[00:00:30] On this episode of Bantha Milk Podcast, we break down episodes uno and dos of the Skeleton Crew. Arr matey.
[00:01:04] What up people? It is Rob flying solo. Nick was supposed to be joining us, but he got himself sick.
[00:01:14] So, while you hear my wonderful voice, you won't be able to hear Nick's voice at all because he called me yesterday and was like, I don't think this is gonna work.
[00:01:26] So, here we are with me. But these first two episodes of the Skeleton Crew were so good that I wanted to make sure we broke them down and give them the justice and the time that they deserved because I don't want to wait another week and then try and break down three episodes because these first two were phenomenal.
[00:01:49] So, I loved it. I loved it. I don't know what you thought. Tell me in the comments. Tell me what you think if you liked it or not.
[00:01:57] I really, really enjoyed it, especially the first episode. I was watching the first episode and I'm thinking, you know what? This would be awesome.
[00:02:04] I would watch a whole season just of this, of a Goonies or Stranger Things or any type of a great kid's story or even like a coming of age story, which is what this is labeled as.
[00:02:19] But set with cool Star Wars effects. The town looked like a typical town, but it had its Star Wars-y take on it.
[00:02:31] All the vehicles were your normal cars, station wagons, buses, whatever, but they all had a Star Wars take on it.
[00:02:39] So, I really, really enjoyed the first episode. The first episode was nice and long. It really got a lot of building.
[00:02:46] I thought they were going to take two episodes until they got to taking off on the spaceship.
[00:02:51] I thought a lot more was going to happen with the kids in the town before this, but they did a very good job of having all the kids' backstory wrapped up into one good episode.
[00:03:04] And then the second episode was a good episode of kids being lost in space.
[00:03:09] So many references to so many other movies and things like that.
[00:03:14] So, I have a lot of notes. I'm just going to start reading through them and telling you what I thought and all the different things that I saw.
[00:03:21] Because it was really, really good. I really enjoyed it a lot.
[00:03:25] And I hope you did as well.
[00:03:27] And I hope with this, all these extra things that I had to tell you, you can appreciate it even more and see where all these little references and little Easter eggs came from.
[00:03:39] So, I start out by asking you, what do you get when you take the Goonies, Explorers, 1940s Pirate serials, Aladdin, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, A New Hope, Ready Player One, Back to the Future, Star Tours,
[00:03:55] the Star Wars Galactic Express, E.T., and you combine all those together.
[00:04:01] Bam! That's what we have right now with the skeleton crew.
[00:04:06] Because so many references to 80s movies.
[00:04:10] And even, I felt, one of the very last scenes was a very Easter egg homage to Aladdin.
[00:04:19] A scene in Aladdin.
[00:04:21] Because of when Aladdin gets trapped in the jail.
[00:04:25] I felt it was the same exact thing as that.
[00:04:27] So, that was 93. I looked it up.
[00:04:28] I loved Aladdin the cartoon.
[00:04:31] Hated the live action.
[00:04:33] Loved the cartoon.
[00:04:34] And I saw it three times in the theater in 93.
[00:04:39] And then I wore out a videotape VHS way back in the day of Aladdin.
[00:04:45] I watched it so many times at home.
[00:04:47] So, you put all those together and you get the skeleton crew.
[00:04:50] First thing I want to do, I want to thank Screen Rant.
[00:04:54] Because they have a breakdown of every new and returning alien race in Star Wars The Skeleton Crew.
[00:05:01] So, I'm going to go through all these real fast for you.
[00:05:03] There was 36 new and returning characters between these two episodes.
[00:05:08] The first one had a lot of different characters at home.
[00:05:13] And then when they got to the spaceport in episode two, a lot of different characters there as well.
[00:05:17] By the way, if you didn't see by the title, I'm breaking down skeleton crew.
[00:05:23] So, if you didn't see it yet, spoilers are coming.
[00:05:28] Alright.
[00:05:29] First is Neil's species.
[00:05:31] He is the same thing as Max Rebo and Orleton.
[00:05:37] Just like Max Rebo is.
[00:05:38] So, he's just a child version.
[00:05:42] And I really appreciate him.
[00:05:43] I like him.
[00:05:44] I think he's fun.
[00:05:45] He is played by...
[00:05:49] Robert Timothy Smith plays him.
[00:05:52] I'm not sure if he's the character inside.
[00:05:54] That would be really cool if he was the character inside as well.
[00:05:57] Or if he just donates the voice to it.
[00:06:00] But his character is fun.
[00:06:01] I like him so far.
[00:06:02] I can't complain about him.
[00:06:04] A Vizuna is the little green, mousy-esque character that...
[00:06:10] Runa, one of Neil's classmates.
[00:06:12] The one that Neil has a little crush on.
[00:06:14] She was a little bit of a brown-noser in this.
[00:06:16] Oh, I want to be a...
[00:06:17] Shut up.
[00:06:18] And then we had a Shistivian, which is the Wolfman.
[00:06:23] Now, the Wolfman...
[00:06:25] We saw him if you saw an unedited version of A New Hope.
[00:06:30] He was one of the characters in the background of the cantina.
[00:06:35] Because they needed extra characters.
[00:06:38] They didn't have the money to make more props.
[00:06:41] So they went to a prop trailer on wherever they were.
[00:06:45] And found a Wolfman head.
[00:06:46] And they said, this is perfect.
[00:06:47] Let's do this.
[00:06:48] So then there was a Wolfman in the background.
[00:06:50] Later on, when they re-edited it...
[00:06:52] He was dubbed out and replaced with a different character.
[00:06:55] So that was pretty interesting.
[00:06:56] Warthog is another character.
[00:06:58] He debuted in The Mandalorian Season 3.
[00:07:01] With one member of his species.
[00:07:04] Serving as a member of Captain Goradian Shard's pirate crew.
[00:07:08] Once again, it may or may not be the same person.
[00:07:11] Originally referred to as the Frog People.
[00:07:13] Many receive a proper name from future Star Wars books.
[00:07:17] 32.
[00:07:18] Nikto.
[00:07:18] We saw him in Star Wars...
[00:07:22] Nikto's species debuted in Star Wars Legends.
[00:07:25] Continuously, infamously in Star Wars Holiday Special.
[00:07:27] Before making their next live animation appearance in Return of the Jedi.
[00:07:30] In the original Legends incarnation, Nikto had five subspecies.
[00:07:34] With three appearing in the modern canon iteration so far.
[00:07:38] Vayne, a pirate and member of the Kajisan Nikto subspecies.
[00:07:44] Debuted in The Mandalorian.
[00:07:45] And has reappeared in the skeleton crew.
[00:07:47] So it's the same guy that we saw in Mandalorian.
[00:07:50] He's the one pirate that got away after they beat up all...
[00:07:53] Or fought all the pirates and destroyed them all.
[00:07:56] He was the one that got away.
[00:07:57] There was a Quarren that we saw there.
[00:07:59] It is a sapien deep-speed cellopods from Mon Calamari.
[00:08:05] They're the ones that have the tentacles on their face.
[00:08:07] We saw one in Jabba the Hudson Count in Return of the Jedi since 1983.
[00:08:12] Quarren have appeared in numerous Star Wars properties.
[00:08:14] We saw Gran, which we previously saw in the Jedi Council.
[00:08:19] Or not the Jedi Council.
[00:08:23] But in Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Legends continue in the modern canon.
[00:08:27] Gran had made many appearances with information broker.
[00:08:30] HT88 hiring Gran, Berusers as henchmen.
[00:08:33] And Malwah Honek competing in the Boonta Eve Classic.
[00:08:37] At least one grand pirate has appeared in skeleton crew so far.
[00:08:41] Rodian, we saw a Rodian, which is of course, you know, Greedo shot first.
[00:08:44] We saw a Clatoonian, which is...
[00:08:46] He kind of looks like a bulldog.
[00:08:49] But he debuted in Return of the Jedi with Barata serving as a skiff guard in the film's famous Scarlet Pit sequence.
[00:09:00] Clatoonians have been around.
[00:09:01] We also saw him in Book of Boba Fett.
[00:09:03] We saw an Ithorian.
[00:09:05] We saw a baby Ithorian.
[00:09:06] Not a baby Ithorian.
[00:09:07] They're the hammerhead looking ones.
[00:09:09] We saw a child Ithorian in Wim's classroom.
[00:09:15] And it's interesting because Ithorians speak a species that nobody else can say.
[00:09:20] But apparently this other kid could understand him.
[00:09:25] From my previous understanding of the Ithorians,
[00:09:28] nobody could understand what they were saying either if you weren't a hammerhead.
[00:09:32] They had boxes on each side and they have two mouths, one on each side.
[00:09:37] So they had boxes on each mouth that would translate what they were saying into basic.
[00:09:42] But in this episode in skeleton crew,
[00:09:46] you could...
[00:09:46] The other kids in class could understand him.
[00:09:48] There was an Isha...
[00:09:49] Isha Tibb, which is an amphibious Isha Tibb species,
[00:09:53] first appeared in Return of the Jedi.
[00:09:55] A Katerian, which recent edition of Star Wars franchise debuting in the modern canon Star Wars The Last Jedi.
[00:10:03] A Weakway, which was the bartender in Mandalorian.
[00:10:06] We saw him.
[00:10:07] He's also in Book of Boba Fett.
[00:10:09] Moss Plago's Freetown's bartender.
[00:10:12] We saw him in skeleton crew.
[00:10:14] A lot of these bigger thug-like creatures we saw on the asteroid base.
[00:10:21] But then some cute ones we see back at home in the school.
[00:10:28] There's a Grindalo, which is the white worms.
[00:10:32] Apparently you saw one of them on the base.
[00:10:36] Jawas were running around the base.
[00:10:38] Kaizuko, which is skeleton crew live action appearance of Kaizuko,
[00:10:43] debuted in Star Wars The Clone Wars.
[00:10:44] He was a bounty hunter.
[00:10:46] No, there was a bounty hunter named Embo.
[00:10:47] Then Aqualish, which they have like a weird, like teeth, big teeth.
[00:10:53] Tusk Aqualish species made famous by the brutal criminal Ponda Boba,
[00:10:58] whose choice to pick a fight with Luke Skywalker cost him an arm.
[00:11:01] He was in Episode 4 when he said, we don't like you.
[00:11:04] And he got, you know, his arm taken off.
[00:11:07] And Askejani, which is the dancer with multiple breasts.
[00:11:14] We saw one of her outside of the dance bar.
[00:11:18] Asnivian.
[00:11:20] Moss Isley in A New Hope.
[00:11:22] He was also in the background.
[00:11:23] Mandalorian Book of Boba Fett.
[00:11:25] Skeleton crew now has him as well.
[00:11:27] Tuilex.
[00:11:27] We saw Tuilexes all over the place, especially on that planet.
[00:11:30] On the rock, they were in the dance club.
[00:11:33] The Glowen Fadik's species.
[00:11:37] The Kanto Blight sequence in The Last Jedi introduced a multitude of new aliens to the modern Star Wars canon,
[00:11:42] with some remaining unnamed.
[00:11:43] Case in point, the unnamed species of the Glowen Fadik, which we saw another one of them.
[00:11:48] Fregotian.
[00:11:49] Another alien species that debuted in the sequel.
[00:11:52] Error are the Fregotians.
[00:11:53] Not only did a pair of Fregotian scientists appear in Maz Kanata's castle in Star Wars, The Force Awakens,
[00:12:02] but members of the species also appeared in The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Andor,
[00:12:06] also seen in Port Bargo when the skeleton crew.
[00:12:09] A Batario, which was in Port Bargo.
[00:12:12] Also all these pirates.
[00:12:15] An unnamed species.
[00:12:17] A Hoogazin species.
[00:12:19] He doesn't have a name.
[00:12:20] Also in the bad place.
[00:12:23] Udarbian.
[00:12:23] There's 12 left.
[00:12:25] Thelen, which is the one that we saw in Galactic Empire.
[00:12:31] The girl, she was really cool.
[00:12:33] She was like the only part that I liked of the prequel series that got canceled after one season.
[00:12:41] She was really cool.
[00:12:43] A Dibrinth species.
[00:12:46] Notably required special pressurized suits to survive in most Type 1 atmospheres.
[00:12:51] A Hasak, which inspired the early concept art for Chewbacca.
[00:12:58] One of the concept art for Chewbacca.
[00:13:00] The Tarzant was the little monkey-like guy.
[00:13:04] He had a big head in with the kids.
[00:13:07] He was a young one.
[00:13:08] A Trandoshian, which we all know one of the most famous ones is Bosque.
[00:13:13] There was another one of those in Port Boga.
[00:13:15] A Shy Dope have few appearances in the Star Wars franchise thus far.
[00:13:20] The Mandalorian Season 2 introduced him as the native species on Morak.
[00:13:23] But they also showed up in the pirate hangout.
[00:13:28] Onodone is, they're very creepy looking, but they were also in the background of that place.
[00:13:35] Teak.
[00:13:36] A teak was the little puppet that escorted them from their ship onto the rock.
[00:13:42] That species are called teaks.
[00:13:45] And Melbu, almost like what a traditional green alien guy looks like.
[00:13:50] Big bug eyes.
[00:13:52] We met them first in Han Solo.
[00:13:56] And then Shadra Fan, which is a little pig-like guy.
[00:14:01] It resembles rodents, maybe.
[00:14:03] But they have a pig nose, but the rest of their body looks kind of very rodent-like.
[00:14:09] Also appears in the background of Port Bogo.
[00:14:11] And then a whole bunch of other unknown characters in the background as well on both places.
[00:14:18] So, 35 different characters.
[00:14:21] So, when you talk about characters, this one has a lot of them.
[00:14:26] Which is pretty cool.
[00:14:27] It's not all just humanoids.
[00:14:28] It's 35 different characters.
[00:14:30] Alright, so let's get down to the breakdowns.
[00:14:32] So, right now, if you didn't watch it yet, go watch it.
[00:14:35] Then come back and listen to me or watch this on YouTube now.
[00:14:38] Because I'm going to break down practically scene by scene what happens in the two episodes.
[00:14:42] Because it was really, really good.
[00:14:44] In the very beginning, there's two new droids in the beginning of all the droid sequences.
[00:14:48] DJ RX, otherwise known as RX-24, from the Disney Ride Star Tours.
[00:14:54] You see his face.
[00:14:56] And a truancy droid.
[00:14:57] You see their face.
[00:14:58] They're the ones with the giant eyeballs.
[00:14:59] And then also SM-33.
[00:15:02] We see those three new droids in the opening droid scroll.
[00:15:06] The opening scene has a new scroll.
[00:15:08] New Republic is protecting the member world.
[00:15:10] But the outer worlds, that's where the pirates are.
[00:15:14] And then just like that, bam, a new battle scene.
[00:15:17] Just like the way Star Wars should start with a nice, awesome battle scene opening up.
[00:15:22] Just like New Hope's opening scene, a bigger ship is attacking a smaller ship.
[00:15:26] The whole opening scene is almost shot for shot as the same thing as the opening scene of A New Hope.
[00:15:35] When Darth Vader takes over where Princess Leia's ship is.
[00:15:39] There are some shots of some fruit, which were Malarons, which was fun because that was from Star Wars Rebels.
[00:15:46] That was a really, really good episode.
[00:15:47] If you didn't watch that episode, it was a lot of fun.
[00:15:50] Hera sent the two of them off to go get Malarons on a planet that Malarons didn't grow on.
[00:15:58] But ironically enough, there was a crate of them that the Imperials were taking.
[00:16:04] And so then they had to steal them from the Imperial guards and all that stuff.
[00:16:07] And it was a lot of fun.
[00:16:08] Check it out.
[00:16:09] I love Star Wars Rebels.
[00:16:11] You should watch it three or four times at least.
[00:16:14] A lot of animal species in the cantina.
[00:16:18] Jaleel White's name is Gunter, which was from Ready Player One.
[00:16:24] Wippet, I don't know.
[00:16:26] He was a pirate from Mandalorian Season 3 in Aqualacia.
[00:16:30] Oh, these are all the people that are on the pirate ship.
[00:16:34] So we talked about the different people on there.
[00:16:37] And a Trans-Ocean, a Grady.
[00:16:38] Normally they have three eyes, but this guy only had two eyes and an eye patch, which was pretty funny.
[00:16:42] A Grande, I should say.
[00:16:44] The leader scene with a scary mask.
[00:16:47] I didn't pick up on it the first time I watched it, but the second time I watched it, I realized that that was in fact Jude Law's character.
[00:16:58] And that we wind up seeing later on in prison.
[00:17:02] And we realized now why he is in prison, because he takes them.
[00:17:09] Man with a scary mask taking over a ship is exactly like Darth Vader coming on in Episode 4 of Star Wars.
[00:17:18] So then they open up the vault, only to find that there's only one credit laying right in the middle of the vault.
[00:17:25] I thought this was going to be a setup.
[00:17:26] I thought for sure somebody was going to come out from somewhere else and take down all the pirates.
[00:17:31] Because it was set up like it would be a setup.
[00:17:34] But to no oblige, no setup.
[00:17:37] The only thing that it set up was it set up Jude Law's character to get anarchy.
[00:17:44] And what's the word I'm looking for when they overtake the pirate ship?
[00:17:49] They overtake the captain.
[00:17:51] But they did that.
[00:17:52] They beat up the captain.
[00:17:53] And then we don't know what happens to him.
[00:17:55] We just assume that he's dead.
[00:17:57] And then the next thing you see is...
[00:17:59] Oh, and the one credit had a new Republic logo on it.
[00:18:02] So it had a new Rebel logo on it, which is foreshadowing for when we see WIMS credits later on.
[00:18:10] And they have Imperial marks on them because they are much older logos.
[00:18:15] Skeleton crew.
[00:18:16] The title Skeleton crew can mean one of two things.
[00:18:18] A small crew that mans a large ship.
[00:18:20] Or pirates that fly the Jolly Roger flag.
[00:18:24] I also think it might even have a third meaning in this version of it where...
[00:18:29] As they get on the ship later on that there are skeletons all over the place.
[00:18:34] So I think maybe somebody says later on that there are skeleton crew because they have all the skeletons.
[00:18:40] And that is that.
[00:18:42] Who knows?
[00:18:42] We'll see what happens.
[00:18:43] So now we're on suburban Star Wars in a nice suburban neighborhood.
[00:18:49] We see WIM playing with his little Jedi Star Wars action figures.
[00:18:53] And he's played by Ravi Kabat Converse.
[00:18:57] And I was looking to see how old these kids were to see how old they were supposed to be in the show.
[00:19:01] Because some of the girls are a little bit taller than the boys.
[00:19:05] And I was like okay you know.
[00:19:06] But also I'm a middle school teacher.
[00:19:08] So I know that girls mature earlier than boys do.
[00:19:12] And girls shoot up before boys do.
[00:19:14] He was born in 2011.
[00:19:17] Fern is played by Ryan Kira Armstrong.
[00:19:21] She was born in 2010.
[00:19:22] So they're roughly the same age.
[00:19:24] They're roughly around 13 years old when this happened.
[00:19:26] Or 10, 11 years old.
[00:19:29] Whatever.
[00:19:29] When they filmed this.
[00:19:30] I'm not really sure when they filmed it.
[00:19:31] But now it's 2024 minus 11.
[00:19:35] Means that they're about 13.
[00:19:36] He's 13 or 14 years old.
[00:19:40] But they seem to be playing younger.
[00:19:42] In my opinion.
[00:19:43] I think they're playing a little bit younger than 13 and 14 year olds.
[00:19:47] I don't know.
[00:19:48] We'll see.
[00:19:49] His room looks a lot like the hotel in the Galactic Star Cruiser.
[00:19:55] With a lot of recessed wall things and bookshelves and beds and things like that.
[00:20:01] So hopefully they reopen it.
[00:20:03] And you could be staying in Wim's room.
[00:20:05] Which would be pretty cool.
[00:20:07] He's drinking a green drink.
[00:20:09] I wonder if they have the same species that Luke had.
[00:20:13] Luke was getting this green milk from.
[00:20:15] On the planet he was staying at in the later episodes.
[00:20:19] Or if just all the animals in Star Wars.
[00:20:24] Their milk is not white.
[00:20:25] But it's always multicolored.
[00:20:27] Blues, greens.
[00:20:28] It would be funny to see like an orange one.
[00:20:30] Or a red milk also.
[00:20:31] Or something like that.
[00:20:32] I must have seen.
[00:20:35] Nels is a Bertholdi.
[00:20:36] The same species as Max.
[00:20:37] We meet Neil next.
[00:20:39] He's the same species as Max Rebo.
[00:20:41] When they pretend to be Jedi while waiting for the bus.
[00:20:43] They actually act out almost scene by scene.
[00:20:47] Almost lightsaber blow.
[00:20:49] Or lightsaber blow.
[00:20:50] The same as Darth Vader taking out Obi-Wan Kenobi in A New Hope.
[00:20:53] Then on the bus we see DJR Rex.
[00:20:57] As the bus driver.
[00:20:58] Which is pretty funny.
[00:21:01] Because in the original installment of Star Tours.
[00:21:04] He was the Star Tour driver.
[00:21:07] Before in the sequel rounds.
[00:21:10] They when they redid it.
[00:21:12] They now make C-3PO the driver.
[00:21:14] But he was the original driver.
[00:21:16] And now if you go to Olga's cantina in Star Wars land.
[00:21:23] On either the LA side or the Orlando side.
[00:21:26] He's out there spinning records now.
[00:21:28] So they reused his DJ.
[00:21:30] His body to be a DJ.
[00:21:32] DJRX now.
[00:21:33] Instead of RX33.
[00:21:34] Which are RX whatever number he was before.
[00:21:38] RX24.
[00:21:40] Now he's DJRX.
[00:21:41] So you can get him in either place.
[00:21:44] I liked Wim's iPad.
[00:21:47] Which shows 3D comic books.
[00:21:50] They did a really good job of showing the depth.
[00:21:53] Of the 3D on these slides.
[00:21:55] But they were still just like slides.
[00:21:56] It was almost like a viewfinder.
[00:21:59] From back in the day.
[00:22:00] When in the 80's.
[00:22:02] Kids in America.
[00:22:03] Or kids on earth.
[00:22:04] Had these little things.
[00:22:05] The viewfinders.
[00:22:06] Which you put in a disc.
[00:22:07] And it was two slides at the same time.
[00:22:10] But because they were a little off.
[00:22:11] It made it look three dimensional.
[00:22:12] And he was using the same.
[00:22:15] Button to slide through.
[00:22:18] That you would with a viewfinder.
[00:22:22] Oh and then the bus driver was gross.
[00:22:24] The kids were putting gum on the back of his head.
[00:22:27] Whatever.
[00:22:29] Oh and the comic books were very similar.
[00:22:31] To what was happening in the beginning of this series.
[00:22:34] But not exactly the same.
[00:22:36] As a teacher.
[00:22:38] I find the classroom scenes.
[00:22:40] Very amusing.
[00:22:41] The teacher was so boring.
[00:22:43] As a droid.
[00:22:44] And not one kid these days.
[00:22:46] Would be able to.
[00:22:48] Pay attention.
[00:22:49] To her monotone.
[00:22:52] It was almost like Charlie Brown's.
[00:22:54] Teacher.
[00:22:55] But you could actually understand the words.
[00:22:57] But it was so boring.
[00:22:58] I was like oh my god.
[00:22:59] I can't believe these kids are sitting.
[00:23:01] So still.
[00:23:02] Like they would be.
[00:23:02] Out of control.
[00:23:04] If we taught like that.
[00:23:05] To kids.
[00:23:06] Kids.
[00:23:07] Kids.
[00:23:07] These days.
[00:23:08] If we talk like that.
[00:23:09] To the children.
[00:23:10] They would not be paying attention.
[00:23:11] The way these kids were just sitting there.
[00:23:13] Paying attention.
[00:23:14] All except for Wim.
[00:23:15] Who was drawing.
[00:23:16] On his etch-a-sketch.
[00:23:18] Built into his desk.
[00:23:19] Which was pretty cool.
[00:23:32] Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch.
[00:23:34] Kind of reminds me of the movie Divergent.
[00:23:37] Where he.
[00:23:38] The one person finds out that he is a divergent.
[00:23:40] I wonder if Wim.
[00:23:41] If he actually took the test.
[00:23:42] If he found out that he was a Jedi somehow.
[00:23:45] Because.
[00:23:46] Speaking of that.
[00:23:47] On.
[00:23:49] Wikipedia.
[00:23:50] Originally.
[00:23:51] It said that he was a youngling.
[00:23:53] Now.
[00:23:54] I know Wikipedia is put in by people.
[00:23:56] And I'm sure somebody put that in there.
[00:23:58] It hasn't been proven yet.
[00:24:00] In the first two episodes.
[00:24:01] That he is a youngling.
[00:24:02] But it will be interesting to see.
[00:24:04] If they are correct with that.
[00:24:06] By the end of the series.
[00:24:07] By the end of the eight episodes.
[00:24:08] If he is.
[00:24:09] If he does turn out to be a youngling.
[00:24:11] Or if he's just a.
[00:24:12] ADD kid.
[00:24:13] Who just can't stay focused on one thing.
[00:24:16] Without touching everything.
[00:24:18] In this classroom scene also.
[00:24:20] I've discovered that the PBA.
[00:24:21] All over America.
[00:24:22] Are in an uproar right now.
[00:24:24] Because.
[00:24:26] The.
[00:24:27] Droid says that.
[00:24:29] Or Will says that he wants.
[00:24:30] Wim says that he wants to be.
[00:24:31] A protector.
[00:24:33] Of people.
[00:24:34] And.
[00:24:35] The teacher says that's no job.
[00:24:37] That's what safety droids are for.
[00:24:39] And.
[00:24:39] Police all over America.
[00:24:41] Are very upset that they're being.
[00:24:42] Told that their job is not a job.
[00:24:44] It's just what a droid can do.
[00:24:47] But you know what.
[00:24:48] You know what I think.
[00:24:48] About that right now.
[00:24:51] The teacher was also a droid.
[00:24:53] So I guess my job is not important either.
[00:24:57] Alright.
[00:24:58] Forget about that.
[00:24:58] I'm no longer a fan of Star Wars.
[00:25:02] Alright.
[00:25:08] Oh he's.
[00:25:08] Wim's all over the place.
[00:25:10] Don't know what his biggest test of.
[00:25:11] Doesn't know that his biggest test of his life is coming up.
[00:25:13] And at the same time we find out that his dad.
[00:25:16] Is not paying any attention to him either.
[00:25:18] His mom's not there.
[00:25:19] Presumably dead.
[00:25:20] And his dad is too busy.
[00:25:22] Perfect Disney.
[00:25:23] Every Disney story.
[00:25:24] The mom dies.
[00:25:25] In the beginning.
[00:25:26] So same thing.
[00:25:27] Mom is dead.
[00:25:28] Dead.
[00:25:28] So it has to fit into every single Disney story that way.
[00:25:32] So there we go.
[00:25:32] And then the dad is always too busy to help out with anything.
[00:25:36] He's so busy at work that he can't do anything.
[00:25:39] Even at the very.
[00:25:40] In the one scene when he's going to bed.
[00:25:42] Wim asks for a bedtime story.
[00:25:44] And the dad's like.
[00:25:45] Come on.
[00:25:45] You're too old for bedtime stories.
[00:25:47] Go to bed kid.
[00:25:47] Then we get a scene of Fern racing her speeder bike.
[00:25:52] Which is 10,000 times better than the speeder bike scenes that we had in Book of Boba Fett.
[00:25:59] Worst sequence in the history of Star Wars.
[00:26:03] And I'm including the whole holiday special.
[00:26:08] That scene is on par with the worst things that they did in the holiday special.
[00:26:13] I highly recommend erasing that from your memory ever.
[00:26:19] This scene so much better.
[00:26:22] So much faster.
[00:26:23] Everything was cool.
[00:26:25] The drag racing talking about it.
[00:26:27] Her racing through town.
[00:26:29] It breaks the speeder bikes.
[00:26:31] It was so much better than before.
[00:26:33] This also is a little bit of an homage to George Lucas.
[00:26:35] Because as a kid he was a big drag racer.
[00:26:38] His first movie was about drag racing.
[00:26:40] Kind of about drag racing.
[00:26:41] Or had drag racing in it.
[00:26:42] And then at the very end when her bike breaks down.
[00:26:45] She needs a power converter.
[00:26:47] Just like Luke Skywalker.
[00:26:48] When he wanted to go to Tosche Station and get some power converters.
[00:26:52] Alright.
[00:26:53] Wim's neighborhood is very fun.
[00:26:55] Kind of looks like a neighborhood from E.T.
[00:26:56] If you look at it from the first time you see it.
[00:26:58] It looks almost like E.T.'s neighborhood.
[00:27:01] A nice homage to 80's TVs.
[00:27:05] 80's movies.
[00:27:06] And then the entrance.
[00:27:07] Looks like the entrance to Back to the Future.
[00:27:09] So boom.
[00:27:10] One neighborhood.
[00:27:11] Looks like two different 80's movies.
[00:27:13] All over it.
[00:27:13] 80's styling.
[00:27:14] Everywhere you want.
[00:27:15] The kid's bike is even 80's style.
[00:27:17] With a little basket on the back.
[00:27:19] The tinsel hanging from his handlebars.
[00:27:22] I remember so many kids that had the streamers hanging from their handlebars.
[00:27:27] I always wanted.
[00:27:28] I had a paper route when I was a kid.
[00:27:31] Kids these days don't even have paper routes.
[00:27:33] They have old guys now who throw around papers from their car.
[00:27:36] But I had a paper route.
[00:27:37] So I had a milk crate zip tied to my handlebars.
[00:27:40] So I could put all the newspapers in there.
[00:27:42] So yeah.
[00:27:43] This is very 80's.
[00:27:45] 80's-esque.
[00:27:46] And I also enjoyed the droid lawnmower that he runs past.
[00:27:49] It was very funny.
[00:27:50] Because it was a typical lawnmower that we have today.
[00:27:54] But walking it were just robot legs.
[00:27:57] So it was fun that they did robot legs onto the lawnmower.
[00:28:01] As opposed to a robot lawnmower that we have today.
[00:28:06] It was a lot of fun that way.
[00:28:08] All the cars must be powered from down below on that little metal strip.
[00:28:12] But somehow her speeder bike.
[00:28:14] Maybe the bicycles have their own power of some sort.
[00:28:17] Or maybe she doesn't need to.
[00:28:19] It has like a little battery in it to get some power.
[00:28:22] Because she was weaving in and out all over the roads.
[00:28:26] And when he takes his bike off-road at one point in time.
[00:28:30] Oh maybe that's what he.
[00:28:32] Because when he was very excited that she went off the road.
[00:28:35] And up over the railing in the very beginning.
[00:28:38] He was like did you see that?
[00:28:40] So I wonder if he was impressed that her bike could travel without being electrified.
[00:28:46] Or if he was just impressed that she was able to jump over the barrier with her bike.
[00:28:50] I'm not sure.
[00:28:51] We have to ask him.
[00:28:52] And then the next day he misses his bus.
[00:28:57] So of course you can't have an 80's movie without somebody missing a school bus.
[00:29:02] So then he takes his speeder bike and takes a shortcut into the woods.
[00:29:06] Which is just like Flight of the Navigator.
[00:29:09] But the kid in Flight of the Navigator gets sucked up into space.
[00:29:13] Which pretty much is what happens in this.
[00:29:15] In a little bit they get sucked up into space.
[00:29:17] But as he's going through the shortcut.
[00:29:20] His speeder bike scene is very similar to that in Return of the Jedi.
[00:29:23] When Luke is doing a spider.
[00:29:27] When Luke is doing the chase of the stormtroopers.
[00:29:36] The spaceship hatch looks a lot like what he reads in his comic books.
[00:29:40] So that's why he thinks it's a Jedi temple and not a spaceship buried.
[00:29:44] And then he gets caught by one of the droids.
[00:29:46] And this was a fun little back and forth.
[00:29:49] The droid was like you're truant.
[00:29:50] Let's go.
[00:29:51] And he's like okay.
[00:29:52] And he's like how?
[00:29:53] How do I get out of this ravine that I'm stuck in?
[00:29:57] Somehow he got out.
[00:29:58] Twice in this episode they used the word wizard.
[00:30:02] He told Fern that her bike was totally wizard.
[00:30:06] Later on when they're outside the principal's office.
[00:30:09] And then in episode two he says this is so wizard when they're playing with all the pirate hats.
[00:30:13] Which was also a line from Anakin's friends when he did the pod racer.
[00:30:19] His friend told Annie that this is so wizard Annie.
[00:30:22] So they're using the terminology from the very first episode long long ago.
[00:30:29] Giving yet another clue that this planet is basically locked off from the galaxy around them.
[00:30:35] And they're stuck in their time frame of pre-clone wars.
[00:30:42] Which I was like oh my gosh how can they do that?
[00:30:45] But then I'm thinking like Earth.
[00:30:46] We can't leave Earth.
[00:30:48] So these people can't leave that.
[00:30:50] So it's the same thing as what we have.
[00:30:55] Oh the little siblings.
[00:30:57] This is fun.
[00:30:58] His little brothers or little siblings.
[00:31:01] They're not sure if they're boys or girls.
[00:31:02] They were watching a holograph TV show.
[00:31:04] Which was taken directly from the Star Wars Christmas special in 1978.
[00:31:09] The same thing Lumpy was watching in 1978.
[00:31:13] And it was actually the same exact scene.
[00:31:17] So that was Cirque du Soleil doing that in 1978.
[00:31:21] They got that footage and did the same exact thing.
[00:31:24] And now instead of in the 1978 special.
[00:31:27] They zoom in on it.
[00:31:29] And then you see the live action people from Cirque du Soleil.
[00:31:34] But in this they're watching it as a true hologram.
[00:31:38] Which is pretty cool that they brought that back.
[00:31:41] Once again bringing the Christmas special into canon for some unknown reason.
[00:31:48] Bad bad idea.
[00:31:49] The only good thing that came out of that was Boba Fett's cartoon.
[00:31:54] Which is the first time I meet Boba Fett.
[00:31:56] Then the two of them.
[00:31:57] He gets his buddy to come with him.
[00:31:59] They go to the Jedi Temple.
[00:32:00] And when they get there he's discovered that somebody's already been there.
[00:32:04] And it's the other two girls.
[00:32:05] KD plays a fun trick on them.
[00:32:08] With her fancy headgear.
[00:32:09] Her fancy Geordi LaForge glasses.
[00:32:12] That are tapped in.
[00:32:13] She already has some.
[00:32:16] Some android things built into her body.
[00:32:19] Replacing her ears.
[00:32:21] Which is pretty interesting that they're allowing children to do this.
[00:32:24] But whatever.
[00:32:25] So she's able to change her voice with that to sound just like the guards.
[00:32:31] There's a whole protocol list.
[00:32:33] Oh I love this.
[00:32:34] She changed her voice.
[00:32:36] And then she calls that she unclaimed.
[00:32:38] She said she claimed that ship.
[00:32:41] And he said you can't do that.
[00:32:42] I already claimed it.
[00:32:42] And she said I unclaimed it.
[00:32:44] And he said you can't unclaim it without me being there.
[00:32:46] So then she says again unclaimed.
[00:32:48] And then KD immediately says claimed.
[00:32:51] Before he could claim it for himself.
[00:32:53] And I love that there's a whole protocol.
[00:32:55] What you can do to claim things on this planet as a kid.
[00:32:59] We did the same exact thing.
[00:33:02] No take backs.
[00:33:04] Frozen seat.
[00:33:05] My seat is frozen.
[00:33:07] Of course the number one one.
[00:33:10] Which was of course shotgun.
[00:33:11] You know so you can get the front seat of the car.
[00:33:14] And then you know there's always the rules.
[00:33:16] You can't call shotgun unless you can see the car.
[00:33:18] Once I called you have to give it to me.
[00:33:20] Blah blah blah.
[00:33:20] So it's very similar to that.
[00:33:23] Then they have a conversation.
[00:33:26] Tricking the boys into digging out the rest.
[00:33:28] Because they tell the boys oh you're so strong.
[00:33:32] And he says oh yeah.
[00:33:34] He goes I'm going to trick her.
[00:33:35] Because once we get inside.
[00:33:37] I'm going to claim the inside.
[00:33:38] She only claimed the outside.
[00:33:40] And then the girls say oh these boys are so dumb.
[00:33:43] They never get to the point.
[00:33:44] Because they wind up getting stuck in there.
[00:33:46] It opened the doors open up.
[00:33:48] And then similar to the Goonies.
[00:33:50] They get stuck inside.
[00:33:51] Just like they did when they went down underneath the fireplace.
[00:33:54] They got stuck in there.
[00:33:55] And then of course Wim has to touch everything that he sees.
[00:34:01] This is where he's like so he needs medication.
[00:34:04] Because he needs something to tell him to think before he does things.
[00:34:09] Hmm.
[00:34:10] That droid looks like it died trying to flip that lever.
[00:34:13] So maybe I shouldn't flip that lever.
[00:34:16] Because maybe something bad will happen.
[00:34:18] Oh let me touch the lever.
[00:34:19] Oh look at this glowing green light.
[00:34:21] Let me push this button.
[00:34:22] So he needs a little self control.
[00:34:25] But because of that he plays with some things.
[00:34:30] Boom.
[00:34:30] The engines start up.
[00:34:31] And then it starts to take off.
[00:34:33] And as it's taking off they're all on the outside.
[00:34:36] Then they get back inside.
[00:34:38] Wim sees his dad.
[00:34:39] Dad I'm up here.
[00:34:40] So now his dad knows where he is.
[00:34:42] He knows he's flying away.
[00:34:44] And then they leave outside the barrier.
[00:34:48] I think they called it.
[00:34:49] And as soon as they get outside the barrier.
[00:34:51] It takes off and goes into hyperspace.
[00:34:53] Now the kids think that Wim did something to get him into hyperspace.
[00:34:58] I'm not really sure he had anything to do with that.
[00:35:01] And that also goes into episode two.
[00:35:03] So that is where we end episode one.
[00:35:08] And with that we're going to take a quick commercial break.
[00:35:11] Because I need a rest.
[00:35:14] I need to rest my throat.
[00:35:22] All right.
[00:35:24] And we're back with episode two.
[00:35:26] Episode two starts right where episode one ended.
[00:35:28] They're in the middle of a snowstorm with high beams on.
[00:35:33] Nope.
[00:35:33] They're in hyperspace flying to who knows where.
[00:35:35] They're all sitting at the chair screaming.
[00:35:38] And then they say well you got to stop it.
[00:35:41] And of course Wim's like oh I'll stop it.
[00:35:43] He starts banging on things.
[00:35:45] Whether or not him banging on it actually stopped it.
[00:35:48] I'm not sure.
[00:35:50] Because I don't even think he hit a button.
[00:35:52] I think he was just hitting the console.
[00:35:54] When it came out of hyperspace.
[00:35:56] So me personally.
[00:35:57] I think it was designed.
[00:35:59] If the ship ever turned back on again.
[00:36:01] To take off.
[00:36:02] Leave the planet as fast as you can.
[00:36:04] Go into hyperspace and then go to this set coordinate.
[00:36:08] We'll see what happens.
[00:36:09] But then as that happens.
[00:36:11] Once the ship stops.
[00:36:12] You see something coming from behind them.
[00:36:14] Very sporadic walking.
[00:36:17] Very scary.
[00:36:18] Red lights around them.
[00:36:19] Looks even scarier.
[00:36:20] Oh my gosh is it Darth Vader?
[00:36:22] Nope.
[00:36:22] It's just the droid SM-33.
[00:36:26] Which if you were a big Peter Pan fan.
[00:36:29] And wanted to make a license plate.
[00:36:31] To show how big of a fan you were of Captain Hook.
[00:36:33] And all of his people.
[00:36:35] You would make a license plate that said SM-33.
[00:36:38] Because Captain Hook's assistant.
[00:36:40] Whatever he was.
[00:36:41] His name was Smee.
[00:36:43] S-M-E-E.
[00:36:45] Which this looks very similar to that.
[00:36:47] So which is very apropos.
[00:36:50] Considering he's talking about a captain.
[00:36:52] And they're pirates.
[00:36:53] And who's the greatest pirate of all time.
[00:36:56] Of course Captain Hook.
[00:36:57] So why not have Captain Hook's assistant.
[00:37:01] Be the name of the droid in this.
[00:37:04] So there we go.
[00:37:07] He's voiced by Nick Frost.
[00:37:08] Who if you do the research.
[00:37:10] He was in a UK show.
[00:37:11] Where they talked about Star Wars.
[00:37:13] So all this comes back around.
[00:37:14] He was in a bunch of other things already.
[00:37:17] So check him out.
[00:37:18] He's a good actor.
[00:37:19] He does a very good pirate accent.
[00:37:21] And he's a lot of fun there.
[00:37:22] One thing I enjoyed about this.
[00:37:25] Is it's clearly stop motion.
[00:37:28] And I love stop motion animation.
[00:37:30] I teach my kids how to do it.
[00:37:32] You can tell the herky jerkiness of it.
[00:37:33] And even when he was fighting.
[00:37:35] In the next couple of scenes.
[00:37:36] You can tell it's a little stop motion-esque.
[00:37:39] Not very smooth.
[00:37:41] And I love the fact that they're not just doing everything CGI.
[00:37:43] This is stop motion.
[00:37:45] Later on the little.
[00:37:47] Knee.
[00:37:48] I forget what his name is.
[00:37:51] The little guy who was the pilot.
[00:37:55] His name.
[00:37:56] I'll find it.
[00:37:56] There it is.
[00:37:57] Teak.
[00:37:57] Little Teak.
[00:37:58] Looked like a puppet as well.
[00:38:00] So very cool stuff there.
[00:38:03] No CGI.
[00:38:04] But puppets and stop motion animation.
[00:38:06] Going back to the Mandalorian.
[00:38:09] I'm pretty sure.
[00:38:12] The droid.
[00:38:15] That was the bounty hunter droid.
[00:38:17] Also stop motion animation.
[00:38:20] All right.
[00:38:21] After the girls trick.
[00:38:23] Oh.
[00:38:24] After that.
[00:38:24] The girls trick SM33.
[00:38:28] Into.
[00:38:30] Trick him.
[00:38:31] She tricks him into.
[00:38:33] Thinking that she is the new captain.
[00:38:35] Because he says every ship needs a captain.
[00:38:37] So Fern is like.
[00:38:39] Well I'm your captain.
[00:38:40] I killed your captain.
[00:38:41] He's like.
[00:38:42] I don't believe that.
[00:38:43] And she's like.
[00:38:44] Do you see your captain?
[00:38:45] I killed him.
[00:38:46] Therefore I am the captain.
[00:38:47] And he goes.
[00:38:48] Oh okay.
[00:38:49] And then Wim of course.
[00:38:50] Being the immature ADD kid.
[00:38:52] Is like.
[00:38:53] No I want to be the captain.
[00:38:54] And SME is like.
[00:38:55] Fine.
[00:38:56] You can challenge her to challenge.
[00:38:57] A duel of death.
[00:38:58] And he was like.
[00:38:59] Ah never mind.
[00:38:59] Fine.
[00:39:00] Um.
[00:39:01] And I do appreciate.
[00:39:02] Right now.
[00:39:03] Fern is very.
[00:39:05] Protective.
[00:39:06] Of her friend KD.
[00:39:07] There's multiple instances.
[00:39:09] In the first two episodes.
[00:39:10] Where she's like.
[00:39:11] Oh no.
[00:39:12] Me and KD.
[00:39:13] We need to do this.
[00:39:13] And she doesn't really care about the boys yet.
[00:39:15] She's not very protective of the boys yet.
[00:39:17] I'm sure there's a lot of foreshadowing into it.
[00:39:19] Where the boys are going to eventually save the day.
[00:39:21] Or for the girls.
[00:39:22] Or they're all going to be best friends.
[00:39:23] And they're all going to be working.
[00:39:24] Working together.
[00:39:25] And then without even thinking about it.
[00:39:27] She's going to say.
[00:39:28] All four of us need to go.
[00:39:29] Or something like that.
[00:39:30] Then we're back on At Atom.
[00:39:32] The planet.
[00:39:33] It's very similar to E.T.
[00:39:35] Where they're hunting for E.T.
[00:39:36] In this case.
[00:39:38] They're hunting for E.T.
[00:39:39] After he lands.
[00:39:40] And in this movie.
[00:39:41] They're trying to figure out what the noise was.
[00:39:43] And the commotion of the ship leaving.
[00:39:45] As opposed to E.T.
[00:39:46] It was the ship landing.
[00:39:48] And during that.
[00:39:49] They find his dad.
[00:39:51] And the dad's all whining.
[00:39:52] My son.
[00:39:52] He took my son.
[00:39:53] He disappeared.
[00:39:53] And the droids are like.
[00:39:55] That can't happen.
[00:39:56] No ship can go through it.
[00:39:57] He's like.
[00:39:57] I saw it.
[00:39:58] Meh, meh, meh.
[00:39:58] I'm not a big fan of the dad.
[00:40:00] And I know you're not supposed to be.
[00:40:02] I know you're supposed to be like.
[00:40:02] Oh.
[00:40:03] If you're just a little bit more attentive.
[00:40:05] Then your kid would be a little bit more.
[00:40:07] Mature.
[00:40:08] And better.
[00:40:09] And they want to be in this situation.
[00:40:11] So.
[00:40:12] Back on the ship.
[00:40:13] Wim's running around.
[00:40:14] Having a great time.
[00:40:15] This is so much fun for him.
[00:40:17] He's loving it.
[00:40:18] He's on an adventure.
[00:40:19] He finally got off of this boring planet.
[00:40:21] That he hates so much.
[00:40:22] He got to be real pirates.
[00:40:24] He goes.
[00:40:25] Runs past two skeletons.
[00:40:27] That killed each other.
[00:40:28] He said.
[00:40:28] Look.
[00:40:28] Looks like they've had a fight to the death.
[00:40:31] And then he goes into the.
[00:40:32] Into the captain's bedroom.
[00:40:36] I like the effect of him jumping on the bed.
[00:40:38] And all the dust coming up.
[00:40:40] Showing that it's been there for a very long time.
[00:40:42] Been underground for a very, very long time.
[00:40:43] He's playing with pirate hats.
[00:40:46] Just like they did in Goonies.
[00:40:48] He was playing with pirate hats.
[00:40:50] And he was playing with the.
[00:40:54] Not monocular.
[00:40:55] Just the one.
[00:40:57] Lens.
[00:40:58] Instead of binoculars.
[00:40:59] They also find.
[00:41:02] Just like when they find a pirate ship.
[00:41:04] They find one eye willy.
[00:41:05] It's very reminiscent of the Goonies.
[00:41:07] Which is very funny.
[00:41:07] Because all the fans were billing it.
[00:41:09] As Goonies in space.
[00:41:10] And in that case.
[00:41:12] They actually take so much of the references.
[00:41:14] From the Goonies.
[00:41:15] Which makes it even better.
[00:41:17] This is the second time they use the word wizard.
[00:41:19] When.
[00:41:23] Neil.
[00:41:24] Says.
[00:41:25] Or he says to Neil.
[00:41:26] This is so wizard.
[00:41:27] All the pirate hats.
[00:41:28] They both have pirate hats on.
[00:41:30] And then.
[00:41:30] They reluctantly agree.
[00:41:32] To take the ship.
[00:41:33] To the star port.
[00:41:35] The girls agree.
[00:41:36] To take the ship.
[00:41:36] To the star port.
[00:41:37] Because they need to get it fixed.
[00:41:38] So they can get it back.
[00:41:39] Back to their planet.
[00:41:41] And it was interesting.
[00:41:42] When they said get it back to our planet.
[00:41:43] And they said add Adam.
[00:41:45] He didn't recognize that.
[00:41:47] But he did recognize a bunch of other things.
[00:41:49] Including the planet from Andor.
[00:41:51] Which is really good.
[00:41:52] And planets that were also mentioned.
[00:41:54] In Star Wars Rebels.
[00:41:56] So.
[00:41:56] A lot of throwbacks.
[00:41:57] All the other planets were mentioned.
[00:41:59] In other things.
[00:41:59] So which is pretty cool.
[00:42:02] When they start getting to the base.
[00:42:04] To the pirate hideout.
[00:42:07] It's a rock.
[00:42:08] It's a asteroid.
[00:42:10] But it looked very much like Guardians of the Galaxy.
[00:42:12] To me.
[00:42:12] When they landed on Nowhere.
[00:42:13] Which was a giant skeleton head.
[00:42:15] All the ships were docked far away.
[00:42:17] Which protected the people on the rock.
[00:42:21] From a giant ship just coming and attacking.
[00:42:23] And all the people coming off right away.
[00:42:25] They had to be rowboated on.
[00:42:29] Basically onto the rock.
[00:42:30] And then on the rock.
[00:42:32] You saw all of the other.
[00:42:37] Bad filth.
[00:42:38] And villainy.
[00:42:40] That is in Star Wars.
[00:42:42] All in the same place.
[00:42:44] Everybody was stealing from everybody else.
[00:42:45] There was dancing bars.
[00:42:47] There was this.
[00:42:48] There was that.
[00:42:49] Hundreds of ships docked out.
[00:42:51] One of which being the pirate ship.
[00:42:52] That we saw in the beginning.
[00:42:54] Another was a ship that we saw in Star Wars Rebels.
[00:42:56] That was at the time being driven by Hondo.
[00:42:58] So that would be really cool.
[00:42:59] If we do see Hondo and Aku.
[00:43:01] Showing up.
[00:43:02] Because he's a cool pirate.
[00:43:03] I would like to see him in live action.
[00:43:06] That would be a lot of fun.
[00:43:07] It would be cool.
[00:43:09] If we could see Hondo.
[00:43:11] The ship.
[00:43:12] The Kwan.
[00:43:12] From Smuggler's Run.
[00:43:13] In one of the docks.
[00:43:14] At the asteroid.
[00:43:15] It also looks like there's a.
[00:43:17] A Caloronian gunship.
[00:43:19] In the back.
[00:43:20] Which is a reference to the original designs.
[00:43:23] Of the original Millennium Falcon.
[00:43:24] One of the designs of the Millennium Falcon.
[00:43:26] They had the same round cockpit area.
[00:43:29] But instead of being a round ship.
[00:43:31] It was a longer ship.
[00:43:32] So that's another homage there to that.
[00:43:36] The same captain's capsule.
[00:43:38] As in the one Falcon.
[00:43:39] But the ship is longer.
[00:43:40] Blah blah blah.
[00:43:41] This is the first time you see a close up of Wim's money.
[00:43:44] And you can see old Imperial symbols on it.
[00:43:47] As opposed to the new ones with the Republic symbol.
[00:43:49] That was in the vault.
[00:43:50] When the pirates took over the last ship.
[00:43:52] Another clue to the fact.
[00:43:53] That their planet is not connected to anything else.
[00:43:55] And completely secluded.
[00:43:57] For many many years.
[00:44:00] We see a lot of really cool things in the spaceport.
[00:44:02] One of which is above the sign.
[00:44:04] Of the Neon building.
[00:44:05] It says dance hall.
[00:44:06] And clearly looks like some seductive dancers outside.
[00:44:09] Trying to lure people in.
[00:44:11] To which one then appears to help the children.
[00:44:13] But her species.
[00:44:14] The Zygarians.
[00:44:15] Has also been known throughout the galaxy.
[00:44:17] To abduct children into slave trade.
[00:44:19] And things like that.
[00:44:25] The boys.
[00:44:25] They would be like.
[00:44:26] Okay.
[00:44:26] I'll go with you.
[00:44:27] Because they're pretty much more gullible than the girls are.
[00:44:30] Lots of other Easter eggs and cool things going on in the background.
[00:44:33] One of which is an homage to Captain Eo.
[00:44:36] The little pink flying.
[00:44:39] Whatever they were.
[00:44:40] Animals.
[00:44:40] Is the same thing that was in the Disney World.
[00:44:43] World.
[00:44:44] Ride slash show.
[00:44:46] Starring Michael Jackson in the 80s.
[00:44:48] Called Captain Eo.
[00:44:49] That pink bird creature was with him on.
[00:44:53] In the ride.
[00:44:54] And now they had one in the cage.
[00:44:56] And when the cages broke free.
[00:44:59] He flew across the screen.
[00:45:01] Almost if you had.
[00:45:02] If it was done in 3D.
[00:45:03] Very similar to the way.
[00:45:04] They flew around in the Captain Eo ride.
[00:45:07] So that's another.
[00:45:10] Callback to something else.
[00:45:11] This is the point that we find out that.
[00:45:13] At Adon where they live.
[00:45:14] Is a mystery.
[00:45:15] And secluded planet.
[00:45:16] That has not changed.
[00:45:18] Since way before the Clone Wars.
[00:45:19] When the kids buy some food.
[00:45:21] Which is gross by the way.
[00:45:22] They turn over some old Imperial credits.
[00:45:24] Which everyone on the planet.
[00:45:25] Is very excited about.
[00:45:27] So much so that they all start chasing the kids.
[00:45:29] To steal the rest of their money.
[00:45:31] The planet supposedly also has.
[00:45:35] Gems and riches.
[00:45:36] In the middle of the planet.
[00:45:38] But the kids don't know about this.
[00:45:40] They don't know that the planet that they're on.
[00:45:42] Is actually the big score.
[00:45:44] And the most impressive thing.
[00:45:47] That everybody else wishes they knew about.
[00:45:49] It's like finding the city of Atlantis.
[00:45:51] Is their planet.
[00:45:53] That's when we see Thang.
[00:45:54] Which is a pirate from Mandalorian season 3.
[00:45:56] He's here.
[00:45:57] He wants their money.
[00:45:58] And he has competition with a couple of other pirates.
[00:46:00] Who are all claiming that they saw the kids first.
[00:46:01] And they want the money.
[00:46:02] And that's when.
[00:46:03] That's when.
[00:46:06] Fern shoots the gun into the air.
[00:46:09] Which makes everybody stop for like one second.
[00:46:12] And then they all laugh.
[00:46:14] And knock the gun out of her hand.
[00:46:16] And then they start running again.
[00:46:17] And when they're running.
[00:46:19] This is a little cheesy.
[00:46:21] Crazy.
[00:46:22] Because they're running slowly.
[00:46:24] Because they're obviously filming all of this in the void.
[00:46:27] Which is only so big.
[00:46:28] So if they were to run full speed.
[00:46:31] It would be a half a second.
[00:46:33] Because the void is not big enough for people to run that big.
[00:46:35] So they had to run slower.
[00:46:37] Which for a second I was like.
[00:46:39] These kids run so slow.
[00:46:41] But then I realized it's because they're in the void.
[00:46:43] They did a good job of trying to make it look bigger.
[00:46:46] By changing camera angles and stuff like that.
[00:46:49] But you could definitely tell.
[00:46:50] It would have been a lot better if they did this.
[00:46:52] In a real set.
[00:46:56] With a lot more space than they had in the void.
[00:46:59] We learned old pirate movies.
[00:47:01] If you have one barrel.
[00:47:02] A two barrel gun is better.
[00:47:04] And then this one pirate had a three barrel gun.
[00:47:07] So I was like oh.
[00:47:08] That's fun for Star Wars.
[00:47:10] But in real life.
[00:47:11] Three barrel pistols.
[00:47:13] Date all the way back to 1775.
[00:47:16] There's revolvers.
[00:47:18] A three barrel flintlock pistol from France.
[00:47:21] In the 18th century.
[00:47:22] You can Google it.
[00:47:22] You can look it up.
[00:47:23] You can see all these really cool old three barrel pistols.
[00:47:26] So if you in 1700s.
[00:47:29] Since you couldn't have multiple bullets at one time.
[00:47:32] You had to put one little flintlock thing in one at a time.
[00:47:36] You had three shots at once.
[00:47:38] Which is very impressive.
[00:47:39] Or you could do three shots in a row.
[00:47:40] Without having to reload.
[00:47:42] So that's been around for hundreds of years.
[00:47:43] It's been around for a long long time.
[00:47:45] In a galaxy far far away.
[00:47:49] Then just when you think the end is near for the kids.
[00:47:51] Out of nowhere comes SM33 to protect his captain.
[00:47:54] Which is awesome stop motion animation.
[00:47:56] I like how not only did he punch his arm.
[00:47:59] But then his arm had a hydraulic extra punch in it.
[00:48:02] To really make sure he punched those people really high.
[00:48:05] They were going all over the place.
[00:48:07] It was a lot of fun.
[00:48:07] And then as they're running through.
[00:48:10] They're knocking into things.
[00:48:11] There was a model 88 model droid.
[00:48:15] That was doing tattoos.
[00:48:16] And then they messed up the tattoo.
[00:48:18] It would have been great if you could have seen it.
[00:48:20] And it would have been in.
[00:48:22] If it said moth.
[00:48:24] From the Simpsons.
[00:48:25] When Bart got a tattoo in the very first episode.
[00:48:27] Very first season I should say.
[00:48:29] He was trying to get a tattoo that said mother.
[00:48:32] And Marge came in and ripped him out.
[00:48:34] And instead of saying mother.
[00:48:35] It said moth.
[00:48:36] Which was actually worse.
[00:48:39] So that would have been really funny.
[00:48:40] If it actually said moth.
[00:48:42] And the droid was like.
[00:48:43] Oh no I ruined it.
[00:48:44] I mean it looks awesome.
[00:48:46] Then Thang.
[00:48:47] Then Brutus.
[00:48:48] Which is the wolf man.
[00:48:49] Comes from the other side.
[00:48:51] And throws an ion blaster onto SM-33.
[00:48:53] To disable him.
[00:48:54] And then they capture the kids.
[00:48:56] And lock them up in jail.
[00:48:58] Which was interesting.
[00:48:59] That they decided to do that.
[00:49:01] I think they wanted to lock them up.
[00:49:03] So that way they could try and figure out.
[00:49:05] Where if they were from At At In.
[00:49:07] They could try and use them.
[00:49:08] To figure out how to get there.
[00:49:10] Then in jail.
[00:49:12] This is a very.
[00:49:14] Pirates of the Caribbean.
[00:49:16] Even from the ride.
[00:49:17] Pirates of the Caribbean.
[00:49:20] Flume ride.
[00:49:21] In the Disney parks.
[00:49:23] The dog is.
[00:49:24] They're trying to get the dog.
[00:49:25] To get the key for them.
[00:49:26] So that they can get out.
[00:49:27] They try to do the same thing.
[00:49:28] With the little rat creature.
[00:49:30] To try and get him.
[00:49:31] They tell him.
[00:49:32] Okay go over to the key.
[00:49:33] Pick it up.
[00:49:34] And bring the key back to us.
[00:49:35] And then the little rat creature.
[00:49:36] Goes over and pees on it.
[00:49:37] And then runs away.
[00:49:39] Just like the dog.
[00:49:40] Doesn't get the key.
[00:49:42] For them in Pirates of the Caribbean.
[00:49:44] And then they're stuck.
[00:49:45] But then.
[00:49:46] Just like in Aladdin.
[00:49:47] Out from the dark.
[00:49:48] Comes an old frail man.
[00:49:50] He looks like.
[00:49:51] He's hunched over.
[00:49:52] He's got a big.
[00:49:54] Cowl.
[00:49:55] And a hood.
[00:49:55] Over top of him.
[00:49:56] And you see his ankles.
[00:49:58] Have.
[00:50:01] Handcuffs.
[00:50:02] Ankle cuffs on him.
[00:50:03] Just like.
[00:50:04] The.
[00:50:05] Old man did.
[00:50:06] When Jafar was.
[00:50:08] Pretending to be the old man.
[00:50:09] To get Aladdin.
[00:50:10] To help him get out of there.
[00:50:12] And.
[00:50:12] He comes out.
[00:50:14] Says.
[00:50:14] Oh.
[00:50:15] I can save you.
[00:50:16] I can get you out of here.
[00:50:17] But you have to take me with you.
[00:50:18] I've been in here a very long time.
[00:50:20] You take me with you.
[00:50:21] Back to your homeland.
[00:50:22] Because he wants that big score.
[00:50:24] He wants to go back to the homeland.
[00:50:26] Raid it of all of its gold and riches.
[00:50:28] And then.
[00:50:29] He will be back.
[00:50:30] And be the best.
[00:50:31] The biggest.
[00:50:32] The pirate.
[00:50:33] Of all pirates.
[00:50:33] Because he'll have all the money.
[00:50:35] And the kids are like.
[00:50:36] But the key's all the way over there.
[00:50:37] You can get it.
[00:50:38] And then he uses the force.
[00:50:39] Woo.
[00:50:40] And brings the key over.
[00:50:42] And then.
[00:50:43] Just when you're ready to go.
[00:50:45] All right.
[00:50:45] Let's do it.
[00:50:47] Roll credits.
[00:50:48] And that's the end of it.
[00:50:49] And now we have to see.
[00:50:50] Next week.
[00:50:50] Until we see.
[00:50:51] The grand escape.
[00:50:52] From this rock.
[00:50:53] And I'm sure.
[00:50:53] If there's any good cliffhanger.
[00:50:55] At the end of the season.
[00:50:56] Maybe.
[00:50:57] This is what I was originally thinking.
[00:50:59] Maybe we'll just get back.
[00:51:01] To town.
[00:51:02] And then we won't see.
[00:51:03] If Jude Law.
[00:51:05] Actually.
[00:51:08] Finds it.
[00:51:08] Maybe that'll be season two.
[00:51:09] Where Jude Law is trying to find.
[00:51:11] All the gold and riches.
[00:51:13] But it'll be interesting to see.
[00:51:15] If the whole season.
[00:51:16] Is them just trying to escape.
[00:51:18] And trying to figure out.
[00:51:19] How to get back home.
[00:51:20] Or if they get back home.
[00:51:21] In like season.
[00:51:22] In episode six.
[00:51:23] Or episode seven.
[00:51:24] And then after that.
[00:51:25] It's Jude Law.
[00:51:26] Breaking all kinds of laws.
[00:51:27] On the planet.
[00:51:28] That would take a weird.
[00:51:30] Weird turn.
[00:51:31] So it'll be interesting to see.
[00:51:32] Which way they do.
[00:51:33] But that's it for the first two episodes.
[00:51:36] I talked a lot.
[00:51:37] I hope you got something out of this.
[00:51:38] I hope you enjoyed.
[00:51:40] Hearing all of the Easter eggs.
[00:51:42] And everything else that I found.
[00:51:43] And other people have found.
[00:51:44] And I'm giving them all to you now.
[00:51:47] Next week.
[00:51:48] It comes out on Tuesday.
[00:51:50] Instead of Monday.
[00:51:51] So hopefully next week.
[00:51:52] Nick and I are both very busy.
[00:51:54] We're going to have to find some time in here.
[00:51:55] To do a recap of episode three.
[00:51:58] Because.
[00:51:59] I'm enjoying it so far.
[00:52:00] I like it a lot.
[00:52:01] I hope Nick is too.
[00:52:03] We'll find out next week.
[00:52:04] What Nick's take is on it.
[00:52:05] But I'm definitely enjoying this.
[00:52:07] I like the adventure of this.
[00:52:08] I have watched it.
[00:52:10] Two times already.
[00:52:11] And then have done a lot more research.
[00:52:13] And hearing what other people have to say about it.
[00:52:15] So probably have seen.
[00:52:17] Everything at least three times.
[00:52:19] And I don't mind it.
[00:52:20] Where some of the other series.
[00:52:23] Is that have come out since the Mandalorian.
[00:52:26] I haven't even watched them twice.
[00:52:28] But I've already watched this two or two times.
[00:52:29] I would even watch it again tomorrow.
[00:52:31] Because I enjoyed it so much.
[00:52:32] It was very good.
[00:52:34] So.
[00:52:35] So far so good.
[00:52:36] I feel this is their.
[00:52:39] So far in my opinion.
[00:52:40] It will be their second.
[00:52:42] Third best season.
[00:52:44] I think Andor is a really good.
[00:52:46] Show that people don't understand.
[00:52:49] But it's a really really good show.
[00:52:51] So so far I would put this in the top three.
[00:52:53] Of all the Disney Plus series.
[00:52:56] I don't know what you think.
[00:52:57] But let me know what you think.
[00:52:58] I definitely will put it in the top three.
[00:53:01] So until next week.
[00:53:03] I want to say.
[00:53:05] Hopefully Nick's voice is better.
[00:53:07] Because I can't do all this talking.
[00:53:08] All by myself.
[00:53:09] All the time.
[00:53:10] Until next week.
[00:53:13] We have spoken.
[00:53:14] Or at least I have.
