Avatar Land - Disneyland's Next Frontier?

Are there plans coming for an Avatar Land? Amidst whispers of Disney's plans, Bob Iger, CEO of Walt Disney Co., hinted at a potential addition to the Disneyland Resort—a land similar to "Pandora-The World of Avatar" in Florida, featuring the Navi'i and enchanting landscapes.

During the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference, Iger dropped a very small comment  about this possibility, sending the Disney blog world into a spiral.

"We have one Avatar-based land, Pandora, in Florida; we’re going to put a second one in California. That doesn’t mean we can’t put one somewhere in Asia or somewhere in Europe, for instance.” shared Iger. Which doesn't really say anything about a future Avatar land in Anaheim per say, but speculation is always fun.

The expansion of Disneyland inches closer, bringing curiosity and excitement. Initially announced in 2023, this "Avatar experience" Iger mentioned remains a mystery, leaving only wild speculation in its wake. However, in May of that year, James Cameron, the director of the Avatar films, had been mentioned as working with Imagineers on a new project. Whatever that ends up being - a small attraction or an entire land - would absolutley be faithful to the Avatar franchise.

Of course, all of this might depend on Anaheim's approval of the DisneylandForward plan. Residents so far express apprehension over Disney's proposal to acquire public roads, even as the blueprint for the park's revitalization promises a dozens of new attractions and shopping experiences within its expansive 490-acre domain.

With a commitment to invest a minimum of $1.9 billion over the next decade contingent upon the approval of the Disneyland Forward proposal, Disney's vision for the park's evolution edges closer to realization.

The Anaheim City Council's impending vote in May stands as a pivotal moment in shaping Disneyland's future landscape. What that means for Avatar in Anaheim, we will have to wait and find out.
