One drink per location. The whole Disney universe is on the board. This episode was supposed to come out September 10th. It is October 8th. Life got full, energy got short, and the editing queue got longer than a 60-minute wait for Radiator Springs. It's here now. Drink up.
This episode of Fantasyland Draft League, Ryan and co-host David are joined by two guests who know their way around a Disney property drink menu: Olivia (@liv_the_magic) and Marie (@Land_World_Sea_With_Marie), co-hosts of Spokes on the Hub Crawl network. The topic: drinks across the entire Disney universe. The rule: one drink per location. At least three picks must come from the Disneyland Resort. Everything else is fair game.
Olivia opens with what is perhaps the most expected first pick in FDL history and then immediately gets unpredictable from there, eventually landing in Hawaii. Marie opens with a quantity play that nobody else thought of, attempts to sneak in a seasonal off-menu item in round two and gets immediately rejected by the table, and still manages to build one of the most coherent teams of the draft. David comes in prepared, goes deep into the history of a classic cocktail nobody asked for, and somehow ends up at Disneyland Paris. Ryan admits upfront he is not well-versed in Disneyland booze, nearly drafts a $5,000 drink, and ultimately does exactly what Ryan does.
Should Disneyland expand its alcohol footprint beyond its current six locations? Is a beer flight one pick or four? And how is it possible that the Infinity Gauntlet martini set does not come in a flight?
The draft spans five continents of the Disney universe, the debate about Disneyland Dubai gets surprisingly detailed, and the locally sourced ice at Carthay Circle Lounge becomes a running joke nobody planned for. Also David has an announcement. It involves the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail and eight episodes.
It's a month late and worth every day of the wait. Probably.
Listen, choose your winner, and join the conversation.
New episodes drop the second Thursday of every month. Allegedly.
