you had not read it either. Uh, I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out. I'm kind of excited for, I love Samuel Jackson. I'm also kind of excited to see Colonel Rhodes,
[00:35:05] Rodey to have like a big role since most of the time he's usually like the background character, whether it's in one of the Captain American movies or Iron Man movies or even Falcon Winter Soldier. I saw it, I'm going in completely blind. So that I'm looking forward to.
[00:35:21] Yeah, I'm, I'm pretty excited. I'm excited to see Colby Smolders return as agent from A-Jump for Real Hill. Yeah, super excited for that. Um, always a big Robin Shabotsky fan. So, you know, glad to see her back. Let's see here. I, so TLDR of the secret invasion storyline.
[00:35:45] I haven't read it all the way through. I have read bits and pieces of it. Um, I should. I have Marvel and Limited. I just need to sit down and read it.
[00:35:55] Um, but um, the, the, the TLDR of it is the scroll that we know from Captain Marvel, the kind of refugees who are, you know, their, their friendly to humans. Those are not all the scrolls in the universe.
[00:36:19] And so there are scrolls coming to earth and imitating people. Um, and, and shapeshifting and killing, uh, killing high ranking people and taking their place in the world. Yadayada yada yada. Uh, and so you, there is a lot on the table of like who could be there, right?
[00:36:41] I, I think in the comics, the scrolls quote unquote revived some people. Um, so i'm going to put, I'm going to put the, the long shot out there right now. I'm putting the long, I'm, I'm pointing right now. You guys can't see this, but i'm doing.
[00:36:58] Uh, I'm calling you shot. I'm calling you. I'm going to say Tony Stark's going to be a, there's, there's going to be a scroll Tony Stark at some point. Oh, I was good dude. I was going to ask you who in the last movie watched the adventures.
[00:37:12] If you had to pick someone to be a scroll, Tony Stark. That's a good call. I like it. Yeah, he died on the battlefield right? Who does the world even know that, while yes,
[00:37:24] World knows Tony Stark's dead because we have the murals that we saw in Captain, or in Spider-Man and stuff. But yep. Okay, let me ask you this, who would you be most afraid of if they were a scroll, like think of powerful character
[00:37:39] They're like, oh crap, this person's a scroll. I'm going to take Scarlett Witch. Yeah. Yeah, Scarlett Witch is one of those ones where like the movies just, a multiverse of madness started to get at it, but she is infinitely powerful.
[00:37:58] Like in the comic books, she literally said no more mutants and there were no more mutants. Like she just demuted the world. Um, she earned control over reality as insane. So if, if a scroll got that, oh my gosh, yeah, we'd be done.
[00:38:22] I watched a, maybe this way to link to it in the show notes, but I watched a new rock star as video where M.T. was talking up was reviewing secret invasion and talking about all like not necessarily primary characters, but interesting secondary characters if they were scrolls.
[00:38:41] And I was just like, okay, I'm just so amped up at right for this show. Oh yeah, and that's the cool thing as I've heard about the comics are read in a few of the ones that I've read
[00:38:52] where like it's not always Iron Man or Captain America, but it's you know, maybe it's Peggy who can influence Captain America or certain way or it's pepper, yeah. She was another one, another great scroll. Yeah, great ones. Basically it's the people who can influence the people in power.
[00:39:11] Yeah, yeah. So I'm looking forward to it. I don't want to, I don't want to read anything more about it. I don't want to see any reviews. It's going to suck once a week is going to suck.
[00:39:23] Like I remember watching, I don't know if you remember, remember watching like one division and then just like, oh, come on. Another week seriously. See, and that's one of those funny things I so I could nerd out on this for a while,
[00:39:38] but I really believe that shows are written with their release schedule in mind these days. So for example, stranger things releases and now in two parts per season, right? So they released one part. Usually that has a pretty big cliffhanger at the end and then the next one.
[00:39:58] And I think it's written, they write it and they shoot it in such a way that it is meant for that. Because there's a lot of people who go, oh, I'll just wait, right? I'll wait till it's all out and then I'll binge it.
[00:40:11] You know, but the writers write with the release schedule in mind from my estimation, from my belief, right? They write with the release schedule in mind. It's a more rich experience and it's the more intended experience. If you're watching it, however it's released, right?
[00:40:30] Echo will be released all in one shot here at the end of the year. And that one may be less so that they expected it to maybe they didn't write it this way, but. I think they wrote, I think the release is side tension.
[00:40:46] I think they're releasing Echo all at once and farward of gas. And I'm just calling my shot here, maybe because it didn't test out great. Yeah. And they just want to like get past like any kind of negative press around it. I hope it's great.
[00:41:01] You know, here and I think next time we'll kind of talk a little bit about like some of the. Complex between like the story creators and the studio and how there might be in some cases a little bit too much
[00:41:14] Tinkering and over involvement and how that impacts the overall product, but you hope that it's all great. One last product product project projects. I could well, I can speak words. One last project to notes. There was a little news article.
[00:41:30] It was a little bit, I'm going to call this a slow news month because there's nothing to be written or. Pretty soon, something to be anything that's being acted. But Scarlett Johansson confirmed that she and Kevin Fyke are producing a quote.
[00:41:46] Non black widow related top secret Marvel studios projects. She was quoted saying, it's still happening, but not currently because nothing is happening right now. We're all sort of in this holding pattern as we wait out the writer strike and potentially our own guild strike.
[00:42:04] So what to be known? So we know that Scarlett Johansson is done playing the black widow. She said that before she was on saw that she was on a quinoff. I didn't listen to it, but I saw that she was on quinoff.
[00:42:17] Pulse was podcast and said, I'm not, I'm not doing that role anymore. The project is not listed in phase five or six anywhere. Now this could be one of the ones that gets cited in Ryan like you said earlier, that he kind of get dropped in.
[00:42:31] We also don't know if she's producing an MC movie. It does plus series. A Disney plus documentary or a special presentation we don't know. So I will ask you, you've got Kevin Fyke and Scarlett Johansson producing. Let's assume because it's unreleased. We don't know any details about it.
[00:42:55] Let's say it is an unattached standalone single property. It could be a movie, it could be Disney plus dream into existence. Something that's time of stand-alone. What would you want it to be? Hmm, so I'm going to discount the documentary route because I think that that's too easy.
[00:43:16] You know, she's making a making of black widow. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's too easy. Let's discount that one. So we're looking at a feature length movie, a series or a special presentation, which special presentation for those who haven't seen them. Or haven't seen it yet.
[00:43:39] I think there's only one of them. I'm trying to remember if there's any other, the only one that I can think of Chris and Swarth. Chris, no, he's on. No, his is on, just got free. Oh, oh, you're talking about limitless the, yeah.
[00:43:55] That is on Disney plus, but there is an MCU special presentation, which is Where Wolf by Knight. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, these last year. It's not quite a feature length film. It also didn't become a series.
[00:44:10] It's just it's a little thing and it's actually really good. By the way, if you if you slept on a little by night by night, go watch it. It is a fantastic little thing. It's super entertaining. It's super entertaining.
[00:44:24] And let's also presume for a second that this is a real project. My first, when I first read it, my cynical side said, oh, this was part of the settlement that she'll get to be the EP on some sort of project.
[00:44:36] And make up some of the revenue that she lost on the streaming thing. I'm sure that's part of it. But, um, so if you could take a comic book, a story line,
[00:44:46] characters were not seen. Maybe something for 20th century Fox and let's say she and Fyke are going to do a standalone story or thing like what would you want to see? Yeah, I think. So saying it's kind of a broad question.
[00:45:04] But yeah, yeah, so saying it's not Black Widow related kind of does does throw, you know, something out. Like let's throw out Black Widow related. So it's not going to be the Disney plus series about Budapest that we wanted. Oh, that'd be really good though.
[00:45:24] Oh, it's a very cool. Like, did you imagine Black Widow and Hawkeye Disney plus series? Just really about them being super spies. That would be so bad. Language maybe they just back up, back up the truck of money and says, hey, here's a deal.
[00:45:43] Sorry, we screwed you over with the Black Widow and streaming it and simply in theaters. Um, that's a good call. I'm going to call this code, what just to get to the point, because I tried to delay it to give myself time to think.
[00:45:57] I'm going to say a West Coast Avengers TV series. Like a TV, that's a great call. So we're the West Coast Avengers. So West Coast Avengers? Yeah, West Coast Avengers. It's the team has varied over the years. Typically, it was an offshoot. Yeah, it was an offshoot.
[00:46:18] I started to say Captain America, which is absolutely incorrect. I should have my Marvel card revoked for that. And you guys can hear me typing in the background because I am trying to make sure I don't miss anyone.
[00:46:32] But usually, you had like Iron Man and Hawkeye and War Machine. I'm trying to think who else I saw show up in it. I think Hank Pim showed up in it for a while. Tigra, mockingbird, right? Yeah, I think today's West Coast Avengers would be New Hawkeye.
[00:47:00] So Kate Bishop Hawkeye. Yep. Um, midnight. Yep, I agree. I think Moon Knight would join it. I think maybe, man. Language. I'll have to language that part out. Okay. Um, yeah, I think Hawkeye would be your man in the chair. Like not Kate Bishop Hawkeye, but. Yeah.
[00:47:27] Main or Jeremy Renner Hawkeye. He would be your your man in the chair. He'd be kind of the guy that gives them their missions. He'd be your Charlie of Charlie's Angels. He'd be your, oh, Tyler your offense. He'd be your professor X, right? Yeah. Exactly.
[00:47:46] That's a good call. That's a, that's a, okay, we can nerd out on what on Avengers. No, for a long time. The one, okay, so this is kind of, I, when I first saw this, I was like, What, would she, so I wonder, I'm DB,
[00:48:00] I was like, you know, I looked at some of her causes and something. She's interested in, and I didn't realize like she had a, for a while, like she dabbled in music quite a bit. So I would like for to make a musical. Some sort of MCU musical.
[00:48:16] Um, I'd say probably a, probably a movie because I don't know if it would support series, but something, it's like not quite, you know, analogous to, but not maybe not the same as like Rogers and musical. Something fun, light, you know, I think it'd be super fun.
[00:48:34] Yeah, that would, yeah, that'd be super super fun. Boota past the musical. Um, Boota. Oh, it's done it. Done it. We're done. Strike over. We're sitting at Scarjo. We showed up on some podcasts. So we know you show up on podcasts. Come, come to this one.
[00:48:52] We'll write it with you. Who'd have passed the musical? I love it so much. That's how, that, that's how Clint remembers Boota Pesh is as a music. That's not however. Remember, music.
[00:49:05] Um, so if, if P, it folks have any, um, if any of that is hit us up on email or social media. Yeah, I should mention before we get off this topic because I'm scrolling through like who's been on the the West Coast Avengers.
[00:49:22] Um, and one of the most recent versions of it in 2019. Um, Jeff the baby land shark joined. Um, the West Coast Avengers and for anybody who is unfamiliar with Jeff the baby land shark. Look up. Look at Bob.
[00:49:40] It is the perfect mix between a puppy and a shark and that sounds grow task but like, Oh my gosh, he is adorable and I love when he shows up in the comics because he's basically this little puppy version of a shark and it's, it's great.
[00:49:57] Uh, so look up Jeff the baby land shark listeners and do yourself that favor but. Um, but yeah, so so I think that does a lot of our news except for some late breaking news here.
[00:50:12] Um, David before I get on to our last news story that broke literally. 12 hours before we're recording anything else before we, we jump onto that. Nope.
[00:50:23] All right. Well, in some sad news. Um, unfortunately this is two monthly vehicles in a row where we have to address some kind of sad news. Um, but today at the age of 93 John Ramita senior past. He is famously a marble comics artist.
[00:50:47] Um, if you have ever seen the, um, The comic book cover that is Spider-Man's wedding. There's kind of a big Spider-Man. There's like a heart with Spider-Man's face in it. Uh, and he's at the altar with Mary Jane.
[00:51:05] Uh, John Ramita or John Ramita senior drew that his son John Ramita junior is also a famous artist for. Um, and, and did a lot of work for marble.
[00:51:16] Um, the other one that the other comic book cover that comes to mind when you hear John Ramita senior's name is the Spider-Man no more cover where this was a story line where Peter had. Um, put aside the, the mantle of Spider-Man.
[00:51:33] He was no longer going to be Spider-Man. He'd become public and, um, John Ramita seniors artwork is phenomenal. It is synonymous with kind of that Spider-Man work of the, the mid 60s.
[00:51:53] Um, that like mid 60s to the 80s kind of Spider-Man look is if you look at any of those comics, John Ramita senior probably had some hand in it. Um, really his, his work is iconic. Uh, he kind of picked up Spider-Man after Steve Dickco left Spider-Man.
[00:52:16] So, yep. Um, definitely sad. He again, he was 93 lived a very full life, you know, but still sad for the family. And he will certainly be a force that is missed. Yeah, yeah, I remember reading his, uh, remember reading comic books that he drew for and then it's
[00:52:37] Sunlight of drew for. He, I see was originally in, um, he was a ghost artist for Tom Lekomix in 1949. And co-creator characters, Mary Jane Watson, the Punisher Wolverine and Luke Cage. So, you know, big, uh, made a big impression I think most folks don't know.
[00:52:55] And then, uh, I think, uh, I think, uh, I think, uh, I think that's probably, um, uh, I think that's probably, um, in an upcoming movie where we see Luke Cage Wolverine and Punisher, uh, over magic and lots and hopefully gets a little,
[00:53:05] little props as one of the creators. Yeah, for sure, for sure. Um, but to end us on a happy note, David, you want to, you want to sing happy birthday, do you want to say happy birthday?
[00:53:17] Uh, I mean, I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna, I'm not, I'm all apart. So, just as a fly-eye for folks today is the 14th of the same messed up earlier, but yesterday June 13th was the, uh, anniversary of the release of the 2008 film The
[00:53:37] Credible Hulk released on June 13th, 2008. Clearly in the content, uh, Marvel movie. It is, it is the, okay, it is the number one, oh, standalone Hulk movie of all time. It is the number one, uh, Edward Norton, Marvel movie of all time. There we go.
[00:54:02] And, um, you know, there's some positive things like the whole thing. I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna put it out there right now. The Credible Hulk will not be the lowest rated film that we watched. The lowest ranked film that we watched.
[00:54:14] You know, you have control over that. So, you're, you're probably gonna agree. We're both going to agree. I can think of a couple right now that are not... Anyway, I, anyway, happy birthday in Credible Hulk.
[00:54:28] Uh, it was fun rewatching you, probably a little while before we watch you again, but, I've heard that. You know, it is, it is cool to see them take incredible, whole things and bring them back, right?
[00:54:40] them back, right? We were talking about, you know, general raw state consistent through that through the MCU. Just last month we went to Avengers Campus where they had Pingle Dolce which is which was featured heavily in that movie. We just talked about Tim Blake Nelson returning as leader
[00:55:05] presumably the leader, uh, live Tyler. He's coming back. Yeah. Hopefully she's taken some acting classes in the meantime. Wow. That's not the final of Tyler like she's getting money. I, you know, she's getting paid. Good for her.
[00:55:26] Kiffer, I don't know how they write her back in. I don't know how if she was like Nick Fury on another planet for a while, but whatever. There's, uh, there's some gross
[00:55:38] sight of me that's thinking about what phase one would have looked like and like had this happened in phase one and it's like scarjo and like the whole and live Tyler had the argument overhaul can
[00:55:52] tell us. Phase one review. Phase one review. We just come up with plot lines of how to ruin the MCU. Like one after I heard on like what if they screwed up the what if we screwed up the MCU phase one?
[00:56:06] Anyway, maybe the hair and the hair and the hair. But yeah. So so definitely, you know, it's exciting. You know, the MCU is aging right and we just saw Iron Man turn 15 a couple weeks ago. Really excited about that.
[00:56:24] So it's wild to say that the MCU can almost drive. They're all grown up. Yep. Oh, but happy birthday Hulk. Um, so to to round us out, remember to check out our social media,
[00:56:47] we're peony pod, PUNY, POD across all of your media of choice. Join us on the discord. I saw David jumped on there finally over on the years up discord. It's in the show now. It's every week.
[00:57:01] Also listen to the other shows on the network. I will be appearing. Um, actually. Oh, oh, you guys are listening to this on Tuesday. If you're listening to a day of release, you're listening to this
[00:57:11] on Tuesday, the 20th. Um, so if you are listening to this on the day of release, go listen to go watch live. Well, I am appearing on years up podcast. So I will be on
[00:57:29] years up podcast and I don't hesitate to call out the main show because it's I mean, it's the name of the network, but let's just say I don't know that it's getting the most downloads out
[00:57:38] of the network. Um, but go go check out years up on Thursday, the 20 second. I will be appearing on there. I'll be talking about park stuff. So if you're strictly a Marvel fan, you know,
[00:57:53] and you don't, you're not a Ryan fan, no pressure. But I'll be talking about how to hack Genie plus. Uh, so that should be a really fun. Um, also appearing in there will be Eric Erick's on that show
[00:58:08] every week, but he also has a segment. Uh, so it's going to be an Eric and Ryan show. So the same people you guys just heard on Avengers last month, uh, you get to hear talk there. Um, and then
[00:58:21] also coming out soon. I don't know how much of this I'm supposed to say. This is not a show that's on the network. But the hub crawl, uh, if you listen to the hub crawl for the next two months,
[00:58:33] you may be hearing some familiar voices a lot. Uh, so that that's going to be really fun. Also on our network, we have Bantamilk about Star Wars. We have Stripe in the Vault about straight
[00:58:45] to video Disney sequels. We have the spring resort, uh, which is actually the main show on the network, uh, that is a land versus worlds. So Disneyland versus Disney World, it's super
[00:59:02] in depth. If you guys like how we do our movie stuff, even if you're not a park fan, you'll probably find some enjoyment in, uh, Supreme Resort. They, they're really in depth with that. Uh, they look
[00:59:13] as, they make us look cool. And then, um, and then yeah, the name sake of the network ears up on the ears up feed, there's also in depth, which is basically where we got the inspiration for
[00:59:26] this show you're listening to right now. It's a new show about the Disney parks. So about the Disney company as a whole, I guess, is how it kind of boils down. Um, so yeah, lots of shows on
[00:59:37] their network go check them out. Um, but thank you guys for listening. Um, make sure you check out your feed in a couple weeks. We will have an episode out. This is going to be different. It's not a
[00:59:49] movie breakdown. Uh, it is a phase review. So, uh, David and I were still working out the details actually that's literally what we're going to do right after this. We're going to go into planning mode
[01:00:00] and we're going to come up with some plans for what, um, that's going to look like but it's it's going to be some sort of phase review, probably involving our MVPs and fish. My bring out
[01:00:12] the facial hair rankings from the secret show, um, into the main show. So, um, that should be a really good time. Uh, do funnels and obtsis, funnels and obtsis for sure. Yeah. And it's same. I would
[01:00:26] be coming to watch a movie this month. That's so funny. I just just watched Iron Man 3. That's fair. In preparation. Um, no, but like I said, if you, if you have to catch this on day one,
[01:00:38] catch out, catch Ryan and others on YouTube on the main show. Right? Yep. Um, and that's where you can watch them. What time is it air? Uh, 7 PM Pacific? I want to say 8 PM Pacific because it's
[01:00:54] always late for me here in Mountain. I think it's 8 PM Pacific. Um, show notes really bad about promoting it. So I'll do my best to let you all, and we are socials. Cool. Cool guys. Uh,
[01:01:10] but yeah, thank you all again for listening. And as we always say at the end of these, actually David, you started a stop. You finished us. Oh, God, the pressure is on. Uh, thank you folks, listen, for listening. And uh, if we always say enough said, not said.
