Disneyland Can Finally Reopen!

That's right - as of April 1st, Disneyland and other California theme parks are allowed to open their doors, all thanks to Governor Gavin Newsom's revamp of the states reopening strategy.

Dubbed "Blueprint Refresh", the adjusted guidelines allow for Disneyland, LegoLand, Six Flags, and other theme parks to reopen once the counties they are contained in meet the requirements to be placed in California's Tier 2 (Red) of COVID risk. The change does away with the previous markers set back in October of 2020, demanding that counties hit the minimal risk (yellow) tier 4 before larger theme parks could reopen.

Orange County is projected to slip into the Red Tier on April 1st, effectively granting Disneyland to reopen, but with a 15% park capacity, which is quite a change from the previous 25% requirement placed on it back in October.

Not only is this great news for Disneyland fans and Cast Members - not to mention the local economy in Anaheim - but this is also a larger snapshot of just how well the newly adjusted vaccine distributions are going in Southern California.

Of course, this is a big if. Things can go wrong, and Disneyland might still be closed on April 2nd, but this is a good sign. As long as those COVID numbers stay on the downward trend, we could all be having a churro on Main by Spring!

There is no official word yet from Disneyland on the reopen date, but we expect that to change fairly soon.
