The Many Faces of Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean | Part 2

In part one of this deep dive into the many faces in Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean, we tied 4 sets of animatronic faces to 15 different figures within the ride. With part two, we continue piecing this puzzle together with the goal of locating each and every shared face in Pirates.

This is part two of a series that looks at each head and finds it’s twin – or at least a slightly altered version of it – within Pirates. Keep in mind that some of these images might not reflect the citizens and invaders of Puerto Dorado as they are currently, since Pirates tends to get a refresher from time to time, but it should be a good collection of the reused faces.

Face 5: Maniac Face

If you thought Serious Boy was reused, Maniac Man is in Pirates a total of 8 times, which makes it only the second most reused face! This guy is everywhere, and his look is pretty diverse.

MM #1 - Well Pirate with Peg Leg

The most brightly dressed of these 5 pirates in the well scene, our pal with the peg leg stands at the ready - to either shoot someone or look amazing limping down the catwalk, all while poor Carlos is getting dunked.

MM #2 - Seated Pirate on Stairs

Sitting on the steps, trying catch a stream of rum seems like the best way to ride out a siege. Especially if you are on the winning side of it.

MM #3 - Mandolin Player

The first of our three minstrels, these happy guys are to our left as we sail through the town of Puerto Dorado. Well, the donkey to his left might be considered the fourth member of this group, but we have yet to hear back from his agent.

MM #4 - Bride On-looker

Not weird or creepy in any way ... no. This man can be seen leering at you across from the bridal auction (now the antiques auction).

MM#5 - Drunk Pirate Leaning on the other drunk Pirate

This one is a bit harder to place, but he's on the right side, near the pirate with the many hats on, having a great time. Just don't stare at his left leg as you pass ...

MM#6 - Jail Cell Guy

The most famous scene in all of pirates has one of the most used heads in all of Pirates. Fitting.

MM#7 - Guy on Cannon

Taking aim ... for over 40 years. This is the only head that looks different enough that we would never notice that they are the same. The mouth being stretched like that really gives it a whole new dimension.

MM# 8 - Shooter Being Held Up By His Buddy

True friends are there when you need them. Even when it's to take aim at your twin across the canal.

Face #6 - Sweet-Faced Lady

It's about time we get to the women of Pirates! The Sweet-Faced Lady is in here three times

SFL #1 - Carlos' Wife

A face that needs no introduction, and I bet you can hear her telling Carlos not to be chicken just from looking at the photo, can't you?

SFL #2 - Bride #1

The OTHER infamous scene in Pirates sees Carlos' wife have a twin being sold off. Love the eye shadow, though. It doesn't look as if she's in this scene any longer, since the Redhead became a pirate, but still fun to know.

SFL #3 - Bride #2

Bride #2 was removed a few years ago, even before the Redhead rework, but still fun to include.

Face #7 - Jolly Lady

She just looks so pure and happy, no matter what!

JL #1 - Rolling Pin

The tables were turned on the pirates years ago, and this Jolly Lady seems all too happy to deliver some Puerto Durado justice to our seemingly shocked pirate friend.

JL #2 - Singing Man

So far, one of the only faces to cross genders - the Sweet-Faced Lady is seen here singing "Yo-Ho" for us as we drift through the chaos.

SFL #3 - Bride #3

Another figure that has changed since the Redhead was changed, this lovely bride stood next to the auctioneer, batting her lashes and looking ever-so sweet. Now she is a bit more "handsome", clutching a chicken under each arm, still in the same location.

Face #8 - Big Hat Man

Each time this face is used, it's housing a giant hat of some kind. I guess some faces are built for hats.

BHM #1 - Feather Hat

Tall hat, tall feather, long face.

BHM #2 - Tall Hat

This guy is across the canal from what is now the antiques auction (formally the bridal auction), looking a lot like McNutty from "The Wire".

BHM #3 - Concertina Player

The last of our minstrels, playing "Yo Ho" to us in the boat as we drift by, and also to the donkey stuck in the barn!

This is a good place to stop for now. Let's take a moment to gather our strength for the final push in Part 3, which will have usconnect the last four reused faces of Pirates with their animatronic bodies!
