It's no secret that a great deal of Disney's success at the boxoffice (and it's theme parks) has to do with nostalgia. The overwhelming sense of place when you enter the gates at Disneyland, or the warm feeling you get walking down Main Street, it's all geared to helping you remember the past fondly. Here we are, not even in the middle of November yet, and already Disney is smashing our nostalgia button in the wind-up to Christmas.
"From Our Family To Yours" is billed as a Christmas ad, but it feels more like a Pixar short in it's delivery and production value. The story centers around a grandmother and her granddaughter, sharing in the family tradition of passing a much-loved Mickey Mouse doll down from generation to generation. So already this thing is priming the waterworks! The project was started last December, as animation takes a long time to get right. There are also plenty of easter eggs hidden throughout, including hidden Mickeys.
