Right now, it's cheaper to go to Tokyo Disneyland than it is the Disneyland in Anaheim, which sounds wild but it's true! Well, true enough to have our good friend Paul (Mr. P) on the show to tell us about his recent trip to Japan. Paul gave himself and his party 3 weeks to plan a trip to a Disney Park he'd never been to, and he gives us a ton of tips and pointers that he picked up by scouring the internet for hours and hours.

[00:00:02] It's time for the show that brings the magic right to your speakers.
[00:00:11] What's going on everybody? EarzUp Podcast for our first show in December.
[00:00:16] And actually, it's historically our last show in December as well.
[00:00:20] We only really do one show in the month of December.
[00:00:24] We actually get a break. We get one show break.
[00:00:26] And that's about all we deserve.
[00:00:29] And I'm okay with that, I suppose.
[00:00:31] I don't know. I got enough shows going on in my life.
[00:00:33] I don't need to stress about the Christmas episode of this show.
[00:00:37] So, this is the only show you're getting in December.
[00:00:39] We're going to, of course, have a secret show which we're recording later on tonight.
[00:00:42] We are back to the two-for-one special.
[00:00:46] Which we haven't done in a very long time.
[00:00:47] And I'm nervous about it.
[00:00:49] I'm nervous about it.
[00:00:51] You know, because I already have a beer in front of me.
[00:00:54] But it's going to be good. It's going to be a good show today.
[00:00:57] In case you don't know, if you just clicked on the podcast.
[00:01:00] You're like, oh, what do these weirdos have to say?
[00:01:03] Today, we're going to be learning about how to plan a trip to Tokyo Disneyland properly.
[00:01:08] And with our very special guest, Mr. P.
[00:01:11] Mr. P., welcome to Ears Up Podcast.
[00:01:14] Hey, thank you. Thanks for having me.
[00:01:16] What's going on, man? Yeah, of course.
[00:01:18] Well, thanks for doing all the work for me.
[00:01:19] I appreciate you doing work for me.
[00:01:23] Going on vacation and having a good time is a lot of hard work.
[00:01:26] Well, look, man, I'm not going to do it.
[00:01:29] So, you've got to be the one to do it.
[00:01:31] It's got to be you, baby.
[00:01:32] So, yeah, you went to Tokyo Disney.
[00:01:35] And, you know, I'm like, dude, we should do a show.
[00:01:37] And you're like, yeah, whatever.
[00:01:39] And you were telling me that it is.
[00:01:42] And I've since confirmed this because I don't listen to just one news source.
[00:01:46] You know what I mean?
[00:01:46] I'm not one of those people.
[00:01:48] It is cheap.
[00:01:49] You should only listen to me.
[00:01:50] That's right.
[00:01:51] It is cheaper to go to Tokyo Disney than it is to go for us to go to Disneyland.
[00:01:56] For us in California who would drive there, it's cheaper.
[00:02:01] And I don't like that.
[00:02:02] I don't like that at all.
[00:02:04] I think that's bad.
[00:02:06] Bad news.
[00:02:07] Unless you want to go to Japan, in which case it's perfect news.
[00:02:09] So, we're going to go through all the tips and tricks that Mr. P learned in doing research for his trip.
[00:02:14] Because I think you were telling me when you were planning it, you're like, there's not a whole lot of really like information out there about it.
[00:02:21] Right?
[00:02:21] There really isn't.
[00:02:23] It's kind of shocking how little information there is other than like three people.
[00:02:29] Which is a little scary, as you just said.
[00:02:31] Yeah.
[00:02:32] You want a couple news sources.
[00:02:34] You want a couple news sources, man.
[00:02:35] So, we're going to be those a couple news sources for you guys.
[00:02:38] We're going to go through all that.
[00:02:39] Hell yeah.
[00:02:39] That would be great.
[00:02:40] That would be a good time, everybody.
[00:02:42] Eric is not joining us today.
[00:02:44] He had some stuff to take care of.
[00:02:46] So, Eric, he might dip in later.
[00:02:48] I don't know.
[00:02:49] He might also be here for the secret show.
[00:02:51] I'm not sure.
[00:02:52] He's like, look, I just got this and this going on.
[00:02:54] I said, look, here's the links to everything.
[00:02:56] Join in if you want.
[00:02:57] If not, then don't worry about it.
[00:02:58] It's totally fine.
[00:02:59] And he's like, yeah, thanks, man.
[00:03:00] What are you going to do?
[00:03:01] So, you know, in order for me to guilt trip you, I'd have to pay you.
[00:03:06] And I'm not doing that.
[00:03:07] So, therefore, I'm going to be a nice guy.
[00:03:10] I'll try not to take offense from Eric.
[00:03:12] Yeah, please don't.
[00:03:13] He needs all the fences he can get, I guess, or something like that.
[00:03:17] He needs to close his yard, man.
[00:03:19] He needs to learn how to fence.
[00:03:21] I'll tell you that.
[00:03:22] And Taryn, of course, will be joining us shortly.
[00:03:24] She's, you know, doing mom stuff.
[00:03:25] So, you know, it's just P and I, man.
[00:03:28] It's just the boys.
[00:03:28] We're running loose, baby.
[00:03:29] The boys.
[00:03:30] Let's go.
[00:03:31] So, if you're planning to go to the American parks, and I wish Eric was here right now
[00:03:35] because I'm not entirely sure.
[00:03:37] I don't think that Concierge, you go to concierge.com.
[00:03:39] I don't know that they do Tokyo Disney at all, but they definitely do the domestic park.
[00:03:44] So, if you're thinking about going to Tokyo Disney, but you don't want to, you know, mess
[00:03:48] up any plans you might have for 2025 to go to some of the domestic parks, hit up concierge.com.
[00:03:53] You go there.
[00:03:54] You give them your itinerary.
[00:03:55] They book everything for you.
[00:03:57] You don't have to do a single thing except pay.
[00:04:01] Which is the best part.
[00:04:02] You know, it's like, okay.
[00:04:03] What I love doing about vacation is, and I'm not even joking, it's like booking stuff.
[00:04:09] Because you feel accomplished.
[00:04:10] You have a list in your head of like, okay, here's what we got to do.
[00:04:13] We got to go, you know, we got to book an airfare.
[00:04:16] But we also got to see if hotels are available.
[00:04:19] Then we got to get park reservations or whatever.
[00:04:20] Then we have to make sure we can afford it.
[00:04:22] So, then we have to go rob the neighbors when they're gone.
[00:04:24] And we have to sell fentanyl in order to, with the whole thing, right?
[00:04:27] And so, once you have everything paid for, it's accomplished.
[00:04:30] So, concierge takes that accomplishment away from you, as a matter of fact.
[00:04:34] And they get all the dopamine from doing it.
[00:04:37] And all you have to do is just enjoy your trip.
[00:04:38] They'll book your hotels for you.
[00:04:40] And if they can find better rates later on, before you go, obviously, they'll rebook the
[00:04:45] hotel and they'll give you the difference.
[00:04:47] They'll refund you the difference.
[00:04:48] It's really cool.
[00:04:49] It's a cool service.
[00:04:50] So, check them out.
[00:04:51] Concierge.com.
[00:04:55] I think that's all I had.
[00:04:56] I did my housekeeping.
[00:04:57] I said, this is our last show for the month.
[00:04:59] I said that we're going to be recording our secret show, which I haven't put the link in
[00:05:03] Patreon yet.
[00:05:04] So, if you are a Patreon supporter, I apologize.
[00:05:07] After this show, I'll link it.
[00:05:11] It'll be real late.
[00:05:12] Or maybe I'll do it during the break.
[00:05:13] I don't know.
[00:05:14] But I'll definitely do it before the show starts.
[00:05:16] I promise you that.
[00:05:17] And then we're going to be doing that over on YouTube, of course.
[00:05:19] I'm not going to let these people on Twitch, you know, get in on our secret society of
[00:05:26] weirdos who make fun of Disney news and drink stuff.
[00:05:30] You know what I mean?
[00:05:31] Yeah.
[00:05:31] I'll be there, too.
[00:05:33] I believe I am invited.
[00:05:35] Oh, yeah.
[00:05:35] I meant to tell you about that.
[00:05:37] I rescinded your invite.
[00:05:39] Yeah.
[00:05:39] P's going to join us for Secret Show.
[00:05:42] It's going to be the roast of Mr. P is what it's going to turn into.
[00:05:45] Yeah.
[00:05:45] Like every day.
[00:05:46] We're going to feed him bitties.
[00:05:48] He's going to do Hulk shots until until we get to see them again or something like
[00:05:52] that.
[00:05:52] I don't know.
[00:05:53] Hell yeah.
[00:05:56] Anyway, P, that's all I got.
[00:05:58] So why don't we just jump right into the show?
[00:06:00] Let's talk about Tokyo.
[00:06:01] I've always wanted to go to Japan, but I don't know that I could make it in Tokyo.
[00:06:05] I feel like I would be.
[00:06:08] I think I've made this joke before, but I would feel like Big Bird and follow that bird
[00:06:12] where he's like in Japan walking.
[00:06:14] Hey, everybody, you know, and everyone's looking up at him like, what the heck is going on with
[00:06:18] that guy?
[00:06:19] So you would.
[00:06:20] Okay, good.
[00:06:21] All right.
[00:06:22] My worst fears are confirmed.
[00:06:23] I love that.
[00:06:24] Yeah, exactly.
[00:06:24] Yeah.
[00:06:25] I think it's, you know, the reason we went, like we've always wanted to go just like
[00:06:30] you.
[00:06:30] We decided, you know what?
[00:06:32] Let's do it.
[00:06:33] It's actually like the U.S.
[00:06:35] dollar is pretty strong right now.
[00:06:37] So it's like relatively cheap in general.
[00:06:39] And then we found flights through San Jose direct to Tokyo.
[00:06:49] And they were only like round trip total, like 700 a person.
[00:06:52] Oh, dude.
[00:06:54] That's crazy.
[00:06:55] Which is like once we saw those.
[00:06:57] Yeah.
[00:06:58] Yeah.
[00:06:58] Once we saw those, we're like, I guess it's happening.
[00:07:01] So we bought the tickets.
[00:07:02] We planned for three weeks, which is also an insane amount of time to plan a vacation.
[00:07:07] And how many to three weeks?
[00:07:09] Three weeks.
[00:07:10] I love that.
[00:07:11] Yeah.
[00:07:12] Yeah.
[00:07:12] It was great because we figured like we'll probably never be able to do three weeks like
[00:07:16] this again.
[00:07:17] So let's just go for it.
[00:07:18] Yeah, man.
[00:07:19] Group of five.
[00:07:21] And so like the majority of the trip was not at Tokyo Disneyland.
[00:07:24] But at the very end, we spent we had like four days total.
[00:07:31] So five nights, four days.
[00:07:33] Nobody's perfect.
[00:07:34] Nobody's perfect.
[00:07:35] Imagine spending three weeks in Tokyo.
[00:07:39] Just I feel trapped because I imagine by like the fifth day you would feel stuck.
[00:07:44] You're like, I can't.
[00:07:45] I'm not doing this.
[00:07:46] I feel some game show that I don't want to be a part of.
[00:07:49] Totally.
[00:07:49] Totally.
[00:07:50] Yeah.
[00:07:50] And it's, you know, it's pretty big.
[00:07:52] But I think if you're there long enough, it definitely starts to feel pretty small pretty
[00:07:55] quickly.
[00:07:56] I think like the initial take you get when you walk in is you're like, this is just like
[00:08:00] a weird new Disneyland.
[00:08:01] What's going on?
[00:08:02] This is just everything is in the wrong spot.
[00:08:04] And there's this whole new park I've never even seen before.
[00:08:06] But after you're there for a while, you're like, this isn't too big.
[00:08:10] So yeah, that that would be a long time.
[00:08:12] But I would say like if you ever go and you want to go to Tokyo, like you could totally
[00:08:17] do.
[00:08:17] You know, like I said, we were we planned on two full days, one full day at Disney
[00:08:22] Sea and one full day at Disneyland.
[00:08:24] And we ended up doing that.
[00:08:26] Plus, the night before we did a night only ticket at Disney Sea.
[00:08:31] And then the last night, which was just supposed to be us hanging out at the hotel, we decided
[00:08:37] to go back to Disney Sea one more time for a night ticket.
[00:08:39] So we went basically four times.
[00:08:41] Okay.
[00:08:41] That's pretty good.
[00:08:42] I think after the fourth time at Disney Sea, I was like, yeah, yeah, we did it.
[00:08:46] I would totally come back here in a heartbeat.
[00:08:48] But I think we did it.
[00:08:50] So you've accomplished what you wanted to do.
[00:08:53] For the most part.
[00:08:54] Yeah, there's it was really interesting because we booked.
[00:08:57] So like there's so many things to talk about.
[00:08:59] It's kind of hard to figure out where to start.
[00:09:01] Well, let me ask you this.
[00:09:02] You had you had four days.
[00:09:04] Is that enough?
[00:09:05] Is that too much?
[00:09:05] Is it just the right amount?
[00:09:07] If you go back again or when you go back again, how long will you be staying for?
[00:09:10] Because I'm sure people want to know you have no idea.
[00:09:13] And I would want I would go like, well, seven days.
[00:09:15] You got to go seven or eight days or nine days or even 10 days because you've never seen it.
[00:09:19] You want to do all the stuff.
[00:09:22] What's the ideal length for you?
[00:09:24] Are you so like if you just want to go like nowhere else in Tokyo, if you're just talking about the parks, I think like I think like four days, like two days in each park is probably good.
[00:09:34] I'm a little like the Disneyland park is like, OK, it's cool for its own reasons, but it's not that big.
[00:09:40] And like to be honest, there's not actually that many thrilling rides there right now because when we went Space Mountain and Haunted Mansion were both down.
[00:09:48] So, yeah, they're like they're they're rebuilding Space Mountain like further back for some reason.
[00:09:54] And so like you can see it and you can see the construction of the new one, but you can't go to either.
[00:10:00] That's weird to me.
[00:10:02] Yeah.
[00:10:03] And then Haunted Mansion, they just they were doing their their overlays.
[00:10:06] Right.
[00:10:06] So for so is but it was like, yeah, whatever.
[00:10:09] We'll just do it next time.
[00:10:10] Is there next time?
[00:10:11] I imagine they have a like a refurb or overlay calendar.
[00:10:15] You know what's down for maintenance and what's not.
[00:10:17] So that might be something to check.
[00:10:19] Also, if you want to go to Haunted Mansion, you know, or anything like that, maybe maybe plan around that if you can.
[00:10:26] Yeah, totally.
[00:10:27] I thought like in my head, like I just kind of like assumed that was going to be the case that it was.
[00:10:32] I think they actually do.
[00:10:32] I ended up looking up later and they actually did have like someone's got a site with the planned downtime.
[00:10:37] That's how I found out about Space Mountain because I was like, I can see it.
[00:10:40] Why can't I go to it?
[00:10:42] Why didn't you just ask someone there?
[00:10:43] Why?
[00:10:44] Why?
[00:10:44] You can't go.
[00:10:45] Oh, Japanese.
[00:10:46] You don't speak Japanese.
[00:10:50] Yeah, that's cool.
[00:10:50] All right.
[00:10:51] It's about four days, two in each park.
[00:10:52] That's that seems about right.
[00:10:54] Like we went to Disney World for six days, I think it was.
[00:10:59] And that was like one too many.
[00:11:01] Yeah, that seems kind of long for Disney World.
[00:11:03] The last day we're like, well, that's what I mean.
[00:11:05] Like we would overdo it and go, well, I mean, we need to plan to live there for two years first before we go to the park.
[00:11:10] So that's pretty good.
[00:11:11] All right.
[00:11:12] Yeah.
[00:11:12] And I will say the last day.
[00:11:15] So I talked about going into the parks, but on the last day on the September 5th is when we were there.
[00:11:20] And we had a full day with nothing planned.
[00:11:24] The real plan was to go to like their shopping district.
[00:11:26] And so we did that.
[00:11:27] And like we went to we also went to all the hotels just to check them out like that on the line right there, like monorail subway line.
[00:11:34] And we checked those out.
[00:11:35] And then we just had the rest of the day still.
[00:11:36] So, right.
[00:11:36] Well, let's go into the Disney Sea one more time.
[00:11:41] Have a cheeky little pop in.
[00:11:43] That's cool.
[00:11:43] Yeah.
[00:11:44] It's a pretty small area.
[00:11:44] Yeah.
[00:11:45] So when you when if you're talking to people, you're talking, I guess, people listen to this.
[00:11:50] Would you recommend having a couple extra float days to either go back into the parks or just explore around the area?
[00:11:59] Like how far away is Tokyo?
[00:12:01] Tokyo from Tokyo Disneyland?
[00:12:04] Is it like the Disneyland Paris where it's like 45 minutes outside Paris proper?
[00:12:10] No.
[00:12:10] So like Tokyo in general, their like whole system of subways is so amazing.
[00:12:16] It's crazy.
[00:12:17] You could get across the city in 45 minutes.
[00:12:19] You can get to another one probably in 45 minutes.
[00:12:22] Wow.
[00:12:22] I think I think if you took when we looked at it, because we when we we we did at the tail end of the trip.
[00:12:28] Right.
[00:12:29] So we had this hotel in Tokyo on like the east side of Tokyo and Ginza.
[00:12:33] And we were going to take the subway and I think it was roughly 40, 30 to 40 minutes to get there.
[00:12:41] But we decided because we've been riding subways now for, you know, three weeks.
[00:12:47] So we're like, let's pay for one Uber.
[00:12:50] Let's stay above ground this time and let's let's check out the sites.
[00:12:54] And it's kind of cool because it's like a bay.
[00:12:55] Right.
[00:12:55] So it's like it's in it's in Tokyo Bay.
[00:12:57] OK.
[00:12:58] And so we basically rode like a weirdly deluxe van that was just a van.
[00:13:04] But like our seats had like footrests that raised up on them.
[00:13:08] It was crazy.
[00:13:08] The whole thing was crazy.
[00:13:10] What is it about like bougie?
[00:13:12] Yeah.
[00:13:12] Like I feel like anything in Japan is automatically luxury.
[00:13:17] It's a little more luxurious than it is here for some reason.
[00:13:21] And I don't know why.
[00:13:21] Maybe it's because like most of the people will respect other people's property.
[00:13:26] Totally.
[00:13:26] Yeah.
[00:13:27] I think I think people actually like take pride in what they do and the work that they do.
[00:13:30] So.
[00:13:31] Yeah.
[00:13:32] So people tend to respect it.
[00:13:34] So.
[00:13:34] So, yeah.
[00:13:34] So we rode that and that was only like 15, 20 minutes or so.
[00:13:39] And there was traffic and that was why.
[00:13:40] So it's just like literally across the bridge.
[00:13:42] OK.
[00:13:42] Nice.
[00:13:43] All right.
[00:13:44] So you can stay.
[00:13:45] So you can go have a couple of float days, stay in Tokyo, still go to the parks,
[00:13:49] still do all that kind of stuff and experience, you know, I don't want to say Japanese culture
[00:13:54] because I'm sure Tokyo, you know, is like San Francisco here where I wouldn't call it any
[00:13:59] one culture.
[00:13:59] It's just more shopping really.
[00:14:01] But I don't know.
[00:14:01] Right.
[00:14:02] Is that what you experienced?
[00:14:03] How was your how was your non Disney time before we get into like, you know, too much
[00:14:07] into how you planned it and stuff like what else did you do?
[00:14:10] Oh, man, we did so much.
[00:14:13] It's like I could talk for days about it.
[00:14:16] We did the general trip.
[00:14:17] Right.
[00:14:18] You're here for two days.
[00:14:20] The the general trip was we went.
[00:14:23] So we flew into Tokyo and then we spent like about a week or so, a couple of days on the
[00:14:30] sort of west side of Tokyo.
[00:14:31] So sort of we like stayed in like Shinjuku, which is by Shibuya.
[00:14:36] And then we did a bunch of stuff around there.
[00:14:38] And then we took a bullet train to Kyoto.
[00:14:42] And unfortunately, we only stayed there for three days because we didn't think there'd
[00:14:44] be a lot to do.
[00:14:45] But that was by far our favorite place.
[00:14:47] And we're like, next time we go, we're staying in a week at least in Kyoto.
[00:14:51] Why?
[00:14:51] So we went there.
[00:14:52] Like, what did you do?
[00:14:53] That was so fascinating.
[00:14:54] Oh, my God, dude.
[00:14:55] So many things.
[00:14:57] First of all, the food anywhere is amazing.
[00:14:59] And I had the best food I've ever had in my entire life at this this like little hole
[00:15:04] in the wall seats, literally seven people and two dudes in a really small kitchen.
[00:15:08] Yeah.
[00:15:08] Sukumin ramen.
[00:15:09] And it was like we got a bowl of the best ramen I've ever had.
[00:15:12] And I got a beer and it was cash only.
[00:15:14] And it cost me like 10 American dollars.
[00:15:17] And like we got the bill and we're like, is this real life?
[00:15:20] What is happening right now?
[00:15:21] So like are they are they a tip culture too or not?
[00:15:25] No.
[00:15:26] Man, get out of town.
[00:15:27] Let's move there.
[00:15:28] There actually I want to move there.
[00:15:30] Literally all of us at one point early on were like, should we like buy property here?
[00:15:35] It's so good.
[00:15:38] I'm sure it's the last thing.
[00:15:39] So we were in Kyoto.
[00:15:41] Yeah.
[00:15:42] Yeah.
[00:15:42] We were in Kyoto and then we took another bullet train to Osaka and we were there for about
[00:15:46] a week, a little over a week.
[00:15:49] So that was fun.
[00:15:50] And we did some day trips.
[00:15:51] We went to Hiroshima.
[00:15:51] We went to Nara Park, which is like where the bowing deer are.
[00:15:56] I don't know if you know what those are.
[00:15:57] No.
[00:15:57] They eat the little buns, right?
[00:15:59] The little steamed pork.
[00:16:00] Yeah.
[00:16:00] You give them the little crackers, but they come up to you and they bow to you.
[00:16:03] Right.
[00:16:04] I was kidding.
[00:16:05] I was making a dim sum joke, but I know it's not.
[00:16:07] No.
[00:16:08] Okay.
[00:16:08] All right.
[00:16:09] It's no joke.
[00:16:10] Yeah.
[00:16:10] No, I know.
[00:16:11] But never mind.
[00:16:13] Well, that's great.
[00:16:14] Yeah.
[00:16:15] It went over your head.
[00:16:15] That's okay.
[00:16:16] Yeah.
[00:16:16] So it's cool.
[00:16:17] It's like an airplane.
[00:16:18] A lot of movement.
[00:16:19] A lot of movement.
[00:16:19] All right.
[00:16:20] Well, that's good, man.
[00:16:20] So when you decide that you want to go on this trip, where do you start?
[00:16:24] Like we said, there's really not a whole lot of information out there.
[00:16:27] So how do you, a person who's not very technologically advanced, how do you figure that out?
[00:16:35] Man, what do you do?
[00:16:36] You start just plugging in stuff online or talking to people or what?
[00:16:41] Yeah.
[00:16:42] It's a little bit of everything.
[00:16:42] I think so.
[00:16:43] We went in a group of five.
[00:16:45] So what we kind of did is we split up the work first and foremost.
[00:16:49] So like you're in charge for the days, this set of days and figuring out where we're going to stay.
[00:16:54] You're going to figure out where we're going to stay.
[00:16:55] And I'm like, give me the Disneyland section of it.
[00:16:58] I got you guys.
[00:16:58] Don't worry about it.
[00:17:00] Okay.
[00:17:00] Still not knowing anything about it.
[00:17:01] So you split up amongst your group.
[00:17:03] You basically like you're a commune of we're just following the ball.
[00:17:07] Now it's your time.
[00:17:08] So if we have a terrible time, it's your fault.
[00:17:12] Oh, yeah, dude.
[00:17:13] We were laying into each other.
[00:17:14] Not really like actually laying in each other.
[00:17:15] We're like, wow, nice choice, dude.
[00:17:17] I have to tell you another time about the place we stayed in Osaka.
[00:17:20] I'm pretty sure was haunted.
[00:17:22] There were so many weird things about it.
[00:17:24] I'll have to.
[00:17:24] It's just.
[00:17:25] Well, anyways.
[00:17:26] Sounds like a secret show topic to me, man.
[00:17:29] Yeah.
[00:17:30] After this, I can talk about it on the secret show.
[00:17:32] It's insane.
[00:17:32] All right.
[00:17:34] But yeah, so we split that up and then we kind of all.
[00:17:37] So like the other like important thing, and I just kind of do this with every trip we do
[00:17:41] with a group of people or just us is we just I just started like everyone started looking
[00:17:45] up like like like blogs and vlogs of people's trips and food.
[00:17:50] And so we just started we started a shared Google map and we just started putting stuff
[00:17:55] on the map.
[00:17:55] Oh, so that was the first thing to do.
[00:17:57] So now we have like literally 150 things of flags all over Japan.
[00:18:01] And so then we met again and we just found a concentration of all the dots and then we've
[00:18:08] found places to stay in those areas.
[00:18:09] So that's how we sort of picked like where what where we want to stay for the days that
[00:18:15] we're there.
[00:18:15] All right.
[00:18:16] I love it.
[00:18:16] It's a good idea.
[00:18:17] I wouldn't have thought about a Google map.
[00:18:18] I would have just thought of like a document where you just list it out and then you have
[00:18:21] to figure it out when you get there because I'm dumb.
[00:18:24] Yeah, we had a document to we had we had a document.
[00:18:27] Sure.
[00:18:27] Yeah, but like the map is a great is a great tip.
[00:18:31] Yeah, because like the thing we kind of realized early on looking through all this is it doesn't
[00:18:35] really matter like Japan.
[00:18:37] You just sort of go do things.
[00:18:38] It doesn't like there are reservations you need for some things, but in general, you just
[00:18:44] go and it's fine.
[00:18:45] And so we're like, OK, well, we'll just whatever we're doing for the day, we'll just look at
[00:18:49] the map and say, oh, let's go do this.
[00:18:51] Let's go do this.
[00:18:51] And it worked out.
[00:18:52] It worked out really well.
[00:18:53] I think everybody had like one thing on the map.
[00:18:56] They're like, I really, really want to do this.
[00:18:58] So let's make it happen.
[00:19:00] For me, that was the Disneyland park.
[00:19:02] So I'm like, we're staying over there and we're going.
[00:19:05] So, you know, and everyone had their own thing.
[00:19:07] So, OK, I love that.
[00:19:10] And so that was that was Japan in general.
[00:19:12] OK, love it.
[00:19:13] And then and then and then came the sort of like I was in charge of planning the Tokyo
[00:19:17] stuff.
[00:19:18] And so like I, I was very cocky and I thought, dude, I've been to Disneyland so many times.
[00:19:24] I got this.
[00:19:25] Sure, because it's a one to one.
[00:19:27] It's an even swap.
[00:19:28] Right.
[00:19:29] Yeah.
[00:19:29] Right.
[00:19:30] Right.
[00:19:31] Boy, was I wrong.
[00:19:32] It wasn't hard.
[00:19:34] It wasn't hard.
[00:19:35] It was just, I guess, weird is the best word for it.
[00:19:38] So like I'm going to give big credit to TDR Explorer.
[00:19:43] He's one of the three people that actually like does stuff in Tokyo and he's got a bunch
[00:19:47] of videos and a whole website.
[00:19:48] OK, his stuff is legit.
[00:19:50] Like I found a lot of his stuff and I followed a lot of it.
[00:19:54] And that's where I got the most useful information.
[00:19:55] So I just want to give him a plug because he deserves it.
[00:19:58] Sure.
[00:19:59] And so like he had a link like so the first thing I'm like, OK, is like where on the trip
[00:20:05] do we do this?
[00:20:06] Do this like do we do at the tail end?
[00:20:08] Do we do at the beginning somewhere in the middle?
[00:20:11] And I I saw that Tokyo Disneyland and you can kind of see in the background behind me if
[00:20:17] it's not too pixelated.
[00:20:19] It's on Tokyo Bay.
[00:20:21] So like there's a bay right there.
[00:20:23] And so I'm like that looks relaxing.
[00:20:26] Let's do it at the end so we can like because we're going to be busy.
[00:20:29] So we did it at the tail end.
[00:20:31] Yeah.
[00:20:31] Smart.
[00:20:32] That's what I would have done, too, because I don't want to haul around a bunch of Disney
[00:20:35] souvenirs for three weeks.
[00:20:36] That's a good thing.
[00:20:37] Yeah.
[00:20:38] Yes.
[00:20:39] Because we you are traveling with your suitcases everywhere.
[00:20:42] Did you ship anything back?
[00:20:45] No, we just we just like like this is a pro tip because we we look this up and we
[00:20:50] actually bought stuff and did this and it worked.
[00:20:52] We went to a Don Kyoto, which is just like a Don Kiyote.
[00:20:57] I think that's how you pronounce it.
[00:20:58] It's just like a giant store.
[00:20:59] You'll definitely go when you go there.
[00:21:00] It's a big thing.
[00:21:01] And they had these vacuum seal bags.
[00:21:03] And so we bought some vacuum seal bags, loaded a bunch of stuff in it and then borrow the
[00:21:09] housekeepers vacuum cleaner.
[00:21:11] And we condensed that sucker.
[00:21:13] Yes.
[00:21:14] And like we were able to close.
[00:21:16] I was sitting on our thing like I'm like 220, right?
[00:21:20] I'm sitting on the suitcase and we barely got it to close.
[00:21:23] And it's so dense.
[00:21:24] It's like, you know, not even a big suitcase.
[00:21:26] And it was like 60 pounds or something.
[00:21:28] It was crazy.
[00:21:29] Wow, dude.
[00:21:30] I love that.
[00:21:31] Yeah.
[00:21:31] But the vacuum seal, that's a that's a pro move.
[00:21:34] OK.
[00:21:34] For that.
[00:21:35] All right.
[00:21:36] Yeah.
[00:21:36] Especially if you're going for that long.
[00:21:37] My problem is I would want to I would just bring an extra suitcase for souvenirs or I
[00:21:43] would mail it back or something like that.
[00:21:44] I don't care what it costs because I just I like to buy a little tchotchkes and stuff
[00:21:48] anyways.
[00:21:49] Yep.
[00:21:49] Yeah.
[00:21:50] Yeah.
[00:21:51] That's that's we we ended up buying a second bag to just check.
[00:21:56] We ended up paying a little bit extra for that because we didn't prepay for it as a
[00:21:59] whole thing.
[00:21:59] But yeah, same thing.
[00:22:01] We bought a lot of stuff.
[00:22:02] The nice thing with our trip, by the way, another pro move is we went to Tokyo, then
[00:22:06] went to Kyoto and Osaka and then back to Tokyo.
[00:22:09] So like when we were in Tokyo, we found things we wanted.
[00:22:11] We're like, we'll get it when we get back.
[00:22:13] So that that actually helped a little bit.
[00:22:15] OK, nice.
[00:22:17] Yeah.
[00:22:18] So, yeah, it was it was a lot of moving.
[00:22:21] But the the the resort area was really nice.
[00:22:26] The hotel we stayed in was the Sheraton Grand.
[00:22:31] I believe is what it's called.
[00:22:33] Mm hmm.
[00:22:35] And so that that hotel is not a Disney hotel, but there are Disney hotels in the area and
[00:22:39] on Disney hotels in the area.
[00:22:41] I'll just say right now, like save yourself the research.
[00:22:43] Stay there.
[00:22:44] Stay there.
[00:22:44] Stay in the parkway.
[00:22:45] Don't go anywhere else unless you have money you want to spend.
[00:22:47] Then then go to a Disney hotel.
[00:22:49] But you totally don't need to.
[00:22:51] Was that the reason that you chose not to stay like on campus, I guess?
[00:22:56] Was because it's a lot more expensive.
[00:22:58] It is.
[00:22:59] Yeah.
[00:22:59] It's like regular U.S. prices like like we stayed.
[00:23:04] We stayed at the Sheraton Grand, which is considered a five star hotel in Japan.
[00:23:10] I would say that it's probably a four star hotel to American standards, but it's still
[00:23:14] very nice.
[00:23:15] And it was only one hundred and ten dollars and twenty two cents U.S.
[00:23:19] per night per person.
[00:23:20] Oh, wow.
[00:23:22] Yeah.
[00:23:23] It was crazy, dude.
[00:23:24] Yeah, that's it's crazy.
[00:23:26] Yeah.
[00:23:27] And it and I got to be honest with you, it felt like total luxury when we got there after
[00:23:32] staying in other hotels in Japan where everybody picked one and they picked some people pick
[00:23:38] the cheapest ones.
[00:23:39] And they know they did for very good reasons.
[00:23:42] Not we stayed.
[00:23:44] We stayed one place and it was in that being like twenty five dollars a night per person.
[00:23:49] I'll save the details for the secret show, but you got that much.
[00:23:53] Oh, boy.
[00:23:55] But I guess that's what's hard to figure out because, you know, everything seems cheaper
[00:24:00] there.
[00:24:00] So I guess there's a like a saturation point of of cheaposity to valuation.
[00:24:09] Yeah.
[00:24:09] And like they're not like it's not like anything's bad.
[00:24:12] Everything is very clean for the most part and people are very friendly and it's very safe.
[00:24:16] But it's for the most part that bothers me.
[00:24:18] Right.
[00:24:18] Yeah.
[00:24:18] Yeah.
[00:24:19] You got to be careful.
[00:24:20] Yeah.
[00:24:20] OK.
[00:24:21] Yeah.
[00:24:21] All right.
[00:24:21] That's true, man.
[00:24:24] But yeah.
[00:24:24] So like by the time we got to the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel, it was it was like one person at our
[00:24:29] party said, OK, now I feel like I'm on vacation.
[00:24:32] Right.
[00:24:32] Because it's like you roll in and there's palm trees and it's all like it seems a lot more
[00:24:38] chill and resorty.
[00:24:39] Right.
[00:24:40] So you're like, OK, now now I'm feeling good.
[00:24:42] You know, I feel I feel like number one.
[00:24:44] Very nice.
[00:24:44] I feel like number one, it was it was a good move for that reason to to have this be the
[00:24:50] tail end to be the final chapter of your trip.
[00:24:53] Right.
[00:24:54] Especially because, you know, maybe you want to save a little bit of money, not hosteling
[00:24:58] it, but, you know, slumming it in places.
[00:25:01] It sounds like.
[00:25:01] And then now, OK, we not only are going to go home soon, we're going to have a good day,
[00:25:05] a good couple of days at Disney parks.
[00:25:07] But then we get to just kind of relax and a little bit more or luxury.
[00:25:13] And the second part is I forgot what I was going to say.
[00:25:16] So there's that.
[00:25:18] Happens.
[00:25:19] Yeah.
[00:25:19] Good.
[00:25:20] Yeah, it is good, man.
[00:25:22] So let's talk tickets, man.
[00:25:25] What are the prices for for the tickets for these parks?
[00:25:27] So we can all just like scream internally.
[00:25:33] So I bought tickets online for the full days well ahead of time.
[00:25:38] And I had read there was a night ticket.
[00:25:40] I didn't really think much of it because I'm like, why would I go for because it's only for
[00:25:43] like five hours or so.
[00:25:45] So I didn't even look at the night tickets by about full day and a full day ticket.
[00:25:50] You can only stay in one park.
[00:25:52] It was fifty six dollars and eleven cents.
[00:25:55] U.S.
[00:25:57] How much?
[00:25:58] Sorry.
[00:25:59] Fifty six dollars and eleven cents.
[00:26:02] That's like nineteen ninety eight prices.
[00:26:04] Dude, fifty for a full day.
[00:26:06] Full day in one park.
[00:26:09] Yeah, they do not have park hoppers, but at that price, you could park hop if you wanted
[00:26:14] to.
[00:26:15] Yeah.
[00:26:16] You mean, yeah.
[00:26:17] So you just buy one ticket at each park and then you can just come and go as you please
[00:26:21] are the ins and outs.
[00:26:23] Yeah, I guess there are aren't there?
[00:26:25] I think so.
[00:26:26] We didn't do it, but I'm pretty sure you can.
[00:26:28] Yeah.
[00:26:29] I guess I never really looked that up.
[00:26:30] I never considered it.
[00:26:31] Like when you leave, you get a hand stamp or whatever.
[00:26:35] Probably.
[00:26:36] Yeah.
[00:26:36] Oh, yeah.
[00:26:37] So it was like that.
[00:26:40] That was like when I saw that, I was like, OK, like this is the thing about going to Japan,
[00:26:45] especially when the U.S. dollar is so strong.
[00:26:48] You see things like this and you're like, I'm just going to buy things.
[00:26:52] It's fine.
[00:26:53] It's so cheap.
[00:26:54] Oh, absolutely.
[00:26:55] Yeah.
[00:26:55] You feel like the rich Westerner, like, hey, I'm going to throw.
[00:26:58] Yeah.
[00:26:59] Hey, American, I'm going to throw my money around it.
[00:27:02] It reminds me of like these budget Mexican dudes I used to work with.
[00:27:07] They would come over and, you know, do work or whatever.
[00:27:09] And they're like, oh, you American, you rich.
[00:27:12] I'm like, bro, I'm literally making $15 an hour.
[00:27:16] I am not rich.
[00:27:16] He goes, you rich.
[00:27:17] No.
[00:27:19] No.
[00:27:19] Just because I'm an American doesn't mean I'm rich.
[00:27:22] But I guess in Japan, you feel that way.
[00:27:24] It's all relative.
[00:27:25] Yeah.
[00:27:25] Yeah.
[00:27:26] Yeah.
[00:27:26] And it was one of those things where like so like when we wanted to pay to get on rides
[00:27:31] faster, it was just not a question.
[00:27:33] We're like, yeah, of course, we're going to do it right now.
[00:27:36] And it's already so cheap.
[00:27:37] Like we're just not it's we're not even come close to the U.S. price.
[00:27:41] So you just plan for the U.S. pricing and then go to Tokyo and you're going to have a
[00:27:44] good time.
[00:27:45] My Lord, man, that's like a retirement investment.
[00:27:48] Advice, you know, plan for the worst and then head to the cheapest.
[00:27:53] You're hitting it.
[00:27:54] Totally.
[00:27:54] I love that.
[00:27:55] Totally.
[00:27:55] It was 56.11 for the day pass.
[00:27:58] And then the night ticket, which I think is about five hours, was $32.07 U.S.
[00:28:05] I can't even imagine paying $32 to go to a Disneyland.
[00:28:12] Like that's insane.
[00:28:14] Yeah, it's crazy.
[00:28:15] Yeah.
[00:28:15] And like we weren't going to go that last day, but it was very easy to say, yeah, let's
[00:28:19] do it because it's $30 a person.
[00:28:21] Sure.
[00:28:23] Dude, I love that.
[00:28:24] And is that either park?
[00:28:26] Are they the same price?
[00:28:28] Same price.
[00:28:29] Cool.
[00:28:30] Yep.
[00:28:31] So, yeah, it was it was really good deal.
[00:28:33] You know, we went we went the tail end of August.
[00:28:37] I think it gets a little bit more expensive depending like on the season.
[00:28:40] It was very hot when we went.
[00:28:42] So I think it was probably a little cheaper.
[00:28:44] But yeah, it was it was great.
[00:28:47] It was really great.
[00:28:49] Sounds awesome, man.
[00:28:50] You know, and I guess it just makes me wonder like what we're doing here in the U.S.
[00:28:53] parks.
[00:28:54] Why are we?
[00:28:54] Why does it cost so much money?
[00:28:55] But, you know, I guess I get it.
[00:28:57] It's bigger parks and it's, you know, America.
[00:28:59] Apparently we have a lot of money over here.
[00:29:00] Yeah.
[00:29:01] We're all rich.
[00:29:02] Apparently our friends are rich.
[00:29:03] I didn't know that.
[00:29:04] Actually, I mean, you do have to be rich to go to Disneyland.
[00:29:07] I mean, let's just be honest.
[00:29:09] So.
[00:29:10] Yeah, well, that's true.
[00:29:11] Yeah.
[00:29:12] Yeah.
[00:29:12] You just don't have to be as rich to go to Tokyo.
[00:29:15] Although you got to get to Tokyo.
[00:29:16] I still think it's cheaper overall.
[00:29:18] I think you're right.
[00:29:19] Did you happen to like pencil it all out to see?
[00:29:22] Yes.
[00:29:23] Oh, so I was preparing for the show and I figured I would do my best to give you the number.
[00:29:29] Right.
[00:29:29] Which is like how much were tickets to the park, the hotel and the premier passes, which is sort
[00:29:36] of like the like they pay to go on the ride quick.
[00:29:39] Yeah.
[00:29:39] I didn't get the number to include food, but the number.
[00:29:44] That's all right.
[00:29:44] Per person.
[00:29:45] Yeah.
[00:29:45] Number per person for tickets, hotel, and I can tell you the number of rides we paid to
[00:29:50] go on.
[00:29:50] Wait, hold on.
[00:29:51] Hold on.
[00:29:52] Don't give it.
[00:29:53] Taryn, what do you think it is?
[00:29:54] For one person?
[00:29:56] One person.
[00:29:57] So tickets to the park, 56 bucks.
[00:29:59] You already know that.
[00:30:01] Hotel.
[00:30:01] Yeah.
[00:30:02] You already know that.
[00:30:03] What do you think it is?
[00:30:04] I have it in front of me, so I'm not going to, I'm not going to, you know, cheat and win,
[00:30:10] you know?
[00:30:13] So, okay.
[00:30:14] Okay.
[00:30:15] I guess.
[00:30:18] I don't know.
[00:30:20] I love putting her on the spot.
[00:30:22] $300.
[00:30:24] 300, not 300.
[00:30:25] That's, that's pretty low.
[00:30:27] Well, because I, this is why I should have asked more like what goes into this?
[00:30:31] Because it's like, I already know how much the hotel was and I know how much the ticket
[00:30:35] was.
[00:30:35] So to me, that's $150 or 180 bucks.
[00:30:40] We stayed four nights at the hotel.
[00:30:42] So four, got it.
[00:30:43] Okay.
[00:30:44] So then that, my answer is not 300.
[00:30:45] My answer is 600.
[00:30:49] It was $707 and 45 cents US.
[00:30:53] Good gravy.
[00:30:54] But also what's interesting is like that's per person, but you're not double person paying
[00:30:59] the hotel.
[00:31:00] So.
[00:31:01] Right.
[00:31:02] Well, no, you, that's like hotel divided per person for the room for night.
[00:31:06] So that is per actual person.
[00:31:08] Oh, okay.
[00:31:08] Okay.
[00:31:09] For four nights.
[00:31:10] It's not bad.
[00:31:11] No, that's not bad.
[00:31:12] It's pretty good.
[00:31:13] Yeah, I think, I think that's right.
[00:31:15] Maybe I did my math wrong, but still, if it's wrong, it's still cheaper.
[00:31:21] If it's, if it's wrong, then it's cheaper than what I just said, which is crazy.
[00:31:25] Yeah.
[00:31:26] Yeah.
[00:31:27] Wow.
[00:31:27] That's crazy.
[00:31:28] Okay.
[00:31:28] So you stayed at the Sheraton Grand Tokyo hotel, which is not the resort hotel.
[00:31:32] And you were saying just pony up the money and stay at the resort.
[00:31:38] No, no.
[00:31:38] I'm saying like, if you have the money and you really want to do the resort, you can.
[00:31:41] Yeah.
[00:31:42] But it is completely unnecessary.
[00:31:44] It's unnecessary.
[00:31:45] Okay.
[00:31:45] Yeah.
[00:31:46] Yeah.
[00:31:46] The, the, where we stayed in that hotel, we paid like an extra $30 a night to stay in
[00:31:52] the park wing.
[00:31:52] And I'm like, yeah, whatever.
[00:31:53] We're on vacation.
[00:31:54] We'll splurge a little.
[00:31:55] It was so close to the, the monorail to just like literally go to the bottom floor,
[00:32:02] go out the door, cross street, get on it.
[00:32:03] And then ride one stop and we're at Disney sea.
[00:32:05] Like, no geez.
[00:32:07] It was not even like, like we usually stay at the, uh, probably not anymore, but we used
[00:32:13] to stay at the Marriott Anaheim, like the convention center Marriott and then walk to Disneyland.
[00:32:17] Yeah.
[00:32:18] And I, I feel like that walk is more of a hassle than it was to go to the park in Tokyo.
[00:32:22] So what do you, what do you, did you, what made you pick the Sheraton Grand Tokyo hotel
[00:32:27] instead of the resort hotels?
[00:32:31] So the resort hotels, um, were more expensive, like, like a hundred dollars a night versus
[00:32:38] $400 a night.
[00:32:39] So I was like, yeah, like, like they were California prices when I was looking, I was like, hell
[00:32:44] no, dude.
[00:32:44] I was going to say that's more aligned with us prices.
[00:32:47] Yeah.
[00:32:48] Yeah.
[00:32:48] That's, that's nasty.
[00:32:50] Yeah.
[00:32:51] The interesting thing right next to our hotel was there's like a new toy story hotel and
[00:32:56] like you can't even go onto the property unless you have a room there.
[00:33:00] Oh, okay.
[00:33:02] That's crazy.
[00:33:02] They have security to not leave because it's really new and I guess they just don't want
[00:33:05] a bunch of people filming or something.
[00:33:07] I don't know.
[00:33:07] Well, it's probably very cool looking.
[00:33:09] It is very cool.
[00:33:10] Our airport shuttle on the way out drove us through it and it was extremely cute.
[00:33:14] And I was like, damn, dude, I might, I might need to pay for this.
[00:33:18] If we have, you know, kids one day, this might be the spot.
[00:33:20] But I'm surprised that you didn't just buy, you know, pay for a room there and then just
[00:33:25] walk around with how much money you guys had.
[00:33:27] I mean, geez, Louise, all the savings.
[00:33:29] Yeah.
[00:33:30] Tip to all of our Japanese listeners.
[00:33:32] If you ever see Mr. P walking around, rob him.
[00:33:35] He's loaded.
[00:33:37] Totally.
[00:33:37] No, I'm just kidding.
[00:33:38] Yeah.
[00:33:39] That sounds neat, man.
[00:33:40] I wonder if you get like a custom Toy Story tour based on you.
[00:33:43] That's how that's what I feel like the gifts would be in a hotel from in Japan.
[00:33:47] You know?
[00:33:48] Yeah, probably.
[00:33:49] Look at you.
[00:33:49] Just look at the pictures of the hotel.
[00:33:51] Like it's very well documented.
[00:33:52] It's really, really cool.
[00:33:54] Really nice, man.
[00:33:56] This is what I want to talk about the most.
[00:33:58] This is mainly why I want to do this show.
[00:34:00] I want to talk about the food there, please.
[00:34:02] OK, because every video I've seen, every vlog, as much as that word makes me gag, the
[00:34:10] food, it looks it's art.
[00:34:13] It's insanely cute and I don't want to eat it, but I want to sample all of the things.
[00:34:19] So how was that?
[00:34:20] Because that would be part of my research as well is what to eat, where to get it.
[00:34:25] And, you know, how much it costs.
[00:34:26] I need to I would need to budget that stuff in.
[00:34:28] What did you do for the for the food?
[00:34:31] Yeah.
[00:34:31] So before I went on the trip, I looked up a bunch of like mostly the TDR Explorer guys
[00:34:37] like sort of list of like food to go eat.
[00:34:41] There's a lot of classics that every single person will tell you, like the alien mochi,
[00:34:44] right?
[00:34:45] The little mochi balls with the aliens from Toy Story.
[00:34:49] Yeah.
[00:34:50] So what I kind of did is I just sort of pre wrote a list in like where they were at
[00:34:54] in each park.
[00:34:55] OK.
[00:34:55] And then I just sort of while we were there, we just sort of we just grazed pretty much
[00:34:59] the whole time.
[00:35:00] OK, there you go.
[00:35:01] I think.
[00:35:02] Yeah, we because it's just there's so much food.
[00:35:06] So we have a lot of good food and I will definitely say that the food there was significantly
[00:35:10] better than the U.S.
[00:35:11] and shame on the U.S. parks.
[00:35:12] Wow.
[00:35:13] And the shame too.
[00:35:15] Are we getting better?
[00:35:16] Are we getting a finger wag with that or what, man?
[00:35:19] Oh, no.
[00:35:21] Tsk, tsk.
[00:35:21] Oh.
[00:35:23] How different?
[00:35:24] Like what?
[00:35:24] It was like everything just tasted more.
[00:35:30] I don't have to say this.
[00:35:31] Everything tasted more real.
[00:35:33] Like, like, like it had flavor.
[00:35:35] It wasn't just like this cardboard with a little hint of some sugar or something or just so sugary.
[00:35:41] Just you don't know what it is.
[00:35:42] Right.
[00:35:42] OK.
[00:35:44] Like, like I have a lot of different food I tried.
[00:35:46] I basically gave everything a 10 out of 10 with the exception of some minor things and they were good.
[00:35:50] But I was like, after everything else I've had, meh.
[00:35:56] Like, like I had one, a real surprise for me.
[00:35:59] I'm not a big popcorn person usually.
[00:36:01] Right.
[00:36:02] And so I'm not a popcorn person and I don't really get popcorn tins.
[00:36:07] But they had this really cool Halloween popcorn thing.
[00:36:11] It's like a pumpkin with this cute ghost coming off of it and it lights up.
[00:36:14] And I'm like, damn, that's a decoration right there.
[00:36:17] I'm buying that.
[00:36:18] I feel like.
[00:36:19] And when you buy it.
[00:36:22] Go ahead.
[00:36:24] Go ahead.
[00:36:25] No, go ahead.
[00:36:25] No, you go ahead.
[00:36:26] This is my show.
[00:36:27] You go ahead.
[00:36:28] OK.
[00:36:32] So when you buy it, it comes with a popcorn.
[00:36:34] So you have to pick a flavor.
[00:36:36] Right.
[00:36:36] And so I got this like this like mix.
[00:36:39] Right.
[00:36:39] And it was called like the Fantasyland mix or something like that.
[00:36:42] Yeah.
[00:36:42] Our strawberry.
[00:36:43] Yeah.
[00:36:44] Strawberry Napoleon.
[00:36:45] I called it Fantasyland though because it tastes and smelled like Fantasyland.
[00:36:50] And I don't know how else to describe it.
[00:36:52] It was delicious.
[00:36:53] OK.
[00:36:53] And when you eat it, it was very delicious and not too sweet.
[00:36:57] But you got like the sensation like you were hanging out in Fantasyland.
[00:37:00] It was very odd.
[00:37:01] That sounds.
[00:37:03] So you had Neapolitan flavored popcorn?
[00:37:06] Napoleon.
[00:37:07] So it was like strawberry, caramel and chocolate.
[00:37:10] I think.
[00:37:11] White chocolate.
[00:37:13] That's disgusting, dude.
[00:37:15] What?
[00:37:15] It sounds disgusting, but it was amazing.
[00:37:17] What is wrong with you?
[00:37:18] That's the thing like.
[00:37:19] That is like the difference here is like it's actually good.
[00:37:23] And you wouldn't think so.
[00:37:24] Was it the sweet salty thing?
[00:37:26] Like did it have salt?
[00:37:28] Yeah.
[00:37:29] Yeah.
[00:37:30] Some of it had salt.
[00:37:31] Some of it was.
[00:37:31] I could see it.
[00:37:32] I think the strawberry was probably really sweet.
[00:37:35] That one was probably the sweetest.
[00:37:37] But it had a really good a really good strawberry flavor to it.
[00:37:41] Like it was more strawberry than it was sugar.
[00:37:44] I don't know how to explain it.
[00:37:45] White chocolate turned my stomach, dude.
[00:37:48] Oh, really?
[00:37:48] Yeah.
[00:37:49] I can't do it.
[00:37:50] I white chocolate sucks.
[00:37:52] It's not even chocolate.
[00:37:53] Neapolitan isn't usually white chocolate.
[00:37:55] It's usually vanilla.
[00:37:56] Yeah, I know.
[00:37:57] Right.
[00:37:57] So keep in mind that like in Japan, things are definitely nowhere near as sweet as they
[00:38:03] are in the US.
[00:38:04] So the white chocolate tastes different than what you're probably thinking.
[00:38:08] Really?
[00:38:09] Yeah.
[00:38:10] See, you still know it's white chocolate, but it's not like, oh, God, like this is so fake
[00:38:14] and it's not even a real flavor.
[00:38:15] It's not really like that.
[00:38:16] It's weird because like Japanese curry is like the sweet curry.
[00:38:21] And so I would assume that, you know, a lot of other stuff is kind of overly sweet, too.
[00:38:25] I don't know why that sticks in my head, but it does.
[00:38:26] Like I was really surprised because when I first had Japanese curry, I was like in a big
[00:38:31] like Indian curry kick.
[00:38:32] I'm like Japanese curry.
[00:38:33] Let's try that.
[00:38:34] And it's like, wow, I am just eating sugar.
[00:38:38] It was weird.
[00:38:39] But anyway, I don't know why.
[00:38:40] I don't know why I said that.
[00:38:41] Yeah.
[00:38:42] No, I mean, another example.
[00:38:43] There's there's this I don't really drink soda like ever.
[00:38:47] Really?
[00:38:48] Yeah.
[00:38:48] Like the last thought I had was probably a Mountain Dew, like probably from Taco Bell,
[00:38:53] Baja Blast.
[00:38:54] Okay.
[00:38:54] All right.
[00:38:55] Yeah.
[00:38:55] How last time I went there, which is actually probably recent.
[00:38:58] I was going to say a couple months ago, probably.
[00:39:00] Yeah.
[00:39:00] Yeah.
[00:39:02] But they have this this this apple tea soda that people were raving about.
[00:39:08] And like I'm looking like it was one of the things where you go do the research.
[00:39:11] Every single person's like, you got to get the apple tea soda.
[00:39:13] I'm like.
[00:39:15] I don't I'm not a big apple person.
[00:39:16] I like tea, but in a soda, that's weird.
[00:39:19] And also I'm not a sort of person.
[00:39:20] Yeah.
[00:39:20] And we ended up getting like five of those things.
[00:39:25] They're so good.
[00:39:26] And it's exactly what it sounds like, but it's not too sweet.
[00:39:29] OK.
[00:39:30] And it's not overpowering like fake flavors.
[00:39:32] It's just a really nice like chill soda.
[00:39:36] It was very pleasant to drink.
[00:39:37] I love having a chill soda.
[00:39:38] Chill soda.
[00:39:39] Yeah.
[00:39:40] Yeah.
[00:39:40] It's it's the only way I can explain.
[00:39:42] You'll know when you if you ever go, you'll you'll you'll know what I'm talking about.
[00:39:44] Yeah.
[00:39:45] All right.
[00:39:45] That's fine, man.
[00:39:47] All right.
[00:39:47] So but food was banging.
[00:39:48] Food was on point.
[00:39:50] Food was really good.
[00:39:52] The alien mochi was obviously really good.
[00:39:54] I was going to ask.
[00:39:55] You had to get that right.
[00:39:56] We got it probably four times.
[00:40:00] What flavors of mochi was it?
[00:40:02] Was it red bean?
[00:40:03] No, it was it was a chocolate, strawberry, vanilla or nose.
[00:40:07] It was chocolate, strawberry.
[00:40:09] And I think it was custard.
[00:40:09] I don't think it was vanilla.
[00:40:10] I think it was custard.
[00:40:11] So is there is like a theme amongst the desserts there with chocolate, strawberry, chocolate,
[00:40:18] strawberry in some sort of white color like vanilla or white chocolate?
[00:40:23] Really?
[00:40:23] It seems like a coincidence.
[00:40:25] Two of the only two things in that category that I can think of.
[00:40:29] I'm like, it's two of the things you talked about.
[00:40:30] But were those?
[00:40:32] So I didn't know.
[00:40:34] Okay.
[00:40:34] So the so you mean to tell me the teriyaki chicken legs didn't have a strawberry chocolate
[00:40:38] and vanilla flavor.
[00:40:42] Unfortunately, not.
[00:40:43] I asked.
[00:40:43] Damn, dude.
[00:40:44] Excuse me.
[00:40:45] Do you have this in strawberry?
[00:40:48] We have it in America.
[00:40:50] Yeah.
[00:40:50] What's wrong with you, man?
[00:40:52] What about the beers there?
[00:40:53] You have a note in here that you were drinking beers in Tokyo, Disney.
[00:40:56] What kind of beer do they have there?
[00:40:58] Is it just like the big Japanese loggers or what?
[00:41:00] Yeah, I think they have just sort of a run of different Japanese.
[00:41:04] I didn't actually look at the names most of the time.
[00:41:06] But, you know, it's like the typical Japanese beers you can get anywhere.
[00:41:10] But they're like on draft.
[00:41:12] Yeah.
[00:41:13] And they're just really crisp and delicious.
[00:41:15] And they're like, God, I think it was how much did we pay for beer there?
[00:41:18] It was like a dollar fifty US or something.
[00:41:21] Oh, my gosh.
[00:41:22] It was insane.
[00:41:23] Bro, this is the problem, man.
[00:41:25] This is the absolute problem with the way America is run.
[00:41:29] It's just we are just for the dollar, man.
[00:41:33] It doesn't matter who needs to suffer.
[00:41:36] Well, and that's the thing.
[00:41:37] It's not like Japan has a poor economy either.
[00:41:40] Right.
[00:41:41] Like they're doing just fine.
[00:41:43] They're all right.
[00:41:43] From what I understand.
[00:41:44] Yeah, I think they have inflation or something like that.
[00:41:46] I don't know.
[00:41:46] They got some economic problems usually.
[00:41:48] But for the most part, everyone's chill.
[00:41:51] Sounds great to me.
[00:41:52] I think the most expensive beer we had, we both mean my buddy went with and got beers
[00:41:58] and sort of hung out to charge our phones while and then like we watched like a light
[00:42:02] parade that would buy.
[00:42:03] Yeah.
[00:42:03] And we got like a like a craft beer.
[00:42:05] And I think it can't remember the exact price.
[00:42:07] I was trying to find it before the show, but I think it was only like six bucks.
[00:42:11] Like I remember thinking like this is Oregon beer prices 10 years ago.
[00:42:16] This is crazy.
[00:42:17] Yeah, for sure.
[00:42:17] That's like, yeah, you can't go.
[00:42:19] You can't go anywhere.
[00:42:20] We can get a beer for six, but craft beer for six bucks anymore, especially not at the
[00:42:24] parks.
[00:42:25] You go to the parks, that's 12, 14 bucks.
[00:42:27] Absolutely.
[00:42:28] Easy.
[00:42:28] Yeah.
[00:42:29] I remember thinking like, wow, we get multiple beers for the price of one in DCA.
[00:42:33] And you know what?
[00:42:34] And I think and most people have said this before and we've said it over time, but you
[00:42:38] know the I think the prices for alcohol at the American parks keep going up because
[00:42:43] people keep getting too drunk.
[00:42:45] And I think it's a problem.
[00:42:46] I think we think it's multiple issues.
[00:42:48] One is that they Disney knows they can make money on it.
[00:42:51] Sure.
[00:42:51] So they're just going to keep raising the price.
[00:42:52] But I think it is also just like they're doing with the prices to get in the parks.
[00:42:56] They're trying to price people out of it so they don't drink as much.
[00:43:00] But I don't and I know that there, you know, every country has an alcohol problem to some
[00:43:05] extent.
[00:43:06] But I don't think Japan has the same kind of social outbursts as we do here.
[00:43:13] You know, these are the getting wasted on, you know, Sierra Nevada torpedoes and riding
[00:43:20] Mickey's wheel of death.
[00:43:21] Well, and I do.
[00:43:23] I think that there's also just a very different thing in culture.
[00:43:26] I mean, obviously there is.
[00:43:28] But like in in American culture, you know, you're going to the parks with your family.
[00:43:35] But you can't handle your family because you don't spend much time with them.
[00:43:39] And so this condensed amount of time with them, you find the need to have to drink yourself
[00:43:44] through it.
[00:43:44] Right.
[00:43:45] Yeah.
[00:43:45] Even going to the grocery store as a teenager, you have to put your headphones on.
[00:43:49] Yeah.
[00:43:49] You can't spend time with your family in America.
[00:43:53] So you should drink through it.
[00:43:55] Yeah, absolutely.
[00:43:57] Yeah.
[00:43:57] I totally buy what you guys are saying.
[00:43:59] Like the everyone was like we basically had beers every single day we were in Japan because
[00:44:06] it was cheap and it was delicious.
[00:44:07] No one has a problem.
[00:44:10] Not a single person was rowdy ever.
[00:44:13] Oh, man.
[00:44:14] There was one moment in time.
[00:44:15] This is like such a fascinating, like cultural thing.
[00:44:17] Like we were it was I think it was the last night we were leaving Disney Sea.
[00:44:23] But we had left the park and one guy like was like kind of younger.
[00:44:29] I think he was like a teenager.
[00:44:30] He like sprinted and like laughed really loud.
[00:44:33] Like that was it.
[00:44:33] It wasn't anything sketch.
[00:44:35] He wasn't doing anything crazy, but it was quiet.
[00:44:37] And he like like the whole crowd just like turn and looked at him and then he sat down
[00:44:42] like, yeah, maybe he had a beer or two.
[00:44:44] That was it.
[00:44:45] Damn.
[00:44:45] That was it.
[00:44:46] The entire trip.
[00:44:47] That was the most I'd seen of anybody getting rowdy.
[00:44:49] It was crazy.
[00:44:50] Well, and I have another theory about it, too, because the drinking age in Japan is 18.
[00:44:55] And I do really think well, I don't necessarily think we should lower our drinking age.
[00:45:00] I do think there's something to be said for these countries who have a lower drinking age
[00:45:03] where it's not such this thing that you're waiting for.
[00:45:06] Like we put such we put drinking on such this pedestal where like other countries, it's like,
[00:45:13] I don't know, have have a glass of wine with dinner when you're 15.
[00:45:16] Like who cares?
[00:45:17] Yeah.
[00:45:17] Like it's just it's like a non-issue.
[00:45:20] Agreed.
[00:45:21] Yeah.
[00:45:21] But some of them do still have lots of issues.
[00:45:23] I'm just saying like we have such an issue with alcohol in America.
[00:45:28] Oh, yeah, for sure.
[00:45:29] They totally have it under control in Japan.
[00:45:31] It's not even a thing.
[00:45:32] It's just it's just like you can drink on the street while you're walking.
[00:45:37] Or at least we did.
[00:45:38] And I'm pretty sure.
[00:45:39] I can't tell if we were supposed to.
[00:45:42] At least the Americans did.
[00:45:42] Yeah.
[00:45:43] I saw other people doing that.
[00:45:45] I'll tell you what, Pete, let's take a break and we'll come back.
[00:45:48] We'll talk about some rides and, you know, sort of wrap it up.
[00:45:52] What do you think of that?
[00:45:52] Sure.
[00:45:53] All right.
[00:45:53] Hang on, everyone.
[00:45:54] Ears up.
[00:45:55] We will be right back.
[00:46:00] And now back to the show that ignites your dream wish of imaginations and magical color wonderment of forever.
[00:46:08] Ears up.
[00:46:10] We're back here with Mr. P.
[00:46:12] Shut up, P.
[00:46:13] Talking to you.
[00:46:14] Talking about you.
[00:46:15] For you.
[00:46:17] I know you can't hear my sounds, so.
[00:46:20] No, I can't actually.
[00:46:21] Oh, well, you have no excuse now.
[00:46:24] You have no excuse.
[00:46:25] No, I wanted to interrupt you.
[00:46:26] Okay.
[00:46:27] Well, good.
[00:46:28] That's fun for everybody involved.
[00:46:31] Appreciate you very much.
[00:46:32] So we're back here talking about P.
[00:46:34] And actually, we're talking about Tokyo Disney with Mr. P.
[00:46:37] Of course, one of the greatest American travelers we've ever, you know, had on this show.
[00:46:43] And what I want to do is go through some of the rides that you went on.
[00:46:47] You have this really cute chart.
[00:46:48] And you charted everything that you kind of went on.
[00:46:51] And how much it costs.
[00:46:52] And so you were saying that just like in the domestic parks, you can pay to like skip the lines or whatever.
[00:47:00] What was that cost like?
[00:47:02] Yeah.
[00:47:03] So I think for the big rides or the new rides.
[00:47:07] So like there when we went, I think the there's this whole new area that had opened up called Fantasy Springs.
[00:47:13] And that's where like that's like the new hotness.
[00:47:15] Right.
[00:47:16] Yeah.
[00:47:16] And so there's like four rides there.
[00:47:18] There's like Frozen.
[00:47:20] There's a Peter Pan ride.
[00:47:21] There's a Tico Barrel ride that we didn't go on because it's a kid's ride.
[00:47:24] And then there's a Rapunzel ride.
[00:47:25] And in the area itself is really cool.
[00:47:28] And so those rides and the bigger rides were about $13, 36 cents U.S., which is like 2,000 yen.
[00:47:37] And so I think it's on par about with what you'd pay for the like the per.
[00:47:41] Actually, no, I think that's cheaper even still.
[00:47:43] Yeah.
[00:47:44] It's way cheaper.
[00:47:45] I think it's like 35 bucks or it's no, it's a sliding scale out here.
[00:47:48] Right.
[00:47:49] Yeah.
[00:47:49] You're right.
[00:47:50] You're right.
[00:47:50] And then for.
[00:47:51] So that's to skip the line.
[00:47:52] So you paid 13 bucks and you skip the line.
[00:47:55] Right.
[00:47:55] Okay.
[00:47:56] And for the other rides you can pay for, which I think we only really paid for one ride that
[00:48:05] was like that was to go on journey to the center of the earth.
[00:48:10] And that was like the lesser ride.
[00:48:12] And that was pretty much 10 bucks U.S. to skip the ride.
[00:48:16] Okay.
[00:48:16] In your notes, it's journey to Cotie.
[00:48:19] Yeah.
[00:48:19] Journey to the center of the earth.
[00:48:21] Now I get it.
[00:48:22] And that's 10 bucks.
[00:48:23] And that's a mysterious island.
[00:48:25] Yeah.
[00:48:26] Yeah.
[00:48:26] That's the area.
[00:48:27] I love that.
[00:48:27] I love the naming scheme for these.
[00:48:29] It's so cool.
[00:48:30] Mysterious Island.
[00:48:32] Yeah.
[00:48:33] Disney Sea Park is my favorite park by far.
[00:48:36] It's, it's.
[00:48:37] I hear that.
[00:48:38] Everybody who goes.
[00:48:39] Everybody says that.
[00:48:40] Yeah.
[00:48:41] It was, it's one of those things where when you get there and you see all of it, like,
[00:48:46] like it's been a very long time since I've been so excited and just so blown away with
[00:48:51] how amazing everything is.
[00:48:52] Like, you know, like the excitement you used to get when you go to the park, like, oh, there's
[00:48:55] this new land.
[00:48:56] Oh, there's this new ride.
[00:48:57] Like that was like the entire time over there.
[00:48:59] Even with the rides that exist in the U.S. park, it was still better in a lot of ways.
[00:49:04] So yeah, I would definitely like in Florida when we went, I didn't want to go to the rides
[00:49:08] that we have in California.
[00:49:11] You know, it's like I've done, they're basically the same, but I would not do that in Tokyo.
[00:49:15] I would go to the rides because I know they're not going to be a one for one.
[00:49:19] It's going to be different no matter what, even if it's just the language safety spiel
[00:49:24] in the beginning.
[00:49:26] Something.
[00:49:26] Totally.
[00:49:27] I don't know.
[00:49:27] Yeah.
[00:49:27] I think that like the interesting thing about the rides in general, everything feels a little
[00:49:33] bit older, but in a good way.
[00:49:35] Interesting.
[00:49:36] Okay.
[00:49:36] Like comfortable, not shiny.
[00:49:40] I don't know, but safe.
[00:49:41] Yeah.
[00:49:41] I think a little bit of that.
[00:49:43] I mean, a lot of them felt newer, but they still just felt like they felt like they've
[00:49:47] been there for a long time.
[00:49:48] So like an example I'll give you is Pirates of the Caribbean.
[00:49:52] Yeah.
[00:49:53] It is effectively the same ride, except the queue is great and all of the original ride elements
[00:50:01] are still there.
[00:50:02] Every single one of them.
[00:50:04] Right.
[00:50:04] So like what?
[00:50:05] Like the auction off a bride is still there.
[00:50:09] Okay.
[00:50:09] Like the pirates chasing the women around circles.
[00:50:12] Oh, I imagine.
[00:50:13] Yeah.
[00:50:13] I can't imagine that Japan is going to get rid of that.
[00:50:16] Yeah.
[00:50:17] Yeah.
[00:50:17] So, so yeah, it's, it was just interesting to see, like, it's kind of fun that everything
[00:50:22] is still like pretty much OG and like, like journey to the center of the earth.
[00:50:27] That ride was like, you could tell it's been around for a while, but it didn't matter because
[00:50:32] it was so good.
[00:50:33] Like the theming, the sounds, the ride, the queue to get there.
[00:50:38] Just 10 out of 10, 11 out of 10, even like the whole time.
[00:50:43] Damn.
[00:50:43] He's going for it.
[00:50:44] It almost sounds like it's like a nostalgic dream for Disney fans.
[00:50:50] Yeah.
[00:50:50] It just like, like that little area, there's two rides in and then there's the volcano.
[00:50:54] Right.
[00:50:54] And you're just standing there waiting to get a gyoza dog and the volcano is erupting
[00:50:59] and you can feel the heat of the flames.
[00:51:00] I'm sorry.
[00:51:01] Hold on.
[00:51:01] Hold on a second.
[00:51:04] What?
[00:51:05] What is a gyoza dog?
[00:51:08] I sent you a picture.
[00:51:09] I believe it's, it's a, so you know how you have a pork bun and it's like round and
[00:51:13] white.
[00:51:14] Sure.
[00:51:14] Sure.
[00:51:14] So this is a hot dog shaped one, like a long one.
[00:51:18] And in the center, it's like the filling of gyoza.
[00:51:21] God.
[00:51:22] Oh.
[00:51:23] It was really good.
[00:51:25] I know it sounds delicious, but like I can't think of like who put this together.
[00:51:30] Well, cause they're trying to come up with the Japanese version of a hot dog and they
[00:51:34] did it.
[00:51:35] Corn dog.
[00:51:35] It sounds like it's on a stick.
[00:51:38] No, no, it's not a stick.
[00:51:40] Well, and it's not deep fried.
[00:51:41] It's just, um, it's just a, it's like a bow.
[00:51:44] It's like a bow.
[00:51:45] Yeah.
[00:51:45] It's so, it's like, cause gyoza is fried.
[00:51:46] Right?
[00:51:47] Yeah.
[00:51:47] So it's a long, it's a long bow.
[00:51:50] Yeah.
[00:51:51] You know, it's, it's probably about that.
[00:51:52] It's probably about a foot long or so, maybe a little less than a foot.
[00:51:55] Yeah.
[00:51:56] Yeah.
[00:51:56] So, you know, you know me, I'm like, Oh, it's like glizzy gyoza.
[00:52:00] I'm about that.
[00:52:01] Let's try it out for the lulls.
[00:52:03] And then I had one.
[00:52:03] I'm like, this is amazing.
[00:52:04] Of course.
[00:52:05] And this is what I was talking about, about the food.
[00:52:08] It's like, I would be, I would just spend a day doing that and getting sick.
[00:52:12] I would.
[00:52:12] Yeah.
[00:52:13] I would want to try every single thing.
[00:52:15] Every single thing.
[00:52:16] I would probably, that's, I would probably go for two weeks and every day I would just
[00:52:20] spend at one food cart going through everything.
[00:52:24] So that was basically our Japan trip in general was like, we went for the food.
[00:52:29] 95% of our map were places to eat.
[00:52:32] Yeah.
[00:52:33] It has to be.
[00:52:34] Yeah.
[00:52:35] Yeah.
[00:52:35] The one, one tip I got to give everybody though, cause I, this was kind of a letdown
[00:52:40] cause I did not find this in my research.
[00:52:43] Things that's like the little kiosks that sell food and treats and snacks there, they like will
[00:52:49] close at random times and they're all different and they all have different closing times in
[00:52:53] some cases.
[00:52:54] Like, it's very odd.
[00:52:55] There was this, um, everyone raved about this.
[00:52:59] Uh, it's like a salt ice cream.
[00:53:02] That's like over in the little, like the little mermaid area.
[00:53:05] And I'm like, it's a hot day, dude.
[00:53:07] Let's go get that.
[00:53:08] It was like two o'clock in the afternoon.
[00:53:10] Yeah.
[00:53:10] Closed.
[00:53:11] And we're just like, that's it.
[00:53:14] That was our last day.
[00:53:15] It was, we're never going to be here at 2 PM.
[00:53:17] So we didn't have getting it, but, um, and like a lot of places close early too.
[00:53:21] So like your, your options start to get limited.
[00:53:23] So like, if you do go for food, go for food and maybe spend an extra day just to chase
[00:53:28] food.
[00:53:28] Okay.
[00:53:29] To make sure you get it all.
[00:53:30] Interesting.
[00:53:31] I'm looking through, uh, your chart of rides here.
[00:53:35] So you had another 11 out of 10, which is Indiana Jones and the temple of the crystal
[00:53:39] skull.
[00:53:40] What was so good about that?
[00:53:42] I mean, it wasn't that a terrible movie.
[00:53:45] Is it based on the movie?
[00:53:46] Then either have I.
[00:53:49] We've we'll probably watch it, but probably not for a while.
[00:53:52] Um, the, the queue was incredible.
[00:53:58] It was a giant Mayan pyramid.
[00:54:00] And to get into it, you walk through like this little jungle area.
[00:54:04] And like, I sent you some pictures and like, there's like an excavation happening in the
[00:54:09] eatery nearby.
[00:54:10] And you walk through and you see these like big holes in the ground with like bones coming
[00:54:13] out.
[00:54:14] It's, it's super cool.
[00:54:15] Wow.
[00:54:15] And then you go into the Mayan pyramid and the theming is phenomenal.
[00:54:19] Like there's a, there's a hole in the ceiling and there's water dripping from the ceiling
[00:54:24] into a big puddle down the bottom.
[00:54:26] It's just, the theme was impeccable.
[00:54:28] It was better than the U S I love the theming of the U S one in California.
[00:54:32] Yeah.
[00:54:33] This one was better in my opinion.
[00:54:35] Yeah.
[00:54:35] Okay.
[00:54:36] I mean, I wonder if it's a, you know, thematically correct.
[00:54:39] I mean, did the Mayans have a puddle of water?
[00:54:41] I don't know.
[00:54:43] I don't know about that.
[00:54:44] Now did they, did they know about dripping?
[00:54:48] Dripping technology was not invented.
[00:54:50] I didn't think so.
[00:54:51] They called them out on that.
[00:54:51] You know what?
[00:54:52] Ancient, ancient aliens.
[00:54:53] In my English language, I told them this is not like, Oh, okay, please move forward.
[00:55:00] The, I think the other thing about that ride, which made an 11 out of 10 for me was like,
[00:55:06] it took everything that the ride in the U S is supposed to be.
[00:55:09] And it worked.
[00:55:11] Everything worked perfectly and everything happened at the right time.
[00:55:14] And it was thrilling.
[00:55:15] And maybe I couldn't, because I couldn't understand the people in the car next to me.
[00:55:19] They're just yelling and saying things to Japanese.
[00:55:21] But like, I got off that ride, like super pumped.
[00:55:25] I was thrilled.
[00:55:26] I was legitimately thrilled riding it.
[00:55:27] The snake was perfect.
[00:55:28] The eye shooting at the right time.
[00:55:30] The sounds were on dial.
[00:55:32] Everything was dialed in.
[00:55:33] So you're not, you're not talking worked as in like a conceptually you're talking.
[00:55:37] It's like functionality was, was, was on.
[00:55:41] It didn't go down a single time.
[00:55:42] Wow.
[00:55:43] And everything was in sync.
[00:55:45] What is so funny about just even that statement is like, as somebody who has ridden that ride so many times in my life,
[00:55:55] I didn't really think about it until you just said it.
[00:55:58] How, how not often I have gone on it where it has worked all well.
[00:56:06] Like, either the eye is not working or the, the big boulder's not working or the snake's not, like something is always not working.
[00:56:14] But I didn't really realize that until you said that everything was working.
[00:56:18] I was like, oh, that would be really nice.
[00:56:21] Yeah.
[00:56:21] Yeah.
[00:56:21] And it was more detailed.
[00:56:22] Like the, like, you know, when you go through the, like they shoot the, like, you know, arrows past you or whatever.
[00:56:29] And it's just like painted wall.
[00:56:31] It's just flat with some tubes sticking out.
[00:56:32] Like, if I recall, there were like carved statues like that were textured in 3D and it would just, it felt, everything felt so much better.
[00:56:42] See, and it was just.
[00:56:43] This is interesting to me because I want to find out if that was actually true or if you were so hopped up on the goofer that you, in hindsight, you're like, dude, they were real skeletons.
[00:56:54] And they were reaching for me, brother.
[00:56:56] And they were saying, join us.
[00:56:58] You know, like, I wonder if you're just like making that up because like in your head, it just sounds, you know, you want it to be that much cooler.
[00:57:06] That could be the case there.
[00:57:07] Like, I vaguely remember that, but I think I remember that.
[00:57:10] But I will say there was a point where I was sitting in the front right.
[00:57:13] Yeah.
[00:57:13] And we turned a corner and a skeleton reached me and I could have, I could have grabbed it.
[00:57:17] I could have grabbed it.
[00:57:17] It was right in my face.
[00:57:18] Oh, man.
[00:57:19] It was crazy.
[00:57:20] I was like, stay with him.
[00:57:21] Probably.
[00:57:22] Yeah.
[00:57:22] I was like, how do people not like, how is this?
[00:57:25] Okay.
[00:57:26] Like, if this is America, it'd be trashed.
[00:57:27] Oh, my God.
[00:57:29] Absolutely.
[00:57:30] Absolutely.
[00:57:31] You have another one here.
[00:57:34] Let me see the Baymax one, which you call Baymax sprays you in the face with water and you'll enjoy it.
[00:57:40] Right.
[00:57:41] It wasn't even a ride, dude.
[00:57:43] Oh, it was just Baymax.
[00:57:46] It's an attraction.
[00:57:47] Oh, yeah.
[00:57:48] We were.
[00:57:49] It was so funny.
[00:57:50] This is the funniest thing.
[00:57:50] It was the like the we just got in.
[00:57:53] We had some food.
[00:57:54] We were sitting down.
[00:57:55] I think I was like put on sunscreen or something.
[00:57:57] And it was really hot, really, really hot.
[00:57:59] And like we're sitting in this little place where we got some like bread.
[00:58:02] I think that's where I got like the Mike Wazowski bread or something.
[00:58:05] And we're sitting there and you see this Baymax float coming by and there's music.
[00:58:09] And I'm like, oh, that's cool.
[00:58:10] There's a little parade starting.
[00:58:11] It must be a parade.
[00:58:11] And there's kids just standing there going like this, like just wait.
[00:58:15] And we're like, just like arms to the arms to the sky, like at a revival tent.
[00:58:19] Yeah.
[00:58:20] Not every kid was like that, but I definitely saw at least one.
[00:58:23] See again.
[00:58:25] And I'm just like these kids like they have.
[00:58:26] They do have a Baymax ride.
[00:58:28] And so they love Baymax there.
[00:58:29] And I was like, cool.
[00:58:31] It's probably a parade.
[00:58:32] Yeah.
[00:58:32] And then like we're watching it and they just start blasting water at these kids.
[00:58:37] And they're just like get blasted in the face of water.
[00:58:40] We're like, what is happening, dude?
[00:58:42] Is it like with squirt guns or is it like from UHF where you get to drink from the fire hose?
[00:58:47] Like it was it was a solid, you know, like it was a stream.
[00:58:50] It was like a fountain stream.
[00:58:52] Wow.
[00:58:52] Shooting at them, like picking them off as it went by.
[00:58:55] And like spraying mist.
[00:58:57] It was.
[00:58:57] Yeah.
[00:58:57] And so like I guess they really care about your health while you're there and your safety.
[00:59:02] Oh, that can't be true.
[00:59:03] There's no way.
[00:59:05] No government entity or any sort of organization anywhere cares about people's health.
[00:59:10] Right.
[00:59:11] Right.
[00:59:12] Yeah.
[00:59:12] So like they're spraying you with water to cool you down.
[00:59:15] And then they had announcements.
[00:59:17] It was actually pretty cute.
[00:59:18] Like as you're walking, you hear announcements in Japanese and in English saying, hey, everybody,
[00:59:22] it's really warm today.
[00:59:23] Please make sure you seek some shade and take breaks and don't forget to drink some water.
[00:59:26] And you're just like, that's nice.
[00:59:28] Why?
[00:59:29] Why are they being so nice to me?
[00:59:31] Like what's going on here?
[00:59:32] You feel you're walking around feeling all suspect of everything.
[00:59:36] Right.
[00:59:37] Right.
[00:59:38] Right.
[00:59:38] Right.
[00:59:38] Right.
[00:59:38] What was a terrible ride?
[00:59:40] What was the worst attraction or ride that you did there?
[00:59:44] Oh, man.
[00:59:45] This is going to sound crazy, but I'm looking at my ratings right now.
[00:59:49] Okay.
[00:59:49] There's there's kind of two for different reasons.
[00:59:52] So I'm going to get I'm going to do the shock factor first.
[00:59:54] Big Thunder.
[00:59:55] Wow.
[00:59:56] Interesting.
[00:59:57] Yeah.
[00:59:59] The theming was great.
[01:00:00] Like Big Thunder always is.
[01:00:02] Okay.
[01:00:02] It was not fast.
[01:00:04] There was maybe one turn like it was it was quote unquote fast.
[01:00:07] But there was one turn where I was like, oh, here we go.
[01:00:09] And then it slowed down.
[01:00:10] And you're just like, it's just condensed.
[01:00:13] Right.
[01:00:13] Oh, that's so bad.
[01:00:15] Yeah.
[01:00:15] It was a little bit of a bummer because that's like the most thrilling ride they had in that
[01:00:18] park because I mentioned earlier Space Mountain was down.
[01:00:20] Right.
[01:00:21] So, yeah.
[01:00:23] Similar to that.
[01:00:24] There is a ride called Raging Spirits, which is a roller coaster.
[01:00:29] Okay.
[01:00:29] Sounds awesome.
[01:00:30] I would I would actually technically rank lower because it was it was even smaller and
[01:00:35] it was even slower.
[01:00:36] It had one loop.
[01:00:38] The one loop was the one time for half a second.
[01:00:40] You're like, yes.
[01:00:41] And then it's over.
[01:00:42] Oh, it's like a kid's ride then.
[01:00:44] Oh, yeah.
[01:00:44] And I couldn't fit in it at first.
[01:00:46] I had to like I like it's so small.
[01:00:49] I like put my foot in.
[01:00:51] I tried to sit and then I'm like, oh, I can't move my knee.
[01:00:54] I had to get out and re-approach it just to get in.
[01:00:57] This is me in most of the rides at this park at Disneyland.
[01:01:02] I can't I can't do it.
[01:01:04] Impossible.
[01:01:05] How tall are you?
[01:01:05] What how tall guy are you?
[01:01:07] Six to six to.
[01:01:08] Yeah, I'm six five.
[01:01:11] I would hate it over there.
[01:01:13] You would like me to get your head on a lot of things.
[01:01:16] Yeah, for sure.
[01:01:17] Which is fine.
[01:01:17] You know, you can hear the gong from a mile away real fast before we wrap it up.
[01:01:22] I do want to talk about the height of different stuff.
[01:01:24] Now, do they have different height requirements as in the U.S. parks or is it kind of all the same?
[01:01:29] I guess you didn't compare them, but is stuff shorter there than it is over here?
[01:01:35] Is that a hard thing to get used to?
[01:01:36] Like when you wash your hands in the restroom, were you bending over like lurch?
[01:01:41] Yeah, things are short for sure.
[01:01:42] A hundred percent everywhere you go.
[01:01:44] That is where I should live.
[01:01:47] Yeah, the the the hotel we stayed at, I think is like kind of like I think one of the reasons I was attracted to it because it looked more like a U.S. hotel room and the counters were higher there.
[01:01:55] But yes, everywhere you go is a little bit shorter.
[01:01:59] I don't have kids, so I didn't look at the heights.
[01:02:01] They were probably about the same.
[01:02:03] How are the beds when you were in the hotels?
[01:02:05] Were they like long normal or were they like five feet and you're just you're hanging off the end of them?
[01:02:11] The biggest bed that I slept in was at this hotel at the parks and it was a double.
[01:02:19] Oh, so my feet were still hanging off.
[01:02:22] But at least it was wide, wider.
[01:02:25] Sure.
[01:02:25] And like we had a double room and so it was just two of us.
[01:02:29] And so we pushed the beds together to make one big bed.
[01:02:32] We each kind of got like a double to ourselves, which was kind of nice.
[01:02:35] But in general, the beds are much smaller and you definitely should plan for that.
[01:02:41] OK, see, this is what I wouldn't think about.
[01:02:44] And then I would go there and I would be miserable because I need space.
[01:02:48] And when I'm sleeping, I need it.
[01:02:49] Or you at least need to know going in that like you're going to have to sleep diagonal.
[01:02:53] No, I wouldn't go.
[01:02:54] I'd be like, oh, that's not going or I'm sleeping on the floor.
[01:02:57] The beds are very stiff, too.
[01:02:59] There's almost no padding and I'm not even exaggerating.
[01:03:02] Like it is like sleeping on the floor almost in most places.
[01:03:05] And the reason another reason I chose the Sheraton is because I saw some girl do a review and she's like, here's how thick the mattress is in the Hilton.
[01:03:14] And it was like she held her hand up and it was like, you know, about this much of her hand.
[01:03:18] And she's like, here's at the Sheraton.
[01:03:19] And it's just like there's an actual cushion here and it's a little bit more comfortable.
[01:03:22] And it was so.
[01:03:24] So you have to teach your friends who you went with how to do research like that because apparently nobody knows.
[01:03:29] Yeah.
[01:03:30] Apparently they didn't know.
[01:03:31] They shorted you on everything.
[01:03:34] Yeah.
[01:03:35] Well, I love it.
[01:03:36] I think it's great.
[01:03:37] It sounds like Japan has everything.
[01:03:38] But you know what it doesn't have?
[01:03:40] Hell or high.
[01:03:41] What is it called?
[01:03:43] Twilight.
[01:03:45] Eclipse.
[01:03:45] Oh, twilight.
[01:03:46] Yeah.
[01:03:46] You're right.
[01:03:47] Sully's going to kill you.
[01:03:48] Hell or high twilight from the 21st amendment.
[01:03:50] You can go check that out now.
[01:03:51] It is their winter seasonal.
[01:03:53] No more is the hell or high pomegranate, which brings much sadness to the generations before and after Taryn.
[01:04:00] So disappointed.
[01:04:01] But that's okay.
[01:04:02] People love a hell or high twilight.
[01:04:03] It's good to change things up a little bit.
[01:04:05] And it's a very citrus forward beer.
[01:04:07] So if you like, I like to think it's like an American wit beer.
[01:04:12] So if you're like a Belgian wit beer, like a, you know, Blue Moon or, you know, St. Bernardus wit or something like that, or even the Allagash wit.
[01:04:20] But it's like that, but a little bit more malty and not as like flowery with like cardamom, not cardamom, but I can't, I can't.
[01:04:32] Birds, grains of paradise, but I can't remember.
[01:04:34] Anyway, whatever.
[01:04:35] It doesn't matter.
[01:04:36] It's very delightful.
[01:04:37] It has a really bright citrus note, but it still has a lot of malt in it too to kind of keep it more winter in like the winter vein.
[01:04:43] It does feel like a winter beer.
[01:04:44] Yeah.
[01:04:45] Yeah.
[01:04:45] It's great.
[01:04:46] It's good stuff.
[01:04:47] So you can check that out there.
[01:04:48] You know, wherever 21st Amendment is sold, you can go to 21stamendment.com and find that out.
[01:04:52] And if you're in the Bay Area, please go visit the San Leandro Brewery and the San Francisco one as well.
[01:04:58] It has a nice brew pub.
[01:04:59] That's the original place.
[01:05:01] Both places have food and both places are great.
[01:05:03] And you know what?
[01:05:04] Maybe if you go to San Leandro, P and I'll meet you out there and you can buy us a beer.
[01:05:08] What do you think of that?
[01:05:09] There you go.
[01:05:10] That's all you got to say.
[01:05:11] I take anyone who visits me.
[01:05:13] I take them there and I make them buy me beer.
[01:05:14] It's great.
[01:05:15] Hell yeah, dude.
[01:05:15] I love that for you.
[01:05:16] Basically same.
[01:05:17] Yeah, for sure.
[01:05:18] I mean, because they have a giant outdoor area.
[01:05:20] And so I love getting there.
[01:05:21] They open at noon on the weekends.
[01:05:22] We get there at noon or 1150.
[01:05:25] Go sit out there.
[01:05:26] You get some food, get a beer or two, and you just like spend a couple hours.
[01:05:30] The food is amazing.
[01:05:32] It's ideal.
[01:05:34] Kind of ideal.
[01:05:34] Actually, I changed my mind.
[01:05:35] Nobody go there because I don't want it to start being this big thing as much as Sully
[01:05:41] would be like, what are you doing?
[01:05:43] I want my own place, man.
[01:05:45] Yeah.
[01:05:46] It's super good.
[01:05:47] I love that place.
[01:05:48] Dude, that place is big enough where Sully should make a Club 33 equivalent and just pay
[01:05:56] and just charge membership fee and be like, all right, for $10,000 a year, you get to
[01:06:03] get on this second level and it's a private club and you can do the things or whatever.
[01:06:08] Oh, yeah.
[01:06:10] I bet he makes some money.
[01:06:12] Good idea.
[01:06:13] P, thanks, man.
[01:06:14] I appreciate the rundown.
[01:06:15] And if anyone's listening live who's a Patreon member, you can look forward to more P in about
[01:06:23] 15 minutes.
[01:06:24] And we'll talk a little bit more about his trip probably and do a bunch of Disney news.
[01:06:29] We have a drink, of course, to make.
[01:06:31] I have a cocktail to go make.
[01:06:32] It's going to be a hot chocolate with some booze.
[01:06:34] I'm excited about it.
[01:06:35] Love that.
[01:06:35] And if you want to be a Patreon member, go to patreon.com slash ears up.
[01:06:38] You get the link right there.
[01:06:39] You can pop over and once we end this stream, we'll just start the one on YouTube and go make
[01:06:45] the drink and, you know, kind of hang out a little bit.
[01:06:48] What do you think of that?
[01:06:49] Yeah.
[01:06:49] Yeah.
[01:06:50] And if anybody, you guys also have a discord and like I have an entire document I put together,
[01:06:55] like we barely scratched the surface.
[01:06:56] Like we didn't even talk about, you know, the Tower of Terror, for example.
[01:07:01] Right.
[01:07:01] That's a crazy thing.
[01:07:02] A really cool thing.
[01:07:03] So like just hit me up on the discord and I'll share with whatever I can.
[01:07:06] There you go.
[01:07:07] Yeah.
[01:07:07] And if you want the link to the discord, it's always in the show notes and, you know,
[01:07:11] stuff like that.
[01:07:12] So P, I appreciate it, dude.
[01:07:13] Once again, thank you very much.
[01:07:14] It sounds like you had a great time and I can't wait to hear more about it when you
[01:07:18] go next time and we stay here.
[01:07:21] I'll go with you.
[01:07:22] Tara, go with you.
[01:07:23] Yeah.
[01:07:23] Yeah.
[01:07:24] Sounds good.
[01:07:24] I'll stay home by myself.
[01:07:25] You have to bring Alice.
[01:07:27] That's the thing.
[01:07:27] I'll bring Alice.
[01:07:28] Oh, hell yeah, dude.
[01:07:29] So I'll get three weeks by myself.
[01:07:31] I'm not going for three weeks.
[01:07:32] I'll go for two weeks.
[01:07:34] But yeah.
[01:07:34] Oh, okay.
[01:07:35] You could go for three weeks.
[01:07:36] That's pretty good.
[01:07:37] Yeah.
[01:07:38] I'll get two weeks by myself.
[01:07:39] Great.
[01:07:40] All right, everybody.
[01:07:41] Thank you.
[01:07:41] Thank you lot.
[01:07:42] Thank you lot.
[01:07:43] Much Times, everybody.
[01:07:44] I appreciate the things that you're doing for me right now.
[01:07:47] Where's my outro?
[01:07:48] There it is.
[01:07:50] All right.
[01:07:50] Yeah.
[01:07:51] Thanks for listening, everybody.
[01:07:52] I appreciate it.
[01:07:52] And next time you hear our voices, well, it'll be January because this is our last show for
[01:07:58] December.
[01:07:58] But I'm in the process of editing the Buena Vista Boys new show we just edited.
[01:08:03] We just recorded last night.
[01:08:05] It's The Treasure of Matakumbe.
[01:08:07] It's just a weird movie.
[01:08:08] It sounds weird.
[01:08:09] It's on Disney Plus if you want to watch it.
[01:08:11] It's bizarre.
[01:08:12] It is absolutely bizarre.
[01:08:15] The cool thing is, or one of the cool things is one of the characters in it is the same
[01:08:21] actor who did the voice for Prince John in the Robin Hood cartoon.
[01:08:24] And you can hear it whenever he like kind of does these little, blah, blah, blah, blah,
[01:08:29] blah, blah, blah.
[01:08:30] He's also the voice of the walrus in Alice in Wonderland.
[01:08:35] Cool.
[01:08:36] Kind of neat.
[01:08:37] I don't know.
[01:08:37] That's why I like doing that show.
[01:08:38] It's pretty fun.
[01:08:39] So that should be out, I'm going to guess, Monday or something like that.
[01:08:42] And then, you know, look forward to that.
[01:08:44] So it'll be a good time.
[01:08:45] All right.
[01:08:46] Thank you very much, everybody.
[01:08:48] And until next time, see the parks.
