A New Courtesy Section Is Added to Disney Websites Amid Increase in Fights On Resort Property

It's a sad reality that even the happiest place on Earth can be marred by conflicts and fights. In an effort to address this issue and ensure the safety and enjoyment of all its visitors, Disneyland and Disney World have recently added "courtesy" sections to their websites.

Located in the "Top Things You Should Know" area of Disneyland's website and the main page of Disney World's website, these sections remind visitors to treat others with respect, kindness, and compassion. The sections also detail the parks' policies on profanity and disruptive or offensive behavior, as well as prohibiting jumping lines or saving places in lines for others. The wording on the Disney World website takes this a step further, stating that those who cannot treat others with respect may be asked to leave the park.

There has been an increase in reports of physical fights and screaming matches at the Florida theme parks, as well as a fight breaking out at Disneyland during a show, according to the Orange County Register. Additionally, Anaheim police have reported over 40 incidents at Disneyland in 2022 alone, marking a significant increase from previous years. Some police have been known to report crimes as being committed in Disney World, when they really had taken place in other cities, but those cases do not appear to be included in this uptick in violence on Disney Property.

In an effort to prevent fights and promote a safe environment, Knott's Berry Farm also implemented a chaperone policy earlier this year, which has since been updated. The added notice on the Disneyland and Disney World websites is intended to help visitors have a safe and enjoyable experience and asks them to adhere to the parks' rules and show common courtesy to others.

While it's unfortunate that such measures have to be taken, we hope that these reminders will help create a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere at the theme parks.
